Julia Mae Dunn

February 9, 2004

Mrs. Julia Mae Dunn, 86, passed away Monday in Pensacola. Mrs. Dunn was a native and lifetime resident of Century. FL. She was the oldest member of the Century United Methodist Church, a descendant of Century's founding family and owner and operator of Julia's Beauty Shop in Century for 45 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, George Wilson Dunn; a granddaughter, Laura Ann Dunn; three sisters, Evlynne Deane, Myrtle Connolly and Mildred Vapolsky and her brother, Max Garrett. She is survived by two sons, Michael R. Dunn of Gulf Breeze and Lamar W. Dunn of Pensacola; a sister, Thelma Wadkins of Century and her grandson, John Michael Dunn of Gulf Breeze.

Services were held Thursday from the Century United Methodist Church with Dr. Pete Dunn officiating. Burial followed at McCurdy Cemetery.

All arrangements by Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Marshall Wayne Lassiter

February 5, 2004

Mr. Marshall Wayne Lassiter, 58, of Stockton, died Thursday, February 5 in Pensacola.

Mrs. Lassiter was a carpenter, born in McCullough on June 03, 1945 to Robert Jack and Ada Bell Wall Lassiter. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran.

He is survived by his wife Pam Lassiter, of Stockton; two sons, Brandon Tyrone Lassiter of Atmore and Marshall W. Jack Lassiter of Stockton; two daughters Monica Lassiter and Tennelle Horning both of Walnut Hill; three brothers, Milford Lassiter; Rubert Lassiter; Russell Lassiter, all of Atmore; two sisters, Sue Cumbie, of Little River, and Shirley White, of Atmore; seven grandchildren, Kolten, Jordan, Paeton, Preston, Dylan, Breyden and Marshall Cole.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 07 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Davis and Bro. Buddy Williamson officiating.

Burial followed in McCullough Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were Terry Johnson, Jerry Johnson, Rusty Lassiter, Rusty Hodges, Cameron Horning and Steve Freeman.

Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 06 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, INC was in charge of all arrangements.

Lucille J. Moore

February 3, 2004

Mrs. Lucille J. Moore, 82, of Atmore, died Tuesday, February 3, at her residence.

Mrs. Moore was retired from Tinker Air Force Base where she rose to the rank of Industrial Funds Manager. She was born in Mobile County on March 31, 1921 to the late Thomas and Josephine Casey Jordan. She began her career at Brookley Air Force Base as a clerk typist, She then transferred to San Bernardino, CA, to Norton Air Force Base in 1953. After 14 years at Norton she transferred to Tinker Air Force Base in 1966. She then retired in 1975 and moved to Atmore in June of 2001.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Charles Moore, of Atmore; one son, Fred Moore, and his wife, Betty, of Bratt; two daughters, Sara Bratt, of Dothan and Hope Downey, and her husband, Pat, of Mobile; eleven grandchildren; sixteen Great grandchildren; two nephews and one niece.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 06 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Dukes officiating.

Burial followed in Judson Cemetery in Poarch.

Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 05 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, INC was in charge of all arrangements.

Nellie Jane Parker

February 7, 2004

Mrs. Nellie Jane Parker, 93, died Saturday at Atmore Community Hospital. She was a native of Monroe County and a resident of Atmore for many years. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Kyser. She is survived by her two daughters, Bobbie Bailey and husband Arthur of Atmore; Bernice Frank and husband Howard of Santa Cruz, CA; her four sons, Mark Parker, Jr. and wife Josephine of Inkster, MI; Richard Parker and wife Gloria of Inkster, MI; Willie James "Jim" Parker and wife Bobbie of Montgomery; Woodrow McClain Parker and wife Sylvia of Gainesville, FL; one sister, Willie Bell Singleton of Atmore; two brothers, McClain Lee of Atmore and Carlton Lee of Philadelphia, PA; 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday from Turner Funeral Chapel with Rev. Willie Hawthorne and Rev. Al Durant officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery.

All arrangements by Turner Funeral Chapel.

Pat Sager

February 5, 2004

Mrs. Pat Sager, 54, died Thursday, February 5 at a Pensacola hospital.

Mrs. Sager was a native of Monroeville, a former resident of Molino and a resident of Atmore for the past eight years. She attended the Atmore Church of God.

She is survived by her husband, Roosevelt Sager of Atmore; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James R Davidson, of Molino; two sons, Larry Sager and his wife, Terrie, of Molino and Barry Sager, and his wife, Sheila, Sager of Atmore; her brother, James E. Davidson, and his wife Cathy, of Panama City, Fla; a nephew, Kevin Davidson, of Pensacola; and four grandchildren, Kenneth; Dillon; Danielle and Dalton

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 09 at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Marlin B. Sanford officiating.

Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in Wild Fork.

Visitation was held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday, February 8 at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, was in charge of all arrangements.

Rethanal (Johnnie Lee) Reynolds

February 7, 2004

Retired SSGT Rethanal (Johnnie Lee) Reynolds, 78, died Saturday at his residence.

He was a native and resident of Atmore for 78 years. He worked as a construction worker for Johnny Taylor Construction and was a retired veteran from the United States Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta L. Reynolds; his birth parents, Allen Reynolds and Liza Watson; and the individuals who raised him Elex and Sallie Smith. He is survived by three daughters, Emily A. Harris Thames of Atmore; Jacqueline Peterson and husband, Joseph of Atmore; Lora Collins and husband, Jim of Birmingham; her two sons, Herman T. Montgomery of Bronx, NY and Deschazo Reynolds and wife, Leigh Ann of Oklahoma, OK; her two sisters, Ann Ruth Johnson and husband, Elmoe of El Paso, TX; Florestine Jackson and husband, Harold of Jackson, IL; her three brothers, Allen Reynolds and wife, Margerett of Denver, CO; Charles Reynolds and wife, Mary of Milwaukee, WI and Volley L. Reynolds of Atmore; 17 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

Services were held Thursday from Turner Funeral Chapel with Bishop Willie L. Williams officiating. Burial followed at Stallworth Cemetery.

All arrangements by Turner Funeral Chapel.

Valerie Robinson

January 30, 2004

Mrs. Valerie Robinson, 44, died Friday at her residence in Jersey City, NJ. She worked as a Customer Care Specialist with King Teleservices.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Monolia House Goodman.

She is survived by her father, Rev. George F. Goodman of Jersey City, NJ; her two sisters, Sharon D. Jones and husband, Eric of Missouri City, NJ and Delia F. Goodman of Houston, TX; her brother, Denis Christian of Jersey City, NJ; her grandmother, Mary House of Atmore (Freemanville); her two nieces, Shayla and Erika and her three nephews, Keith, Ethan and Khiry.

Services were held Wednesday from Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with Rev. Alfonzo Williams. Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery.

All arrangements by Turner Funeral Chapel.
