Stacey Lykee Maye, 34, of Monroeville died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008 in Evergreen Medical Center in Evergreen.
Maye is a native of Uriah and lived in Monroe County all of her life. She was a 1991 graduate of J.U. Blacksher High School. She was a homemaker and a member of Grove Hill Baptist Church in Uriah where she worked as a matron, in the missionary department and on the program committee.
Survivors include her husband, Tony Maye Sr.; her father, Walter Barnes of Uriah; one son, Tony Lamar Maye II of Uriah; and one sister, Virginia Dale of Monroeville.
Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 11 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Penn’s Chapel. Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 12 at 2 p.m. at Grove Hill Baptist Church in Uriah with Rev. T.L. Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

George Lee Nash
Jones Unity Funeral Home, Monroeville
George Lee Nash, 54, of Peterman died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007 at Monroe County Hospital.
Nash was a native and lifelong resident of Monroe County. He was employed as a carpenter with Gate Precast of Monroeville and a member of Amity Baptist Church of Peterman.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Nash of Peterman; two sons, Derrick (Yteka) Nash of Atlanta, Ga. and Mark Dailey of Monroeville; five daughters, Tammie Jackson of Monroeville, Tameka (Casey) Sutton of Texas, Alexis Nash of Peterman, Stacy (Timothy) Weatherspoon of Bamberg, Germany and Kawanna Salter of Atlanta; four brothers, Donald Fountain, Sylvester Bivins, Jerome Bivins and Rodney Bivins, all of Mexia; three sisters, Angela (Aaron) Chaney, Gwendolyn (Terry) Andrews and Cathy (Bobby) Horn, all of Mexia; and 15 grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. at Amity Baptist Church of Peterman with Rev. Lark, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in New Chapel Cemetery in Mexia.

Ruby P. Scott
Penn’s Funeral Home, Monroeville
Ruby P. Scott, 98, of Limestone died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008 in Englewood Nursing Home.
Scott was a native of Monroeville and a lifelong resident of Monroe County. She worked at Jackson Laundry and Monroe County Hospital as a housekeeper until she retired. She was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church where she was a choir member and a deaconess in the church.
Survivors include three sons, John Scott of Frisco City, Leroy Scott and Hudson Scott, both of Monroeville; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, Jan. 7 at Morning Star Baptist Church in Monroeville with Rev. John O. Malone officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Claude S. Wiggins
Johnson Funeral Home, Monroeville
Claude S. Wiggins, 78, of Monroeville died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008 at the Bryan Whitfield Memorial Hospital in Demopolis.
Wiggins was a native of Franklin and had resided in Monroeville for most of his life. He was a foreman for the Monroe County Road Department.
Survivors include one son, Gene Wiggins of Thomasville; two daughters, Cathy Porterfield of Linden and Cindy Gardner of Foley; two brothers, Jimmy Wiggins of Grove Hill and Robert Wiggins of Wetumpka; two sisters, Cammie Wiggins of Selma and Annie Everette of Mobile; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services were held Saturday, Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Darby officiating. Burial followed in Mexia Cemetery.

Elliott “Cotton” Adams
Johnson Funeral Home, Monroeville
Elliott “Cotton” Adams, 80, of Monroeville died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008 at his home.
Adams was a lifelong resident of Monroeville and had been an equipment operator for a construction company.
Survivors include two daughters, Billie Ryder and Linda Luker, both of Monroeville; one sister, Betty Donald of Monroeville; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday, Feb. 7 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Sheffield officiating. Burial followed in Mexia Cemetery.

Spc. Erik R. Beem
Monroe Chapel, Monroeville
Spc. Erik R. Beem, 21, of Excel died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008 in Mobile.
Beem was a lifelong resident of Excel and a member of Excel Baptist Church. He graduated from Excel High School in 2004 and worked as an operator for Rocky Creek Lumber Company. He was enlisted with the Army National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wayne Sawyer.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Alisa S. and Tim Standridge of Excel; his father and stepmother, Russell C. and Audrey Beem of Dunnellon, Fla.; a half-brother, Logan Beem of St. Albans, Vt.; a step-brother, Timothy Standridge of Excel; two step-sisters, Amanda Dixon and Alicia White, both of Dunnellon; his grandparents, Dinah Sawyer of Monroeville and Anthony and Delores Elvas of Vero Beach, Fla.; his step-grandparents, Ray and Louise Standridge of Birmingham and Dominic and Josephine Pugliese of Dunnellon.
Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 10 a.m. at Monroe Chapel with Rev. Wayne McMillian and Rev. Q.T. Curtis officiating. Burial followed Mexia Cemetery in Mexia.
Memorials may be made to the Monroe Health Foundation Diabetic Support Program or Cancer Treatment Center, P.O. Box 886, Monroeville, AL. 36461.

Rev. Ernest Sullivan Brown Sr.
Penn’s Funeral Home, Monroeville
Rev. Ernest Sullivan Brown Sr., 64, of Pensacola, Fla. died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008 in Baptist Hospital in Pensacola.
Brown is a native of Perdue Hill and lived in Monroe County most of his youth. He graduated from Perdue Hill Industrial School and also attended Selma University and Pensacola Junior College. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Rolanease Bradley-Brown of Monroeville; three sons, Ernest S. Brown Jr. of Rhode Island, Curtis T. Brown of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Neal Brown of Pensacola; one daughter, Taris K. Brown-Huff of Monroeville; one step-daughter, Bridgett Brown of Huntsville; one brother, Willie H. Brown of Daphne; three sisters, Bernice Robinson of Penbleton, Ind., Anne R. Brown and Ethel Parris of Bronx, N.Y,; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Penn’s Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 16 at 2 p.m. Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Perdue Hill with Rev. Osbry Millender officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Willie Douglas Cobb
Monroe Chapel, Monroeville
Willie Douglas Cobb, 68, of Excel died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008 in Monroe County Hospital.
Cobb was a lifelong resident of Monroe County and was a member of Full Gospel Revival Center.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Cobb of Excel; two sons, Wayne Cobb of Lenox and Willie Cobb of Mexia; three daughters, Mary Lou Parmer and Mary Ann Cobb, both of Monroeville and Theresa Cobb of Excel; two sisters, Carol Coleman of Frisco City and Ruby Williams of Monroeville; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 14 at 11 a.m. at Monroe Chapel with Rev. Mike Skipper and Sister Mary Watford Stabler officiating. Burial will follow in Excel Cemetery in Excel.

Brent Bernard Lamar
Penn’s Funeral Home, Monroeville
Brent Bernard Lamar, 42, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008.
Lamar was born in Frisco City and attended Frisco City High School. He was a member of Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael.
Survivors include his mother, Mittie Nix; one brother, Willie Revert Lamar of Frisco City; and two sisters, Patsy Darlene McCarthy of Pensacola, Fla. and Nicola (Robert) Costic of Frisco City.
Services were held Saturday, Feb. 9 at 12 noon at Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church. Burial followed in McConnico Cemetery in Perdue Hill.

Jerry Lett
Penn’s Funeral Home, Monroeville
Jerry Lett, 62, of Tunnel Springs died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008 at his home.
Lett was a native of Tunnel Springs and had lived in Monroe County most of his life. He worked with Harrigan Lumber as a logger and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Survivors include one brother, Lewis Lett of Moss Point, Miss.; and four sisters, Thelma Lett of Tunnel Springs, Eliza Harris of Burnt Corn, Charsetta Brown of Monroeville and Gloria Coleman of Nashville, Tenn.
Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Tunnel Springs with Rev. Whalen Oliver officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

O’Neal A. McKinley
Mack Funeral Home, Robertsdale
O’Neal A. McKinley, 74, of Loxley died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008.
McKinley was a native of Excel and was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn J. “Nita” McKinley of Loxley; two daughters, Virginia Carol Thomaston of Bay Minette and Patricia Faye McDaniel of Robertsdale; one son, James Wesley “Butch” Shaddix of Pensacola, Fla.; three sisters, Augustine Wiggins and Evelyn Smith, both of Frisco City and Frances Moxness of Atmore; one brother, James McKinley of Frisco City; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sunday, Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. at Mack Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Silverhill Cemetery in Silverhill.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Robertsdale.
