Mattie Ann Cleckler Services for Mattie Ann Cleckler, 63, of Jemison, will be held at Union Grove Baptist Church, Sunday, December 12 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Johnny Bowman and Rev. Randy Gothard officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Grove Community Cemetery. Cleckler died Thursday, December 9 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center. Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Barnett of Jemison; son, Mark Cleckler of Clanton; three daughters, Debbie Stacener of Jemison, Cindy Eiland of Verbena and Sherry Keeton; three sisters, Jerry Culp of Jemison, Margie Gray of Jemison and Sue Hilyer of Jemison; friend, Brady Barnett of Jemison; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Cleckler, Ollie Mae
May 04, 1921 - September 11, 2004
Services for Ollie Mae Cleckler, 83, of Clanton were held at Zion Ridge Church of God, Sunday September 12 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Robert Barnes and Rev. Tony Thomas officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Mrs. Cleckler died Saturday, September 11. Survivors include three sons, Duell E. Cleckler, Donald R. Cleckler and Harold R. Cleckler, all of Clanton; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Sanford Oneal Cleckler, 60 of Clanton, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2003 at Zion Ridge Chapel of God with Rev. Tony Thomas and Rev. Kenneth Northcutt officiating. Burial followed at Zion Ridge Chapel of God Cemetery. Born on March 13, 1943 to Dalton Cleckler and Gladys Cleckler, he died March 21, 2003 at 4996 County Road 49 in Clanton. Survivors include his mother Gladys Cleckler of Clanton; brother Timothy D. (Shelia) Cleckler of Clanton; sister Hazel E. (Cecil) Cleckler of Clanton; nephews Rex Cleckler of Clanton and Chris Cleckler of Clanton; niece Crystal Russell of Clanton.

Funeral services for Shirley Jean Cleckler, 63, of Verbena, were held Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002 at Oak Grove Church of God with Rev. Kenneth Northcutt and Rev. Robert Barnes officiating. Burial services followed at New Harmony Holiness cemetery in Clanton. Born on Jan. 31, 1939 to Obie Fisher and Rebecca Webb Fisher of Autauga County, she died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002 at Chilton Medical Center. Survivors include sons, Ray (Joy) Cleckler of Verbena, Roger (Sandra) Cleckler of Verbena, Perry Gene (Avis) Cleckler of Verbena; daughter Dianne (Don) Patterson of Verbena; sisters Liz Thames of Montgomery and Vivian Thomas of LaPine, Ala.; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Cleckler, William
Cleckler, William, age 77, died at his home, Clanton, Rte. 1 Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Services were held at Mt. Springs Tuesday afternoon at 3: o'clock, conducted by Rev. Robert Cost; Spigener directing. Seven sons survive -- T. G. Cleckler, G. C., Rube, Fonza, Harvey, Lonnie, all of Clanton Routes, and Archie of Birmingham; two daughters -- Mrs. Nora Lee Friday of Tallassee and Mrs. Myrtle Cox of Montgomery; one brother, Charlie Cleckler of Clanton. There are 23 grand children and nine great grand children.

Graveside services for Willie Winfred Cleckler, 83, of Clanton, will be held on Thursday, July 29, 1999, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pisgah Methodist Cemetery, with Rev. Robert Barnes officiating and Martin Funeral Home directing. Cleckler was born on June 2, 1916, the son of the late Willie and Susie Elizabeth Cleckler. HE was a farmer. He died on July 27, 1999, at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Agnes Scarbrough Cleckler, Clanton; three sons, Winfred Oneal Cleckler, Wilton Edwin Cleckler, and Jerry Ray Cleckler, all of Clanton; one daughter, Julia Ann Mims, Clanton; three brothers, James Herbert Cleckler, Johnny V. Cleckler, and Ivy Gene Cleckler, all of Clanton; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Velma R. Cleckler, 80, Childersburg, will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 15, 2001, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Lonnie Plunkett and Rev. Kenneth Northcutt officiating. Visitation will be at Martin Funeral Home on Thursday, June 14, 2001, from 5-8 p.m. Cleckler was born on Jan. 19, 1921, in Chilton County, the daughter of Paralee Cleckler and the late William M. Edwards. She was a homemaker. She died on June 12, 2001, at Talladega Health Care. Survivors include her husband, J. Hoyt Cleckler, Childersburg; her mother, Paralee Edwards, Clanton; two sons, Elton (Nancy) Cleckler, Childersburg, and Johnny Ray (Vi) Cleckler, Montgomery; three sisters, Drucilla Schuffert, Prattville, Eula Parrish and Bernice Easterling, both of Clanton; one brother, Darvin Edwards, Clanton; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Alvin Monroe Cleckley, 69, Clanton, will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Chilton Memorial Gardens with Martin Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, from 5-8 p.m. Cleckley was born on Sept. 13, 1932, in Chilton County, the son of the late William Cleckley and the late Mattie Belle Jacks Cleckley. He was an aircraft mechanic and was in the U.S. Air Force from Jan. 20, 1952 to Jan. 19, 1956. He died on Feb. 6, 2002, at the VA Hospital in Birmingham. Survivors include his wife, Wilma Cleckley, Clanton; two step-daughters, Rhonda (Ricky) Dotson and Patricia Mims, both of Clanton; four grandsons, Robert Easterling, Trevor Mims, Ryan Easterling, and ???, all of Clanton; one granddaughter, Renee (Scott) Underwood, Clanton; three great-grandchildren, Scottie Underwood, Sophia Underwood, Shelbie Underwood; one brother James Cleckley, Chipley, Fla.; three sisters, Dera Cleckley, Clanton, Birdie Gore, Verbena, Earlene Gore, Pinson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Lou Robinson Cleckley; his father, William Cleckley; one mother, Mattie Cleckley; and two brothers, Simeon and David Cleckley.

Funeral services for Lee Cleckley, 82 and a resident of Verbena, will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home chapel, with Rev. Wendell Kelly and Rev. Robert Barnes officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Methodist cemetery in Clanton. Born on Jan. 1, 1918, he was the son of the late Pete Cleckley and the late Nancy Cleckley. A farmer by trade, he died on Aug. 5, 2000 at Shelby Medical Center in Alabaster. He is survived by his wife, Pearl "Pat" Cleckley of Verbena; five daughters, Mary Frances Pinson of Clanton, Lee Audis Medley and Betty Joyce Tucker, both of Ocean Springs, Miss. Patsy Carroll of Clanton and Louise Burnette of Verbena; three sisters, Minnie Friday of Billingsley, Myrtle Cleckley of Clanton and Annie Horton of Sylacauga; three brothers, Jim Cleckley of Clanton, Robert Cleckley of Billingsley and William Cleckley of Clanton; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his two sons, Greg Cleckley and Alfred Cleckley.

Burial will follow at Bethany Baptist cemetery in Verbena, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Cleckley was born on Aug. 11, 1915, in Alabama, the son of the late Andrew and Susie Cleckley. He was a mechanic. He died on Feb. 6, 2000, at Estes Nursing Facility South in Birmingham. Survivors include three sons, J.T. Cleckley, Jemison, Neal Cleckley, LaGrange, Ga., and Glenn Cleckley, Clanton; four sisters Willodean Jones, Marie Headley, Leona Adams, and Cora Driver, all of Clanton; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Pearl Estelle Cleckley, 82, Verbena, will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Wendell Kelly and Rev. Robert Barnes officiating. Cleckley was born in Alabama on Sept 30, 1919, the daughter of the late James Brown and the late Jessie brown. She was a homemaker. She died on Feb. 11, 2002, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster. Survivors include five daughters, Louise Burnette, Verbena, Mary Frances Pinson and Patsy Carroll, both of Clanton, Lee Audis Medley and Betty Joyce Tucker, both of Ocean Springs, Miss.; three brothers, Alfred Brown, Loxley, Ernest Brown and John Brown, both of Mobile; two sisters, Betty Joe Davis, Mobile, and Martha Cleckley, Clanton; 19 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Cleckley, and one son, Alfred "Bo" Cleckley.

Mr. Berney Lee Cobb, age 56, died suddenly in Clanton, Fri. Burial was at Center Hill Cemetery. He is survived by his Wife, Mrs. Mattie Cobb, 4 Daughters, Mrs. Howard Maddox, Mrs. Lewis Gillispie, Miss Jewell Cobb, 3 Sons, Leo, Lloyd, and Ted Cobb. He was born 9-10-1887, Son of Late Thomas Jefferson and Pare Lee Martin Cobb. He married Miss Mattie Phoeba McGraw 10-13-1907. He served as Deputy Sheriff under sheriff H. A. Harris, substitute Mail Carrier 34 years, Justice of the Peace 12 years, was working for American Life Insurance Co. at the time of his death.

Mr. Cofer was born March 11, 1919, in Alabama to the late Bob and Nancy Eunice Cofer. He worked as a crane operator. He died July 26, 1998, at Shelby Ridge Nursing Home in Alabaster. He is survived by his wife, Lena Cofer of Jemison; a brother, Bill Cofer of Jemison; three sisters: Bonnie Willis of Jemison, Florence Chastain of Birmingham and Lula Hilyer of Jemison; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Hihugh Jefferson 'L.J.' Cofer, 68, Jemison, will be held at First Baptist Church of Jemison on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Chuck Bass and Rev. Terry Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Midway Memorial, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Cofer was born on Feb. 28, 1933, in Chilton County, the son of Clyde Cebron Cofer and Ethel Jones Cofer. He was a road master. He died on Dec. 14, 2001, at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. Survivors include his wife, Bette T. Cofer, Jemison; three daughters, DeAnna Clements, Jemison, Doreen Fell, Birmingham, Darlene Tums, Destin, Fla.; his mother-in-law, Marie Glass Sammons, Jemison; and seven grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Lifeline Children Services, 2908 Pump House Road, Birmingham, AL 35243.

Funeral services for Mr. William "Bill" F. Cofer, 89, Clanton, will be held at 1 a.m. today at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Evie Megginson and Lee Bryant officiating Burial will follow at Midway Memorial cemetery in Jemison, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Cofer was born on July 31, 1910, in Chilton County, to the late Bob and Nancy Rogers Cofer. He died at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham on Feb. 9. He is survived by three daughters, Annie Sue Adams and Doris Mims, both of Clanton, and Rosa Armstrong of Fultondale; three sisters, Ronnie Willis and Lula Hilyer, both of Jemison, and Florence Chastain of Birmingham; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Cole, a cabinetmaker with Lacko Woodworks, died at Shelby Medical, Nov. 21.Survivors include his wife, Sheila Cole of Clanton; daughter, Keri Calloway of Maplesville; father, A.W. Cole of Clanton; sisters, Diane Benton, Darlene Cunningham and Denise Hubbert, all of Clanton and Carmel Toliver of North Carolina and a brother, Bob Cole of Clanton.

Funeral services for Ricky Lane Colee, 46, Billingsley, will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2000, at 2 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home, with Rev. Lamar Lyon officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Methodist cemetery in Maplesville, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Colee was born on April 3, 1954, in Jefferson County, the son of the late Grover and Hilma Colee. He was a manufacturing supervisor. He died on June 19, 2000 at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Cindy Colee, Billingsley; two daughters, Katrina Thrasher, Billingsley, and Lori Blankenship, Jasper; one son, Jason Colee, Mobile; one sister, Avis Huey, Lawley; two brothers, Dale Colee, Prattville, and Terrell Colee, Billingsley; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services for James Carlton Collins, 85, of Thorsby were July 8, 1998, at Thorsby First Baptist Church with Rev. Alvin Porter and Rev. Harry Gulledge officiating. Burial was in Thorsby Memorial cemetery with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mr. Collins was born Aug. 13, 1912, in Alabama to the late Richard Calvin and Dora Dean Collins. He worked as a farmer. He died July 6, 1998, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Birmingham. He is survived by his wife, Minnie Merle Smith Collins; a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Zane Martin of Thorsby; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Greg Woodfin of Hoover; a son and daughter-in-law, James William and Marilyn Collins of Thorsby; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Collins, James Dudley
March 15, 1877 - April 07, 1936
J. Dudley Collins, age 59, died last Tuesday at his home near Clanton on the Lay Dam Road. He was born in the Collins Chapel Community March 15, 1877. He married Miss Mattie Green 12-3-1896 and to them was born 2 Sons and 1 Daughter. He served as Tax Collector and also served as Sheriff of this County. He was first a Member of Collins Chapel Baptist Church and when Friendship was established he transferred his membership to Friendship. His Son, J. D. Collins, Jr. and His Daughter, Mrs. Linnie Gillespie survive, one son died in 1912. He is also survived by 2 Brothers and 3 Sisters. Burial was at Collins Chapel cemetery following funeral services at Friendship Baptist Church.

Collins, James Lee
Collins, James Lee, age 64, died suddenly at Thorsby Monday morning about 10:15 o'clock. Services were held at Thorsby Congregational church at 11 o'clock Wednesday morning, conducted by Rev. Carolyn Welch: burial in Elmwood cemetery, Birmingham, Spigener directing. Members of American Legion Post 206 served as pallbearers, and had charge of the grave. Surviving is the wife, Mrs. Glennie Pearl Collins; one son, W. P. Collins of Birmingham; one daughter, Mrs. W. M. Mays of Birmingham, one grand child; three brothers -- Monroe Collins of Childersburg, Rufus G. Collins of Silura, and W. A. Collins, Sr. of Thorsby.
