Earl David Lipsitz, 63, of Birmingham died May 16, 2004. He was a member of Temple Bethel.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Lipsitz of Birmingham; his stepdaughter, Lisa Armstrong of Alabaster; and his stepson, Brandon Greek of Birmingham.

Service will be private, Charter Funeral Home directing. The family requests memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Lotus Bean Little

Alabaster resident

Lotus Bean Little, 86, died Thursday, May 20, 2004. She was born Tuesday, May 7, 1918 to Robert Hartford Bean and Docia Catherine Bean. She was formerly of Thorsby and a current resident of Alabaster. She owned and operated Billingsley Beauty Salon.

She is survived by her sons, David (Susan) Little of Hoover, Rick (Jeanie) Little of Minneapolis, Minn., and Tim Little of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and four grandchildren, Brandon, Melissa, Christopher and Alissa.

Service was private with burial in Salem Cemetery, Charter Funeral Home directing. The family requests memorial donations be made to the Amelia Center at Children's Hospital.

Hannah Grace Noe

Infant

Infant Hannah Grace Noe of Columbiana died May 24, 2004, at a local hospital. She was born May 18, 2004, in Homewood.

She is survived by her parents, R. Ferrell and Kimberly Noe; her brother, Andrew Noe, all of Columbiana; her grandparents, Janice and the late Bobby Noe of Columbiana, Phillip and Sharon Coleman of Mt. Olive and Roger Miller of Alabaster; and great-grandmothers, Ruby Sizemore of Lipscomb, Juanita Johnson of Columbiana and Lillie Miller of Alabaster.

Graveside service was May 25 at Pinelawn Gardens, the Rev. Jay Gordon presiding and Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing.

Charles William "Bill" Pittman

Indian Springs resident

Charles William "Bill" Pittman, 75, of Indian Springs died May 17, 2004. He was a member of New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and taught the JOY Bible study. He had retired from South Central Bell Telephone after 40 years of service.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the 61st Infantry in Europe during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jennie Parsons Dockery Pittman; two sons, Charles "Chuck" William (Amanda Marie) Pittman Jr. and Henry Dockery Pittman; one daughter, Jennie Dockery (Dr. Jesse William "Ace") Austin; one brother, Jackson Lee (Sarah) Pittman Jr.; three grandchildren, Matthew Pittman Austin, Jesse William Austin and Jennie Dockery Austin; one nephew, Dr. Jack (Valleta) Pittman; and one niece, Emily Pittman (Art) Hudson.

Service was May 20 at New Hope Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Donny Acton presiding. Burial followed in Southern Heritage Cemetery, Ridout's Brown Service directing.

James Speigner Jr.

Lifelong resident of Chilton County

James Speigner Jr., 77, of Verbena died Thursday, May 20, 2004. He was a lifelong resident of Chilton County, retired from the Alaga Lodge Verbena and a member of the West End Church of Christ in Clanton.

He is survived by his daughters, Queenie Humphries and Tonia Speigner; brothers and sisters, Willie (Cassandra) Speigner, Mayo (Shelly) Baldwin, Eleanor (James) Adams, Ethel Hutchins and Ethel Mae (Charles) Gill; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Service will be today, May 26 at the church, Robert Courtney presiding. Burial will follow in the Mary Williams Cemetery in Verbena, Westside Funeral Home in Calera directing.

Bear Edward Baucom

Jemison resident

Bear Edward Baucom, 35, of Jemison died Monday, May 24, 2004. He was born Sept. 19, 1968, in Jefferson County and was preceded in death by his father, Garland Edward Baucom.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy Baucom of Jemison; his parents, mother and stepfather, Kenneth and Betty Parker of Jemison; his sisters, Melanie Baucom of Birmingham and Debora George of Clanton; brothers, Mickey Baucom of Birmingham, Kerry Baucom of Georgia, Aaron Baucom of Sterrett and Keith Baucom of Dadeville; his aunt, Connie Carlisle of Cullman; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Service was May 26 at Bolton-Letlow Chapel, the Rev. David Houston presiding. Burial followed in Pinelawn Gardens, Bolton-Letlow directing.

Ray E. Benson

Grandfather of 27

Ray E. Benson, 74, of Shelby died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at his home. He was born Feb. 17, 1930, in Shelby and was a lifelong resident of Shelby County. He was a retired general contractor and owner of Rebco Construction. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Mooney; his parents, Sidney and Minnie Benson; and his siblings, Dalton, Ed, Sidney, Louise, Lottie, Pete and Oswald.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lola Higgins Benson; his children, Victor (Cathy) Mooney, Steve (Denise) Benson, Terry (Don) Gould, Sonya (Darrel) Bills, Chris (Donna) Benson, Marcia (Mark) Garrett, Kirt (Jo Lynn) Benson and Jonathan (Kelly) Benson; 17 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Service was June 1 at Bay Springs Baptist Church, the Rev. Don Vanderslice and Wayne Horton presiding. Burial followed in the church cemetery, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing.

Michael Kent Cotterman

Lakeside Baptist Church member

Michael Kent Cotterman, 55, of Alabaster died Monday, May 24, 2004, in Alabaster. He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church in Birmingham.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn A. Cotterman of Alabaster; his daughter, Jill Checket of Cleveland, Ohio; his stepdaughter, Shonna Caplinger of Tampa, Fla.; his son, David Cotterman of Minneapolis, Minn.; his stepson, Chris Henry of Columbus, Ohio; his mother, Mary V. Cotterman of Kilmarnock, Va.; his sisters, Carol Mayer of Virginia and Cindy Tifft of Huntsville; and three step-grandchildren.

Open house was May 29 at Lakeside Baptist Church, Rockco's Funeral Home directing. The family requests memorial donations be made to the Lakeside Benevolence Fund.

Bobby Earl Jones

Bobby Earl Jones, 63, of Shelby died Thursday, May 27, 2004, at home. He was born Feb. 28, 1941, in Shelby.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Vernon Jones; children, Angela (Don) Defnall, Robert (Mandy) Jones and Rebecca (Russell) Barron; grandchildren, Kayla and Kevin Defnall, Robert Jr. and Chloe Jones, Austin and Madison Barron; brothers, James (Margaret) Jones, J.V. (Elsie) Jones, Luke (Elsie) Jones, Charles (Mildred) Jones, Harvey (Linda) Jones and Dock Jones; and sisters, Joyce (Billy) Pearson, Mary Jo Reynolds and Ruby (Terry) Linholm.

Service was May 29 at Bay Springs Baptist Church, the Rev. Johnye Horton presiding. Burial followed in the adjacent cemetery, Bolton-Letlow Funeral Home directing.

Floyd William Lucas Sr.

Montevallo resident

Floyd William Lucas Sr., 74, of Montevallo died Monday, May 24, 2004, in Montevallo. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Cleckler Lucas; his father, Walter Lucas Sr.; and his brothers, Lewis Lucas, Chester Lucas and Lester Lucas.

He is survived by his wife, Billie Ruth Lucas of Montevallo; his daughters, Carol (Scott) Segers of Gadsden and Regina Lucas of Birmingham; his son, Floyd (Shelia) Lucas Jr. of Kansas City, Kan.; three sisters, Flossie Murphy of Ashville, Alice Nunnally of Clanton and Nora Russell of Birmingham; three brothers, Walter Gray Lucas Jr. of Montevallo, Houston Lucas of Prattville and Johnny Lucas of Birmingham; and grandchildren, Cameron Guyton, Andrew Guyton, Savannah Lucas, Hallie Lucas, Colin Lucas and Carson Lucas.

Graveside service was May 30 at Ashby Cemetery in Brierfield, Brother Steve Johnson presiding and Rockco's Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Marlin Stricklin, E.C. Fancher, Donnie Burnett, Ronnie Burnett, James Lucas and James Lucas Jr.
