William Henry Joseph Ervin Sparks

Funeral for William Henry Joseph Ervin Sparks was held Monday, September 8, 11 a.m., at Moss-Terry Funeral Home chapel in Cullman with the Revs. Willie Kitchens and Barbara Trussell officiating.

Burial was in the Crossroads Cemetery.

Mr. Sparks died Friday, September 5, 1997, in an automobile accident in Lawrence County.

He was born in Winston County and worked for a mobile home industry. Mr. Sparks was engaged to Leigh Ann Cooper of Courtland.

He is survived by one son, Zackery Allen Sparks of Logan; one daughter, Courtney Shea Cooper Sparks of Courtland; his parents, Cle and Linda Sparks of Panama; one brother, Allen Sparks of Panama; one sister, Rena Watson of Simcoe; and his grandfather, Doyle Trussell of Blackground.

William "Bill" Reynolds

72, retired wrecker service operator, Moulton

Funeral for William "Bill" Reynolds was held Sunday, September 7, 2 p.m., at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenard DeVaney officiating.

Burial was in the Tishomingo City Cemetery in Tishomingo, Miss.

Mr. Reynolds died Friday, September 5, 1997, at Medical Center Shoals in Muscle Shoals.

He was born in Tishomingo, was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and recipient of the Purple Heart, a resident of Moulton for 20 years, retired from 157 Wrecker Service and was a member of Sandhill Independent Church.

Survivors include his wife, Estelle Reynolds; three sons, William Reynolds of North Carolina, Roy Reynolds and Troy Reynolds, both of Memphis; two daughters, Brenda Reynolds Hill of Ripley, Miss. and Tanya Swindle of Henderson, Tenn.; six stepchildren; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and stepgrandchildren.

Pallbearers were Norman Willis, Chad Swindle, Mike Hill, Jim Day, Shane Hill and Corey Hill.

Lula Mae Moats Beaver

82, Town Creek

Lula Mae Moats Beaver died Sunday, September 7, 1887, in Huntsville.

The funeral was held Wednesday, September 10, 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church in Town Creek.

Burial was in the Donald Cemetery.

She was a life long resident of Lawrence County and a member of First Baptist Church of Town Creek.

Survivors include a son, Lilbern Beaver Jr. of Town Creek; a brother, Earl Moats; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Hubert W. Blankenship

76, retired T.V.A., Hatton

Funeral for Hubert W. Blankenship was held Monday, September 8, 1997, 2 p.m., at Cave Springs Freewill Baptist Church with the Revs. Jerry Strickland, Ron Edgil and Amos Hood officiating.

Burial was in the Union Hill Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Blankenship died Saturday, September 6, 1997, at Carraway Methodist Hospital in Birmingham.

He was born in Lawrence County, was a member of Cave Springs Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Eva Blankenship; two sons, Jerreld Blankenship of Moulton and Tim Blankenship of Hatton; a daughter, Euvone Clemmons of Hatton; a brother, D. C. Blankenship of Hatton; four sisters, Julia Smith, Edith Coleman and Reba McNairy, all of Hatton and Myrtle Terry of Sheffield; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Grandsons were the pallbearers.

Bertha Clezelle McGregor

78, homemaker, Town Creek

Funeral for Bertha Clezelle McGregor was held Wednesday, September 10, 2 p.m., at Bethany Baptist Church with Mike McCulloch officiating.

Burial was in the Blackground Cemetery with Elliott Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. McGregor died Monday, September 8, 1997, at Helen Keller Hospital.

She was born in Lawrence County to Mary Patterson and Thomas M. Burden. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and Order of Eastern Star #249.

Survivors include her husband, Ben McGregor; two daughters, Shirley Carpenter of Town Creek and Opal Givens of Arley; two sisters, Lillie Simmons of Leighton and Kathleen Johnson of Muscle Shoals; two brothers, Hubert Burden and Ray Burden, both of Leighton; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Leonard Lovelady, Willis Lansdell, Willard Parker, Wayman Bain, Thanial Burden and Cleavon Burden.

Maybelle P. Murray

75, Decatur

Funeral for Maybelle P. Murray, who died Tuesday, September 9, 1997, in Decatur, is today (Thursday) September 11. The 2 p.m. service is to be at Roselawn Funeral Home chapel in Decatur with the Rev. Brooks Barkley officiating.

Burial is to be in the Providence Cemetery in Lawrence County.

She was born in Lawrence County and was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Decatur. She was a volunteer with the American Cancer Association.

Survivors include her husband, William Murray; two sons, Wayne Murray of Decatur and Donnie Murray of Hartselle; a daughter, Betty Mills of Huntsville; and a grandchild.

Pallbearers include Harold Holland, Dave Dobbs, Pat Baggett, Loyd Phillips, Malcolm Nesmith and Willie Sullivan.

Burial was in Sheffield Oakwood Cemetery.

She was a member of South Highland Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Venson McCreless; three daughters, Libby Green of Florence, Denise Moore of Trinity and Shelia Behel of Killen; two sisters, Rachael Posey of Tuscumbia and Reeper Halbrook of Moulton; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Rodney McCreless, Joey Peters, David green, Dan Inman, Marty Green and Carl White.

Vernelle Garrison

Funeral for Vernelle Garrison, who died Saturday, September 13, 1997, at Carraway Burdick Wast Medical Center in Haleyville, was held Tuesday, September 16. The 2 p.m. service was held at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde Goodlett officiating.

Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery.

She was born in Hackleburg and was a member of Owen Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Greg Garrison; two brothers, Doyle Hamby and James Hamby, both of Haleyville; and two sisters, Oma De Prosteris of Hackleburg and Louise Harbor of Georgia,

Nephews were the pallbearers.

Grace Belmont Hurst

Funeral for Grace Belmont Hurst was held Tuesday, September 16, 2 p.m., at Elliott Funeral Home with Gary Carter Sr. officiating.

Burial was in the Moulton Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Hurst died Saturday, September 13, 1997, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center.

She was born in Trenton, N.J. Mrs. Hurst was part owner of Rainbow Drive-In and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She occasionally visited Hillsboro Heights Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, William D. Hurst; two sons, Will Hurst and Tom Hurst, both of Hillsboro; a daughter, Grace B. Hurst of Oregon; and a grand-daughter.

Pallbearers were Will Hurst, Alton Brannon, Frank Holderfield, Travis Wadsworth, Loyd Glenn and Clyde King.

Sue A. Suski

80, City of Chicago employee, Chicago

Sue A. Suski died Tuesday, September 9, 1997, at Chicago Holy Cross Hospital.

The funeral was held Saturday, September 13, at Immaculate Conception Church in Chicago with burial at St. Casimir Cemetery in Chicago.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan Mayer of Chicago; three sons, Richard Suski and David Suski, both of Town Creek and William Suski of Hartselle, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; and a brother, John Cebat of Port Richey, Fla.
