MINTON
09-06-2006

Services for Alice Grimes Minton, 74, of Piedmont, will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 6 in the chapel of Folsom Funeral Home. Minister Gary Batson and Rev. Ed Coogler will officiate. Burial will be in Piedmont Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Minton died Sept. 4 at Piedmont Health Care Center.

Survivors include her husband, William Minton; four step children, Donna R. Swartz of Calhoun, Ga., Ken Minton, Randy Minton and Danny J. Minton of Piedmont; four sisters, Audrey Kirkpatrick of Weaver, Arlis Parris and Bobby Amberson of Piedmont and Annie Boozer of Jacksonville; two brothers; Joe Grimes of Jacksonville and Winfred Grimes of Piedmont; eight step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Family members and friends were pallbearers.

A native of Cleburne County, Mrs. Minton was born on Sept. 12, 1931 the daughter of the late Hugh David and Ruby Lee Buttram Grimes. She was a housewife and homemaker and attended White Plains School. Mrs. Minton was a member of the Church of Christ and had been employed with Lawtex. She was preceded in death by a sister, Avis Coppock, who died Aug. 22.

MORGAN
09-06-2006

Funeral services for Wilfredo (Fred) Morgan, Jr., 35, of Carrollton, Ga., formerly of Anniston were at 2 p. m. Sept. 1 at Anniston Funeral Service Chapel. Burial was in the Eden Hills cemetery in Anniston. Anniston Funeral Service directed.

Mr. Morgan died Aug. 27 in Carrollton, Ga.

Survivors include three children, Elijah Morgan, Ataliya Morgan, and Isaiah Morgan, all of Jacksonville; his father, Wilfredo A. Morgan, Sr., of California; his mother, Virginia N. Allen James of Anniston; his step father, Cameron E. James, of Anniston; a sister and brother-in-law, Danna and Rick Davis of Jacksonville, and a brother and sister-in-law, Ernest G. and Jessica James of Arlington, Va.; four nephews and one niece.

POE
09-06-2006

Services for Edward Larry Poe, 56, of Oxford were at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 30 at Gray Brown-service Mortuary with President Louis Quigley officiating. Gray Brown-Service Mortuary directed. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Poe died Aug. 27 at his residence.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Mona J. Poe; his mother, Vivian Poe; a son and daughter-in-law, Derrick and Angela Poe of Aiken, S.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Thomas Greene of Wellborn; three brothers, Dale Poe of Oxford and Wayne Penton and Sheryl Penton of Jacksonville; a sister, Tyna Surrette of Talladega; and five grandchildren, Dyllan Poe, Jarred Poe, Tabatha Wills, Gage Greene, and Faith Greene.

Pallbearers will be members of the family.

Mr. Poe was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County and an avid hunter. He enjoyed gardening and liked spending time with his grandchildren.

TAYLOR
09-06-2006

Services for Carolyn Chaney Taylor, 67, were at 11 a.m. Aug. 31 in the chapel of K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Revs. Charles Parris, Lonnie Welch and Vann Bollinger officiating. Burial will be in the Jacksonville City Cemetery.

Ms. Taylor died Tuesday at her residence.

Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Stowe, of Jacksonville; a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney W. and Christine Glass of Jacksonville; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Marie Batchelor and Gail and Richard Bivins all of Jacksonville; three brothers and two daughters-in-law, Leon Chaney, William (Mo) and Pat Chaney and Larry and Penny Chaney all of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, David Humphrey, Stacy Farley, Mathew Parker, Rodney Glass, Jr., and Rusty Glass and two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Kyle Humphrey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walker and Lovella Chaney; a sister, Mary Dzicek; and two brothers, Kenneth and Billy Joe Chaney.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Ms. Taylor was a native and lifelong resident of Calhoun County and a member of the Extended Hand Church. She was formerly employed at Blue Mountain Industries and Union Yarn Mill.

BOOZER
09-13-2006

Services for Dianne Allen Boozer, 49, of Alexandria were at 11 a.m. Sept. 4 at Alexandria Baptist Church. Dr. Scott Whetstone and Rev. E. Paul Davis officiated. Anniston Memorial Funeral Home directed. Burial was in Sieber Cemetery

Mrs. Boozer died Sept.1 at her home.

Survivors include her husband, Clois E. Boozer Jr., of Alexandria; two daughters, Kristin Boozer and Kelli Boozer; her father, Euell Allen; her mother, Helen Allen; a sister and brother-in-law, Julia and Kerry Casey; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Enga Allen; a niece, Freda Brewer; four nephews, Brandon Allen, Evan Allen, Clinton Reaves and Jason Reaves; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Carol Reaves.

Pallbearers were Clinton Reaves, Jason Reaves, Don Trantham, Austin Odom, Fred Bundrum and David Wright.

Mrs. Boozer was a retired contracting specialist with 22 years of service at Anniston Army Depot.

She was a member of Alexandria Baptist Church for 20 years.

Memorial donations may be made to Alexandria Baptist Church, P. O. Box 199, Alexandria 36250.

DELOZIER
09-13-2006

Graveside services for Mark Edward Delozier, 39, were at 11 a.m. Sept. 6 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Rev. Bill Snow officiated. K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center directed.

Mr. Delozier died Sept. 4 at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry Sorrell Delozier of Jacksonville; two daughters, Heather Faith Delozier and Emily Lauren Delozier of Jacksonville; his parents, Jimmy and Ann Delozier of Anniston and two brothers, Mike Delozier of Anniston and Matt Delozier of Oxford.

Mr. Delozier was owner of Jacksonville Mortgage and had resided in Jacksonville for the past five years.

MITCHELL
09-13-2006

A military graveside service for Samuel W. Mitchell, 86, of Anniston, formerly of Jacksonville, were at 2 p.m. Sept. 9 at Jacksonville City Cemetery. Rev. Truman Norred officiated.

Mr. Mitchell died Sept. 6 at his home after a short illness.

Mr. Mitchell was born in Worcester, Mass., on June 4, 1920 and made his home in Alabama after serving his country in World War II in the Southern Philippines. He received medals and a Bronze Star.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Sparks-Mitchell of Anniston; two daughters, Julia L. Mitchell and her husband, Al France of Loganville, Ga., and Rosemary P. Mitchell of Staunton, Va.; three step children, Kathy Adams and her husband, Keith of Oxford, Tawana Bass and her husband, Jeff, of Anniston, and Michael Sparks and his companion, Gordon de Brouwer of Canberra, Australia; eight step grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; three nephews and seven nieces.

WOODROW
09-13-2006

Services for Carles “Chipper” Woodrow Jr., 42, of Cedar Springs will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 14 at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home. Rev. Rick Nabors will officiate. Embombment will be in Anniston Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Mr. Woodrow died Sept. 10 of a massive heart attack in Montgomery.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Christopher and Molly Woodrow, Jessee and Jessica Woodrow and Cody Woodrow all of Cedar Springs; his parents, Carles and Margaret Woodrow of Cedar Springs; a sister and brother-in-law, Tammy and Jerry Lindsey of Jacksonville; a brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Candace Woodrow of Cedar Springs; two nephews, Jerry Lindsey and Justin Lindsey and a niece, Ivy Woodrow.

Mr. Woodrow was the owner of Chipper’s Excavating and Pools, LLC.

HOLDEN
09-20-2006

Services for Mary Broome Holden, 96, were at 3 p.m. Sept. 16 at West Point Baptist Church. Rev. Scott Smith officiated. K.L. Brown Funeral Home directed. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Holden died Sept. 14 at her residence.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Eileen and Henry Pritchett of Jacksonville; a sister; Estelle Ingram of Birmingham; a brother and sister-in-law, Emery and Audrey Broome of Southside; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Vicki and Dwight Roper, Tina and David Bryant, Janice Gilchrist, Donna Poland, Mark Pritchett, David and Melody Holden and Steve and Sandra Brown; 18 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Harvey Clinton Holden; a son, Alfred J. Holden and her parents Matthew and Rebecca Ann Broome preceded her in death.

Pallbearers were great-grandsons.

Mrs. Holden was homemaker and a charter member of West Point Baptist Church.
