Funeral for Thomas Louie Gatlin was held Tuesday, April 22, 2 p.m., at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Haney and Brian Terry officiating.

Burial was in Hester Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Gatlin died Sunday, April 20, 1997, at his residence.

He was born in Limestone County to Evie Gatlin of Elkmont and the late Osbon Gatlin.

Other survivors include his wife, Martha Gatlin; one son, Jeremy Gatlin of Athens; eight daughters, Rose Campbell, Angela Campbell, Amy Green and Tammy Smith, all of Athens, Charlotte Alsup of Minor Hill, Tenn., Katrina Eskridge of Searcy, Ark., Tina Rich of New Market and Marianna Gatlin of Pleasant Grove; his mother, Evie Gatlin of Elkmont; four brothers, Allen Gatlin of Priceville, Larry Gatlin of Anderson, Tim Gatlin of Hillsboro and Billy Gatlin of Madison; five sisters, Judy Terry of Athens, Barbara Harvey of Anderson, Mickie Wales of Ardmore, Pam Cox of Elkmont and Sue Farris of Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Pallbearers were Jerry Terry, Harold Harvey, Jackie Wales, Billy Farris, Thomas Reed and Ray Cox.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Athens.

Mattie L. Lee

74, retired nurse, Moulton

Funeral for Mattie L. Lee was held on Wednesday, April 16, noon, at Freeman Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Rev. H. N. Snodgrass officiating.

Burial was in the Moulton Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Lee died Thursday, April 10, 1997, at her home.

She was born in Lawrence County. Mrs Lee was a member of Freeman Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she served on the Missionary Society. She was a nurse at Lawrence County Hospital for 35 years.

Survivors include her husband, Collis Lee; one daughter, Ola Echols of Flint, Mich.; two brothers, James A. Gibson and O'Neal Gibson, both of Cleveland, Ohio; one sister, Hattie L. Lloyd of Moulton; and two granddaughters.

Pallbearers were Ed Pruitt, Bill Lee, Melvin Lee, Nathaniel Lee, Garry Hubbard and Willie Gibson.

Cora Lee Gholston

91, homemaker, Moulton

Funeral for Cora Lee Gholston, who died Saturday, April 12, 1997, at National Healthcare Center in Moulton, was held Thursday, April 17, noon, at Town Creek No. 1 Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Swoopes officiating.

Burial was in the Landersville Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing.

She was born in Lawrence County and was a member of Town Creek No. 1 Baptist Church. Mrs. Gholston had lived at National Healthcare Center for 24 years.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Gholston of Landersville and Cecil Gholston of Decatur; one daughter, Almetia Echols of Moulton; two brothers, Johnny Jackson and Fernando Jackson, both of Landersville; two sisters, Almetra Stephenson of Landersville and Vivian Brown of Russellvile; 19 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Posey Gholston, Billy Gholston, Jerry Gholston, Steve Jackson, Gary Hubbard and Patrick Sharpley.

Rev. Thomas Fuqua III

77, minister of Zion Baptist Church, Town Creek

Funeral for the Rev. Thomas Fuqua III, who died Monday, April 14, 1997, at his residence, was held Saturday, April 19, noon, at Red Bank Baptist Church in Town Creek with the Rev. Thomas Parks officiating.

Burial was in Fuqua Cemetery with Thompson and Son Funeral Home of Florence directing.

He was born in Lawrence County and was minister of Zion Baptist Church in Florence for 34 years. Rev. Fuqua was the widower of Alene Goode Fuqua.

He is survived by eight sons, Lieutenant Fuqua of Chattanooga, Tenn., M. C. Fuqua and S. T. Fuqua, both of Decatur, Lawrence Fuqua, Cleoney Fuqua and Lynnwood Fuqua, all of Town Creek, Samuel B. Fuqua of Fort Benning, Ga. and Joe Fuqua of Las Vegas, Nev.; five daughters, Gleora Jones of Decatur, Jean Pearson and Hattie Kinney, both of Town Creek, Laxie Clark and Priscilla Mitchell, both of Irving, N.J.; 40 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Deacons of Zion Baptist were the pallbearers.

Elvin Louis Bolan

75, retired painter, Jasper

Funeral for former Moulton resident, Elvin Louis Bolan, was held Tuesday, April 22, 2 p.m., at Elliott Funeral Home chapel with Wallace Owens officiating.

Burial was in the Providence Cemetery.

Mr. Bolan died Sunday, April 20, 1997, in Jasper.

Survivors include his wife, Julia Bolan; one daughter, Carolyn Hugley of Muscle Shoals and two stepdaughters, Jewell Brooks of Jasper and Freda Hall of Prattville; two sons, Dale Bolan and Donald Bolan, both of Decatur and one stepson, Eudon Bailey of Moulton; a sister, Lucy Mae Conti; one grandchild; and four stepgrandchildren.

Pallbearers were Brian Hill, Jeff Hill, Bryan Hill, Waylon Hugley, Buddy Cole and Bobby Bolan.

James Parker

83, Town Creek

Funeral arrangements for James Parker, who died Tuesday, April 22, 1997, at Shoals Medical Center, will be announced by Lawrence Funeral Home.

Anna Belle Etheredge Neal

73, retired postmaster, Town Creek

Funeral services for Anna Belle Etheredge Neal were held Wednesday, April 30, 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Town Creek with the Revs. Charles Richards, Sandra Locke-Godbey and Phil Russell officiating.

Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery in Town Creek with Shelton Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Neal died Monday, April 28, 1997, at Decatur General Hospital.

She was born in Town Creek to S. J. "Ginn" and Velma Scott Green Etheredge. Mrs. Neal was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Carroll Neal. She was a life long member of the First Baptist Church of Town Creek, where she taught Sunday school for over fifty years. Mrs. Neal also taught Community Women's Bible Study at her home for several years. She was past president of the Alabama Postmasters Association, past president of the National Association of Postmasters of the United States, and was chaplain for the Alabama Postmasters Association. Mrs. Neal was runner-up Alabama Mother of the Year in 1981 and was president of the Hazlewood Alumni Scholarship Fund.

She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Bolling-Harrison and Karen Neal Hughes, both of Town Creek and Linda Neal Beason of Ozark, Missouri; one brother, James H. Etheredge of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; one great-grandson; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Steve Bolling, Tim Bolling, Scott Brackin, Gabriel Beason, Seth Hughes and Danny Wayne Hughes.

Honorary pallbearers were members of Anna Belle's Sunday school class.

The family request memorials be made to the Hazlewood Alumni Scholarship Fund, 1649 Fussell Street, Town Creek, AL 35672.

Jack Harold White

39, truck driver, Moulton

Funeral for Jack Harold White, who died Monday, April 14, 1997, in an 18-wheeler accident in Tuscaloosa County, was held Thursday, April 17. The 1:30 p.m. service was held in Bolingbrook, Illinois at Hillcrest Funeral Home.

Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Bolingbrook.

Mr. White was born in Bolingbrook and had lived in Moulton for the past 18 years.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. And Mrs. Harold White of Bolingbrook; one son, Christopher White of Moulton; two daughters, Rolnick of Joulet, Ill., Rhonda White and Dana White, both of Bolingbrook.

O. D. Sewell

75, retired mechanic, Moulton

O. D. Sewell died Thursday, April 24, 1997, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Birmingham.

The funeral was held Saturday, April 26, 2 p.m., at Moreland Baptist Church with the Rev. Rex Riddle officiating.

Burial was in the Moreland Cemetery with Elliott Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Sewell was born in Winston County to Thomas and Minnie Wilkins Sewell. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene Sarah Sewell; one daughter, Jacqueline Burgess of Hartselle; one sister, Violet Gaither of Houston; three grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Johnnie Burgess, Heath Burgess, Hollis Gaither, Darell Gaither, Donnie Gaither and Timmy Gaither.

James Thomas Parker

83, Town Creek

James Thomas Parker died Tuesday, April 22, 1997, at Medical Center Shoals.

The funeral was held Thursday, April 24, 2 p.m., at Bethany Baptist Church with the Rev. Phil Waldrep officiating.

Burial was in the Blackground Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Parker was born in Lawrence County. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and a member of Masonic Lodge #361 Town Creek.

Survivors include two sons, Winford Parker and James Loveral Parker, both of Town Creek; a daughter, Ruby White of Town Creek; a sister, Mable Murray of Decatur; 12 grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Masons of Town Creek Lodge #361 were the pallbearers.

Nicholas "Nik" Christopher Nelson Wunsch

7, Priceville School student, Decatur

Funeral for Nicholas "Nik" Christopher Nelson Wunsch, who died Saturday, April 26, 1997, in Decatur, was held Tuesday, April 29. The 2 p.m. service was held at Shelton Funeral Home chapel with Mark Posey officiating.

Burial was in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.

He was born in Decatur and was in the first grade.

He is survived by his parents, Chris and Elaine Wunsch; one brother, Tilo Wunsch of Decatur; a half brother, Joseph Ray of Decatur; his grandparents, Pete and Barbara Wunsch of Decatur, Gladys Looney and Roger Looney, both of Falkville; and his great-grandfather, Lois Hitt of Hillsboro.

Pallbearers were Greg Clark, Mark Clark, Jeff Clark, Richard Marsh, Fritz Wunsch and Rune Holm.
