Hamm, Murphey 'Buddy'
December 18, 1937 - October 24, 1999
Graveside services for Murphy (Buddy) Hamm will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, at Bethsalem Baptist Church. Hamm was born on Dec. 18, 1937. He loved his neighbors at Woodland Hills Chateau Community and they love him. Hamm was retired from the Air Force, having served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He loved his county, his family and his life, but above all he loved God. We shall miss him always. He died on Oct 24, 1999. Survivors include one son, Rick Ferguson; two brothers, A. Hubert Hamm, Prattville, and B. Leo Ham, Jemison; two sisters, Mary Cone, Montgomery, and Shirley Cleckler, Clanton; one step-sister, Vera Stringer, Florence, Miss; one granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.

Hand, John Starling, Rev.
November 27, 1883 - January 13, 1934
Rev. J. Starling Hand, age 51, died Sat night 2-1/2 miles South West of Clanton, burial was at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. He was born 7-18-1861[sp]. Surviving him his Wife, Mrs. Bessie Headley Hand, 2 Sons, Leonard Hand, and Cornelius Hand, one Daughter, Mrs. Jewel Hayes. One Brother, 3 half Brothers, 3 Sisters. he was born in Coosa County, Son of John Hand, came to Chilton Co. at the age of 18. His father died at Deatsville 5 years ago.

Harding, Ruby Hayes

Graveside services for Ruby Hayes Harding, 57 and a resident of Jacksonville, Fla., were held on Monday, Oct. 16, 2000 at Sardis Baptist cemetery in Maplesville with Rev. David Bishop officiating. Born on Aug. 11, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Howard Clay Hayes and Marzelle Mims Hayes. A Clerk, she died on Oct 13, 2000 at Shand Jacksonville Medical Center in Jacksonville, Fla. She is survived by a son Perry Shuttlesworth of Birmingham; two daughter, Francie Hughes of Birmingham and Meg Davies of Birmingham; her mother Marzelle Mims Hayes of Clanton; four sisters, JoAnn Ricks of Birmingham, Betty Robinson of Clanton, Jane Gore of Clanton and Peggy Crawford of Louisville, Ken.; five brothers, Howard Hayes of Birmingham, Frank Hayes of Jemison, Harry Hayes of Maplesville, Robert Hayes of Maplesville and Garry Hayes of Jemison; and four grandchildren.

HARDY, MR. BERNEY WAYNE, age 65, of Clanton, passed away June 29, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hardy of Clanton, AL., brother, Garland Hardy of Plantersville, AL, sister, Juanita Houston, of Plantersville, AL. Funeral services will be Monday, July 2, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home with Rev. John D. Troubaugh and Rev. Mike Golson officiating. Interment will be in Moncrief cemetery in Gardendale, AL.

Funeral services for Berney Wayne Hardy, 65, Clanton, were held on Monday, July 2, 2001, at 1 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. John D. Trobaugh and Rev. Mike Golson officiating. Burial followed at Moncrief cemetery in Gardendale, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Hardy was born on Nov. 20, 1935, in Alabama, the son of the late Roy Hardy and the late Phae Dalene Hardy. He was a manager. He died at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster on June 29, 2001. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Hardy, Clanton; one brother, Garland Hardy, Plantersville; and one sister, Juanita Houston, Plantersville.

Harris, Arliss

Funeral services for Arliss Harris, 79, Plantersville, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Northside Baptist Church, with Rev. Mike Golson officiating. Burial will follow at Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery, with Lawrence Funeral Service in Selma directing. The family will receive friends at Northside Baptist Church from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2002. Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Harris worked Miller Lumber Co. for 44 years. He died on Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at a local nursing home. Survivors include his wife, Dot Jones Harris, Plantersville; five sons, Jimmy (Judy) Harris and Kenneth (Roberta) Harris, Sr., both of Selma; Larry (Karen) Jones, Johnny (Rachel) Jones and Ed Jones, all of Plantersville; two daughters, Donna (Wayne) Downs, Selma, Brenda (Jerry) Atchison, Pell City; two brothers, Lester Harris and Ernest Harris, both of Selma; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Harris was preceded in death by his first wife, Delene Jones Harris.

Harris, Bessie Durbin

Mrs. Bessie Durbin Harris, Wife of Grover C. Harris, rural mail Carrier on Route 3, died in a hospital in Montgomery, Sat., April 18, she was daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Durbin of Fairview. She left her Husband, G. C. Harris, Son G. C. Harris, Jr. and daughter Elizabeth, she was a member Clanton Baptist Church. Burial was at Samaria Cemetery.

Harris, Edna Gore
October 14, 1914 - February 16, 2000
Funeral services for Edna Gore Harris, 85, Clanton, will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Gary Voyles officiating. Burial will follow at Martin Memorial cemetery in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be on Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, at Martin Funeral Home Chapel form 6-8 p.m. Harris was born on Oct. 14, 1914, in Chilton County, the daughter of the late Robert B. and Mary Loutisha Gore. She was a cattle farmer owner and operator. She died on Feb. 16, 2000, at Shelby Ridge Nursing Home in Alabaster. Survivors include on daughter, Judy H. Wiggins, Vestavia Hills; and two granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dolphus Watson Harris.

H. A .J. Harris died at his home in South Clanton last Wed. about 9 o'clock. He died suddenly. He was the father of H. A., Grover, Grady, and Cecil Harris and of Mrs. Ed Wagoner, Mrs. John Parrish, Miss Ressie and Miss Dolly Mae Harris. Burial was at Chestnut Creek Cemetery.

Burial will follow at Alpine Baptist cemetery in Plantersville. Born on Sept. 25, 1937 to Clarence H. Harrison and Eva Lou Harrison of Chilton County, he died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003 at Chilton Medical Center. Survivors include his wife Louise Harrison of Clanton; daughters Patricia Harrison of Maplesville and Patsy Hughes of Selma; sons Odis E. Harrison of Clanton and Roger L. Harrison of Clanton; brothers Jesse Harrison of Plantersville, Raymond Harrison of Maplesville and David Harrison of Maplesville; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ethel Rea Harrison, 84, of Stanton, died Friday, May 23, 2003, at Dunn Nursing Home. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 25, at Ebenezer Baptist cemetery with the Rev. Billy Harrison officiating and Martin Funeral Home directing. She is survived by her husband, Lumon Odean Harrison of Selma. Visitation will be at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday at Martin Funeral Home Chapel (family only).
Graveside services for Ethel Rea Harrison, 84 of Stanton, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday May 25, 2003 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Stanton with Billy Harrison officiating. Born on June 20, 1918 to Albert Dyer and Bertha Dyer, she died May 23, 2003 at Dunn Nursing Home in Selma. Survivors include her husband Lumon Odean Harrison of Selma.

Terry Smith, Rev. Morris Horton and Rev. Lloyd Champion. Funeral director Martin Funeral Home. Surviving relatives include: Husband Mr. Clarence H. Harrison of Maplesville, daughter Mrs. Evie Lou Taylor of Warner Robbins, Ga., four sons Mr. David H. Harrison, Mr. Raymond E. Harrison, Mr. Jessie H. Harrison, and Mr. Clarence O. Harrison, all of Maplesville. Two sisters Mrs. Lillie Nichols of Plantersville, and Mrs. Sarah Smitherman of Maplesville. Four Brothers Mr. A. W. Wright of Clanton, Mr. Norman Wright of Plantersville, Mr. Thomas Wright also of Plantersville, and Mr. O. V. Wright of Stanton, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Townsend Hayes. He also worked as an auto mechanic and served in the U.S. Air Force. He died Aug. 18, 1998, at his residence in Plantersville. He is survived by his wife, Celeste Hayes of Graceville, Fla.; three Sons: Billy (Ann) Hayes, Jr. of Matthews, Bobby Sam (Renee) Hayes of Troy and Ben Hayes of Prattville; a daughter, Jackie (Frank) Walker of Union Springs; a brother, Bobby Hayes of Billingsley; and seven grandchildren.

He died on Dec. 1, 2001, at Shelby Medical Center in Alabaster. Survivors include one companion, Mary L. Martin, Jemison; one son, Clay Hayes, Cape May, N. J.; two daughters, Marcy Fresco and Becky McQuinn, both of Cape May, N.J.; his mother, Marzelle Mims Hayes, Clanton; four sisters, Betty Robinson and Jane Gore, both of Clanton, Peggy Crawford, LaGrange, Ky., JoAnn Ricks, Birmingham; four brothers, Howard Hayes, Birmingham, Harry Hayes and Robert Hayes, both of Maplesville, and Gary Hayes, Jemison.

Hayes was born on May 26, 1924, in Chilton County, the son of the late William Enoch and Ethel Landers Hayes. He was in the U.S. Army from Dec. 9, 1944 to Nov. 30, 1951. He died at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Tuskegee on Oct. 27, 2000. Survivors include one son, Jeffrey L. Hayes, Clanton; three daughters, Cathy Diane Forrester and Cheryl L. Henderson, both of Clanton, and Sandra K. Novack, Birmingham; one brother, E. J. Hayes, Maplesville; four sisters, Zanie Roseberry, Catherine Gentry, and Ruth M. Davis, all of Clanton, and Vonzelle Roseberry, Maplesville; and seven grandchildren.
