JOHNSON

Graveside services for Johnney Lamar Johnson, 79, were at 2 p.m. May 2 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. David Daniels officiating. K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center directed.
Mr. Johnson died April 28 at Jacksonville Medical Center.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Marla and Donnie Ford of Ragland; two sons, Johnny Lynn Johnson and Tim Lamar Johnson of Jacksonville; four sisters, Eunice Smith, Catherine Garmon and Doris Barber of Jacksonville and Faye Sumlin of Marietta, Ga.; three brothers, Harrell Johnson and Frank Johnson of Jacksonville and Bill Johnson of Cedar Bluff; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and special friends, Jackie Radford of Weaver and Fay Smith of Ragland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Huey Crook Johnson and Ada Lou Johnson; his wife, Lois Jeanette Johnson, and a brother, Carl Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
ARMSTRONG

Services for Celeste Elizabeth Ruth Armstrong, 96, formerly of Mobile, were at 2 p.m. May 15 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Graveside services were in Magnolia cemetery in Mobile at 3 p.m. May 16.
Mrs. Armstrong died May 12 at the Meadows Assisted Living Facility.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Richard and Diane Armstrong of Jacksonville; a sister, Kathleen McDonald of Mobile; three grandsons, Richard Armstrong, Ross and Susan Armstrong and David and Jessica Armstrong; and great-grandchildren, Laura, Ross, Harrison, Hayden, Harper and Haley Armstrong.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oyer Armstrong, and her parents, Arthur and Sarah Rush.
Mrs. Armstrong had resided in Jacksonville for the past seven years. She was a member of the first graduating class of Murphy High School in 1927. She was a member of Jacksonville First United Methodist Church, the Bonnie Blue Flag Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Mobile Woman’s Club, the Fowl River Garden Club and the Springhill Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was formerly a member of Kingswood Methodist Church in Mobile.

BROWN

Services for Charles Richard “Rick” Brown, 48, was at 10 a.m. May 13 in the chapel of K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Pastor Mitchell Muns officiated. Burial was in Jacksonville City Cemetery.
Mr. Brown died May 10 at his residence.
Survivors include his caregiver and former wife, Nancy Brown of Jacksonville; his parents, Charles R. and Claire Layton Brown of Jacksonville; a son, Richard Brown of Jacksonville; two aunts, Anna Dishman of Weaver and June Shannon of Kenova, W. Va.; two nieces and four nephews, Kim Rocchio, Jennifer Long, Douglas Cooper and David Long of Florida and Vance and Jerrod Brown of Saks.
Pallbearers were Kenny Dishman, Todd Dishman, Brandon Miller, Frank Taylor, Douglas Cooper and Doug Mitchell.
Mr. Brown worked at Werner in Anniston. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed camping, coin collecting and scuba diving.
DAVIS

Services for William Jerryl Davis, 60, were at 11 a.m. May 15 at First United Methodist Church, Hopkinsville, Ky. Rev. Dr. Howard H. Willen officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Davis died May 10 at Jennie Stuart Medical Center in Kentucky.
Survivors include his twin brother, Douglas Darryl Davis of Hopkinsville.
Mr. Davis was a native of Hopkinsville. He was born Sept. 15, 1945, the son of the late Harold Douglas Davis and Clina Mae (Henderson) Davis.
He taught music 30 years at Jacksonville State University. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hopkinsville. He was also a member of Phi Mu Alpha, The International Double Reed Society and was organist at Grace Episcopal Church in Anniston.

FAIR

Services for Venia Wilkerson Fair, 82, were at 2:30 p.m. May 12 at Faith Temple Christian Center with Revs. T.R. Harper and William Strickland officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center directed.
Mrs. Fair died May 10.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Carol and James Ledbetter of Jacksonville and Eleanor Ontiveros of Anniston; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David Fair and Ronald and Cindy Fair of Jacksonville; a son-in-law, Chris Perry of Decatur; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gus O. Fair Sr.; two daughters, Rozell Maye and Donna Perry; and one son, Gus O. Fair Jr.
Pallbearers were Mike Ledbetter, Rudy Ontiveros, Chris Kirsch, Scott Holladay, Wendall Thompson, Nunnally Williams, Frank Reid and John Cook.
Mrs. Fair was a member of Faith Temple Christian Center. She wrote and enjoyed gospel music.
GADDY

Services for Hoyt Daniel Gaddy, 64, were at 10:30 a.m. May 12 in the chapel of K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Rev. Jack Morgan officiated. Burial was in Friendship Cemetery.
Mr. Gaddy died May 10 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center, Gadsden.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Gaddy; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Craig and Tori Gaddy and Jonathan Gaddy; two grandchildren, Ashton Leigh Gaddy and Cole Timothy Gaddy; his mother, Nettie Gaddy McFall, all of Jacksonville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Troy and Sandra Gaddy of Anniston and Ray and Sherry Gaddy of Oxford; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Gay Nell and Randall McFall, Connie and Michael Hollingsworth, and Linda and Phil Medders, all of Jacksonville; a special uncle, Kenneth Dempsey of Piedmont; three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Pat and Olen Smallwood of Jacksonville, Rose Moore of Lilburn, Ga., and Peggy Sapp of Stella, N.C., and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse D. Gaddy.
Pallbearers were Lee Dempsey, Gary Dempsey, Morey Gaddy, Brad Hollingsworth, Barry Smallwood, Jeff Pruitt, Jeff Almaroad, and Randall Parris.
Mr. Gaddy was a well-known homebuilder in Calhoun County for the past 35 years and was owner of Gaddy Cabinet Shop.

HIGGINBOTHAM

Graveside services for Ralph “Dan” Higginbotham Jr., 61, of Anniston were at 10:45 a.m. May 13 at Highland Cemetery. Rev. Bruce Hodge officiated. Gray Brown-Service Mortuary officiated.
Mr. Higginbotham died May 9 at his residence.
Survivors include his father, Ralph Daniel Higginbotham Sr. of Jacksonville; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Nancy and John Bryson of St. Simons Island, Ga., and Diane Higginbotham of New York City; and two nephews, Benjamin D. Bryson and Samuel J. Bryson.
Mr. Higginbotham was a native and resident of Anniston. He was a graduate of Anniston High School and Georgia Tech. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church and the Anniston Rotary Club. He was owner and operator of Higginbotham Printing.
Memorial donations may be made to Parker Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, American Heart Association or to the Mississippi Sheriff’s Boys and Girls Ranch.
KILGORE

Services for Harold Thomas “H. T.” Kilgore, 74, were at 11 a.m. May 13 at Bonny Brook Baptist Church. Revs. Jerry Pike and Mark Cooper officiated. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Kilgore died May 10 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Annette Grisham Kilgore of Jacksonville; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Mike Murray of Jacksonville; a son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Anita Kilgore of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Amanda Murray, Laura Kilgore, Ben Kilgore, Taylor Ford and Brittany Ford; a sister, Maxine Sutley of Jacksonville; six nieces and nine nephews.
His parents, Ben and Helen Kilgore, and two sisters, Lucille Harding and Agnes Walker, preceded him in death.
Pallbearers were Dane Prickett, Vann Walker, Lacy Smith, Mike Copeland, Johnny McGinnis, Joseph Adcock, Jimmy Harrell and Shane Harrell.
Mr. Kilgore was a long time member, chairman of the deacon board and Sunday school teacher at Bonny Brook Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict.
