Bonnett, Phillip Peterson
Bonnett, Phillip Peterson, age 57, died at Prattville Hospital September 6th at 2 p.m. Services were held at Proctor Creek in Coosa County at 11 a.m. Saturday, conducted by Elders G. A. Dixon, J. A. Raines, Sidney Gray, and Sidney Deloach. Pallbearers at the home were: Ed Wilkins, D. L. Buckhalter, Alvin Campbell, Leo Litaker and Ulysis Courtney. Serving at the grave were nephews of the deceased. Martin was directing. Besides the wife, Mrs. Hattie Glenn Bonnett, surviving are three sons -- Clarence, Chester and David, of Birmingham and Bessemer; two daughters -- Mrs. Berta Fant of Bessemer and Mrs. Joyce Cardin of Birmingham. There are three brothers -- Emmett of Verbena, Erskin of Titus, and George of Deatsville. Elder Bonnett was a native of Coosa County, where he lived up until a few years ago when he removed to Enterprise community in this county.

Funeral services for Edna H. Brasher, 78 and a resident of Maplesville, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept 28, 2001 at Sardis Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Sardis Baptist cemetery in Maplesville. Visitation will be held today, Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001 from 5-8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel. Born on Oct 6, 1922 in Morgan County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Major Hunt and the late Maggie Sheffield Hunt. A seamstress she died on Sept 26, 2001 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse James Brasher. She is survived by her sister, Hazel Haley of Greensboro, Ga.; four sisters-in-law, Ruby Pierson, Lossie Thornton and Evelyn Brasher, all of Maplesville, and Rosie Lee Brasher of Baytown, Texas; a brother-in-law, Charles Haley of Greensboro, Ga.; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Bray, Minnie Hazel
June 13, 1913 - May 17, 2004
Minnie Hazel Bray Services for Minnie Bray, 90, of Maplesville, will be held May 19 at Sardis Baptist Church, at 11 a.m. Reverends David Bishop and C. W. Turner Jr. will officiate. Visitation will be held today, May 18, at Martin Funeral Home from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Mrs. Bray, a homemaker, died May 17. Survivors include her daughter, Ruth Thompson of Huntsville; son, Joseph Bray of Clanton; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Bridges, John M.
Bridges, John M., age 57, died of a heart attack at a Birmingham hospital Saturday, December 19th. Services were held Sunday from the First Methodist Church of Bessemer; burial in Elmwood cemetery. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Winnie Reynolds Bridges and five children -- Jack Bridges of Gadsden, Mrs. Gillis Cammack of Selma, Mrs. Ennis Washburn of Autaugaville, Dr. James Bridges of New Oleons, and Terrell Bridges of Lake Charles, La. Mr. Bridges spent his boyhood days at Marvel, Ala. but had lived at Bessemer for a number of years. The family lived in Clanton for a brief while some twenty-five years ago. He was married to Winnie Reynolds, of
Clanton, daughter of the late Judge and Mrs. L. H. Reynolds some thirty-five years ago.

Herbert L. "Hub" Brigance Services for Hub Brigance, 70, of Clanton, will be held today, March 7, at Martin Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Martin Memorial cemetery with Reverend Jay Hurd officiating. Mr. Brigance, a veteran's service officer, died at Chilton Medical Center March 5. Survivors include his wife, Teresa Moore Brigance of Clanton; son, Stephen Brigance of Woodbridge, Va.; daughter, Freida Fore of Clanton; brothers, Elmer Brigance of Marietta, Ga., and J. Wendel Brigance of Lilburn, Ga.; sisters, Audrey Howard of Selma, Virginia Gillespie of Montgomery, Marjorie Deason of Billingsley; grandsons, James White of Lawrenceville Ga. and Ryan Brigance of Woodbridge; granddaughters, Kayla and Amelia Fore of Clanton and Dana Brigance of Woodbridge. He was the son of Samuel and Alma Brigance.

Funeral services for Shirley Ann Broadhead, 67, Montgomery, will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Billy Boatwright officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Baptist cemetery at Maplesville, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Broadhead was born in Chilton County, the daughter of the late Crit Atchison and the late Velma Spivey Atchison. She was a homemaker. She died on Dec. 4, 2001, at her residence. Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Ann Burt and Linda Faye Brasher, both of Maplesville, and Donna Renna Wright, Plantersville; one sister, Floretta Harrison, Maplesville; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Audie Lloyd Brown, 95, Verbena, will be held at Chestnut Creek Baptist Church on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Joe Perkins, Rev. Keith Edwards, and Rev. Derek Deavers officiating. Burial will follow at Chestnut Creek Baptist Church cemetery in Verbena, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Brown was born on Feb. 8, 1906, in Chilton County, the son of the late Whit and Martha Brown. He was a correctional officer and served in the Army from Jan. 8, 1943, until Aug. 5, 1943. He died at his residence on Feb. 25, 2001. Survivors include his wife, Sattie R. Brown, Verbena; three daughters, Hazel Hann, Janice M. Adams, and Malinda A. Brown, all of Verbena; three sons, Thomas Lloyd Brown, Donnie E. Brown, and Winston Brown, all of Verbena; two sisters, Daisy Brown and Mattie B. Hay, both of Sylacauga; two brothers, Edker Brown, Mobile, and Grady Brown, Sylacauga; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Frank Britton Brown, 85 of Maplesville, were held Sunday, March 2, 2003 at Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Tucker officiating. Burial followed at Abney Cemetery. Born on Jan. 20, 1918 to Francis H. Brown and Mary Brown (Abney) he died Friday, Feb. 28 at Shelby Medical Center in Alabaster. Survivors include his brothers Thomas Abney Brown of Maplesville and George Knight Brown of Mountain Brook; nieces Charlotte B. Crow of Birmingham, Pat Taylor of Birmingham and Susan Brown of Atlanta; nephews Thomas A. Brown Jr. of Montgomery, Frank B. Brown II of Maplesville, F. H. Brown of New Orleans and John K. Brown of Prattville.

Burial will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church cemetery with Martin Funeral Home directing. Survivors include his wife, Gloria Brown of Maplesville; his mother, Bertha Brown of Centreville; daughters, Donna (Tim) Perry of Centreville and Michelle (Greg) Ellison of Rogersville, Mo.; stepdaughters, Glenda (Tommy) Clemmons and Connie (James ) Hopkins of Selma; stepsons, Michael (Sheila) Crocker and Russell Crocker of Maplesville, Tom (Collette) DeMent of Atlanta, Ga., and Lee (Wanda) DeMent of Opelika; grandchildren, Lee and Brandilyn Perry of Centreville, Laura Kyle and Skylar Ellison of Rogersville, Mo, Kyle and Lee Clemmons of Maplesville, Cyndy and Lisa Hopkins of Selma, Dale and Kristen Maddox, and Scott Crocker all of Maplesville and Adam Skelton of Selma; sister, Faye (E. C.) Downs of Centreville; a brother, Brady (Judy) Brown of Winfield; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, A. J. Brown of Centreville and a son, Leo E. Brown, Jr. "Junior" of Opelika. Family visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, at Martin Funeral Home in Clanton. The body will lie in state at the church on Thursday, prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. Active pallbearers are John Downs, Tim Fondren, Tim Perry, Tommy Clemons, Micheal Crocker, Russell Crocker, Phillip Chandler and J. W. Bone. Honorary pallbearers are Phillip Desmond, E. C. Downs, Brady Brown, Bill Moore, Lawrence Chandler and Roscoe Godwin.

Graveside services will be held for Clarice Irene (Driver) Bryant, 82, Clanton, at Chestnut Creek Baptist cemetery on Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Harlen Harris officiating and Martin Funeral Home directing. Bryant was born on Nov. 15, 1918, in Chilton County, the daughter of the late Lewis Henry and Elizabeth Virginia Driver. She was a homemaker. She died at Shelby Baptist Medical Center on Jan. 31, 2001. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Harold Bryant, Clanton, and one sister, Lena Mae Dennis, Clanton.

Bryant, Dock R.
October 22, 1878 - December 28, 1969
Bryant, Dock R., age 90, of Cooper, died December 28th at Chilton County Hospital. He was a native of Coosa County, born October 22, 1879. Funeral services were held at Chestnut Creek on December 30th at 1:30 p.m., the Rev. L. E. Hand officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Survivors include: three daughters: Roxie Thornton, Birmingham; Zadie Todd, Clanton; and Ludella Franks, Americus, Ga. Two sons survive: Grady Bryant and John Bryant of Cooper, 18 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren also survive.

Buckless, Ruby Bean

Graveside services for Ruby Bean Buckless, 79, Locust Grove, Ga., will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Cedar Grove Methodist Church cemetery in Thorsby, with Rev. Roland Davis officiating and Martin Funeral Home directing. Buckless was born on Aug. 7, 1922, in Alabama, the daughter of the late Leonard Bean and the late Velvie Bean. She was a homemaker. She died on Dec. 1, 2001, at her residence. Survivors include two sons, Fred Buckless and Fredrick Buckless, both of Locust Grove, Ga.; one brother, Earl Bean, Huntsville; 10 grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home on Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, from 5-8 p.m. Burkhalter was born on Feb. 27, 1908 in Coosa County, the daughter of the late J. J. DeLoach and the late Cora Lee Terrell DeLoach. She was a homemaker. She died on Aug 22, 2002, in Decatur. Survivors include on daughter, Betty Burkhalter, Decatur; one son-in-law, Arthur Taylor, Decatur; one son, Wayne Burkhalter, Leeds; one daughter-in-law, Anne Burkhalter, Leeds; two sisters, Lil Mae Courtney, Clanton, Ophelia Griffin, Verbena; one brother, James Jackson DeLoach, Jr., Clanton; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Floyd Baptist cemetery in Verbena with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mr. Burkhalter was born Sept 7, 1997, at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. He is survived by his wife, Audrey J. Burkhalter of Verbena; a son, Gordon Burkhalter of Clanton; two daughters: Beverly Wingard of Verbena and Joy Richardson of Prattville; three granddaughters: Alyce Smith of Rapid City, S.D., Cindy Donahoo of Auburn and Jenni Mims of Opelika; a grandson, Kevin Richardson of Prattville; and seven great-grandchildren: Luke Burkhalter, Lee Burkhalter, Brent Smith, Bobby Donahoo, Brandon Mims, Nicki Donahoo and Bailee Mims.

Survivors include his sons, Dennis O Burnett, III of Maplesville and Mike Burnett of Plantersville; his daughter, Becky Burnett of Maplesville; granddaughters Christy Knowles of Montevallo and Kailee Burnett of Maplesville; grandsons Trey Burnett and Beau Burnett, both of Maplesville; great grandson James William Knowles of Montevallo and his sister, Agnes Friday of Stanton.
