SMALLWOOD

Services for Wyndall B. Smallwood, 81, were at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at K.L. Brown Memory Chapel. Rev. Jerry Irwin officiated. Burial was in Anniston Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Smallwood died July 16 at her residence.

Survivors include her husband, Wilburn Smallwood, of Anniston; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Phillip Baker of Oxford; two sons and daughters-in-law, Daryle and Amanda Smallwood of Roswell, Ga., and Bo and Karen Smallwood of Jacksonville; two brothers, Bonzell Bobo and Ruel Bobo of Fayette; five grandchildren, Amanda Grant and her husband Robert and Ashlee Smallwood all of Canton, Ga., Shaye Reynolds and her husband Mike of Jackson, Ga., and Joshua Smallwood and his wife Angelina and Sallie Smallwood all of Jacksonville; and three great-grandchildren, Ethan Grant, Reece Grant and Jolie Smallwood.

Mrs. Smallwood was a homemaker and a member of Harvest Church of God. She resided in Calhoun County most of her life. Her grandson Hank Baker preceded her in death.

SPEARS

Graveside service for infant Jayden Howard Spears will be at 11 a.m. today at Anniston Memorial Gardens. Rev. Winston Howard Tibbetts will officiate. Anniston Memorial Funeral Home will direct.

Survivors include his parents, Jamie Morris and Jason Howard Spears; grandparents, Jimmy W. Morris, Sandra Morris, Jerry Crass, Wayne and Kathy Spears; aunts, Krystal Spears, Jessica Morris; uncle, Ronnie Morris. Anniston Memorial Funeral Home.

STOCKTON

Services for Frederick Leo “Buddy” Stockton, 65, of Heflin, were at 2 p.m. Monday, July 21, at Ranburne United Methodist Church. Revs. James Owens, Joe Gamble and Charles Benefield officiated. Burial was in Cleburne Memory Gardens. Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee directed.

Mr. Stockton died July 18 at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital in Anniston.

Survivors include three daughters, Kathy Harris of Ranburne, Katrina Dingler of Jacksonville and Angelia Shiflett of Carrollton, Ga.; a step daughter, Debbie Cater of Hampton, Ga.; three sons, Lee Stockton of Sparta, Ga., Jeremy Stockton of Temple, Ga. and Jason Stockton of Ranburne; a step son, Joshua Johnson of Ranburne; two sisters, Shirley Peason of Sharpsburg, Ga., and Willine Hodgins of Franklin N.C.; five brothers, Calvin, Doug and Tommy Stockton, all of Franklin, N.C., Jerry Stockton, of Blue Ridge, Ga., and Pete Stockton, of Pell City and 11 grandchildren.

Mr. Stockton was a Franklin, N.C., native, a former resident of Stockbridge, Ga., and a resident of Heflin since 1980.

He was born Sept. 9, 1942, the son of David Joshua and Kathryn Bates Stockton.

Mr. Stockton attended Ranburne United Methodist Church. He was a self-employed brick mason.

VEASLEY

Services for Robert Veasley, 69, of Buffalo, N. Y., formerly of Calhoun County, were at noon Wednesday, July 16, at Goodson Funeral Home. Rev. Mario F. McDaniel officiated. Burial was in the Jacksonville City Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta; daughter, Kristian; his step mother, Martha Veasley; six brothers, Arthur Williams, Otho Williams, Andre Walker, Thomas Parker, Lenn Veasley and Benjamin Veasley; six sisters, Barbara Vaughn, Dora Reese, Althea Reese, Rose Reese, Eulia Salter and Louise Veasley.

ANGLE

Services for Minnie Lee Angle, 81, were at 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary. Burial was in Mt. Gilead Cemetery.

Mrs. Angle died July 23 in Weaver.

Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Ford; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Travis and Kathy Angle and Ronnie Angle; a sister, Lillie Tomlin; two brothers, Clayton Bennett and Raymond Bennett; a daughter-in-law, Linda Angle; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were DeWayne Angle, James Webb, Wesley Pitts, and Adam Brown.

Mrs. Angle was a native of Jacksonville and a resident of Anniston. Her husband Homer Angle, a son Steve Angle and grandson Dale Angle preceded her in death.

BAILEY

Services for Madonna M. Bailey, 84, a former resident of Portland, Ind., and current resident of Millers Merry Manor in Marion, Ind., will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Portland Chapel of Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home. Pastor Hugh Kelly will officiate. Burial will be in Green Park cemetery in Portland.

Mrs. Bailey died July 23 at Milers Merry Manor in Marion.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Rex DeBoy of Albany, Ind., Roy and Sue DeBoy of Marion and Gerald Jr. and Janie DeBoy of Jacksonville; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bailey was a resident of Portland and moved to Billings, Montana in 1965. She moved from Billings back to Portland in 1984 and moved from Portland to Marion in 2007.

She was a former employee of the Jay Garment and This Old House Restaurant in Portland. She also worked as a waitress at Yellowstone Country Club in Billing. She was a former member of the Eagles Auxiliary of Portland and the Portland Moose Auxiliary.

Mrs. Bailey was born Aug. 12, 1923 in Jay County, Ind., the daughter of James and Sarah (Knab) Bailey. She married Gerald DeBoy in 1939, who died in 1977. She then married Elwood Bailey in 1978, who died in 1981. A daughter Janet Gibson who died in 2003 preceded her in death.

Memorial donations can be made to the Jay County Cancer Society.

KISER

Services for Barbara Bowman Kiser, 59, of Forsyth, Ga., formerly of Jacksonville, were at 1 p.m. Friday, July 25, in the chapel of K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Rev. Marvin Lee officiated. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Kiser died July 22 in Concord, Ga.

Survivors include her husband, Hugh Kiser; a daughter and son-in-law Anita and Lem Miller; two sisters, Sharon Bowman Yates and Claudine Bowman; a brother, Jimmy C. Bowman; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Miller and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Jerry Bowman, Jimmy Bowman, Rodney Greenwood, Jonathon Greenwood, Michael Reagan and Jerry Kiser.

Ms. Kiser was a Christian and was of the Baptist faith.

LOWMAN

Services for Addie Jo Roper Lowman, 84, of Wellington, will be at 11 a.m. today at Crestwood Memorial Chapel, Gadsden. Rev. Larry Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain View cemetery in Webster’s Chapel. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct.

Mrs. Lowman died July 26.

She is survived by her five sons and four daughters-in-law, Bobby Glenn and Cyndi Lowman, Royce Lee Lowman, William Clay and Gail Lowman, Wilford Ray and Mildred Lowman and Randall and Pat Lowman; a daughter and son-in-law, Geneal and Raymond Pierson; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Donal Lowman, Donnie Spray, Shane Spray, Matthew Lowman, Kevin Malsy, Jeff Burns, Randall Parris and Howard Roper. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees and residents of Jacksonville Health Care Unit One and Freddie Morris.

Mrs. Lowman was a resident of Webster’s Chapel for 83 years and a member of Webster’s Chapel Baptist Church.

Her husband, A.W. Lowman, a daughter Janice Spray, son-in-law Gary Spray and granddaughter Selena Autwell preceded her in death.
