Funeral services for Nettie Sims Lenoir, Maplesville, will be held at HIllcrest Baptist Church on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. Doug Powell and Rev. Joe Britton officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Baptist cemetery in Maplesville with Martin Funeral Home directing. Lenoir was a homemaker. She died on Feb. 11, 2002, at Vaughn Regional/Parkway in Selma. Survivors include one daughter, Patricia (Paul) Gallion, Selma; two sons, William (Peggy) Lenoir and Bobby (Sarah) Lenoir, both of Maplesville; one brother, Vaughn Sims, Huntington, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Jerry Parrish 'Blondell" Lewis, 87, Chancellor, will be held at Concord Baptist Church in Clanton on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Concord Baptist Church cemetery in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, from noon-1p.m. Lewis was born on Nov. 2, 1915, in Coffee County, the daughter of the late Charlie J. Skinner and the late Mary Ola Skinner. She was a homemaker. She died on Dec. 26, 2002, at Enterprise Medical Center. Survivors include one sister, Lillie Ineze Morris, Enterprise; three nieces, Shirley Wilson, Enterprise, Annie Sue Canta, Clarksville, Tenn., Ellen Ruth Booner, Daleville; two nephews, Jimmie Charles Morris, Mannheim, Germany, Phillip Edward Morris, Enterprise; three step-daughters, Tommie Smith, Montgomery, Olene Langford and Evelyn Bryan, both of Enterprise. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Terah Parrish and Albert Lewis; one brother, P. L. Skinner; one sister, Ruth Watkins; and one step-son, Joseph Lewis.

Smedley, James Woodrow

James Woodrow Smedley, 90, of Jones, passed away Sunday February 27, 2005 at his residence after a brief illness. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday March 3, 2005 at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Jones officiated by Rev. Ed Cumbie and directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 2, 2005 at Lawrence Funeral Home. Mr. Smedley is survived by his wife, Rubye Perkins Smedley of Jones, son, James T. Smedley 3 grandchildren Mark Smedley and his wife, Kathy, Mike Smedley, Todd Smedley, and Rebecca Smedley Ellzey; Great Grandchildren, Layce Smedley, Richard Moseley, Brandon & Rebecca Moseley, Hunter Smedley, Andrew, Owen & Catlyn Kilmury and Jim Smedley; and sisters-in-law: Grace and Evelyn Smedley, Evelyn P Crothers; brother-in-law, Robert V Perkins. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, Gray, John, and Hubert, and two sisters, Gertrude Word and Annie Parsons. He was a life-long member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. Serving as Active pallbearers will be Mark, Mike, Todd, and Jon Smedley and Don Parsons and Richard Moseley. Honorary Pallbearer will be John M. Parker.

Mr. Dolphus Sylvanious (Doc) Smith, 79, of Clanton, died January 2, 1979 at his residence. He was a native of Coosa County. Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Lillie Mae Smith; three sons, Hershel Smith, Horace Smith and Herbert smith; one sister, Mrs. Mattie Snyder; all of Clanton; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held January 3, 1979, 3 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Martin Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Calvin Ray and Rev. Thurmond Cleckler were officiating ministers. Martin Funeral HOme directed.

A memorial service for Alice Virginia Smith, age 68, and a resident of Clanton, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home, with the Honorable Sibley Reynolds and Steve Fleming officiating. Visitation will take place from 9-11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, Sept 15, 2001. Born on Jan. 25, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Berlin Victor Farris and the late Minnie Alice Farris. She served in the United States Navy and was a school teacher. She died on Sept. 10, 2001 at her residence. She is survived by her husband, Horace F. smith, of Clanton, two daughters, Jane Fleming of Birmingham and Kathryn Smith of Arab; two granddaughters, Sabrina Cleckley of Clanton and Aysha Husaini of Arab; two grandsons, Daniel Cleckley of Clanton and Sean Fleming of Birmingham; and one brother, Ralph Farris of Loganville, Ga. She was preceded in death by a daughter Barbara Cleckley. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Clanton Public Library.

Allie C. Smith, Prominent Lawyer, age 69, died at his Home in Clanton Monday night. Burial was at Samaria. He was born in Ga., Son of Miles Smith and Martha Brassel Smith. He came to Clanton from Coosa Co. several years ago. He is survived by his Wife, Mrs. Francis Smith, 2 Sons and 3 daughters.

Taylor, Callie Elizabeth (Smith)

Callie Elizabeth (Smith) Taylor: funeral services for Callie Elizabeth (Smith) Taylor, 89, will be held Sunday, Sept 29, 2002 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Evie Megginson officiating. Visitation services will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, 2002 from 4-8 p.m. She died Wednesday, Sept 25, 2002 and was a member of Union Springs Baptist Church, Tow infant daughters and one son, J. B. Popwell, preceded her in death. Her parents, James Walter Smith and Mary Rebecca Dawson also preceded her in death. Survivors include 11 children, Evelyn Smith of Jemison, Alva Covington (Ben) of Calera, Mary Omer Thompson (James) of Adamsville, Helen Huver (Rudy) of Jemison, Horace E. Taylor (Dorothy) of Jemison, Walter Taylor (Reba) of Jemison, Gracie Pope (Sam) of Abbieville, Carol Homemaker of Thorsby, Cecil Lee Taylor (Billie) of Alexandria, Dorothy Hubbard (Evan) of Billingsley and Bobby Joe Taylor of Jemison. And these she also loved, cared for and called her children as she promised: Mary Lena Lauderdale, Jessie Pearl Curl, Catherine Huver, the late William Otis Morris, the late Robbie Nell Smith, the late Betty Joe Smith, Howard Kay Smith, Mildred Faye Swann, James Elbert Smith. Survivors also included 57 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren, numerous other nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was much loved and will be much missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services for Catherine (Smith) Mims, 80, Clanton, will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church on Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tyrone Parten. Burial will follow at Shiloh Baptist cemetery in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home on Oct. 4, 2001, from 5-8 p.m. Mims was born on March 22, 1921, in Chilton County, the daughter of the late Sumpter Smith and the late Pearl Smith. She was a homemaker. She died at Dunn Nursing Home in Selma on Oct. 3, 2001. Survivors include one son, Oscar Mims, Jr., Clanton; seven daughters, Zannie Mae Dempsey, Odierene Sansom, Jerlene Mims, and Cathy Mims, all of Clanton, Betty Lou Chandler, Maplesville; Lula Mae Barnes and Frances Lester, Both of Selma; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

Smith, Charlie C.
1878 - February 01, 1940
Charlie C. Smith, age 62, formerly of the Enterprise Community was killed Feb. 1, when 2 Cars crashed on him at Lanett, Ala. He is the Father of Mrs. Obie D. DeLoach of Clanton. Mrs. Smith's Next door Neighbor in Lanett, a Mr. Green, age 47, was also crushed and he and Mr. Smith was buried in Lanett. He is survived by five Daughters and 3 Sons. "The Chilton County News, " February 8, 1940, Mr. Charlie C. Smith, formerly of the Enterprise community in this county, met a tragic death last Thursday shortly after noon when two cars collided and piled up on Mr. Smith and another man, Mr. Gunn, as the two were walking along a side walk in Lanett, Ala. Mr. Smith, age 62, is the father of Mrs. Obie D. DeLoach of Clanton; Mr. Gunn, a next door neighbor of Mr. Smith in Lanett, was 47 years old. The lives of both men were snuffed out so quickly that they likely did not realize what had happened to them. Both legs of Mr. Smith were cut off and the rest of his body mangled. The body of Mr. Gunn was badly mutilated. A double funeral was held at the Lanett Methodist Church Friday afternoon, and burial was in the Lanett cemetery. Mr. Smith, a brother of Mr. Perry Smith of Enterprise community, had been living in Lanett for several years, having moved away from Enterprise community when a young man. Surviving is the wife, five daughters-Mrs. O. D. DeLoach of Clanton, Mrs. J. C. Day of Milan, Ga., Mrs. Bill Bailey and another married daughter in Lanett, and Miss Alice Smith of Lanett; three sons, Perry L. Smith of Bessemer, Pershing Smith and Leon Smith of Lanett, Ala.

Services for Charlie Mae Smith, 86, of Clanton, will be held at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, Saturday, October 30 at 11 a.m. with Revs. Ricky Coburn and Tommy Bass officiating. Burial will follow in the Poplar Springs Baptist Cemetery. Friends will be received today from 5-8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel. Smith died October 28 at Hatley Health Care. Survivors include her son, Gary F. Smith of Atlanta; daughter, Glenda Argo of Clanton; brother, Jesse F. Thornton of Columbus, Ga; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren

Clara Ann Seymore, 78, of Selma, died Monday, Jan. 2, 1995, at her home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Plantersville Christian cemetery with the Rev. J. R. Robinson officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Survivors include her husband, James Cawthon Seymore of Selma; two sons, William James Seymore and Billy Charles Seymore of Selma; a daughter, Stella Terrell of Selma; a brother, Coleman Smith of Plantersville; and two grandchildren, Janet Hughes of Prattville and Dana Ling of Anniston. Active pallbearers will be Ed Smith, Tim Smith, Terry Vice, M. A. Pearson, Ludie Moore and Ricky Seymore.

Robinson, Clara M. (Smith)

Clara Smith Robinson, 88, of Chilton County, died Friday, June 8, 2001. Robinson was a member of Pates Chapel Baptist Church in Jemison and was a resident of Briarcliff Nursing Home for the past three years. Family and friends often remember the words of Proverbs 31:10-31 when thinking of Robinson. Her husband, Fred Robinson, her father and mother, James Thomas and Litha Jane Porter Smith; sister Chlora Maddox; brother Richard Henry Smith and grandson Rodney Lynn Price preceded Robinson in death. She is survived by one son, Osmond Robinson of Jemison; two daughters, Dot Price of Jemison and Thomasine Hamm of Montevallo and Carrolton Castlebury of Sylacauga; one brother, James Orville Smith of Jemison; six grandchildren, Gregory Robinson of Calera, Barry Robinson of Jemison, JoAnne Porter of Jemison, Reita Price of Helena, Glenn Aaron Hamm of Alabaster and Rhonda Nabors of Durham, N.C. and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 10, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Pates Chapel Baptist Church in Thorsby with Rev. Alvin Porter officiating. Pallbearers will be Gregory Robinson, Barry Robinson, Aaron Ham, Jeremy Hanes, Ronnie Nabors and Wayne Price.

Graveside services for Earle Smith, 58, of Maplesville, will be held today, March 2, at 2 p.m. at Indian Grave Cemetery. Reverend John Ingram will officiate. Mr. Smith, a mechanic, died Feb. 29. Survivors include his sons, Kevin Smith of Maplesville, Kenneth Smith of Maplesville and Tony Smith of Stanton; daughters, Emily Walker of Selma and Sarah Smith of Lawley; brother, Gary Smith of Maplesville and eight grandchildren. He was the son of C.V. and Sarah Smith.

Burial is in Cane Creek Baptist cemetery in Clanton with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Smith was born Jan. 20, 1946 in Chilton County to the late Marion and Ila Mae Ellison. She was a homemaker. She died Dec. 14, 1998 at Chilton Medical Center in Clanton. She is survived by her husband, Willie Smith of Jemison; three sons: Tim Smith of Ft. Stewart, Ga., Ricky Smith of Hoover and Kevin Smith of Jemison; six brothers: Joe Ellison of Austin, Tex., Melvin Ellison of Clanton, Marion Ellison, Jr. of Abileen, Tex., Lonnie Gene Ellison of Dayton, Ohio, and Jimmy Ellison and Harold Ellison, both of Clanton; two sisters: Annie Ruth Wilson of Clanton and Helen Dawson of Jemison; and five grandchildren.

Smith, Eunice Marie

Eunice Marie Smith, 79, formerly of Clanton and Selma, resident of Redmond, Wash., died Wednesday, Dec. 26, in Washington. Services were held Saturday, Dec. 29th in the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Dr. John Fain officiating. Burial followed at New Live Oak cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Smith was born April 4, 1922 in Clanton To William Alexander and Cora (Foshee) Brown. She was raised and went to school in Clanton and attended Thomas Junior High School. She married her classmate, Thomas Chester Davis in 1940. He died in 1941. They had one child, Hilda Marie. She married James Albert Smith in 1951. James was in the service and she traveled around with him living in several states. Upon retirement they lived several years in Selma. In 1991 she moved to Redmond, Wash., where she lived until her death. Survivors include son, Jimmy Smith of Bartlett, Tenn; daughters Hilda Mitts of Yakima, Wash., Marilyn Woodruff of Clinton, Mich. and Evelyn Mabrey of Hudson, Mich.; brothers Herman Brown and Alexander Brown; sister Marjorie Blackmon; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. in 1941 she was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Chester Davis, and in 1980 by her second husband, James Albert Smith, her parents William and Cora Brown and two brothers, Otis and Arthur Brown. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to Eastside Adult Services, 12831 NE 21st Place, Belevue, Wash. 98007 or to Marvel Serres Fund, Swedish Foundation, 747 Broadway, Seattle, Wash., 98122. The family received friends at Lawrence Funeral Home from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29.

Burial was in Martin Memorial cemetery in Clanton with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mr. Smith was born March 31, 1912, in Alabama to the late James H. and Emma Smith. He worked as a construction superintendent. He died Sept. 12, 1998, at Baptist Nursing Home in Prattville. He is survived by his wife, Laverta H. Smith of Maplesville; a son, Leslie Earl Smith of Prattville; one granddaughter and two great grandsons.

Survivors include his wife Nettie Smith of Maplesville; son George Michael (Julie) Smith, Jr. of Grapevine, Texas; daughter Stacey Deanne Smith of Cleveland, Tenn.; step-son Mike (Joyce) Shanks of Maplesville; step-daughters Jennifer (Steve) Davis of Maplesville, Janice (Ron) Smitherman of Prattville and Judy (Bobby) O'Neal of Maplesville; brothers Ray (Debra) Latham of Maplesville and Steve (Jan) Latham of Athens; grandsons Conner Smith, Rusty O'Neal and Philip Davis and Brandon and Jeffrey Shanks; granddaughters Shailie Smith, Renea Gilliland and Paige Gorman.

Survivors include her sons, Sonny Smith of Prattville and Lavell Smith of Randolph; grandsons Earl Smith of Randolph and Steve Smith of Randolph; granddaughter Amber Smith of Randolph. She was preceded in death by her husband Arnie Smith.
