Services for Leo M. Headley, 89, of Clanton, were held on Jan. 4, 1998, at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jamie Barkley officiating. Burial was at Mt. Pisgah Methodist cemetery with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mr. Headley died on Jan. 1, 1998, at Forestdale Healthcare Center in Birmingham. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Carolyn Headley of Clanton, one son; Leo M. Headley, Jr. of Clanton, two daughters; Nina Burkhalter, of Montgomery, Loretta Headley of Birmingham, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Odis G. Headley, 74, of Clanton, died Thursday, February 24. Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Louene Headley of Clanton; daughter, Vickie Headley of Prattville; three sons, Rickie Headley, Buster Headley and Joe Headley, all of Clanton; brother, R. D. Headley of Clanton; two sisters, Ressie Jones and Lucille Headley, both of Clanton; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held today at Martin Funeral Home Chapel at 3 p.m. with Rev. Tony Thomas and Rev. Jerry Miliken officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Instead of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinsons Foundations.

Odis Lee Forest Headley Services for Odis Headley, 93, of Clanton, were held May 29 with burial at Thorsby Memory Gardens. Reverend Tony Hughes officiated. Mr. Headley, a farmer, died May 27. Survivors include his son, Royce Headley of Birmingham; daughters, Golda Thomas, Denise Horton and Karen Goggins of Clanton and Nelda Goggins of Jemison; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Pearlie Headley died at her home in Clanton last Thur. age 87. Husband was Elijah Headley, left 6 adult Children. She was born 1834 and before her marriage she was Pearlie Henley, married 1855 for 73 years she was a member of the Methodist Church.

Burial will follow at Martin Memorial cemetery in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Headley was born on July 13, 1911, in Chilton Co. the daughter of the late Billy Foshee and the late Susie Foshee. She was an Accounting Clerk. She died on Jan. 12, 2003, at Chilton Medical Center. Survivors include one son, Frederick O'Dell Headley, Clanton, a borhter, Lloyd Foshee, Clanton, grandchildren, Rachel Michelle Youngman, Jacksonville, Jason Frederick O'Dell Headley, Clanton, Pamela Brooke Headley, Clanton, Josh Easterling, Clanton, Matt Easterling, Clanton; great grandchildren Charles Brantley Sazera, Jemison, Bailey Nichole Sazera, Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her husband, O'Dell Headley.

Funeral services for Virgil Worthy Headley, 96, Wetumpka, were held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Joey Green officiating. Burial followed at Pleasant Grove Methodist cemetery in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Headley was born on Jan. 17, 1905, in Alabama, the son of the late Walter Headley and the late Lucella Mims Headley. He was a farmer. He died on Jan. 3, 2002, at his residence. Survivors include one brother, Odis Headley, Thorsby; three sons, Roger Headley and Danny Headley, both of Clanton, and Steve Headley, Marbury; five daughters, Annette Feaster, Prattville, Joan Lockhart, Wetumpka, Theresa Shavers and Tammy Nelson, both of Clanton, Stacy Langston, Jemison; and 23 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four sons, Terry Headley, Lake Headley, Gerald Headley, and Lloyd Headley.

Henley, Ricky Austin

Graveside services for Ricky Austin Henley, 50, Shelby, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 22, 2002, at New Shelby Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Tom Minor officiating and Charter Funeral Home of Alabaster directing. Austin was a member of Shelby Baptist Church and was a self-employed construction painter. He died on Wednesday, March 20, 2002. Survivors include his wife, Christine Henley, one son, William T. Henley, Thorsby; one daughter-in-law, Sonja Henley, Thorsby; one grandmother, Lena Henley, Clanton; two sisters, Pam New, Shelby, and Pat Baker, Clanton; two granddaughters, Hannah and Madison Henley; as well as other family and friends.

1924 - August 14, 2004
Frances Lucile Henry Services for Frances Lucile Henry, 80, of Clanton, were Sunday, August 15 at Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Gregg Thurman officiating. Mrs. Henry died August 14 at her residence. Survivors include her husband, R. C. Henry of Clanton; four sons, Dwight Henry of Jemison, Mike Henry of Alabaster, Phillip Henry of Jemison and Frank Henry of Briarfield; three daughters, Sue Vanderslice of Jemison, Becky Lucas of Jemison and Dorothy Thurman of Arkansas; five sisters, Betty McKay of Huntsville, Annie Marie Bruner of Montgomery, Margaret Martin of Jemison, Jimmie Lee Mullins of Wilsonville and Louise Littleton of Maplesville; 19 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Pat Henry.

Burial will follow in Thorsby Memorial Cemetery. Born on May 20, 1926 to Homer Henson and Minnie Henson, she died May 21, 2003 at Shelby Medical Center in Alabaster. Survivors include her daughter Nina (Jerry Sr.) Tippett of Clanton; grandsons Jerry Tippett, Jr. of Clanton and Kyle Collins of Phoenix, Ariz.; granddaughter Renee Collins of Washington; great-grandchild Crimsynn Tippett of Clanton; sister Ruth Brown of Clanton.

Funeral services for Curtis K. Hicks, 67, Lawley, will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at 2 p.m. at Tabernacle Methodist Church, with Rev. Michael Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Tabernacle Methodist Church cemetery in Lawley, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Hicks was born on Sept. 2, 1932, in Alabama, the son of the late Hamner J. and Clara Hicks. He was a conductor and served in the Navy from July 31, 1951, to July 26, 1955. He died on Oct. 10, 1999, at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hicks, Lawley; his daughter, Sharon Hicks Jinks, Decatur; three sons, Randall Hicks and Darrell Hicks, both of Lawley, and Brian Hicks, Selma; two sisters, Edna Fondren and Alma Deese, both of Brent; and seven grandchildren.

Hicks and Barbara Hicks of Dallas County, he died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003 at his home. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Hicks of Lawley; daughter Brittany Hicks of Lawley; sons Joshua Hicks of Lawley and Tyler Smith of Lawley; mother Barbara Hicks of Lawley; sister Sharon H. JInks of Decatur; brothers Randall Hicks of Lawley and Brian Hicks of Selma.

Hicks was born on March 17, 1932, in Chilton County, the daughter of John Childress and Lila Mae Davenport Childress. She was a stenographer. She died on April 5, 2000, at her residence. Survivors include her husband, William Leon Hicks, Clanton; one daughter, Luann Hicks Williams, Prattville; and three grandsons.

Hicks and the late Edna Young. Services were held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, Sunday, January 23 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Ty Partern officiating. Burial followed in the Plantersville Christian Cemetery.

Jim Shannon officiating and Martin Funeral Home directing. Hicks was born on April 21, 1910, in Alabama, the son of the late Elmore and Lafayette Hicks. He was a sawmill worker. He died on June 8, 1999, at Sunrise Care and Rehab of Elmore in Elmore County. Survivors include on son, Billy Hicks, Clanton; and two sisters, Maggie Davenport, Jemison and Mae Waldrop, Thorsby.

Hicks, Mary Edwards
January 09, 1875 - June 08, 1962
Mrs. Mary Edwards Hicks, age 87, (born January 9, 1875). Born and reared in the rural section of Bibb County, near Lawley, Alabama, the daughter of the late Frances Belvin Edwards, and the late Bennett S. Edwards, died June 8, 1962 (Friday) in the Chilton County Hospital, Clanton, Alabama at approximately 12: 50 A.M. Funeral services at the Rehobeth Baptist Church, Lawley, Alabama 3 P.M. June 9th. The Rev. J. R. Robinson of Notasulga, Alabama was in charge of services and was assisted by the Rev. Eddie Ruddick of Huntsville, Rev. Grady Williams of Clanton, Alabama and the Rev. Lloyd Jones of Stanton, Alabama. Pallbearers were Archie McKinney, William Lee Gay, Millard Reynolds, Melvin Carter, C.C. Gay, Jr. Manley and Hershel Parnell. In charge of the huge floral arrangements were: Mrs. John T. O'Neal, assisted by Ms. Pauline Carroll, Mrs. William Ruddick. Mrs. Hicks, early in life joined Tabernacle Methodist Church. She married I. U. W. Hicks, son of the late Rev. I. M. Hicks of Lawley, Alabama when 17 years of age and soon afterwards joining the Rehobeth Baptist Church accepting the faith of her husband and remained a member of that church until her death. She was a charter member of the Adult Sunday School Class of this church and the eldest member of the Plantersville, Alabama Eastern Star Chapter No.309. Mrs. Hicks was deeply loved and respected by all who knew her. She shared with those less fortunate; lending a helping hand at all times with those in need. She was an excellent neighbor, an affectionate and loving wife and mother-never complaining. Mrs. Hicks loved life and people. Greeted visitors to the last at her home with a smile and asked them to come back to see her. Mrs. Hicks was critically ill from Thursday May 31st remaining in the home until Monday night, June 4th, when she was removed by Martin's Ambulance to the Chilton County Hospital, Clanton, Ala. Friends and relatives gathered from near and far to attend the last rites of their loved one.

Deputy Richard A. Hicks of Thorsby dropped dead at the Court House in Clanton Monday. He was 57, native of Pletcher. Funeral was conducted by Rev. G.G. Williams at Thorsby Baptist Church. Burial at new Cedron Cemetery. (Some years later his body was moved to Thorsby Cemetery.) He is survived by his Wife, Mrs. Leila Williams Hicks, 2 Sons William L. Hicks, and Richard A. Hicks, Jr., 2 Brothers Lloyd of Elmore and Rufus Hicks. 5 Sisters: Mrs. Ida Wilson, Mrs. Mary Wilson, Mrs. Leila Keith, Mrs. Lula Rhodes, Mrs. Ella Huett, and Mrs. Beulah Patton.
