WHEELER
10-11-2006

Funeral services for Rilla Barbara Wheeler, 72, were at 11 a.m. Oct. 9 at K. L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with Onzie (Tiny) Magouyrk officiating. Burial was in White’s Gap Cemetery.

Mrs. Wheeler died Oct. 6 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include two daughters, Patty Denison of Piedmont and Peggy Whiteman of St. Clair Shores, Mich.; two sons, Thomas Wheeler of Jacksonville and Steven Wheeler of Douglasville, Ga.; three sisters, Clare Magouyrk of Anniston and Mae Smith and Patricia Jones of Jacksonville; a brother, William Murray of Blue Mountain; five grandchildren, Angela, Brandon, Ryan, Connor and Allyson; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Clay Smith, Tony Jones, Wayne Adair and Matthew Adair.

Mrs. Wheeler was a native of Calhoun County and a member of the American Legion Post 57 Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Wheeler.

BORRELL

Memorial services for Alfred J. Borrell, Sr., 81, were at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at Golden Springs Baptist Church. Dr. Roland P. Brown and the Rev. Jim Simpson officiated. Gary Brown-Service directed.

Mr. Borrell died March 26 at Regional Medical Center.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Sewell Borrell, of Anniston; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Mark Witthauer of Franklin, Tenn.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Vicki Borrell of Jacksonville and Kenny and Sharon Borrell of Birmingham; grandchildren; Gregory Witthauer, Buck Sewell, Brandon Sewell, Tabatha, Stacie and Tracie; and five great-grandchildren.

His first wife Mary Alice Patty Borrell and a step son, Henry “Hank” Sewell preceded him in death.

Mr. Borrell retired from the City of Anniston Police Department (1951-76). He was a previous employee with ADS in Birmingham as a security consultant and owner-operator of Central Alarm Co. (1977-79).

CAVER

Services for Booker T. Caver Jr., 50, were 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at Christian Fellowship Bible Church, Anniston. Pastor Anthony Cook officiated. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery. Goodson Funeral Home directed.

Survivors include four daughters and a son-in-law, Shawkina Caver, Bookina and Anthony DíAmbrosia, Nekola Caver and Flourisenia Renee Swink of Anniston; a son, Terrance Christian of Anniston; his mother, Ms. Mary A. Caver of Anniston; a brother and sister-in-law, Rev. James T. and Beverly Caver of Birmingham; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Maggie and Garon Thomas of Oxford and Alice C. Easley, Mable Walker, and Carolyn and Eric Johnson of Anniston; nine grandchildren, Jermael Christian, Carlos Christian, Terrance Christian and Jaylin Christian of Jacksonville, Alexus Caver, Marquise Caver, Marcello DíAmbrosia, Alayia DíAmbrosia and Tikina Nichole Christian of Anniston.

His first wife Linda Christian Caver, his father Booker T. Caver Sr., a sister Lucy Caver McMath and a nephew Terry DeWayne Caver preceded him in death.

FREEMAN
04-02-2008

Services for Elizabeth “Beth” Freeman, 55, of Anniston, were at 2 p.m. Monday, March 31, at Parker Memorial Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Billy Harris and Dr. Mack Amis officiated. Burial was in Forestlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Freeman died March 28 at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph B. Freeman of Anniston; a son and daughter-in-law, Heath and Laura Adams of Roxoboro, N.C.; three step sons, Jody Freeman, David Freeman and Bob Freeman; her mother, Mary Elizabeth Godbee of Siloam, Ga.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Melissa and Steve West of Jacksonville and Glenda and Mike Isbell of Anniston; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Theresa Godbee of Smyrna, Tenn.; a grandchild, Hunter Adams; seven step-grandchildren; two nieces and four nephews.

Pallbearers were Jennifer West, Raymond Isbell, Joshua Isbell, Ralph White, William Weiser and James McCloud. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Anna Sunday School Class of Parker Memorial Baptist Church.

Mrs. Freeman was a member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church. She retired from the Congressional Office, District 3, and served with Rep. Bill Nichols through Rep. Mike Rogers. She was crowned Miss Weaver in the first Miss Weaver Beauty Pageant.

Her father Lloyd W. Godbee and her brother Douglas Godbee preceded her in death.

Memorial donations can be made to The Animal Shelter Endowment Fund of the Community Foundation of Calhoun County, P.O. Box 1826, Anniston 36202.

KNIGHT
04-02-2008

Graveside services for Odell Knight, 82, were at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at Piedmont Memory Gardens. Revs. Bobbie Jean McCoy and Garry Brown officiated. Thompson Funeral Home directed.

Mr. Knight died March 27 at his home.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Pansy Knight; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Roger Levesque of Texas and Teresa and Dean Christopher of Piedmont; three granddaughters, Bradlee Dodds and her husband Greg, Randee Green and her husband Rob and Ashlee Marbut and her husband Tyler; a grandson, Jeremy Christopher and his wife Heather; two great-granddaughters, Cortnee Marbut and Felicity Dodds; three great-grandsons, Chance Marbut, Sawyer Dodds and Cooper Green and a special uncle, Harold Romine and his wife Louise.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Christopher, Tyler Marbut, Chance Marbut, Chris Shaw, Robin Shaw and Garry Shaw.

Mr. Knight was a Jacksonville native and had been a Piedmont resident for the past 55 years. He retired from Union Yarn Mill.

HOLLINGSWORTH

Services for Lucille C. Hollingsworth, 88, were at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 27, in the chapel of K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel. Revs. Joe Harris and Eric Snider officiated. Burial was in White’s Gap Cemetery.

Mrs. Hollingsworth died March 25 at Jacksonville Medical Center.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Johnny Pryga of Mosinee, Wisc., and Patsy and Ron Shadrick of Rock Springs, Ga.; three sons and daughters-in-law; Larry and Linda Hollingsworth and Mike and Connie Hollingsworth of Jacksonville and Tommy and Gail Hollingsworth of Piedmont; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Josie and Pete Golden of Rainsville and Elsie and Jim Roberts of Soddy Daisy, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Deric Hollingsworth, Drake Hollingsworth, Wesley Hollingsworth, Joey Hollingsworth, Chris Shadrick, Adam Shadrick, Brad Hollingsworth and Dane Prickett.

Mrs. Hollingsworth was a member of White’s Gap Baptist Church where she taught children’s Sunday School Class for many years. She taught in the public school system for 32 years of which 26 years were at Alexandria where she taught first grade.

Her husband Joe L. Hollingsworth and her son Jerry Hollingsworth preceded her in death.

HOLMES
04-02-2008

Services for Roy Chastain Holmes, 94, of Alpine were at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at Hepzibath Baptist Church. Revs. John Coates, Phil Holmes, David Crowe and Greg Holmes officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Usrey Brown-Service directed.

Mr. Holmes died March 24.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, J.C. and Millie Holmes of Jacksonville; a daughter and son-in-law, Lois and James Haynes of Alpine; two sisters, Myrtle Warlick of Talladega and Gladys Carr of Alpine; seven grandchildren, Greg Holmes, Phillip Holmes, David Haynes, Ken Haynes, Steve Haynes, Ivye Hayes and Miriam Crowe.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Greg Holmes, Phil Holmes, Ken Haynes, David Haynes, Steve Haynes and David Crowe. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Adult Men III Sunday school class of Hepzibah Baptist Church.

His wife Mildred Warlick Holmes preceded him in death. Mr. Holmes was a lifelong resident of Talladega County. He was the oldest active member of Hepzibah Baptist Church. In his community he was often called upon, especially during World War II, to assist in barbering, livestock care, gardening and farming. He was recognized as one of the county’s best producers of watermelons and prizewinning cattle.

SNIDER
04-02-2008

Services for Eula Evelyn Snider, 84, were at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary. Revs. Garry Brown and Phillip King officiated. Burial was in Nances Creek Community Cemetery.

Mrs. Snider died March 30 at Jacksonville Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Survivors include a daughter, Diana and Milton Kennedy; a son, Max Snider and his wife Windy; a grandson, Michael Estes and his fiancé, Ashley Nelson, and her daughter, Libby; two step grandchildren, Justin Crenshaw and Kayla Canada and her husband, Justin; a step great-grandchild, Trenton Canada; two sisters, Mildred Snider and Joyce Kadle and husband, Elvin; a brother, Raymond King and wife, Bernice; a special daughter, Debbie Kennedy; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Michael Estes, Justin Crenshaw, Justin Canada, Keith Kadle, David King and Tim Christopher.

Her husband, Charles F. Snider, a sister, Dorothy Sims, a brother, Fermond King, and her parents, Henry and May King, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Snider was a longtime resident of the West Point community, living the past few years at the home of her daughter and son-in-law. She was a homemaker and self-employed seamstress. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and listening to country music. She was a member of Cedar Springs Baptist Church.

TILLMAN

Graveside services for Jacqueline Germaine Tillman, 87, will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 4, at Sand Hills State Veterans cemetery in Spring Lake, N.C. The family will receive friends from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at Adcock Funeral Home in Spring Hill.

Mrs. Tillman died March 30 at Jacksonville Medical Center.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jean Luc and Nguyen Huet of Jacksonville; two sisters, Mauricette Jeauneau and Madeleine Kruger of France; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

WHITE
04-02-2008

Services for Percy Cleveland White, 87, were at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29, in the chapel of Folsom Funeral Home. Rodney Ragsdale and Revs. Jerry Dyer and Tim Smith officiated. Burial, with full military rites, was in Piedmont Memory Gardens.

Mr. White died March 26 at his home after an extended illness.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie L. White; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Donnie Kelley of Jacksonville and Anne and David Stoneburner of Hanceville; a son and daughter-in-law Billy and Virginia White of Piedmont; a sister, Mildred Battles of Bremen, Ga; a brother,. Doyce White, Sr. of Piedmont; five grandchildren, LeAnne Dickerson, Seresa Cartwright, Michelle Byers, Craig Kelley, Nick Stoneburner and five great-grandchildren, Dakota Deberry, Trent Dickson, Mason Mulvehill, Hali Dickson, Hannah Kelley.

Pallbearers were Kenneth White, Doyce White, Jr., Danny Kirk, Ted White, Tim White and Jason Cartwright.

A native of Calhoun County, Mr. White was born on Aug. 3, 1920 the son of the late Hiram Percy and Ollie Romainer Smith White. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Miller Poultry and Feed Company. He served his country in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the Dailey Street Baptist Church and was married to Bonnie L. White on Dec. 25, 1938.

Three brothers J.T., Edward, and Jimmy White three sisters Jessie Whitt, Ida Mobley, Imogene Amberson preceded him in death.

Memorial donations can be made to the Piedmont Rescue Squad.
