Velma Lucille Watford
Monroe Chapel, Frisco City
Velma Lucille Watford, 83, of Excel died Monday, March 8, 2010 at USA Medical Center in Mobile.
Watford, a native of Wilcox County, had lived in Monroe County most of her life. She worked with Vanity Fair as a lace separator for several years and had also worked at Ollie Supermarket and Excel Supermarket in the deli. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Ollie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Watford.
Survivors include two sons, James D. Watford and Mike Watford, both of Excel; one daughter, Lois Virginia Rowell of Excel; two brothers, Mack Girlie of Dover, Tenn. and Eugene Girlie of Selma; five sisters, Sadie Davis of Defiance, Ohio, Rosetta Nichols of Selma, Doris Durden of Birmingham, Fay McIntosh of Camden and May Fitts of Biloxi, Miss.; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 11 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 12 at 2 p.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Minister Perry Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Coleman Assembly of God Cemetery in Wildfork.

Lois C. Bentley
Johnson Funeral Home, Monroeville
Lois C. Bentley, 78, of Monroeville died Monday, April 5, 2010 at Monroe County Hospital.
Bentley was a native of Ocala, Fla. and had resided in Monroeville since July 1957. She was a teacher and librarian for 34 years and a member of the National Library Association, National Education Association and the Alabama Education Association. She was a member of the Monroeville First Baptist Church, a former choir member and former Brownie leader.
Survivors include her husband, James W. “Walt” Bentley of Monroeville; two daughters, Natholie (Cliff) Parker of Satsuma and Melissa (Dr. Ray) Merrill of Hoover; two sisters, Rose Mary Eastman of Houston, Texas and Kaye Fyke of Cocoa, Fla.; one brother, Michael Stanford of Green Cove, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Friday, April 9 at 11 a.m. at Pineville Cemetery in Monroeville with Rev. Micah Gandy and Rev. Glen Eubanks officiating.
Donations may be made to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home.

Barbara Wiggins Boothe
Monroe Chapel, Frisco City
Barbara Wiggins Boothe, 74, of Frisco City died Monday, April 5, 2010 at Mobile Infirmary.
Boothe was a lifelong resident of Monroe County. She was a member of Faith Chapel Assembly of God Church in Franklin. She worked with Vanity Fair as a sewing machine operator for many years.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna (Levon) Enzor of Frisco City; a brother, Billy Wiggins of Franklin; a sister, Iva Lee Turberville of Franklin; a step-son, Ronnie Boothe of Monroeville; and a grandson.
Services were held Wednesday, April 7 at 2 p.m. at Faith Chapel Assembly of God Church in Franklin with Sister Mary Watford Stabler and Sister Wanda Faye Fountain officiating. Burial followed in Corinth Deer Cemetery in Franklin.
The family is accepting flowers or memorials may be made to Faith Chapel Assembly of God Church in Franklin.

Paul Sterling DeRouen Jr.
Monroe Chapel, Frisco City
Paul Sterling DeRouen Jr., 65, of Franklin died March 31, 2010 at Mobile Infirmary.
DeRouen was a native of Selma. He worked as a diesel mechanic and was in the National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Ann DeRouen of Franklin; a son, Paul Anthony (Carey) DeRouen of Thomasville; a daughter, Paula (Mike) Cabaniss of Grove Hill; his father, Rev. W.C. Stabler of Franklin; three brothers, W.C. (Velma) Stabler of Saraland, James (Darlene) Stabler of Frisco City and Johnny (Linda) Stabler of Pine Hill; four sisters, Carol (David) Cole of Excel, Sarah Stacey of Monroeville, Blanche (Fred) Thompson of Sulligent and Rosemary (Sam) Fish of Demopolis; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, April 2 at 11 a.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Stabler and Rev. W.C. Stabler officiating. Burial followed in Springhill Baptist Cemetery in Franklin.

Bobbie Lee Griffin
Monroe Chapel, Frisco City
Bobbie Lee Griffin, 76, of Monroeville died Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Englewood Health Care Facility.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 9 at 10 a.m. at Southside Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Monroeville. Visitation will be Thursday, April 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Gloria Mae Parker
Jones Unity Funeral Home, Monroeville
Gloria Mae Parker, 51, of Monroeville died Saturday, April 3, 2010 at USA Hospital in Mobile.
Parker was a native of Conecuh County and a member of Centennial #2 Church in Repton.
Survivors include her common-law-husband, Johnny Bullard of Monroeville.
Services will be held Saturday, April 10 at 1 p.m. at Centennial #2 Church in Repton with Rev. Warrick Maye pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Donna Melton Dobbs Schneider
Radney Funeral Home, Mobile
Donna Melton Dobbs Schneider, 50, of Mobile died Friday, Feb. 19, 2010 in a Birmingham hospital.
Schneider was a native and lifelong resident of Mobile. She was a graduate of Greystone Christian School. She graduated from the University of South Alabama with a degree in marketing. She was a former member of Fulton Road Baptist Church and a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Lauren Michelle Dobbs and Caroline Ashley Dobbs, both of Mobile; her parents, Don and Eleanor Melton of Mobile; two brothers, Darrell W. (Cindy) Melton of Foley and Dennis J. Melton of Mobile; and her paternal grandmother, Alyne D. Coker of Goodway.
Services were held Tuesday, Feb. 23 at 12 noon from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Mobile. Burial followed in Pine Crest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.

Martha Lee Wiggins
Johnson Funeral Home, Monroeville
Martha Lee Wiggins, 85, of Frisco City died Thursday, April 1, 2010 in Monroeville.
Wiggins was a native of Dixons Mill and had resided in Frisco City for many years. She was an active member of the Frisco City First Baptist Church. She was co-owner of Builders Hardware, Wiggins Ready Mix Concrete and R.O. Wiggins Construction.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Ollie Wiggins; and a son, Ruben Ollie Wiggins Jr.
Survivors include five children, Ronald L. (Margaret) Wiggins of Frisco City, William A. (Sandy) Wiggins of Fairhope, Dixie E. (Austin) Bedsole of Pensacola, Fla., Edwin D. (Virginia) Wiggins of Andalusia and Ben J. Wiggins of Frisco City; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, April 3 at 2 p.m. at the Frisco City First Baptist Church with Rev. Mark McCullough officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Frisco City First Baptist Church.

Charlie Dickerson
Jones Unity Funeral Home, Monroeville
Charlie Dickerson, 88, of Monroeville died Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Monroe County Hospital.
Dickerson was a native and lifelong resident of Monroe County. He served in the US Army during World War II and was a retired machine operator for Frisco Manufacturing. He was a member of Daniel Baptist Church of Monroeville.
Survivors include four sons, Robert Dickerson, Joseph Dickerson, Mack Dickerson and Oscar Dickerson, all of Monroeville; four daughters, Rosemary Dotson of Glendale, Ariz., Charlie Mae Biggs of Detroit, Mich. and Gloria Sigler and Carolyn McMillian, both of Monroeville; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 15 at 2 p.m. at Daniel Baptist Church in Monroeville with Rev. Eugene Smith, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Patricia Ann Johnson
Monroe Chapel, Frisco City
Patricia Ann Johnson, 41, of Frisco City died Friday, May 7, 2010 at Monroe County Hospital.
Johnson was born in Ohio and had been a resident of Monroe County for 26 years. She worked with Harold Allen Mobile Homes in Atmore as a carpenter.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sheila Johnson.
Survivors include her father, Ausby Oliver of Ohio; her mother, Zelma Johnson of Frisco City; two sons, Patrick Johnson of Talladega and Frank (Monica Simon) Johnson of Frisco City; a daughter, MarQuita (Dustin Black) Johnson of Frisco City; four sisters, Doris Brown of West Virginia, Mary Johnson of Frisco City and Denise King and Sean Johnson, both of Monroeville; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 14 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Monroe Chapel in Frisco City. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 15 at 3 p.m. at New Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Mexia with President Greg Albritton officiating.
