Parrish, Elijah Hillman
January 21, 1849 - July 25, 1944
Elijah Hilman Parrish, age 95, died at home of Dr. W.L. Parrish Tuesday. Burial was at Concord Cemetery. He is survived by 3 Sons, Sam of Marbury, Prof. John M. and Dr. W.L. of Clanton, 1 Foster Daughter, Mrs. Lettie Dupree Gafford of Birmingham, 2 Sisters. He was born 1-21 1849. He lived all his life in the Concord Community.
Elijah Hillman Parrish who died July 25 at age 95, was born 1-21-1849. He was the Son of James Monroe and Jane Mims Parrish, his Grandfather was also named Elijah Hillman Parrish and moved here in 1818 from North Carolina when James Monroe was an Infant.

Mr. G. W. Parrish died near Clanton Monday of Measles, age 35, leaves Wife and several children, burial Concord Cemetery.

Parrish, John Paul

John Paul Parrish Graveside services for John Parrish, 78, of Clanton, will be held today, June 4, at 3 p.m. at Martin Memorial Cemetery. Reverend Tony Smitherman and Staff Sergeant O'Neal Cleckler will officiate. Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home from 1-2:30 p.m. prior to burial. Mr. Parrish, a retired Army First Sergeant and leather craftsman, died June 2. Survivors include his son, Michael Parrish; daughter, Paula Stokes; grandson, David Parrish of San Antonio, Texas; granddaughters, April and Beth Calloway; brother, W. J. "Dick" Parrish; numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Homeland Assisted Living, 149 1st. Ave., Jemison, or The American Cancer Society.

Parrish, Louisa Ellee

Mrs. L. E. Parrish, Wife of T. P. Parrish, of Clanton was buried at Samaria April 30. She was 65. She was the oldest Child of Gen. and Mrs. J. W. E. Gulledge.

Haggard, Charlie Parnell 'Charlie', Rev.

Funeral services for Rev. Charles Parnell "Charlie" Haggard, 92, and a resident of Maplesville, were held on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001 at Maplesville Baptist Church, with Rev. Tyrone Parten and Rev. Art Hartley officiating. Interment followed at Maplesville Cemetery. Born on July 21, 1908, he was the son of the late James D. Haggard and the late Bessie Haggard. A teacher, he died on Dec. 30, 2000 at Baptist Medical Center in Selma. He is survived by his wife, Helga Haggard, of Maplesville; a sister, Annie Owen of Panama City, Fla.; two step-sons, David Stough of Maplesville and Michael Stough of Elreno, Okla.; three step-daughters, Tina Austin of Clanton, Tammy Roper of Clanton and Kelly Harrison of Maplesville; and nine grandchildren.

Robinson, Mary Elizabeth (Parrish)
April 04, 1870 - June 01, 1908
Mrs. John M. Robinson died Monday. Mrs. Elizabeth died at age 38 of consumption, she was the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. M.J. Parrish, she left 3 Children, funeral was conducted by Rev. F. M. Woods with burial in Clanton City Cemetery.

Rockett, Ruby Kathleen (Parrish)

Funeral services for Ruby Kathleen Rockett, 85, Clanton, will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, Aug. 3, 2001, at 3 p.m. with Rev. Jay Hurd officiating. Burial will follow at Martin Memorial cemetery in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Martin Funeral Home Chapel from 5:30-7 p.m. Rockett was born on Nov. 25, 1915, in Chilton County, the daughter of the late William Elijah Parrish and the late Pearl Parrish. She was a homemaker. She died on July 31, 2001, at Barfield Health Care in Guntersville. Survivors include two sons, Russell Rockett, Brownsboro, and John Rockett, Pelham; one sister, Mary Wall, Americus, Ga.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Woodrow 'Woodie' Rockett.

Services for Ruth Kate (Easterling) Parrish, 76 of Clanton were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2003 at Martin's Chapel with Rev. Tony Smitherman officiating. Graveside services followed at Martin Memorial cemetery in Clanton. Born on April 30, 1927 to Leonard Paul Easterling and Myrtle Thompson Easterling, she passed away July 10, 2003 at Hatley Healthcare. Survivors include her husband, Paul Parrish of Clanton; son Mickey (Jerry) Parrish of Clanton; daughter Paula Parrish of Clanton; grandson David (Catherine) Parrish of San Antonio, Texas; granddaughters April Calloway and Beth Calloway of Clanton; sisters Patricia (Jim) White of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Grace (Horace) Burnette of Clanton; brothers Charles (Lois) Easterling of Clanton and James Paul Easterling of Prattville; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved Aunt Annie Easterling; sister Eloise Easterling Naish; brother Kenneth Easterling; sister-in-law Grace Easterling.

Burial followed at Concord Baptist cemetery in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Parrish was born on Aug. 30, 1929, in Clanton, the son of the late William Lonnie and Annie M. Parrish. He was a rural letter carrier. He died on Feb. 28, 2000, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Nell Parrish, Clanton; one daughter, Becky Farrell, McCalla; one son Rusty Parrish, Dallas, Texas; one step-son, Maxwell Blalock, Clanton; three step-daughters, Teresa Mullins, Thorsby; Tammy Littleton, Tuscaloosa; Darlene Joiner, Clanton; two sisters, Lois Plier, Port St. Joe, Fla., and Ola Mae Toland, Panama City, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pate, F. C.

Graveside services for F. C. Pate, 68, Randolph, will be held on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Mars Hill Baptist cemetery in Jemison, with Rev. Randy Gothard, Rev. William Short, and Rev. Evie Megginson officiating and Martin Funeral Home directing. Pate was born on March 8, 1933, in Chilton County, the son of the late Houston Glenn Pate and the late Bertha Pate. He was a miner and also in maintenance. He served in the Army from Nov. 21, 1951 to Nov 5, 1953. He died on July 31, 2001, at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Pate, Randolph; eight sons, Steve Pate, Thorsby, Jeff Pate and Donal Pate, Jemison, Randy Bush, Hueytown, and Lynn Pate, Keith Pate, Dale Pate, and Chris Pate, all of Randolph; two daughters, Tisha Pate, Randolph, and Denise Davis, Hueytown; two sisters, Irene Wyatt and Lorene Wyatt, both of Thorsby; 23 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Pauline, Kenneth, and Curtis Pate.

Gulledge, Mattie Olys (Pate)

Services for Mattie Gulledge, 83, of Thorsby will be held today, Dec. 18 at 2 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Verbena cemetery with Reverends Kenny Short, Nolan Mauldin, Howell Easterling and Frank Nelson officiating. Mrs. Gulledge, a clerk, died at Chilton Medical Center Dec. 16. Survivors include her daughters, Charlotte Killingsworth and Mary Godwin, both of Thorsby; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

McCary, Willodean (Pate)

Funeral services for Willodean Scott McCary, 74 of Thorsby were Dec. 5, 1998, at Pates Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Willard Scott officiating. Burial was in Pates Chapel Baptist cemetery in Jemison with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mrs. McCary was born May 2, 1924, in Chilton County to the late Isom and Neeley Pate. She was a homemaker. She died Dec. 3, 1998, at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. She is survived by three daughters: Louise Ray of Thorsby, Dorothy Chandler of Jemison and Teresa Adams of Thorsby; a son, Rev. Douglas Scott of Thorsby; a sister, Ollie Price of Thorsby; 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gladys Miller.

Patmon, Mittie Pearl (Gibson)
1928 - October 15, 2004
Mrs. Patmon, 76, of Alabaster, died October 15. Survivors include her husband, James W. Patmon; three sons, James Michael Patmon, Mark Lynn Patmon and Timothy Michael Patmon; grandson, Matthew Lynn Patmon; great-granddaughter, McKenzie Grace Patmon; daughter, Connie Patmon Mead; sister, Merle Foshee; niece, Joyce Land and numerous other nieces and nephews. Mrs. Patmon was preceded in death by her parents, Ben C. Gibson and Martha Jane Dawson Gibson. Services were held at Charter Funeral Home on October 18 at 11 a.m. with the burial in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Patterson died Friday, August 13 in Birmingham. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Patterson of Gallion; son, Joey Patterson of Fort Smith, AK; two daughters, Jaclyn Johnson of Montevallo and Katie Patterson of Gallion; two brothers, Rev. Larry Patterson of Robertsdale and Steve Patterson of Briarfield; sister Kathy Childress of Thorsby; grandchildren, Wade Crawford, Dakota Johnson and Kaitlyn Patterson. He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Patterson and his mother, Kathleen Smith Patterson.

Burial was in Chilton Memorial Gardens in Clanton with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mr. Patterson was born March 10, to the late William and Lula Patterson. He worked as a truck driver. He died Oct. 1997 at his residence in Clanton. He is survived by his wife, Louise J. Patterson of Clanton; a daughter, Sarah Nell Polk of Clanton; a sister, Jewel P. Wyatt of Clanton; two grandsons: James Walter Polk of Clanton and Bill Polk of Grove Hill; a granddaughter, Ginger Louise Gray of Clanton; seven great-grandchildren: Shane, Heath and Kayla Polk, all of Clanton, Kevin and Trent Gray, both of Clanton, Heather Parnell of Grove Hill, and Chassidy and Trintiy Polk, both of Grove Hill; and a great-great-grandchild, Brandon Parnell of Grove Hill.

Patterson, John W.

John W. Patterson died at his Home near Clanton last Mon. He was 72. Burial was at Poplar Springs Cemetery. He is survived by his Widow and 12 Children, Edgar, Henry, Tom, Cleveland, William, Ulyses, Dewey, Dee, Mrs. Lilla Hardy, Mrs. Monroe Wyatt, Mrs. Jim DuBose, and Mrs. G. C. Ray.

Graveside services for Lera Ethel Edwards, 93, Clanton, were held at Midway Memorial Gardens in Jemison on Friday, March 31, 2000, at 11:30 a.m., with Rev. J. W. Shaw officiating and Martin Funeral Home directing. Edwards was born on April 6, 1906, in Chilton County, the daughter of the late Daniel and Elizabeth Patterson. She was formerly from Jemison and was a homemaker. She died on March 29, 2000, at Hatley Health Care in Clanton. Survivors include one daughter, Willodean E. Wright, Bloomington, Ill.; two sons Edsel Edwards, Clanton, and Charles Edwards; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert R. Edwards.

Culp, Raeford, N.C., and Walter Wayne Culp, Verbena; two daughters, Willodean Robinson, Clanton, and Lois Taylor, Birmingham; one brother, Marion Junior Arant, Clanton; one sister, Mary Jewel Mobley, Clanton; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Hayes, Louise (Patterson)

Louise P. Hayes Services for Louise Hayes, 74, of Thorsby, were held Feb. 1 at Pates Chapel Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church yard with Reverends Alvin Porter and Wayne Hughes officiated. Mrs. Hayes, a homemaker, died at her home Jan. 30. Survivors include her sons, Mack Hayes of Jemison and Rex and Phillip Hayes of Thorsby; daughter Diane Cotton of Thorsby; sister, Bernice Burnett of Thorsby; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was the daughter of Brady and Alverada Patterson.
