Burial will follow at Union Springs Baptist Cemetery, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Smith was born on June 24, 1952 in Shelby County, the son of Mary Faye Smith and the late Julius Franklin Smith. He was a painting contractor. He died on April 26, 2000, at his residence. Survivors include Mary Faye Smith, Clanton; three daughters, Consi Love, Hueytown, Aliesha Smith, Gardendale, and Kimberly Mays, Mulga; one son, Julius Franklin (Doc) Smith, Calera; four sisters, Louvene Wallace, West Blocton, betty Smith, Clanton, And Bonnie Cox and Allene Rogers, both of Jasper; two brothers, Jimmy Smith, Alabaster, and Varney Smith, Clanton; and two granddaughters.

Smith, Lee, Jr.

Lee Smith, Jr., 78, of Maplesville, died Oct. 9 in Maplesville. He was born may 6, 1926 in Pike County the son of the late Lee Smith, Sr. and the late Ola Hayes Smith, He worked as an auxiliary Engineer for Transcontinental Gas Line. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Smith of Maplesville; son, Barry (Tasha) Smith of Maplesville; granddaughter, Andrea Smith of Maplesville; brothers, James Smith of Columbia, South Carolina and Bennie Ross Smith of St. Petersburg, Florida; sisters, Demarus Nivette of Burbank, Calif., Mary Ruth Strickland of Montgomery, Rachel Sabo of Montgomery, Maycelle Hoeger of McDonough, Geo., Colleen Cruce of Montgomery and Annette DePoe of Fayetteville, Geo. Services were held at Mulberry Baptist Church Oct. 11 at 11 a.m. with Rev. T A. Smith, Rev. Gene Hitchcock and Rev. David Bishop officiating. Burial will follow at the Mulberry Baptist Cemetery.

Smith, Lettie Hattaway

Lettie Cleckler Hattaway Smith, 93, of Sylacauga, died Tuesday, October 28, 2003, at a retirement facility in Sylacauga. Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 30, at the Chapel of Radney-Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Higginbotham officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope cemetery in Clanton. Survivors include one son, Howard Douglas Hattaway of Sylacauga; granddaughters, Karen Simmons of Sylacauga and Teresa Vigueras of Memphis, Tenn.; grandsons, David Hattaway of Biloxi, Miss., and John Hattaway of Sylacauga; great-grandson, Alex Jacobs of Demopolis; and great-granddaughter, Juliana Vigueras of Memphis, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Baxter Smith and J.P. Hattaway. Mrs. Smith was a member of Five Point Baptist Church. Her hobbies was gardening and needlework.

Martin Funeral Home will direct. Mrs. Davis died July 31. Survivors include her sons, William A. (Annie) Davis of Maplesville and Donald L. (Jean) Davis of Maplesville; daughters, Doris (T.L) Green of Selma and Sylvia ( Charles) Lewis of Maplesville; her brother, Herman Smith of Duncanville; her sister, Ollie V. Giles of Rome, GA; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey L. Davis; her daughter; Helen Ratliff and her great- great grandson, Morgan Riggs Ratliff.

Funeral services for Mrs. Louise Smith Hamilton, 75, of Clanton, were held at Martin Chapel on Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at 2 p.m. with burial in the Mt. Pisgah Methodist cemetery (Clanton) and Martin Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Hamilton, a homemaker, was born in Chilton County on Friday, January 7, 1927, the daughter of Joseph S. and Susie Rhodes Smith. She died Sunday, July 21st at Chilton Medical Center in Clanton. Surviving relatives include a daughter and son-in-law, Judy Lan and Kenneth A. Scarbrough, Clanton; a grandson, Allen L. Scarbrough, Clanton; a granddaughter, Mrs. Misti M. Brasher, Isabella; great grandchildren, Whitney and Dana Scarbrough, Clanton; and two sisters: Mrs. Dorothy Mahan and MRs. Betty Mahan, both of Clanton.

Services for Lula Smith, 75, of Clanton, will be held today, Feb. 3 at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mount Pisgah cemetery with Reverend Edna Graves officiating. Mrs. Smith, a homemaker, died at her home Feb. 1. Survivors include her son, Horace Smith of Clanton; sister, Pat Smith of Deatsville; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was the daughter of Jim and Lula Edwards.

Smith, M. C. 'Zack'
February 23, 1938 - January 15, 1997
Funeral services for M. C. "Zack" Smith, 58, of Randolph, were held on Saturday, January 18, 1997 at the Union Springs Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with the Reverends J. W. Shaw and Evie Megginson officiating. Burial was held at the Union Springs Baptist cemetery with the Martin Home directing. Mr. Smith was born on February 23, 1938 to the late Calvin and Lillie Posey Smith. He died at the Shelby Medical Center in Alabaster on January 15, 1997. He is survived by four sisters and a brother, Lucille Smith, Fannie Ruth Pate, Mary France Middleton, Elder Mae Dale and Curtis Smith, all of Randolph.

Miller, Mary Nell (Smith)

Mary Nell Miller Graveside services for Mary Miller, 83, of Clanton, will be held June 5 at Martin Memorial cemetery at 10 a.m. Reverend Jay Hurd will officiate. Visitation will be held today, June 4, at Martin Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Mrs. Miller, a storeowner, died June 3. Survivors include her husband, Ray Miller of Clanton; son, Warren Miller of Calera; daughter, Linda Brooks of Griffin, Ga.; grandsons, Kenny Ayers of Griffin and Lance and Blakeley Miller of Calera; granddaughters, Vicky Long of Garden City, Mich. and Celeste Miller of Calera; sister, Helen Mims of Clanton and four great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Merchant, Nell Kathleen (Smith)

Services for Nell Merchant, 86, of Clanton, will be held today, April 7, at Bell Lane Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Martin Memorial cemetery with Reverend Doug Powell officiating. Mrs. Merchant, a dental assistant, died at Beverly Healthcare April 4. Survivors include her sister, Hilda Burks of Albertville; nephews, David Gilbert of Tucson, Ariz. and John Burks of Birmingham and niece, Mary Burks of Louisville, Ky. She was the daughter of Hubert Lindsey and Alice (Bean) Smith.

Services for Odie Smith, 84, of Clanton, will be held today, Dec. 12, at Martin Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Old Macedonia cemetery in Clanton with Rev. W.T. Cleckler and Wendell Kelley officiating. Mrs. Smith, a homemaker, died Dec. 10. Survivors include her sons, Wilton, Wayne, Charles and Robert Smitherman, all of Clanton; daughters, Lamerle Heflin, Everene Minor, Dollie Bell Hesler, Myrtice Walker and Shirley Patterson, all of Clanton; brothers, Hoyt Cleckler of Childersburg, Orville Cleckler of Mobile, Elmer Cleckler of Mobile; sisters Myrtice Edwards and Velma Mims, both of Clanton; 31 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ola Smith, age 43, Wife of J. Oliver Smith of Clanton, Route 1, died in a Montgomery Hospital Friday of Pneumonia Following an operation. Burial was at New Salem Cemetery. She is survived by her Husband, 2 Daughters, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Bean of Birmingham, 2 Brothers and 2 Sisters.

Friends will be received today from 5-8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel. Smith died November 2 in Brookwood Medical Center. Survivors include three sons, Marty Smith of Randolph, Mike Smith of Mobile and Harland Smith of Orlando; three daughters, Brenda K. Bond of Lawley, Betty Sue Martin of Butler, and Barbara Gail Jones of Elkmount, WI; brother, Jesse Smith of Clanton; sister, Virgie Vines of Clanton; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Burial will follow in Sardis Baptist cemetery in Maplesville. Born on Oct. 11, 1911 to John Henry Collins and Mary Elizabeth Collins, she died April 20, 2003 at her residence in Homewood. She was a member of Sardis Baptist Church. Survivors include her sons John Henry Smith of Auburn and Kenneth Smith of Clanton; daughters Joyce Studinka of Homewood and Cheryl Self of Trussville; brother Ronald Collins of Fresno, Calif.; sister Clydie Ruth Little of Clanton; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry T. Smith; brother Elwin Collins; sisters Willodean Taylor, Pauline Watson and Johnnie Sue Smith.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by three daughters: Mabel Cummings of Isabelle, Sherry Dennis of Clanton and Eva Mims of Clanton; a son, John Mims of Clanton; two sisters: Nell and Mabel Cummings both of Isabella; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
