Funeral services for Katherine Murr Cleckler, 85, Clanton, will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Gary Beavers and Rev. Ray Smitherman officiating. Burial will be held at Mt. Pisgah cemetery in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Visitation will beheld at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, from 5-8 p.m. Cleckler was born on Dec. 15, 1915, in Chilton County, the daughter of the late John and Annie Popwell Murr. She was a homemaker. She died on Jan. 23, 2001, at Chilton Medical Center. Survivors include four sons, Milton Davis, Clanton, Malcom Davis, Tallahassee, Fla., William Davis, Sterrett, Larry Cleckler, Vandiver; four daughters, Merle Smitherman, Margie Smitherman, Melba Clackley, all of Clanton, Patricia Ernest, Donavant; one brother, Jim Murr, Roanoke; two sisters, Ruby Partridge, Vandiver, O'dean Cleckler, Clanton; 27 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, Clarence Davis, Jr.

Williams, Mollie Bee (Neeley)
August 12, 1902 - December 10, 2003
Services for Mollie Williams, 101, of Verbena, will be Dec. 13 at 11 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church in Verbena with burial to follow in the church yard. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be today, Dec. 12, from 5-8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home. Survivors include her daughter Hazel Kelley of Clanton, eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Andrew Nelson, 83, of Clanton are today, Feb. 26, 1999, at 2 P.M. at Zion Ridge Church of God with Rev. Robert Barnes officiating. Burial is in Mt. Pisgah/Zion Ridge cemetery in Clanton with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mr. Nelson was born Sept. 8, 1915, in Alabama to the late James Frank and MInnie Taylor Nelson. He worked as a weaver. He died Feb. 24, 1999, at his residence. He is survived by four daughters: Jeanete Hay, Geneva Cleckler, Ruthie Lett and Judy Rollan, all of Clanton" a Son, Jody Nelson of Clanton; four brothers: Lee Nelson of Clanton, Amos Nelson of Sylacauga, Hurbert Nelson of Tuscaloosa and Donald Nelson of Billingsley; four sisters: Trudy Dykes of Ohio, Myrtle Cox of Florida, Dot Howell of Florida and Betty Gray of Montgomery; six grandchildren an six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie Bell Nelson.

Reynolds, Erom (Nelson)
May 27, 1921 - June 27, 1999
Funeral services for Erom (Nelson) Reynolds, 78, Clanton, was held on Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home, with Rev. Fred Zeigler and Rev. Tom Parrish officiating. Burial followed at Hackneyville Cemetery, with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home directing. Reynolds was born on May 27, 1921, the daughter of the late Jim and Emma Nelson. She grew up in the Hackneyville community and was a long-time member of Camp Ground United Methodist Church. After spending World War II working at Brookley Air Field in Mobile, she and her husband Lowell returned to Hackneyville to raise two children. Later in life they moved to Sylacauga and operated a restaurant before retiring. Her last years were spent in Clanton where she was a member of Clanton First united Methodist Church. Reynolds died on Sunday, June 27, 1999, at Bibb County Nursing Home. She is preceded in death by a daughter, infant Sonja Carol Reynolds; a sister, Elverna Nelson; and a brother, Hoyt Nelson. Survivors include her husband, Lowell Reynolds, Clanton; one daughter, Karen Daniel, Centreville; one son, Larry Reynolds, Clanton; one nephew; and five grandchildren.

Mims, Victoria Helen (Nelson)
July 03, 1924 - August 20, 1999
Funeral services for Victoria Helen (Nelson) Mims, 75, Selma, were held on Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999, at Lawrence Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Glen Smith and Rev. Michael Downing officiating. Burial followed in the Bethsalem Baptist Church cemetery in Billingsley, with Lawrence Funeral Home of Selma directing. Active pallbearers included grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers included the deacons of Fairview Baptist Church. Mims was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. She died on Aug. 20, 199, at a local hospital. Survivors include one daughter, Dianna Adcock Cagle, Crossville; one son, David Robert Mims, Prattville; three sisters, Stella Williams, Selma, Jeweldine Nicholds, Kinley, N.C., Jerrell Hazel Pillius, Austin, Texas; two brothers, Jerry Dee Dowining, Montgomery, and Rev. Michael Downing, Oxford, Ark. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Fred Mims and two brothers, John Connie Downing, Jr., and Jack McKinley Downing.

Crowson, Katherine Louise (Newell)

Services for Kathryn Louise (Newell) Crowson, 78, of Clanton, will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Clanton, Monday, September 20 at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Trobaugh and Rev. Larry Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Southern Heritage cemetery in Pelham. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, September 19 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel. Crowson died September17.Survivors include three sons, John Noel Crowson of Waipahu, HI, William Alexander Crowson of Birmingham and Richard Davis Crowson of Melbourne, Fla.; two daughters, Elizabeth Crowson Byrd of Clanton and Ellen Crowson Johnson of Birmingham; eight grandchildren, four great- grandchildren and her sister, Mary N. Popwell of Clanton.

Nichols, Coye Nelson

Funeral services for Coye Nelson Nichols, 78, of Maplesville were Dec. 7, 1998, at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Short officiating. Interment followed at Sardis Baptist cemetery in Maplesville with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mr. Nichols was born on Sept. 18, 1920, in Alabama to the late Charlie M. Nichols and Eleanor Crocker Nichols. He died on Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998 at Shelby Medical Center in Alabaster. He is survived by one son, Columbus "Buddy" Nichols of Maplesville; a daughter-in law, Elizabeth Nichols, of Maplesville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Hollis M. Nichols, 70, Plantersville, were held on Monday, April 10, 2000, at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Bobby Hicks and Rev. Jeff Logan officiating. Burial followed at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Maplesville, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Nichols was born on Dec. 26, 1929, in Chilton County, the son of the late William Jackson and Lucy Ann Nichols. He was a minister. He died at his residence on April 8, 2000. Survivors include his wife, Lillie W. Nichols, Plantersville; one son, Tony E. Nichols, Plantersville; three brothers, William K. Nichols, Montgomery, Thurston E. Nichols, Jones, and Willie J. Nichols, Jackson; four grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

Stroud, Aline (Nivens)
February 24, 1910 - April 03, 1999
Funeral services for Aline (Nivens) Stroud, 89, Clanton, were held on Monday, April 5, 1999, at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Larry Michael officiating. Burial followed at Clanton City Cemetery, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Stroud was born in Shelby County on Feb. 24, 1910, the daughter of the late James A. and Flora Nivens. She was a homemaker. She died at Sunrise Care and Rehabilitation Center in Elmore on April 3, 1999. Among the survivors are two daughters, Helen Mims, Huntsville, and Lynn Fernandez, Gainsville, Fla; one son, William W. Stroud, Anniston; two sisters, Chloe Bennett, Birmingham, and Hazel Johnston, Montgomery; one brother, Stanley Nivens, Clanton; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Donations may be sent to First Baptist Church of Clanton in lieu of flowers.

Nivens, James Stanley 'Dutch'

Graveside services for James S. (Dutch) Nivens, 90 of Clanton, will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Martin Memorial cemetery with Rev. John D. Trobaugh and Rev. Ed Britton officiating. Born on Sept. 30, 1912 to James Austin Nivens and Flora Nivens, he died Sunday, April 13, 2003 at Chilton Medical Center. Survivors include his daughters Paula N. Starnes of Pelham and Kathy N. Robinson of Clanton; son James N. Nivens of Clanton; sister Hazel Johnston of Kentucky; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. His wife, Pauline P. Nivens, preceded him in death.

Funeral services for Bernice A. (Nix) Lawrence, 94, Clanton, will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Harland Harris and Rev. Charles Christmas officiating. Burial will follow at Martin Memorial cemetery in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Lawrence was born on March 6, 1907, in Alabama, the daughter of the late William Nix and the late Birdie Nix. She was a homemaker. She died at 11137 County Road 28 on Jan. 13, 2002. Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Willodean Lawrence, Clanton; three granddaughters, Judy Kelley and Gail Easterling, both of Clanton, Susan Moss, Montgomery; six grandsons, Richard Melton, Sr., Montgomery, Mike Agee, David Lawrence, Ronnie Lawrence, Donnie Price, Randy Melton, all of Clanton; 14 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Martin Lawrence; one son, Billy Lawrence; two daughters, Dorothy Nell Watkins and Norma Jean Melton; and one great-grandchild, Anita Agee Taylor.

Graveside services for Charles O. 'Buddy' Nix, 52, of Jemison, will be held today at 1 P.M. at Midway Memorial Gardens in Jemison, with Rev. Alvin Porter officiating and Martin Funeral Home directing. Mr. Nix was born in Chilton County on Aug 27, 1945, to Mrs. Laura Ratliff Nix and the late Floyd P. Nix. He died at his residence on Sept. 9, 1997. Mr. Nix is survived by his mother Laura Ratliff Nix of Jemison; his wife, Helen Porter Nix of Jemison; a son and daughter, Jeffrey L. Nix of Jemison and Jamie Elisa Tharp of Johannasburg, Africa; four sisters, Audrey Wadleigh of Vestavia Hills, JoAnn Cunningham of Clearwater, Fla., Sue Hardy of Marietta, Ga., and Mary Sorrell of Kingsland, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

Vine, Etha (Nix)
June 28, 1895 - January 22, 1928
Mrs. Ethna (Nix) Vine, age 32, died in a Montgomery Hospital Monday, burial was at Jemison. Her Husband, David Vines, little Son, Jack David, and one Daughter, Mary Evelyn Vines survive. She once taught school in Clanton Grammar School.

Nix, Henry Clay
January 26, 1920 - October 27, 2002
Funeral services for Henry Clay Nix, 82, Clanton, will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Ty Parten and Rev. Art Hartley officiating. Burial will follow at Maplesville Cemetery, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, from 1-2 p.m. Nix was born on Jan. 26, 1920, in Chilton County, the son of Gladys W. Nix and the late Dudley F. Nix. He was elected mayor of Maplesville in 1964 and served until resigning in February 1971, according to Maplesville Town Hall. He also served in the U. S. Army from July 11, 1942, until May 13, 1943. He died on Oct. 27, 2002, at Hatley Health Care in Clanton. Survivors include his mother, Gladys W. Nix, Maplesville; two sisters, Bess Bentley, Thorsby, Patty Graham, Maplesville; two nephews, Tom Bentley, Thorsby; Robin Graham, Jacksonville, Fla.; two nieces, Rebecca B. Gallups, Gulf Shores; Cathy Littleton, Helena. The family requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Maplesville Baptist Church.

Clapp, Margaret Nortilla (Nix)
November 26, 1915 - December 05, 2000
Funeral services for Margaret (Nix) Clapp, 85, Maplesville, will be held at Maplesville Baptist Church on Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tyrone Parten officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Maplesville, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Clapp was born on Nov. 26, 1915, the daughter of the late Harvey Matthew and Mae Nix. She was a banker. She died on Dec. 5, 2000, at Baptist Medical Center/Selma. Survivors include her husband, Edwin T. Clapp, Maplesville; three sons, Edwin T. Clapp III, Prattville, Harvey N. Clapp, Selma, Clement M. Clapp, Maplesville; one sister, Helen Nix Macon, Wetumpka; and eight grandchildren.

Kincaid, Ollie Marie (Nix)
September 29, 1904 - November 20, 1997
Services for Mrs. Ollie (Nix) Kincaid, 93, of Jemison will be held Sunday, November 23, at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Hitchcock officiating. Mrs. Kincaid died at Hatley Heath Care in Clanton November 20. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with Martin Funeral Home directing. Survivors include a son, Mr. James Monroe Kincaid of Birmingham; three daughters, Mary Frances Rasberry of Jemison, Bonnie Sue Atchison of Autaugaville and Betty Marie Moore of Maplesville; a sister, Mrs. Olis Nix Glass of Fairfield; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Martin Nix died in Texas. They formerly lived in Clanton. Mrs. Nix was a daughter of the J. M. Potts of Clanton. Burial was in Texas.

(Gene) Littleton of Helena; son Robert C. (Margie) Graham, Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandson Chris Graham of Maplesville; granddaughters Shannon Graham (Frank) Brown of Maplesville and Melissa Graham of Jacksonville, Fla; great-grandchild Graham Brown of Maplesville; mother Gladys Nix of Maplesville; sister Bess Bentley of Thorsby.

Mrs. Dorothy O'Neal Sherrer, age 47, of Marietta, Georgia, died Wednesday, July 17th. Funeral services were held Friday, July 19th, at 2:00 p.m., at Plantersville Christian Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Martin in charge. Survivors include: Her husband, John L. Sherrer, Jr., of Marietta, Georgia; one daughter, Miss Susan Claire Sherrer of Marietta, Ga.; three sons, John Thomas Sherrer, William Richard Sherrer and Michael Neal Sherrer, all of Marietta, Ga.; parents Mr.and Mrs. J.T. O'Neal of Plantersville; one sister, Mrs. James H. Dennis of Clanton; one brother, John W. O'Neal of Marietta, Georgia.
