Funeral for Ronald Lancaster, who died Friday, July 25, 1997, at Columbia Medical Center in Montgomery, was held Sunday, July 27. The 2 p.m. service was held at Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Rogers officiating.

Burial was in the Caddo Cemetery.

He was born in Lawrence County.

Survivors include one son, Jeremy Lancaster of Trinity; one daughter, Michelle Blaxton of Trinity; his mother, Ruby B. Lancaster of Moulton; one brother, Timothy Lancaster; two sisters, Karen Callahan of Danville and Vicky Dotson of Moulton; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Lancaster, Wayne Alexander, Lanier Sherrill, Mike Gillespie, Phil Lancaster, Danny Lancaster, Jamie Dotson and Joey Lancaster.

Josie Mae Randolph

85, seamstress, Oxford

Funeral for Josie Mae Randolph was held Tuesday, July 29, 2 p.m., at Elliott Funeral Home with the Revs. Charles Rickey and Bobby Randolph officiating.

Burial was in the Providence Cemetery in Town Creek.

Miss Randolph died Sunday, July 27, 1997, at Blount County Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Lawrence County.

Survivors include a brother, Hewlett Randolph of Gadsden; and two sisters, Icy Childs and Lassie Roden, both of Gadsden.

Nephews and cousins were the pallbearers.

Rayburn Smith

58, mechanic, Michigan

Rayburn Smith of Howell, Mich., died Sunday, July 20, 1997, at Greenery Nursing Home in Howell.

The funeral was held Wednesday, July 23, 11 a.m., at Swartz Funeral Home with the Rev. Grant H. Wessel officiating.

Burial was in the Crestwood Cemetery.

Mr. Smith was born in Russellville.

Survivors include two brothers, Edward Smith of Flint and Rachil Smith of Swartz Creek; two sisters, Earline Potter of Moulton and Shirley Parker of Decatur; several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.

Paul W. McCollum

74, retired grocery store owner, Mount Hope

Funeral for Paul W. McCollum, who died Tuesday, July 29, 1997, at Florence Hospital, was held Thursday, July 31. The 2 p.m. service was held at Parkway Funeral Home with the Rev. R. C. Borden officiating.

Burial was in the East Lawrence Memorial Gardens.

Mr. McCollum was born in Lawrence County. He was a veteran of World War II and owner of McCollum's Grocery Store in Landersville for more than 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha Lee Fisher McCollum; one daughter, Shirley Ann McCollum Hampton of Moulton; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Samuel Samson Gillespie

79, Moulton

Funeral for Samuel Samson Gillespie was held Sunday, August 3, 2 p.m., at Parkway Funeral Home with Dr. Darryl Wood and Rev. Christopher Byrd officiating.

Burial was in the Morris Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Gillespie died Friday, August 1, 1997, at Baptist Medical Center Princeton in Birmingham.

He was born in Lawrence County to George Washington Gillespie and Lucy Mae Sparks Gillespie. He was known as "Papa Sam." Mr. Gillespie was a member of East Lawrence Church of God.

He is survived by his wife, Esther McKinney Gillespie; four sons, George Thomas Gillespie, Marvin Joel Gillespie, Charles Edward Gillespie and Samuel Nixon Gillespie, all of Moulton; two daughters, McKinney Graham Breeding and Pamela Moses, both of Moulton; 15 grandchildren and four great- grandchildren.

Grandsons were the pallbearers.

Lanette Joan Stutts

35, homemaker, Trinity

Funeral for Lanette Joan Stutts, who died Thursday, July 31, 1997, at Parkway Medical Center Hospital from injuries sustained in an auto-mobile accident on Alabama 20, was held Sunday, August 3, 2 p.m. The service was held at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Elmer Rollins officiating.

Burial was in the New Center Cemetery in Brooksville.

Mrs. Stutts was born in Morgan County to Hollis and Jane Barber.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby L. Stutts; two sons, Tony Owens and Robert Stutts, both of Trinity; a daughter, Leslie Garrison of Russellville; her mother, Jane Terry of Decatur; her stepfather, Roy Terry of Decatur; three brothers, Mike Barber of Hartselle, Charlie Barber of Trinity and Jeff Barber of Decatur; and four sisters, Vickie Barber and Toni Barber, both of Decatur, Janette Barber of Ardmore, Tenn. and Carlene Hamilton of Hillsboro.

Pallbearers were Roy Terry, Allen Stewart, Robert Stutts, Stevie Ray, Robert Morgan and Don Chapman.

John Wesley "J. W." Kelsoe

80, retired blacksmith, Danville

Funeral for John Wesley "J. W." Kelsoe was held Friday August 1, 2 p.m., at Lebanon United Methodist Church in Speake with the Rev. Ted Agee officiating.

Burial was in the Lebanon Cemetery with Parkway Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Kelsoe died Wednesday, July 30, 1997, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center.

He was born in Lawrence County to Dr. Will Kelsoe and Lizzie Kelsoe. Mr. Kelsoe was also a retired school bus driver. He was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church.

He is survived by one Stepson, Ralph Price of Montgomery; two stepdaughters, Patricia Moss of Decatur and Linda Hutson of Hartselle; four brothers, Leldon Kelsoe, Quinton Kelsoe and Bill Kelsoe, all of Speake and Calvin Kelsoe of Falkville; and one sister, Mavis Vernon of Speake.

Pallbearers were Steve Kelsoe, Ronnie Kelsoe, Todd Kelsoe, Mike Kelsoe, Darrell Vernon, Tim Gray and Ray Stevenson.

Nancy Virginia Treakle

60, housewife, Somerville

Nancy Virginia Treakle died Thursday, July 31, 1997, at Decatur General Hospital.

The funeral was held Sunday, August 3, 2 p.m., at Somerville Church of God with Rev. Jenkins officiating.

Burial was in the Somerville Church of God Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.

She was born in Cullman to Doyle and Mary Etta Bell Waters. Mrs. Treakle was a member of Somerville Church of God.

She is survived by her husband, William Treakle; two sons, Tony Waters and Jason Treakle both of Somerville; two daughters, Penny Waters and Cynthia Anderson, both of Somerville; one sister, Louise Winchester of Moulton; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Friends and family were the pallbearers.

Melvin W. Johnson

79, retired plumber, Hamilton

Former Moulton resident, Melvin W. Johnson, died Tuesday, August 5, 1997, in a Birmingham Hospital.

The funeral was held Friday, August 8, 1 p.m., at Grays Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Greenhill with Larry Crumpton officiating.

Burial was in the Shiloh Cemetery with Akins Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Johnson was an Alabama native and was retired from UA Local 23 Plumbers and Pipefitters, Rockford, Ill. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of New Liberty Grove Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary E. Johnson; two sons, Larry Johnson of Hamilton and Gary R. Johnson of Tuscumbia; two daughters, Mary J. Lingelbach of Hatton and Alice F. Adams of Iuka, Miss.; three sisters, Ruby Watson of Greenhill, Eula White of Rockford, Ill. and Lena Burrow of Five Points, Tenn.; 21 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Hanvy, Ralph Lingelbach, Scott Lingelbach, Mike Johnson, Carl Johnson and Jerry Biggerstaff.

Golia Jeffreys Beck

94, homemaker, Hatton

Funeral for Golia Jeffreys Beck was held Wednesday, August 13, 2 p.m., at Calvary Baptist Church with the Revs. Mike Blackburn and Milton Burks officiating.

Burial was in the Providence Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Beck died Sunday, August 10, 1997, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Lawrence County to Jack and Ida Bell Jeffreys. Mrs. Beck was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Beck.

Survivors include three sons, John Vernon Beck, Rudy Beck and Rayburn Beck, all of Hatton; two daughters, Juanita Blackburn of Birmingham and Joyce Tatum of Florence; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Vance Blackburn, Ronald Beck, Jason Beck, Mark Tatum, Nathan Beck and Joseph Simmons.
