O'Neal, Oscar Earl

Funeral services for Oscar Earl O'Neal, 96, Plantersville, were held at Plantersville Christian Church on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Barry Crowe and Rev. Otey Crisman, Jr. officiating. Burial followed at Plantersville Christian Cemetery, with Martin Funeral Home directing. O'Neal was born on Jan. 2, 1906, in Chilton County, the son of the late William McDuffey O'Neal and the late Julia Young O'Neal. He was in cattle farming. He died on Jan. 17, 2002, in Bibb County Nursing Home in Centreville. Survivors include his wife, Maudie O'Neal, Plantersville; one son, Bobby O'Neal, Stanton; one daughter, Judy Conaway, Peachtree City, Ga.; one sister, Mildred Von Schnittou, Maplesville; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Orange, Elbert J., Rev.
1905 - November 20, 2001
Graveside services for Rev. Elbert J. Orange, 96, and a resident of Birmingham, were held on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001 at Crestwood cemetery in Gadsden, with Rev. Paul Lett and Rev. Rick Hand officiating. He was the Church of God State Evangelist for Alabama and Tennessee and had built and pastored several churches over the past 80 years. He ministered in the Clanton area for a number of years and founded both the Church of God at Marbury, Glad Tidings and Sunshine Assembly of God. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Orange, and a son, Melvin E. Orange. He is survived his wife, Grace L. Orange; son, Gerald Orange and his wife, Pat, of Gadsden; a daughter, Helen O. Heaton of Birmingham; grandchildren Jack Orange and wife, LaWanna, of Birmingham, Derek Orange and wife, Jennifer, of Gadsden, Devan Orange and wife, Cristie of Gadsden, Michael Orange and Cheryl Mims, both of Clanton; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dalrymple, Jennie Lee (Orr)
December 28, 1940 - July 01, 2004
Services for Jennie Lee Dalrymple, 63, of Clanton, were Saturday July 3, 2004 at Seventh Day Adventist Church at 2 p.m. with Pastor Mahoney officiating. Mrs. Dalrymple died July 1 at Brookwood Medical Center. Burial was in Martin Memorial Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Franklin Dalrymple of Clanton; a son, Thomas Jeffrey Dalrymple of Clanton; daughters Mrs. Melanie Easterling of Clanton and Misty Mims of Clanton; a sister, Mrs. Barbara Walls of Maplesville; three brothers, Thomas Orr of Prattville, Labron Orr of Douglas, and Tolly Orr of Boaz; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

O'Neal, Clara A. (Osburn)
August 24, 1906 - June 09, 1978
Clara Osburn O'Neal, Plantersville, age 71, died June 9, 1978 at Baptist Medical Center, Selma. A native of perry County she was born Aug. 24, 1906 the daughter of William Salomon Osburn and Bessie Edwards Osburn. Survivors include the husband, John Thomas O'Neal, Plantersville; one daughter, Mrs. Peggy O. Dennis, Clanton; one son John William O'Neal, Plantersville, one brother Guy William Osburn, Plantersville; one sister, Mrs. Elsa Osburn Barnes; Plantersville, 12 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday, June 11, 1978 at 2 p.m. at Plantersville Christian Church with burial in church cemetery Rev. Otey Crisman and Rev. Ross Maroney officiating. Pallbearers were C.C. Gay, Jr. Morris Moates, Millard Reynolds, Wendell Smitherman, Doug Pickering and Tom Martin. Martin Funeral Home directing.

Ousley, Bobby Gene
December 16, 1931 - February 29, 2000
Graveside services for Bobby Gene Ousley, 68, Birmingham, will be held on Friday, March 3, 2000, at 2 p.m. at Alpine Baptist Church in Chilton County, with Rev. William Ratliff officiating and Jefferson Memorial of Trussville directing. Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home in Clanton on Thursday, March 2, from 5-8 p.m. Ousley was retired after 37 years of service to SMI Steel and Conners Steel. He was a member of Ruhama Baptist Church and of various fraternal, service, and civic organizations. He also served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He died on Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000. Survivors include his wife Shirley Ann Ousley; one daughter, Laura Elaine Ousley; three sons Scott Elton Ousley, Steven Lee Ousley and David Ray Ousley; one brother, Odis Otto Ousley; one niece; one nephew; and three grandchildren.

Ousley, Bruce
June 29, 1913 - August 11, 1992
Services for Burce Ousley, 79, of Plantersville were August 13 at 2 p.m. at Alpine Baptist Church with the Rev. William Short and the Rev. Ernest Ratliff officiating. Burial was in the Alpine Baptist cemetery in Plantersville with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mr. Ousley died August 11 in Autauga Medical Center in Prattville. He is survived by his wife, Edna H. Ousley of Plantersville; three daughters: Brenda Ousley Klinner of Daphne, Mary Ousley Nichols of Plantersville and Edna Ousley of Jones; six sons: Billy Robert Ousley of Billingsley, James Bruce Ousley of Prattville, Homer Eugene Ousley of Clanton, John Daniel Ousley and Earl Wayne Ousley, both of Plantersville and Charles Alvin Ousley of Maplesville; a sister, Molly O. Smith of Clanton; 24 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Joe Thomas Ousley and a daughter, Martha Jane Ousley.

Edna Herrod Ousley, 85, of Plantersville, died Monday, December 22, 2003.Services were at 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 24, at Alpine Baptist Church. Plantersville, with the Rev. Billy Wyatt and the Rev. William Earl Short officiating. Burial followed in Alpine Baptist Church cemetery with Martin Funeral Home directing. Survivors include six sons, Bill (Faye) Ousley of Billingsley, James (Bobbie) Ousley of Prattville, Gene (Brenda) Ousley of Clanton, Danny (Gloria) Ousley, Wayne (Libby) Ousley all Plantersville, Charles (Pam) Ousley of Maplesville; three daughters, Brenda Klinner of Daphne, Mary (Tony) Nichols of Plantersville, Edna (Billy) Hester of Billingsley; one daughter-in-law, Sandra (Charlie) Maples of Loxley; 25 grandchildren; 38 great- grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Olga (Martin) Ousley of Mobile and Elsie (Homer) Boor of Plantersville; sister-in-law, Molly Smith, Clanton. She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce Ousley, son Joe Ousley, and daughter Martha Ousley. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Thomas Hester, Brian Ousley, Roy Ousley, Barry Ousley, Cliff Ousley, Kyle Klinner. Honorary pallbearers are the grandsons, Tracy Nichols, Rusty Ousley, Bert Ousley, Jody Ousley, Rickey Ousley, Jason Ousley, Chris Ousley, Steven Ousley, Craig Nichols, and Bruce Klinner
Services for Edna Ousley, 85, of Plantersville were held Dec. 24 at Alpine Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church yard with Reverends Billy Wyatt and William Earl Short officiating. Mrs. Ousley died Dec. 22. Survivors include her sons, Bill Ousley of Billingsley, James Ousley of Prattville, Gene Ousley of Clanton, Danny Ousley of Plantersville, Wayne Ousley of Plantersville and Charles Ousley of Maplesville; daughters, Brenda Klinner of Daphne, Mary Nichols of Plantersville and Edna Hester of Billingsley; sisters, Olga Ousley of Mobile and Elsie Boor of Plantersville; 25 grandchildren; 38-great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Ousley, Ida Legrand
November 29, 1866 - December 27, 1939
On December 27, 1939 the death angel visited the home of Mr. T. A. Ousley of the Alpine community and took away his loving companion, Mrs. Ida Ousley, formerly Miss Ida Chandler. Mrs. Ousley was seventy-one years of age. Burial was in the Alpine cemetery December 28, 1939. Surviving are the husband, Mr. T. A. Ousley; eight children, Charlie Ousley, William Clyde Ousley of Plantersville; Wade Ousley of Selma, Adolphus Ousely of Clanton; Mrs. Bonita Poe of Selma; Mrs. Pearl Price of Lanett, Ala.; Mrs. Idell Beasley of Mobile and Mrs. Ruth Rupple of New Orleans. Eleven grandchildren also survive and two great grandchildren. She has one brother, Mr. Johnny Chandler of Billingsley. Husband, children and grandchildren wish to thank their many friends and neighbors for the many kind words of sympathy expressed during the illness and death of our loved one.

Net I. Ousley, 74 of Clanton died January 4. She was a native of Chilton County. Survivors include the husband, Clayton A. (Doc) Ousley of Clanton; one daughter, Doris Dean Rhodes of Thorsby; two sons, Preston and Tommy Ousley, Both of Sylacauga; one brother, Thomas Chandler of Oneonta; one sister, Clara Langston of Atlanta, Georgia; six grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 6, 11:00 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Martin Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Jadie Ellison and Rev. Morris Holbomb officiated. Martin Funeral.

Ousley, Wade Oral
1907 - February 24, 1990
Wade Orel Ousley, 82, of Plantersville, died Saturday, Feb. 24, in a Selma hospital. Services will be 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, at Alpine Baptist Church with the Rev. Lloyd Champion officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing. His survivors include two daughters, Lois O. Suddeth of Selma, and Estelle Waldrop of Greensboro; two sons, Jerry L. Ousley of Sylacauga, and Wade J. (Jack) of Selma; one brother, C.A. (Doc) Ousley of Clanton; and 11 grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Overstreet, Charles Edward
April 30, 1930 - April 20, 2001
Funeral services for Charles Edward Overstreet, 70 and a resident of Shelby, Ala., were held on Monday, April 23, 2001 at New Hope Baptist Church, with Brother Calvin Smitherman officiating. Interment followed at New Hope Baptist Church cemetery in Jemison.

Klinner, Gertie May (Owen)
March 07, 1914 - August 22, 2004
Services for Gertie Mae Klinner, 90, of Prattville, are Wednesday, August 25 at Martin Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with Rev. Scott Tuell officiating. Visitation is today at Martin Funeral Home Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Mrs. Klinner died August 22 at the Prattville Nursing Home. Survivors include her sister, Louise Ratliff of Maplesville and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Klinner.

Owens, Martha J. 'Mattie'
December 16, 1845 - December 10, 1925
Mrs. Mattie Owens of Shiloh, who would have been 80 years old on Dec. 16, died at her home near Shiloh Monday. Her first Husband was James Wilson: 2 Children: Albert Wilson and Mrs. Jim Weldon, Second Husband was Mr. A. C. Poole. Children were Fonza, Walter, and John Poole, Mrs. Bay Fiquette, Mrs. Lula Pierce, and Mrs. Perry of Jasper. She married Mr. Owens 3 years ago. One Brother, J. J. Armstrong of Clanton, 2 Sisters, Mrs. M. H. Henley and Mrs. Laura Aldreidge. She was the daughter. of Mrs. Dick Edwards who died at age 100. Burial was at Shiloh.

Services for Mrs. Olena Owens Lowery, 82 of Jemison were held on Sunday, Jan 4, 1998, at Archers Chapel Methodist-Protestant Church in Jemison, Burial was at Archers Chapel cemetery with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Lowery died at her residence in Jemison. She is survived by four daughters: Frances Talley of Calera, Ruvon Defee of Highland Home, Mary Ingram and Georgia Anderson of Jemison, one son: Rudolph Lowery of Jemison, 15 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary Frances Latham died Sunday. Burial was at the Clanton City Cemetery. She is survived by 2 Daughters, 1 Son, 1 Brother, 3 Nieces, Mrs. E.E. Upchurch, Mrs. J.T. Ellis, and Miss Della Latham.

Thomas A. Palmer, age 68, died Wednesday. Burial was at Clanton City Cemetery. He is survived by his Wife, 1 Son, B. T. Palmer of Texas, 1 Sister, and 1 Brother.

Parker, Carl Edwin
April 24, 1923 - May 16, 2001
Graveside services for Carl Edwin Parker, 78, Clanton, will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Martin Memorial Cemetery, with Rev. Milton Morris officiating. and Martin Funeral Home directing. Parker was born on April 24, 1923, in Chilton County, the son of the late Aaron Jessie Parker and the late Annie Parker. He was a long shoreman and was in the Army from Jan. 25, 1943, until Nov. 25, 1945. He died on May 16, 2001, at 16776 Highway 42 in Shelby . Survivors include one brother, A. H. Parker, Mobile.

Parmer, Florence A.
November 11, 1886 - June 21, 1950
Mrs. Florence A. Parmer, age 63, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Otto Jones, in Clanton, Wednesday morning, June 21st, at 11:30 o'clock. Services were held at the Jones home Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. John Smith. Burial was in Clanton Cemetery, Martin directing. Pallbearers were: C. C. Fiquette, James Wade, W. E. Huddleston, Milton Barth, O. L. Reynolds and Jerry Bodden. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Jones of Clanton and Mrs. Florence Murphree of Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Alex Glasscock and T. J. Glasscock, both of Mobile; two sisters, Mrs. Mary H. Perry, of Montgomery and Mrs. Elizabeth Crawford of Akron, Ohio, and Miami, Fla. There is one grand daughter. The daughter of John H. and Anna Fleming Hancock, the deceased was born in Montgomery November 11, 1886. She was the youngest of eight children, a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Montgomery, and a charter member of the Cradle Roll of that church. She became employed by the U. S. Government in 1915 at Camp Sheridan in Montgomery, and retired from government service this past January 1st. For the past 25 years she was in the postal department at Miami Beach and Miami, Fla. She has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Jones in Clanton since last November.

Graveside services for Verna Lou Parnell, 92, of Stanton were Sept. 24, 1997, at the Ebenezer cemetery in Stanton with Rev. Lloyd Jones and Rev. Stanley Kendall officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Parnell died Sept. 23, 1997, at a hospital in Selma. She is survived by a son, James H. Parnell of Stanton; a daughter, Peggy Parnell Bearden of Maplesville; a sister, Arthilla Friday Parnell of Stanton; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Birdie Parrish, Widow of the Late G.W. Parrish died in Clanton last Week of Pneumonia. Burial Concord Cemetery, her Sons were Clarence Parrish, Evan Parrish, Leonard and Howard Parrish, her Daughters were: Mrs. Grady Borland of Albany, GA., Sallie Parrish, and Inez Parrish of Clanton.
