William Hayes
PORT ARTHUR, Texas - William “Dub” Hayes, 87, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 2010 at Christus St. Mary Hospital.
He was born on Oct. 14, 1923 in Excel to Eugene and Martha Asberry Hayes. “Dub” was a resident of Port Arthur for the past 57 years. He was a master mechanic with over 50 years of service. “Dub” served our country during WWII in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Moale as a gunner. He was of the Baptist faith and an avid fisherman.
His parents and a son, W. Phillip Hayes preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Hayes of Port Arthur; daughters, Linda Rogas of Mauriceville, Deborah and husband, Buddy Miller of Fort White, Fla.; son, Michael and wife, Natalie Hayes of Westlake, La.; daughters, Sharon Hayes of Alachua, Fla., Janet and husband, Perry Wallace of Nederland, Texas, Nancy and husband, Dennis Lively of Orange, Texas and Lori Gallier of Hamshire, Texas; sisters, Carrie Jay and Annie Jean Davis, both of Uriah; sister-in-law, Hazel and husband, Glen Morgan of Brandon, Miss.; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 12 noon Friday, Nov. 19, 2010 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral home.

James Hamilton
ATMORE - James Mitchell “Pooh Bear” Hamilton, 42, of Atmore was promoted to Heaven after a long battle with cancer on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010 at his home surrounded by family and friends.
He worked in the construction industry, specializing as a crane operator. He was born on Nov. 21, 1967 in Homestead, Fla. to James David and Lena Madene Harvill Hamilton. He loved fishing, hunting and was an avid Crimson Tide fan, “Roll Tide.” He attended McCullough Christian Fellowship.
Survivors include, his mother, Madene Hamilton of Atmore; his father, David Hamilton; three daughters, Hannah Griffis of Walnut Hill, Fla., Cassie Overstreet of Atmore and Madison Hamilton of Prattville; one son, David Hamilton of Prattville; one granddaughter, Olivia Griffis of Walnut Hill, Fla.; grandmother, Peggy Harvill of Atmore; two sisters, Sherry Hawkins of Atmore and Sandy Mooney of Stockton; one brother, David Michael “Mike” Hamilton of Atmore; two aunts, Alene Colbert of Atmore and Peggy Joyce Maynard of Prattville and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010 from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Daniels and the Rev. Cornelius Phillips officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers will be David Holsonback, Kenneth Hadley, Ed Wooten, Clifton Buckhault, Jason Wall, Danny Burkett, James Hamilton and Rodney Brooks.
Family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday evening, Oct. 29, 2010 at Johnson-Quimby.

Juanita Williams Hubert-King
JACKSON - Juanita Williams Hubert-King, 81 years old, a retired cosmetologist and community activist expired Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2010 at the residence of her son, Ozelle in Jackson. She was the first born of ten children to the late James Autry Williams and Aline Knight Williams on March 29, 1929 in the North Atmore (Freemanville Community) Escambia County. She is a native of Freemanville, former resident of Whistler, later relocated to Sacramento, Calif. and in recent years returned to Alabama and resided in Jackson.
Her grandparents, Willie (Pearlie Mae Locke) Knight and Eddie (Victoria Knight) Williams Sr. also great grandparents, Daniel (Callie) Knight and Alfred (Cenia) Williams and the Rev. John Thomas “JT” (Retta Bolder) Knight of Finchburg (Monroe County); husbands, Walter Hubert (Herbert) and Marvin Lestr King; sisters, Geneva D. (late Arthur) Rivers and Ollie M. (late Joseph) Barnes; brothers, James (late Josephine) Williams, Leo (Birdie Mae) Williams, Joe Lee (Ellen Bernestine) Williams and Virgil (late Ina Darby) Peoples; sisters and brothers in laws, late Willie Mae H (late Robert) Booker, late Hillary (Ceola Williams) Hubert, late George H. (Mary Knight) Hubert and late Willie Dee Woods, fathers and mothers in laws, the late Percie (late Henry Lela Bell Ross) Hubert (Herbert) and the late Elder Johnny (late Cleva Rogers) King.
Survivors include five children, Ozelle Lewis Hubert (Herbert) Jackson, Nora Mae (Robert) Crawford of Clarkesville, Tenn., Margaret Louise Moore of Lathonia, Ga.; Charles Edward Hubert (Herbert) of San Francisco, Calif. and Helen D. Robinson of Mobile; a sister, Idell (Robert) Longmire of Atmore; three brothers, Leroy (Minnie) Williams of Atmore, Herman (Barbara) Williams of Detroit, Mich. and Willie Fred (Constance) Williams of Tacoma, Wash.; sisters and brothers in laws, Henry (Lula Williams) Hubert, Cleveland (Dorothy) Hubert, Lillian H. (late Don) Whittenberg and John (Creola Jones) King; longtime friends, Mrs. Christine Pouncy of Sacramento, Calif., Ms. Pauline Johnson Watkins of Baltimore, Md., Sis. Rosa Lee Clark of San Antonio, Texas and Sis. Jessie Mae Cox Moore of Los Angeles, Calif.; a beloved high school classmate, Mageline Pierce of Chicago, Ill. As we; as her dear cousin Paralee Williams Hudson-Lamar of Mobile and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, 2010 at the Full Gospel Apostolic Church of God in St. Stephens (Washington County) Bishop Theodore Law, founder and pastor. The Home going celebration services will begin be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010 at the Faith Tabernacle Holiness Church, North Atmore (Freemanville Community) (Escambia County) where Elder Edgar McCarty is the pastor. Interment will follow in Williams Family Cemetery.

Ella Ora Wiggins
PENSACOLA, Fla. - Ella Ora (Ellie) Wiggins, 84, passed away on Monday, Sept. 13, 2010.
Ellie spent her life as a devoted daughter, loving wife, mother of two strong men and also enjoyed the blessing of her two grandchildren.
Her husband of 62 years, Ray Wiggins; her infant son, Ronnie; her parents, Herman and Maggie Lomax Vickery and her daughter-in-law, Mickey Wiggins, preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are her siblings, Bernard, Andrew and Orval Vickery and Murvel Helton.
Miss Ellie was the owner of The Village Shop in Cantonment for more than 20 years and delighted in her role in helping many women, young and old, find the “perfect” outfit. She was a true Southern lady with an amazing flair for fashion. The two most valued parts of Ellie’s life were her faith in God and the love of family.
Survivors include two sons, Ricky Wiggins and wife, Becky, and Lamar Wiggins; two grandchildren, Curtis Wiggins and wife, Abby, and Carla Gilmore and husband, Jacob, and her loving sister, Eltra Mae “Sid” Etheridge who helped in raising Ellie after the death of their mother.
All her friends and family celebrated her life on Thursday, Sept.16, 2010. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service time at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Willis H. Jones
PALO ALTO, Calif. - Willis H. Jones slipped his earthly bonds Oct 14, 2010 in Palo Alto, Calif., where he ascended to God’s golden shore.
He was met there by his beloved wife Nina; dear daughters, Rebecca Corder and Denise Jackal; granddaughter, Denise Connell; his dear father and mother, John and Artince Jones; his brothers, Marshall and Robert Jones and his cherished sisters, Louise Dollins and Judy Jones.
He was born in Lotti, on Feb 3, 1927, and raised there with love. He graduated from Baldwin County High School, and upon graduation served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. When his tour of duty was complete, he enrolled at Auburn University, under the GI Bill. When he left Auburn, he went to Manhatten Beach Calif. and started his career with RTD, which he loved so very much. Upon retirement he took great comfort in his grandson, Eric Jones, who had been a son to him.
He leaves behind his daughter. Deidra Szymanski and her husband, Christopher; her sons, Eric and Keith; her daughter, Elise Fontenot; his brother, Stan Jones and sisters, Opal Smith, Betty Womack, Lois Sanderson and Maxine Lacey to mourn his great loss. Eric’s wife, Jenny, and their children, Zoie and Jesse James, will forever miss Grandpa. He had eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. That is a whole lot of love.
Willis was a good honest man who loved his family, worshiped the Lord and served his country with pride and dignity. He was our Hero. He was laid to rest on Thursday Oct 21, 2010 at the Arlington portion of Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Riverside, Calif. at 1 p.m. with full military honors.
Gladys Lucille Hicks
CENTURY, Fla. - Mrs. Gladys “Sug” Hicks, 94, of Century, Fla. transitioned into eternal rest on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2010 at her residence.
She was a native of Century, Fla. She attended Pilgrim Lodge Baptist Church for many years, where she was in the Missionary Society. She was also an Eastern Star.
Her mother, father, two sons, one sister, two brothers, her spouse, Sam Hicks and stepfather, Henry Barnwell, preceded her in death.
Those left to cherish her memories are three daughters, Betty Hicks, of Boston, Mass., Barbara Riles and Rose Helen King, both of Century, Fla. and one son, Peter Hicks of Boston, Mass.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010 at Pilgrim Lodge Baptist Church in Century, Fla. The Rev. Carter will be officiating. Retirement of her remains will be in the Century Cemetery in Century, Fla. with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC of Atmore officiating.
Tommie Lee Hampton
ATMORE - Mr. Tommie Lee Hampton, 57, of Atmore transitioned into eternal rest on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2010. He was a native of Atmore.
His father, Mr. Tommie Lee Hampton Sr.; mother, Mrs. Joyce Lee Hampton; grandparents, George Snell, Annie Bell Snell and John Henry Kidd and one brother, Gonzalez Hampton preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Pamela Hampton; two sons, Tommie (Tania) L. Hampton III of Glendale, Ariz. and Nakita D. Hampton of Atmore; one daughter, Valeria D. Hampton of Pensacola, Fla.; grandchildren, Destiny and Brianna of Glendale, Ariz. and Amya Micah of Pensacola, Fla.; one brother, Mr. Larry (Mattie) Hampton of Brewton; three sisters, Juanita, Arneita and Debra (Michael) James, all of Mobile and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at Turner Funeral Chapel.
William Samuel Pritchett
CENTURY, FLA. - William Samuel Pritchett, 85, of Century, Fla. died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010 in Jay, Fla.
He retired from International Paper Company in 1984, was born in Century, Fla. on Sept. 12, 1925 to the late Robert F. and Lucy V. Ridgeway Pritchett. He served in the Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War, also was a member of the First Baptist Church of Century and a resident of Century Care Center.
His two brothers, Hunter Pritchett and R.J. “Pete” Pritchett and two sisters, Estelle Pritchett and Edna White, preceded him in death.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Oct.18, 2010 in Green Acres Cemetery in Brewton with Jerry Keese officiating.
