Funeral for Adess Hill Pittman, who died Tuesday, December 2, 1997, at Northwest Medical Center, Russellville, was held Friday, December 5. The 11 a.m. service was held at Lawrence Funeral chapel with Rev. Hollis Rutherford officiating.

Burial was in the Moulton Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Pittman was an Alabama native and the widow of George Hill. She was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, Bobby Joe Hill of Hillsboro; a daughter, Mary Katherine Byars of Mount Hope; four brothers, Charlie Coburn, Moulton, Harley Coburn of Leighton, Jesse Coburn and Thomas Coburn, both of Georgia; two sisters, Ruby Russelle of Russellville and Mary Glover of Virginia; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Nephews were the pallbearers.

Helen Cohn

93, homemaker, Trinity

Funeral for Helen Cohn, who died Thursday, December 4, 1997, at South Morgan Health Care Center, was held Monday, December 8. The 1 p.m. service was held at Love Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Trinity with the Rev. Charles Dobbins officiating.

Burial was in the Trinity Mountain Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing.

She was born in Lawrence County to Jasper and Lela Hood Herd. Mrs. Cohn was a member of Love Chapel CME Church.

Survivors include a son, Dam Cohn of Decatur; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Aric Seth Waters

infant, Trinity

Aric Seth Waters died Saturday, December 6, 1997, at Huntsville Hospital.

A graveside service was held Monday, December 8, 2 p.m., at East Lawrence Memorial Gardens with Robbie Darnell officiating.

Survivors include his parents, Heath and Belinda Waters of Trinity; one brother, Alex Waters of Trinity; his grandparents, Fred and Donna Johnson and Dwight and Phyllis Waters, all of Trinity; and a grandmother, Maggie Owens.

Lucille Fergurson Kelsoe

88, homemaker, Danville

Funeral for Lucille Fergurson Kelsoe was held Thursday, December 4, 2 p.m., at Valley Grove Baptist Church in Speake with the Revs. Wayne Turner and Steve Kelsoe officiating.

Burial was in the Lebanon Cemetery with Parkway Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Kelsoe died Tuesday, December 2, at her residence.

She was born in Marshall County to John T. and Ida Fergurson. Mrs. Kelsoe was a member of Lebanon Methodist Church. She was the widow of Oscar Kelsoe.

Survivors include one son, Buddy Kelsoe of Speake; two brothers, J.D. Fergurson of Hartselle and Jim Fergurson of Collinwood, Tenn.; two sisters, Pauline Sewell of Hartselle and Edna Cole of Somerville; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Marty Kelsoe, Barry Kelsoe, Tony Kelsoe, John Burgess, Shaun Kelsoe and Chad Kelsoe.

Paskiel W. Kimbrough

80, salesman, Trinity

Paskiel W. Kimbrough, a Trinity resident for the past three years, died Sunday, December 7, 1997, at Decatur General Hospital.

The funeral was held at Pinkard Funeral Home chapel in Russellville with the Revs. Terry Drinkwater and Wayne Wilson officiating.

Burial was in Franklin Memory Gardens.

Mr. Kimbrough was a native Franklin County. He was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Decatur, served as deacon for 25 years and was a member of The Civitan Club. Mr. Kimbrough was a salesman for Cook's Pest Control for 12 years.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Hurst Kimbrough of Trinity; two sons, Phillip Kimbrough of Russellville and Donny Kimbrough of Elkmont; two daughters, Juanita Smith of Trinity and Patricia Colburn of Decatur; a brother, Howard Kimbrough of Russellville; a sister, Mattie Clark of Russellville; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Mike Smith, Kevin Hester, Donald Myers, Edwin Kimbrough, Jason Kimbrough, Lyndell Lovett, Ashley Colburn and Jimmy Lovett.

Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Adult's Men Sunday school class of First Freewill Baptist Church of Decatur and Russellville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Freewill Baptist Church, Decatur and Russellville.

Christy Fay Williams

21, Decatur

Funeral for Christy Fay Williams was held Monday, December 8, 1 p.m., at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. Samuel Parker officiating.

Burial was in the Liberty Cemetery.

Ms. Williams died Thursday, December 4, 1997, at Decatur General Hospital.

She was born in Decatur to Paul and Belinda Williams.

She is survived by her father, Paul Williams of Hayward, Calif.; her mother and stepfather, Belinda Hames Johnson and Bryan Johnson of Hartselle; two sisters, Samantha Pepper of Hartselle and Melinda Williams of Hayward; and her grandparents, W.T. and Sylvia Hames of Moulton and Brandon Williams of Somerville; and her great-grandfather, Dallas Hames of Trinity.

Pallbearers were Randy Wright, Danny Pepper, Alton Hames, John Elliott, Joe Payne and Jeremiah Johnson.

Fred Ashford Sr.

75, maintenance worker, North Courtland

Fred Ashford Sr. died Sunday, December 7, 1997, at his home.

The funeral was held Saturday, December 13, noon, at Red Bank Missionary Baptist Church in Town Creek with the Rev. Thomas R. Sparks officiating.

Burial was in the Willingham Memorial Gardens in Courtland with Thompson and Son Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Ashford was born in Lawrence County. He was a member of Red Bank Missionary Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He worked for the City of Decatur.

Survivors include his wife, Odessa L. Ashford; one son, the Rev. Fred Ashford Jr. of North Courtland; one daughter, Sharron Edwards of Boston; one stepdaughter, Janet Allen of Courtland; and five grandchildren.

Church deacons were the pallbearers.

Bertie Lee Johnson

78, homemaker, Town Creek

Funeral for Bertie Lee Johnson, who died Monday, December 8, 1997, at Columbia Medical Center Shoals, was held Friday, December 12. The noon service was held at Little Star Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Town Creek with the Rev. James L. Miller officiating.

Burial was in the Dobbin's Cemetery with Thompson and Son Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Town Creek. She was a member of the Little Star Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a lifelong resident of Lawrence County.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by six sons, Rafe Johnson, Willie E. Johnson, Abe Garner and Jeff Garner, all of Town Creek, Jerry D. Johnson of Bessemer, and Richard L. Garner of Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; five daughters, Dorothy M. Johnson and Jerlene Rather, both of Decatur, Mary J. Johnson of Waukegan, Ill., Ruby l. Garner and Fannie G. Steward, both of Town Creek; two foster daughters, Tammy Johnson and Traycene Johnson, both of Town Creek; one brother, Ernest Spangler of Town Creek; one sister, Marie Harris of Town Creek; 27 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons and nephews were the pallbearers.

Lois Loosier

87, homemaker, Decatur

Former Courtland resident, Lois Loosier, died Friday, December 12, 1997, at South Morgan Nursing Home.

A graveside service was held Sunday, December 14, 2 p.m., at Courtland City Cemetery with Rev. David Nelson officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

She was born in Texas to Curtis and Vennie McGregor. Mrs. Loosier was a member of Courtland Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, James Clifton Loosier of Benton, Ill., Carl Loosier of Leighton, Don Loosier of Porter, Texas, and Wayne Loosier of Courtland; a daughter, Irene Terry of Decatur; two brothers, Andrew McGregor of Courtland and Ben McGregor of Town Creek; a sister, Mamie Loosier of Florence; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons were the pallbearers.
