Sadie Mae Nicholson, 84, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011.
Nicholson was born in Beatrice and lived in Repton. She was a member of the Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church and the Drewry Pride Chapter #597 O.E.S.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam Stallworth and Katie Hagan Lambert; her husband, Willie James Nicholson; and three children, William, Katie and James Edward.
Survivors include nine children, Grover (Velma) Nicholson, Fred Stallworth of Akron, Ohio, Johnny (Theresa) of Repton, Berine D. (Eugene) Betts of Repton, Robert (Marian) Nicholson of Repton, Glenn (Katrina) Nicholson of Monroeville, Gwen Hunter of Repton, Sam (Victoria) Nicholson of Belleville and Odessa (Rickey) Wallace of Repton; one sister, Annie Moore of Brewton; two brothers-in-law, Rev. Zebedee (Mary) Nicholson of Pensacola, Fla. and Rev. Jeff (Shelby) Leonard of Seattle, Wash.; a daughter-in-law, Catherine Nicholson of Akron; a son-in-law, Aaron Lee of Burnt Corn; 24 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. at Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church Repton with Rev. Derek Files, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

George Holman Dees Jr.
Brookside Funeral Home, Millbrook
George Holman Dees Jr., 68, of Deatsville died Friday, March 25, 2011 at his home.
Dees was a native of Repton and graduated from Repton High School and Troy State College. He was a member of the Repton Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie and George Dees Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Dees of Deatsville; daughters, Devlynne (Kelvin) Barnes of Monroeville, Yoby (Mark) Alexander of Orlando, Fla. and Amanda (Robert) Fragaso of Japan; sons, Colin (Jessica) Dees of Jacksonville, Fla., Tim Meads of Deatsville, Tony (Carla) Meads of Millbrook and Scott (Silena) Whaley of Texas; sisters, Martha Kendrick of Evergreen and Betty (Conrad) Booker of Evergreen; and 12 grandchildren.
Memorial services were on Monday, March 28 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Brookside Funeral Home with Rev. James Looney officiating.

Frankie Philpot Wilkerson
Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home, Greenville
Frankie Philpot Wilkerson, 94, of Camden died Sunday, March 27, 2011 at her home.
Wilkerson was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Wilkerson; a granddaughter, Beth Frankum; and a step-grandson, Harold Averitte.
Survivors include a daughter, Myra Jean Wilkerson of Camden; sons, Billy (Hazel) Wilkerson of Camden and Terry (Barbara) Wilkerson of Monroeville; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Monday, March 28 at 2:30 p.m. at Society Hill Cemetery with Elder Bobby Small officiating.

Carl W. Wilson
Cope Funeral Home, Evergreen
Carl W. Wilson, 76, of Evergreen died Sunday, March 27, 2011 at his home.
Wilson was born in Butler County and was a veterinarian.
Survivors include his wife, Selma Francis Wilson of Evergreen; two sons, Mike (Rhonda) Wilson of Evergreen and Tim (Wendy) Wilson of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Joy Wilson of Evergreen; two brothers, Calvin “Pete” Wilson of Molino, Fla. and Rickey Wilson of Atmore; two sisters, Glenda Harris of Cantonment, Fla. and Gloria Holcombe of Pensacola, Fla.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation was held Monday, March 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. A service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.

Harvey Elmore Bailey
Johnson Funeral Home, Monroeville
Harvey Elmore Bailey, 81, of Frisco City died Friday, April 22, 2011 at his home.
Bailey was a native and lifelong resident of Monroe County and a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Ollie Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Eugene Bailey; and a granddaughter, Katie Rowell.
Survivors include his wife, Lenora Bailey of Frisco City; two sons, Dale Bailey and Jeffery (Kay) Bailey, both of Frisco City; two brothers, Franklin “Bill” Bailey and Ivey E. “Shorty” Bailey, both of Mobile; two sisters, Faye Guy of Mobile and Ethel Stinson of Frisco City; and two grandsons.
Services were held Monday, April 25 at 1 p.m. from the Ollie Church of Christ with Perry Phillips officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Frisco City.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude or the special needs program for children at Monroeville Elementary School.

Patricia Dellsperger
Monroe Chapel, Frisco City
Patricia Dellsperger, 57, of Frisco City died Dec. 19, 2010 at her home.
Dellsperger was born in New Orleans, La. and had lived in Frisco City for the past 15 years. She attended Oak Grove Baptist Church in Frisco City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Edward Dellsperger and Delores Mexion Dellsperger; and one sister, Dianna Mareno.
Survivors include two sons, Steve (Dawn) Dellsperger and Adam Dellsperger, both of Mexia; one brother, Joseph Dellsperger of Mexia; one sister, Paula (Phil) Bryant of Mexia; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 1 at 2 p.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with guest speaker Phil Bryant. Burial is in Monroe Chapel Cemetery.

Davis L. Owens
Monroe Chapel, Frisco City
Davis L. Owens, 86, of Monroeville died Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at his home.
Owens was born in Conecuh County and had lived in Monroe County for 55 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Monroeville and Owens Chapel Methodist Church in Bermuda. He worked with Liberty National as an agent, with Monroe County Sheriff’s Department and as a rural route carrier with the United States Postal Service. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving from July 1943 to March 1946.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maye Jean Crum Owens; his wife, Ruby Owens; two sons, Tommy Owens and Phillip Owens; five brothers; and five sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Martha York and Becky Sadler, both of Monroeville; two stepdaughters, Renelia (Gerald) Stacey of Atmore and Ida Jean (William) Daw of Mexia; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Friday, April 22 at 2 p.m. at Belleville Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Johnson and Bro. Chris Owens officiating.

Rudolph Pugh Sr.
Pine Crest Funeral Home, Mobile
Rudolph Pugh Sr., 79, of Mobile died Sunday, April 17, 2011.
Pugh was born in the Dottelle Community and was a lifelong member of Limestone Faulk AME Zion Church. He was a professional roofer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Pugh; and a son, Tyson Pugh.
Survivors include his children, David Pugh, Carrie (Fletcher) Rivers and Johnnie (Christina) Pugh, of Columbus, Ohio, Pastor-Prophet Rudolph Pugh Jr., Gary (Ann) Pugh, Alean Smith and Lolita Pugh Westbrook; his brother, Tilmon (Eunice) Pugh; sisters, Betsy McMillan, Ozeal Brown and Barbara (Miller D.) Helton; one brother-in-law, Jimmie Eaton of Cleveland, Ohio; 21 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, April 23 at 12 noon at Pine Crest Funeral Home in Mobile with Pastor-Prophet Rudolph Pugh Jr., officiating. Burial followed in Pinecrest Cemetery in Mobile.

Guy Hartwell Sawyer Sr.
Monroe Chapel, Frisco City
Guy Hartwell Sawyer Sr., 90, of Frisco City died Saturday, April 23, 2011 at his daughter’s home in Brundidge.
Sawyer was born in Jones Mill and had lived in Brundidge for the past two years. He was a member of the Frisco City United Methodist Church and the Frisco City Senior Center. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II. He was a salesman and worked with the Co-op in Frisco City for several years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Earl Turk Sawyer.
Survivors include a son, Guy Hartwell Jr. of Brewton; a daugher, Margaret (Thomas “Bud”) Ross of Brundidge; a sister, Gayneil White of Goodway; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, April 25 at 2 p.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Lowell Thomas officiating. Burial followed in Union Cemetery in Frisco City.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Advantage in Troy, the United Methodist Church of Brundidge Choir Fund or the Frisco City United Methodist Church.

Hattie “Ms. B” Stallworth
Jones Unity Funeral Home, Monroeville
Hattie “Ms. B” Stallworth, 80, of Monroeville died Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Providence Hospital.
Stallworth was a lifelong resident of Monroe County and was a private home housekeeper. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church Peterman where she served as a former secretary and president of the choir.
Survivors include three sons, Leo Stallworth Jr. of Monroeville and James and Thomas Stallworth, both of Peterman; four daughters, Lillie Cunningham, Bessie McWilliams and Brenda Stallworth, all of Monroeville and Mary Etheridge of Compton, Ga.; three brothers, Leslie Smith of Compton and Len Smith and Jim Smith, both of Monroeville; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held Friday, April 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Jones Unity Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30 at 2 p.m. at New Birth Pentecostal Church Monroeville with Rev. Corey Morrow officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery Natchez.

Willie Strong
Penn’s Funeral Home, Monroeville
Willie Strong, 83, of Drewry died Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Atmore Community Hospital in Atmore.
Strong was a native of Drewry and lived most of his life in Monroe County. He was a member of Monroe Beluah Baptist Church Monroeville.
Survivors include two sisters, Betsy Milton of Los Angeles, Calif. and Mattie Anderson of Ohio.
Visitation will be Friday, April 29 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Penn’s Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 30 at 11 a.m. at Monroe Beluah Baptist Church Monroeville with Rev. Willie Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Jones Unity Funeral Home, Monroeville
Eula Mae Washington, 86, of Monroeville died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Monroe County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 1 at 2 p.m. at Mars Hill Baptist Church Monroeville with Rev. Osbry Millender, pastor, officiating.
