Eugene Gresham

Aug. 29, 2003

Eugene Gresham, 67, of Flomaton died Friday. A native of Flomaton, he had lived in Milton for many years before returning to Flomaton last year. He was a Baptist by faith and was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Ray Gresham and Donald Payne Gresham.

He is survived by son Eugene Franklin Gresham Jr. of Carencro, La.; four daughters, Tina Spell of Flomaton; Diana Martin of Flomaton; Melanie Hebert of Lafayette, La., and Christine Gresham of Carencro.Also survived by four brothers, Carlton 'C.B.' Gresham of Flomaton; William Gresham of Flomaton; Donald Gresham of Flomaton; Ronald Wayne Gresham of Picayune, La., and Hughey Gresham of Dallas; five sisters, M.L. 'Sis' Portwood of Flomaton; Marie Peebles of Flomaton; Carol Smith of Century; Rosa Lee Lambeth of Flomaton and Frances Warren of Kerrens, Texas; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Keese officiating. Burial followed at Traveler's Rest Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dewayne Gresham, James Paul Parramore, Brian Peebles, Tommy Rex Fore, Tony Fore and Tony Gresham. Honorary pallbearers were Alfread White, Richard Byrd, O'Dell Fou, Jimmy Kornegay and Leon Johnson.

Eastside Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Flora Allene Morgan

Aug. 28, 2003

Flora Allene Morgan, 88, of Atmore died Thursday. A native of McCullough, she was born there on Aug. 11, 1915 to the late Dan and Martha Nowling Dewrell. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert David Morgan, and a son, Bobby Joe Morgan.

She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Lassitter and husband Milford of Atmore; a brother, George Dewrell of Mobile; two sisters, Eunavey Grant of Pensacola and Cora Driskell of Bay Minette; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-granchildren.

Services were held Sunday from the Johnson Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Davis, Rev. Glynn Lowrey and Rev. Leon Stewart officiating. Burial followed in the McCullough Cemetery. Johnson Quimby was in charge of arrangements.

Andrew Scott DeVilbiss Sr.

Sept. 8, 2003

Andrew Scott DeVilbiss Sr., 48, of Foley died Monday. He attended the University of Eastern Kentucky before serving in the U.S. Army. He attended the University of Delaware after his service. He enjoyed the outdoors and motorcycles. He is survived by his wife, Angela M.; a daughter, Rhea Shea; a son, Scott Jr., all of Foley; parents Paul and Sally DeVilbiss; sister Christine King; brother Paul DeVilbiss, all of Lewes, Del.

Services were held Friday from Bayview Funeral Home in Foley. Burial followed in the Barrancas National Cemetery. All

arrangements by Bayview Funeral Home.

Marion Eugene Walker

Sept. 8, 2003

Marion Eugene 'Big Boy' Walker, 79, died Monday at a Pensacola hospital.

A native of Huxford, he had been a resident of McDavid for the last 58 years. He was a retired employee of St. Regis, was Baptist by faith and was preceded in death by his wife Georgia Walker and a son, Mickey Walker.

He is survived by two sons, Kenneth E. Walker and wife Vanessa of Mobile and Teddy Walker, also of Mobile. He is also survived by a daughter, Patricia Thomas and husband Bubba of McDavid and a brother, Charles Franklin Walker of Bay Minette; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services were held Thursday at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Fil Enfinger officiating. Burial followed at Ray's Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kevin Walker, Keith Walker, Jason Stanford, Terry Stanford, Michael Walker and Richard Chancery. Honorary pallbearer was J.C. Polk.

Eastside Chapel Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.

Rosa Nell Baker

Sept. 22, 2003

Mrs. Rosa Nell Baker, 81, died Monday in Atmore. Mrs. Baker was a native of Atmore and a resident for the past 50 years. She owned and operated Baker's Store in Canoe for 25 years and attended the Baptist church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Baker; a daughter, Jeanelle Batchelor; her parents; two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Nola and Shirley Martin of Canoe and Judy and Grady Barnes, Jr. of McDavid; two sisters, Betty Wisener of Mobile and Janet Bell Hatchcock of Mobile; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildred and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 25, at 11 a.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Minister Sam Ezell officiating. Burial will follow at Canoe Freewill Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 24, between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Tim Chavers, Greg Chavers, Tony Chavers, Gary Batchelor, Ronnie Batchelor, Grady L. Barnes and David Barnes. Honorary pallbearers will be: Mike Watson, Wayne Baker, Malcolm Graham, Leon Crawford and Quinton Rowell. Contributions can be made to Canoe Freewill Cemetery or flowers can be sent. Eastside Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Lizzie Mae Nolen

Sept. 25, 2003

Lizzie Mae Nolen, 84, formerly of Atmore, died Thursday, September 25 at her residence in Detroit, MI. Mrs. Nolen was a native of Butler Co. and a resident of Atmore for many years. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She had worked for a nursing home for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband W.T. Nolen; three daughters, Annie Ruth Johnson, Ruby Robinson, and Elizabeth Arnold; two sons, James Nolen and Willie Nolen, Jr.; three grandchildren.

She is survived by: three daughters, Gracie Fisher of Mt. Vernon, Verna Johnson and Belinda Nolen both of Detroit, MI; one step-daughter, Patricia Baker of Tampa, FL; three sons, Leon and Henry Nolen both of Detroit, MI, and Robert Nolen of Atmore; three step-sons, William, Benjamin, and Johnny Nolen all of Grenta, FL; 30 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 4 at the Greater Mr. Triumph Baptist Church in Atmore. The Rev. Henry McNeal of Detroit will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairvew Cemetery in Atmore.

Visitation will be at 1-8 p.m. Friday, October 3 at the Turner Funeral Chapel. There will be a family hour from 7-8 p.m. Her body will lie instate at the church one hour prior to funeral services.

Turner Funeral Chapel will be in charge of the arrangements.

Marjorie Jeter Woods

Sept. 25, 2003

Marjorie Jeter Woods, 68, died Thursday, September 25 at a local hospital.

Mrs. Woods was a native of Deer Range, AL and a resident of Walnut Hill for the past 22 years. She was a very loving mother and grandmother and attended the Baptist church. She was preceded in death by: an infant son; her parents, Author and Nathalee Stacey; and three sisters, Irene Raines, Alice Ford and Altha "Cricket" Stacey.

She is survived by: her companion of 21 years, Phillip Victor of Walnut Hill; her son and daughter-in-law, James E. and Jan Jeter of Bratt; a step-son Eugene and Debbie Woods; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Wendell Powell of Atmore, Twyla and Gary "BoBo" Bryan of Walnut Hill; two step-daughters, Jan Woods and Susie Dyals; a brother, Author "Buck" Stacey of Century; four sisters, Sally Mae Dennis of Deere Range, Montez Dreadin of Flomaton, Aliene Crutchfield of Atmore, and Ethel Long of Atmore; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, September 28 at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Clyde Bruley and Rev. Billy McGhee officiating. Burial followed at Godwin Cemetery.

Louise Anderson Kelly

Sept. 29, 2003

Louise Anderson Kelly, 81, died Monday, September 29 in Byrneville, FL.

Mrs. Kelly was a native of Pineapple, AL, a former resident of Wallace and a resident of Byrneville, FL since 1956. She attended the Byrneville United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Calvin Kelly.

She is survived by: five sisters-in-law, Lavada and Rev. J.D. Renfroe of Atmore, Vera Presley of Byrneville, Carlene Kelly of Pensacola, Shelby Peaks of Arkansas, and Erleen Williamson of Brewton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 1 at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. J.D. Renfroe, Rev. Larry Renfroe and Pastor Jackson Snyder officiating. Burial will follow at Byrneville Methodist Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Pallbearers will be Neil Stinson, Jerry Anderson, Dennis Anderson, Terry Anderson, Dale Levins, and Tim Anderson. Honorary pallbearer will be Herman Armstrong.

Eastside Chapel Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

Jimmy Darrin Lindsey

Sept. 20, 2003

Jimmy Darrin Lindsey, 37, of Atmore, died Saturday, September 20.

Mr. Lindsey was an active member of Gaines Chapel AME Church. He was a graduate of Escambia County High School, class of 1983. He received an Associate of Arts degree from Concordia College in Selma. He later continued his education at Concordia College in Houston, TX. He was employed at Standard Furniture Co., West Teleservices and Z-tel. He was preceded in death by; his father, Jimmy Clarence Lindsey; two sisters, Cecilia Davis, and Shelia Lindsey Chambers.

He is survived by: his mother, Earnestine Lindsey; two daughters, LaSheila and Bianca McBride; two sons, Carlos Tolbert and Dontrea Bullard all of Atmore; eight sisters, Stephanie Lindsey of Mobile, LaQuanda Lindsey of Montgomery, LaShaunda (James) Wilson of Atmore, Yolanda Gail Longmire of Atmore, Ashley Lindsey of Atmore, Kim Powers of Atmore, April Powers of Birmingham, Sylvia Jordan of New Jersey; four brothers, Windrick Mickens of Los Angeles, CA, Skylar Lindsey of Atmore, Lorenzo Marshall of Walnut Hill, Donald Ray Marshall of Walnut Hill; one brother-in-law, Luck Chambers of Atmore; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 27 at the Gaines Chapel AME Church in Atmore. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery in Atmore.

Robinson Funeral Services was in charge of the arrangements.
