Funeral services for Warren Donald 'Bill' Culp, 69, Jemison, were held at Jemison First Baptist Church on Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Chuck Bass officiating. Burial followed at Union Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Jemison, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Culp was born on June 17, 1932, in Chilton County, the son of the late Woodfin Devaughn Culp and the late Glennie Ethel Culp. He was in aircraft maintenance and served in the Air Force. He died on Feb 1, 2002, at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Patty J. Culp, Jemison; one daughter, Karen C. Boyd, Hoover; one son-in-law, Don Boyd, Hoover; and two grandsons, David Boyd, Hoover, and Adam (Amiee) Sasser, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Culver, Arrie Bell
April 22, 1893 - July 14, 1988
Funeral services for Arrie Bell Culver, 96, of Clanton, were held at Martin Chapel on July 16th at 3 p.m. with the Rev . Cecil O. Sewell officiating. Burial followed at Martin Memorial cemetery with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Culver, a homemaker, was born in Alabama on April 22, 1893, the daughter of Eason Harmon and Fannie Viola Morris Carroll. She died July 14th at 5 p.m. at her home in Clanton. Surviving relatives include four daughters, Mrs. Blanche Powell, Mrs. Gladys Smith, and Mrs. Iris Hosey, all of Clanton; and Mrs. Mary Nelson, Eclectic; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Stella Culver, Alabaster; two brothers; Rev. Homer Carroll, Deatsville; and Hughey E. Carroll, Clanton; 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services for Lucile H. Culver, 87, of Jemison were Feb. 15, 1998, at Midway Memorial cemetery with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Culver was born Oct. 2, 1910, in Chilton County to the late J. W. and Celia Collins Hays. She worked as a seamstress. She died Feb. 13, 1998, at Vaughan Chilton Medical Center in Clanton. She is survived by two daughters, Mildred J. "Jerry" Vereen of Jemison and Jeanine Bowen of Langston; a grandson, Frank Sazera of Jemison; a brother, Hiram Hays of Jemison; and two great-grandchildren: Bailey Sazera and Brantley Sazera, both of Jemison. She was preceded in death by her husband, Justus P. Culver.

Greer Culver, 2 Brothers, Lewis and John Wright of Clanton, 2 Sisters, Mrs. Dora DeVaughn and Mrs. Etta Buhle, 2 Sons, Watson Culver of Montgomery, and Justice of Billingsley, and one sister???, Mrs. Florence Williams of Billingsley.

Mr. William Greer Culver, age 90, died Tuesday morning, July 18th. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Chestnut Creek Church, conducted by the Rev. J. M. Kelley and Rev. A. T. Davis.He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Janie Culver; five sons-A.J., R. F. and J. P. Culver of Birmingham, M. C. and J. W. Culver, of Clanton; four daughters- Mrs. S. J. Driver of Birmingham, Mrs. F. T. Williams of Billingsley, Mrs. J. C. Yarborough of Rockford and Mrs. C. E. Foshee of Billingsley.

Cummings, Julia Ann

Julia Ann Cummings Services for Julia Ann Cummings, 59 of Thorsby, are Monday, June 28, at 3 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Martin Memorial cemetery in Clanton. Rev. Greg Nobles will officiate. Cummings died Friday, June 25 at her home in Thorsby. She was a beautician. She is survived by her brothers Chester Hayes of Clanton and Linwood Hayes of Clanton; sisters Delene Roper of Maplesville, Essie Anderson of Maplesville and Pauline Arant of Clanton.

Daniel, James Adron 'Buck'
1925 - January 24, 2005
Funeral services for James A. "Buck" Daniel, 79, of Alexander City will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2005 at Hillabee Baptist Church. The Revs. Bobby Anderson, Donald Bailey and Don Gentry will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillview Memorial Park. He will lie instate for one hour at the church prior to the service. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005 at Radney Funeral Home. Mr. Daniel died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005 at his home in Alexander City. Buck was born Feb. 10, 1925 in Clanton to Calvin and Ester Daniel. He served during World War II as a Naval shipman in the Pacific. After the war, he worked various jobs in Clanton as a peach farmer, furniture store owner and a banker. In 1958 he opened the first Dairy Queen in Alabama in Clanton. In 1960 he moved to Alexander City to establish The Dairy Quick fast food chain. He was a true entrepreneur. He quickly had Dairy Quicks in Alexander City, Sylacauga, Lineville, Roanoke, Dadeville and Wadley. His creation of "The Buck Burger" was his trademark and was enjoyed by millions of people. He is survived by one daughter, Kathy Black and husband, Jim of Birmingham; three sons, David Daniel and wife, Karen of Centerville, Gary Daniel and wife, Judy, and Paul Daniel and wife, Betty all of Alexander City; one brother, Curtis Daniel of Georgia; one sister, Sara Edwards and husband, Eddie of Clanton; 10 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Norma C. Daniel. Pallbearers will be Alan Daniel, Jimmy Daniel, Michael Daniel, Micah Daniel, Daniel Black, Bradley Daniel, Joshua Black and Brandon Sonnier. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Redmon, Megan Daniel Sonnier, Anna Daniel Redmon and Cheryl Black. On Tuesday night at his home in the Mulbery neighborhood Mr. A.E. Davenport, pioneer citizen of Chilton county, succumbed to a sudden attack of heart failure. Mr. Davenport had resided in this county all of his life and was about 70 years of age.

Burial was in Pleasant Hill Baptist cemetery in Jemison with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mr. Davenport was born Feb. 16, 1925 in Alabama to the late Mose and Lillie Davenport. He worked in maintenance. He died Jan. 29, 1998, at his residence in Jemison. He is survived by his wife, Lola Mae Davenport; a brother-in-law, Marcell Wagoner of Jemison; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Henry Lee Jones, 76, of Verbena, will be held on Thursday, July 29, 1999 at 11 a.m. at martin Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Tom Hilyer officiating. Burial will be at Martin Memorial cemetery in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Jones was born on Dec. 18, 1922, in Chilton County, the daughter of the late Henry Davenport and the late Cora Lee Scott. She was a checker and inspector. She died on July 27, 1999, at her residence. Survivors include her husband, B. Clifton Jones, Verbena; one daughter, Joyce M. Mims, Verbena; three sisters, Hazel Hopkins, Willie Mae Cox, Clanton, and Tincy Davis, Alabaster; four Grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, J.R. Jones.

John Davenport, 92, of Plantersville, died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 1994, in a local hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Plantersville Baptist church with the Rev. Berry Crowe and the Rev. Roger Moates officiating. The body will lie in state at the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Plantersville Baptist Church cemetery with Martin Funeral Home of Clanton directing. Survivors include five sons, Earl Davenport and Jon Wayne Davenport of Maplesville, Auburn Davenport of Munford and Jimmy Davenport and Danny Davenport of Plantersville; four daughters, Dorothy Brewer of Nashville, Tenn., Martha Mims of Clanton, Judy White of Monervia, Ind., and Linda Terry of Plantersville; a sister Olis Kilgore of Morris, Ill.; and 30 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Frances G. Davenport, 83, Jemison, will be held at Martin Funeral Home on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at 1 p.m., with Rev. Thomas E. Hilyer and Rev. Tony Burnett officiating. Burial will follow at New Salem Baptist cemetery in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Davenport was born on March 25, 1918, in Chilton County, the daughter of the late Lee Andrew Gore and the late Ida J. Bean. She was a sales clerk. She died on Sept. 20, 2001, at Shelby Ridge Nursing Home in Alabaster. Survivors include one daughter, Elaine Wagoner, Jemison; one son, Kenneth Davenport, Duluth, Ga.; one sister, Betty McClure, Pelham; two daughters-in-law, Frances Davenport, Centreville, and Sandy Davenport, Clanton; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Alford Davenport.

Davis, Billingsley; two sons, Randy Davis, Prattville, Gregg Davis, Billingsley; two daughters-in-law, Shirrell Davis, Prattville, Jane Davis, Billingsley; one brother, Earl Davis, Huntsville; one sister, Juanita Scott, Piedmont; grandchildren, Jacob and Brittany Randall, Bobby, Billy; three great-grandchildren, Dalton, Will, Cameron.
