Teel, Thomas Jefferson 'Tom'

Tom J. Teel, age 90, died in Clanton Monday. He was born in Coosa County but moved to Chilton County 50 years ago. He is survived by his third Wife, 1 Daughter and 6 Sons.

Teel, William Franklin

Will F. Teel, age 64, died Sat. Burial was in Clanton City Cemetery. He is survived by his Second Wife, Mrs. Carrie Marcus Teel, 4 Sons, and 1 Daughter. He was born in Coosa County, the Son of Tom J. and Lithia Bazemore Teel. He first married Miss Anna Baker. She died in March of 1904.

Terrell, William O'Neil 'Bill'

Graveside services for William O. "Bill" Terrell were August 17 at Pine-view Memory Gardens with Rev. George Jones officiating. Selma Funeral Home directed. Terrell died August 14.Survivors include his wife, Stella Seymore Terrell of Selma; three daughters, Wanda Tarleton of Millbrook, Sherry Cole of Titus and Donna Gail Rook; two sisters, Dot Thomas and Mavis Wilson; grandchildren, Ashley Tarleton, Jason Tarleton, Christie Kramer, Kimberly Cole and Scott Cole; great- grand-children, Haley Kramer, Katlyn Kramer and Caleb Cole. He was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Terrell.

Funeral services for Dorothy L. "Dot" Terry, 76, Maplesville, were held on Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, with Rev. Bobby Hicks officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Nebo Methodist Church in Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Terry was born on Oct. 1, 1922, in Chilton County, the daughter of the late Enoch and Argie Virginia Culp. She was a homemaker. She died on Aug. 13, 1999, at Chilton Medical Center in Clanton. Survivors include two daughters, Virginia Kelley, Wetumpka, and Betty "Red" Haigler, Maplesville; one son, Jerry W. Terry, Pinney River, Va.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hardin Terry.

Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday from the Chapel of Martin Funeral Home with the Revs. Bobby Hicks and William Short officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Clanton, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Louise (Culp) Terry of Maplesville; his mother, Rosie (Terry) Latham of Maplesville; a son Jerry Terry of Piney River, Va.; two daughters, Virginia R. Kelley of Wetumpka and Betty "Red" Haigler of Maplesville; three sisters, Wilda Mims of Clanton and Mable and Nell Cummings of Maplesville; and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Ricky Wayne Terry, 52, Centreville, will be held at New Life Assembly of God on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2001, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Ron Thrower officiating. Burial will follow at New Life Assembly of God in Maplesville, with Martin Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, from 5-8 p.m. Terry was born on April 17, 1949, in Etowah County, the son of Lorene Terry and the late John Lamar Terry. He was self employed. He died on Sept. 10, 2001, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. Survivors include his mother, Lorene Terry, Centreville; one sister, Janice (Wayne) Davenport, Maplesville; two brothers, R. W. (Diane) Terry, Duluth, Ga., and Ronald (Linda) Terry, Plantersville; one grandmother, Viora Cantrell, Duluth, Ga. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Ann Boyle and Gloria Delite Terry, and his father, John Lamar Terry.

Thomas, Billy Lawrence, Sr.

Funeral services for Billy Lawrence Thomas, Sr., 59 of Lowndesboro, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2003 at Chestnut Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Bates officiating. Burial followed at Chestnut Creek Baptist cemetery in Verbena. Born on Nov. 5, 1943 to James Edward Thomas and Margarete Thomas, he died April 9, 2003 in Lowndesboro. Survivors include his sons Bill Lawrence Thomas, Jr. of Dalton, GA. and Jeffery Scott Thomas of Dalton, GA.; mother Margarete Thomas of Dalton, GA.; sister Sally Denise Hall of Pelham; two granddaughters.

Glenn was born on Jan. 11, 1911, in Pickens County, the daughter of the late William and Sally Thomas. She was a homemaker. She died at Shelby Baptist Medical Center on Feb. 13, 2001. Survivors include two sons, Bruce Glenn, Verbena, and Ed Glenn, Danville, KY.; three daughters, Lela Warner, Jackson, Miss., Doris Ratts, Birmingham, and Hazel Moore, Billingsley; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Burial will follow in Chestnut Creek cemetery in Verbena with Martin Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Thomas was born Jan. 15, 1932, to the late Exer Washington Blackmon and Rosetta Blackmon. A homemaker, she died Sept 22, 1997, at Shelby Medical Center in Alabaster. She is survived by four sons: Marvin Earl Thomas, Jr. of Thorsby, Henry Floyd Thomas of Thorsby, Jessie Eric Thomas of Thorsby and Tony Author Thomas of Jemison; four daughters: Resetta Melton of Clanton, Joan Davis of Maplesville, Tabitha Davis of Jemison and Ola Lee Scott of Clanton; four sisters: Dorothy Minor of Clanton, Pearlie May Smitherman of Clanton and Redeema Davis of Jemison; a brother, M. J. Battles of Tuscaloosa; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for Flemie Thomas, 92, Verbena, will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Clanton on Thursday, April 6, 2000, at 1 p.m., with Rev. Keith Edwards officiating. Burial will be held at Chestnut Creek Baptist in Verbena, with Martin Funeral Home officiating. Thomas was born on Aug. 13, 1907, in Autauga County, the son of the late Lewis Warren and Martha Driver Thomas. He was a carpenter. He died on April 4, 2000, in DCH Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. Survivors include his wife, Fannie Kelley Thomas, Verbena; three daughters, Ola T. Taylor, Verbena, Betty Russell, Montgomery, Dot Riley, Hoover; and seven grandchildren.

George Thomas, age 96, died last Thur. at home of his Son, L. W. Thomas, 4 miles North of Clanton. Burial was at the Aldridge Cemetery. Had lived here since he was 2 years old. Wife, Mrs. Polly Thomas died ten years ago. Four Sons and 1 Daughter, 24 Grandchildren, 24 great and 23 Great Great Grandchildren. Lived near Clanton since he was 2 except for the four years served in the Civil War.

Crawford Thomas died in Atlanta, age 50, burial was at Chestnut Creek last Sunday. Leaves a Wife and 6 Children, Grace, Earle, Elizabeth, Gladys, Charles, and Douglas all of these live in Atlanta, Ga., 2 Sons: Emmett and Elijah Thomas of Clanton, Mrs. Lena Baker of Clanton, and Mrs. Addie Cleckler of Atlanta. The four Children last named are children by his first Wife who was before her Marriage, Miss Eliza Easterling, who was a Granddaughter of Mahalia Popwell Mims, a Half-sister of Alfred Baker and a full Sister to Reuben Popwell. Mr. Thomas was a Son of Jesse Thomas who was born around 1800 and is buried at Chestnut Creek Cemetery.

Dated 1-02-1936, Mr. J. Arthur Thompson, age 61, of Walnut Creek died suddenly Monday. He was the Son of Late J. J. and Mary Thompson of Walnut Creek. His parents came from Coosa County 47 years ago. He was born 5-1-1875. Came to Chilton County at the age of 14. At age 20 he married Miss Ida Maddox, to them was born 2 Children, Burnie Thompson, and Mrs. George Tippett of Clanton, after his first Wife died he married Miss Rader Driver, and is survived by her and by his aged Mother, 2 Children, 1 Grandson, Ross Tippett, 4 Brothers, 2 Sisters, Mrs. Kate Eiland of Clanton Route 4, and Mrs. Oscar Mims of Birmingham. Burial was at Walnut Creek Cemetery.

She died on Jan. 19, 2002, at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. Survivors include her husband, Charlie Winston Thornton, Maplesville; one son, Charlie Edward Thornton, MIllbrook; one sister, Ruby Pearson, Maplesville; four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Shelly Lynn Thornton.
