Eddie Madison Sr.

Mr. Eddie Dean Madison Sr., 45, of Ludowici, Ga., died Friday, June 4, 2004 at his residence. He was a native of Escambia County, Fla. and a resident of Ludowici for many years.

He was a mason and a member of Johnson Lodge #37, International Mason, OES. He was employed at Bill Duckworth Tire as a manager and served in the U.S. Army in 1977 and Desert Storm.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Ray Madison.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Madison of Ludowici; three sons, Tarvarus Madison of Pensacola, Eddie Madison Jr. of Ft. Valley, Ga. and Errol Wilson of Germany; a daughter, Kenderelle Wilson of Killeen, Texas; eight brothers, John Henry Madison Jr., John Wesley Madison, John Edward Madison, Christiful Madison and Arron Madison all of Century, Perry Madison of Pensacola, Nathaniel Madison of Gordon, Ga. and Andrew Madison of Atmore and two sisters, Bessie Newton and Clara Jones both of Pensacola.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. at Century Cemetery on Friday, June 11.

Turner Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Tony Merchant

Mr. Tony Martin Merchant, 36, died Friday, June 4, 2004, at a Pensacola hospital.

Merchant was a native of Christian Home, Fla. and a resident of Atmore for the past four years. He attended the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carl Victor and George and Grace Merchant.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy Lynn Merchant of Atmore; his parents, Steve and Alice Merchant of Bratt; a daughter, Madison Nicole Merchant of Atmore; three brothers, Ronnie Merchant of Huxford, Erik Merchant and Nathan Merchant both of Bratt; a sister, Renee Merchant of Huxford; his grandmother, Sarah Victor of Christian Home; step-grandmother, Willie Merchant of McDavid and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at Abundant Life Assembly of God Church at 10 a.m., Wednesday with Rev. Joe Lee officiating. Burial will take place at Christian Home Cemetery.

Eastside Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

GEORGE MAXWELL

George Talmadge Maxwell, 85, of Pensacola, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, in a Pensacola hospital.

Maxwell was a native of Atmore and a resident of Pensacola. He was a Fighter Pilot in World War II and retired from naval service with the rank of Captain in 1968.

He was preceded in death by his parents, W. R. "Dolphie" and Mary Talmadge Maxwell and his older brother, W. Randolph Maxwell Jr.

He is survived by his wife, June Reamy Jungklas Maxwell; son, Robert Lyons Jungklas Jr. of Memphis, Tenn.; two daughters, Ann Elizabeth Wolters of Columbus, Ga. and Mary Talmadge Yanker of Louisville, Ky.; five grandchildren, Robert Lyons Jungklas III, Kate and James Wolters and Anna and Maxwell Yanker and three brothers, Joseph W. Maxwell of Fairhope, Dr. Ben C. Maxwell and Robert H. Maxwell both of Atmore.

Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel.

Funeral Services will be held at the Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel in Pensacola at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. Private burial with full military honors will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to "Committed to the Dream" at East Hill Baptist Church, 3960 Spanish Trail, Pensacola, FL 32504.

Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Georgia Smith

Georgia Virginia Smith, 80, of Latham, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at OakWood Nursing Home in Bay Minette.

Smith was a native of Baldwin County and a resident of Latham for many years. She was a domestic housewife.

She was preceded in death by husbands, Frank Gray and William Smith.

She is survived by three daughters, Annissa Shuler of Bay Minette, Virginia Grant of Latham and Sharon and husband George Fabbian Pearson of Missouri City, Texas; eight sons, Robert and wife Marjorie Gray, George and wife Naghma Gray and Frank and wife Golden Gray all of Bay Minette, Jesse and wife Genola Gray of Severn, Md., Tom and wife Voncile Gray of Latham, Curtis Davis and wife Arlene Gray of Panama City, Fla., Jeffery and wife Janice Gray of Latham and Joseph and wife Susan Gray of Portsmouth, Va. and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel on Sunday and her body will lie in state at the church for two hours prior to the funeral service.

Funeral services will be held at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Latham at 1 p.m., Monday, with Rev. Charles Washington Jr. officiating. Burial will take place at Latham Cemetery.

Mariana Longenecker

Mariana E. Longenecker, 67, of Elizabethtown, Pa., died Thursday, June 10, 2004, at Essa Flory Hospice Center in Lancaster, Pa. She was the daughter of Walter and Elva Stoner Ebersole.

She was a native of Elizabethtown and a resident of Colquitt, Ga. and Atmore.

She was a member of Marietta Community Chapel and a former member of Colquitt Mennonite Church and Mennonite Christian Fellowship of Atmore. She was employed by Ridgeview Farm Restaurant in Elizabethtown as co-manger for 14 years, she owned and operated ABC Day Care Center and Kindergarten in Colquitt and was a volunteer with We Care Prison Ministries in Atmore.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter and two brothers, Wayne Ebersole and David Ebersole.

She is survived by her husband, Paul L. Longenecker of Elizabethtown; three sons, Steven P. and wife Lenora M. Schrock Longenecker and Daryl R. and wife Janet M. Atkin Longenecker all of Birmingham and J. Lynford and wife Penni A. Swartz Longenecker of Lancaster; one daughter, Sylvia D. and husband Luke C. Weaver of Harrisonburg, Va.; one brother, Delmar and wife Ruth Ebersole of Iowa City, Iowa; four sisters, Clara and husband Roy Howe of Lawrenceville, Pa., Lois and husband Robert Kelchner of Elizabethtown, Ruth and husband Alvin Zimmerman of Harrisburg and Esther and husband Omer Yoder of Ephrata, Pa. and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday and 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Marietta Community Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at Marietta Community Chapel at 10 a.m., Tuesday. Burial will take place at Good Mennonite Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Eastern Mennonite Missions, P.O. Box 458, Salunga, PA 17538-0458 earmarked for Partners in Evangelism.

Edward Gibson

Edward Wayne Gibson, 53, of Duluth,Minn. died Wednesday, May 19, 2004, at his residence. He was born to Claudia Rolin and Julius McGhee on February 17, 1951. Gibson was employed by Reach-All in Duluth for 18 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claudia Rolin and Julius McGhee, and two brothers, Garland Smith and Jimmy Rolin.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Alice; daughter, Carrie Gibson; son, Shane and wife Liz Hall; eight sisters, Barbara and husband Terry House, Jackie, Charlotte, Marsha Ann, Rose, Julie, Robyn and Chrissy; two brothers, Jack Allen and Buddy; four grandchildren, Samantha, Cory, Natasha and Kyler, and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Bruno and Betty Tomesch.

Memorial service will be held at Poarch Creek Stomp Grounds at 10 a.m., Sunday, June 20.

Cremation Society of Minnesota is in charge of arrangements.

Ethel Cole

Mrs. Ethel Cole died Friday, June 11, 2004, at Atmore Community Hospital. Cole was a native of Escambia County, Ala. and a resident of Atmore for most of her life. She was a member of Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Atmore where she served as a member of the Usher's Board, member of the Sunday School, Trustee Board, Missionary Society and the Decorating Committee. She was a member of the Garden Club, the Cemetery Committee for Atmore, served on the Executive Board for the Atmore Family Life Center and she was the Secretary of the NAACP Group. She was a housewife and homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dr. I. S. Cole; her daughter, Olivia Thompson; her parents, Pearl James and Lula Singleton; five sisters, Corine Singleton, Addie Carvin, Minni Womack, Marie McCullen and Geraldine Crowell and two brothers, James Singleton and Robert Singleton.

She is survived by three daughters, Shirley and husband Joseph Turner of San Francisco, Calif., Barbara Cole and husband Kenneth Moore of Cocoa, Fla. and Vivian and husband Tommy Shanklin of Chicago, Ill.; one brother, Crimpton and wife Inez Singleton of Eutaw; two sisters-in-law, Darcus Singleton of Pensacola and Willie Singleton of Atmore; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel on Friday. The family hour will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Her body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Funeral services will be held at Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 19, with Dr. A. L. Durant Sr., Eulogist and Rev. Willie Hawthrone officiating. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be the Deacons, Trustee Board and Usher Board Members. Flower bearers will be the Garden Club, the Usher Board and Trustee members.
