Graveside services for Jessie Delene Horton, 95, Verbena, were held at Liberty Hill Baptist Church cemetery in Clanton on Sunday, April 9, 2000, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Donnie Messer officiating and Martin Funeral Home directing. Horton was born on Aug. 9, 1904, in Alabama, the daughter of the late Joseph Alexander and Virginia Magnolia Logan. She was a homemaker. She died at her residence on April 8, 2000. Survivors include her husband, John Henry Horton, Verbena; two daughters, Virginia Farley, Pleasant Grove, and Patricia Myers, Verbena; two sisters, Mazie Bavar, Trussville, and Mary Joe Rasco, Jemison; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Logan, John B. Cooper, Ala., age 92, died March 3, 1966, in the hospital and funeral services were held March 5, 11:00 am., at Chestnut Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include: 4 sons, George Logan, Rockford, Luther Logan, Tennessee, Henry Logan, Verbena, Lesley Logan, Huntsville; 4 daughters, Miss Hattie Logan, Clanton, Mrs. Viola DeVaughan, Coopers, Mrs. Clara Davis, Huntsville, and Mrs. Vera Haywood, Birmingham, one brother Curtis Logan, Thorsby, 2 sisters Mrs. Rene White, Clanton and Mrs. Bama Jones, Verbena. Union Banner, March 1966.

Longcrier, William Franklin
December 23, 1881 - June 16, 1944
William Franklin Longcrier, age 62, died at Florence Fri. Burial was at Florence, Ala. Cemetery. He is survived by his Wife, 4 Sons, 1 Daughter. He lived here some 25 years ago and built several of Clanton's Buildings. He was originally from Jones Station in Autauga Co., Ala.

Burial was in New Cedron Baptist cemetery in Clanton with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Wilkins was born June 22, 1934, in Oregon to the late Leatis and Margaret Strasser Love. She was a homemaker. She died Aug. 4, 1998 at her residence in Clanton. She is survived by her husband, Billy T. Wilkins of Clanton; four sons: Kenneth Wayne (Linda) Gorum of Clanton, Michael Thomas (Sherry) Wilkins of Oxford, Gregory Lowell (Sherry) Wilkins of Oxford, and Billy Frank (Felecia) Wilkins of Clanton; Three daughters: Janis Louise (Danny) Bandy of Marbury, Lynnett Kay (Mike) Stinson of Eastaboga, and Margaret Ellen (James) Jarvis of Clanton; a brother, Louis P. Love of Medford, Ore.; a sister, Delphine Stephens of Portland, Ore.; 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Allie D. Nobles, 80, Trussville, were held on Monday, April 10, 2000, at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds. Burial followed at Forest Crest Cemetery. She died on Saturday, April 8, 2000. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Mitchell, New Orleans, La., Patty Burton, Greenwood, S.C. and Linda Crocker, Branchville; one son, Joe Nobles, Moody; one brother, Sonny Lovelady, Maplesville; two sisters, Billie Woods and Betty Deason, both of Selma, and Louise Ferguson, Maplesville; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Alvis Lovelady Sample, 86, died Wednesday February 23, 2005, at a local hospital. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 27, 2005, at Plantersville Methodist Church, with Rev. Ed Cumbie and Rev. Earl Watson officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow at Plantersville Methodist Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. Saturday, at Lawrence Funeral Home. Mrs. Sample is survived by one daughter, Brenda S. (David) Cox of Plantersville; one grandson, Kevin D. (Alicia) Cox of Prattville; one granddaughter, Kimberly C. (Darrin) Payton of Clanton, six great grandchildren, Adrian and Austin Cox, Connor and Katie Payton, Mckenna Meeks and Laken Britton; and one sister, Ruth Lovelady Johnson of Gardendale; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Julius A. Sample. Active pallbearers will be Roy Johnson, Harold Johnson, Bill Lovelady, Larry Lovelady, Glenn Walker, and 'Kenneth Lovelady. Honorary pallbearers will be Men of Plantersville Methodist Church.

Bluthie Lovelady Crowe

Bluthie Lovelady Crowe, age 65, died January 15, at Selma Baptist Hospital. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Lottie Nichols of Maplesville and Miss Ollie Lovelady of Selma; one brother, J.K. Lovelady of Plantersville; three sons, W.B. Crowe, Jr., of Clanton, Lovie K. Crowe of Birmingham, and Billy Carl Crowe of Mobile and four grandchildren. Services were held at Lawrence Chapel in Selma with interment at Plantersville Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Glenn Napier, Jr. officiating.

Lovelady, Doss L. 'Sonny'

Graveside services for Doss Lovelady, 73, of Maplesville, were held June 7 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Reverends Ty Parten and Jason Vinson officiated. Mr. Lovelady, a millwright, died June 5. Survivors include his daughters, Karen Jones of Plantersville and Joyce Shanks of Maplesville; sisters, Billie Woods of Selma, Louise Fergueson of Maplesville and Betty Deason of Selma; four grandsons and four great-grandchildren.

Mae Lovelady Mizzell
August 10, 1902 - July 13, 1997
Funeral services for Mae Lovelady Mizzell, 94 of Jones, will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 1997 at the Chilton Memorial Gardens at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Hymon Atcheson officiating. Burial will be at the Chilton Memorial Gardens with the Martin Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Mizzell was born in Chilton County on August 10, 1902 to the Late Will Lovelady and Susie Atchison Lovelady. She died at the Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma on July 13, 1997. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ruby Mae and Tommie Joe Fulford, Jones; two sisters, Willie Dale Thomas, Marion; and Hattie Bell Fuqua, Anniston.

Mrs. Mary Bearden, age 66, died Clanton Rt. 3, Aug. 29. Burial at Bethsalem Cemetery. She is survived by her Husband, Charles Bearden, 5 Sons, and 4 Daughters, 1 Bro., Morgan Lovelady of Plantersville, and by 1 Sister.

Lovelady, Mary Pauline

Funeral services for Mary Pauline Lovelady, 88, of Maplesville were Jan. 20, 1999, at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Gatlin officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Maplesville with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Lovelady was born Sept 22, 1910, in Alabama to the late Charlie and Ila Bell Herman. She was a homemaker. She died Jan. 18, 1999, at Druid City Hospital in Tuscaloosa. She is survived by three daughters: Jennie M. Lucas, Isla Lou Wallace and Barbara Lovelady, all of Maplesville; a son, Calvin Lovelady of Columbiana; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held at Maplesville Baptist Church on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2002, from 6-8 p.m. Lovelady was born on Jan. 7, 1933, in Alabama, the daughter of the late Julius Westley Taylor and the late Mary Ola Taylor. She was a homemaker. She died on Sept. 15, 2002. Survivors include her husband, Doss (Sonny) Lovelady, Maplesville; two daughters, Joyce Shanks, Maplesville, Karen Jones, Plantersville; two sons-in-law, Mike Shanks, Maplesville, Larry Jones, Plantersville; four grandchildren, Lance Jones and Nick Jones, both of Plantersville, Brandon Shanks and Jeffery Shanks, both of Maplesville; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Morris Taylor, Maplesville; one sister, Lois Perry, Selma; one sister-in-Law. She was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Taylor.

Peggy (Lovelady) Wimberly, 51 of Plantersville died Tuesday, March 12, at a Selma hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday at Hill Crest Baptist Church, with the Rev. Doug Powell and the Rev. Donald Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens with Martin Funeral Home of Clanton directing. Survivors include her husband, Bill Wimberly of Plantersville; her mother, Mrs. Ollie M. Lovelady of Maplesville; one daughter, Susan Harrison of Maplesville; two sons, Jeff Thrasher and Robbie Thrasher, both of Plantersville; three sisters, Peggy Moore, Barbara Crocker and Sheila Wright, all of Maplesville; three brothers, Roger Lovelady of Sumter, S.C., Larry Lovelady of Maplesville and Billy Lovelady of Selma; and two grandchildren, Erika Harrison of Maplesville and Samantha Thrasher of Plantersville.

Lovelady, Ralph Gilbert

Funeral services for Ralph Gilbert Lovelady, 77, of Randolph were Oct. 4, 1998 at Randolph Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Potts officiating. Burial was in Rehobeth Baptist cemetery in Lawley with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mr. Lovelady was born Feb. 21, 1921 in Bibb County to the late O. B. and Elsie Hicks Lovelady. He worked as a farmer and served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a deacon and a Sunday School teacher at Randolph Baptist Church. He was also director and past president of the Chilton County Cattlemen's Association, past president of the Alabama Beef Cattle Improvement Association, and a member and past director of the Alabama Cattlemen's Association. He died Oct. 1, 1998 at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Lovelady of Randolph; two sons: Butch R. Lovelady of Alabaster and Milton C. Lovelady of Montgomery; three sisters Dorrene Smith of Huntsville, Doris Watson of Montgomery and Billie Tibbs of Jemison; and four grandchildren.

Lovering, Gertrude Irene Foshee

Graveside services for Gertrude Foshee Lovering, 91, Lakeland, Fla., will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2002 at Fitzgerald cemetery with Dukes-Steen Funeral Home of Lakeland, Fla., directing. Lovering was born in Clanton on July 14, 1910, and lived in Florida for over 50 years. She was a Baptist. Her Husband, daughter, and all of her brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Survivors include one son, Randall; one daughter-in-law, Janice; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church at the Mall Building Fund, Lakeland, Fla.

Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park. Family visitation will be held tonight, June 7, 2001 at 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Born in Chilton county, Lowery served as a foreman with Greenbriar Farms in Virginia. Lowery was also a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Navy, Lowery died on Tuesday, June 5, 2001.He is survived by his wife, Arka Dalton Lowery; daughter Cheryl Rich and her husband Ben of St. Augustine, Fla.; sons Bruce Lowery and wife Lori of Chesapeake, VA.; Jerry W. Lowery and wife Elizabeth of Cartersville, GA.; Tyrone Lowery and wife Cathy of Chesapeake, VA.; and Richard Lowery and companion Mary Mize of Chesapeake, VA.; sisters Faye Smith and Sue Bean, both of Clanton; brother James R. Lowery of Thorsby; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Smith of Bowie, Maryland; 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Pinkney Cost, and her son, F. C. (C. Buck) Cost.
