ANNIE CUNNINGHAM

TALLADEGA — Annie Cunningham, 82, of 3340 Shocco Springs Road, died Oct. 22 at Citizens BMC.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.

CORENE RICE DAUGHERTY

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Corene Rice Daugherty, 80, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sonny Champion and the Rev. John Cosby officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Daugherty died Oct. 21 at Marshall Medical Center North in Guntersville. She owned and operated Corene's Budget Beauty Shop for more than 30 years and was a member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church.

She is survived by daughter, Barbara and Sam Moser of Atlanta; sons, Jerry and Sherry Green of Atlanta, Mike and Tammy Allen of Arab and Ed and Carolyn Daugherty of Marathon, N.Y.; grandchildren, Cindy and husband David Stewart of Sylacauga, Brian and wife Marla Griffitt of Knoxville, Alan Griffitt of Atlanta, Ross, Sara and Rebecca Allen of Arab, Kevin and Scott Daugherty of Marathon, N.Y.; great-grandchildren, Jessica and Devan Stewart of Sylacauga and Brian and Aaron Griffitt of Knoxville; also survived by, Lewis and Jane Allen of Childersburg, Frances and Buddy Elliott of Vincent, Dot Fiquett of Pinson and Ruby Allen of Childersburg; and several step-grandchildren.

The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.

Pallbearers will be Ross Allen, Joe Allen, Scott Daugherty, Alan Griffitt, Brian Griffitt and David Stewart.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

McCOMAS GLASPER

KELLYTON — McComas Glasper died Oct. 22 at his residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Wright's Funeral Home.

JAMES EDWARD GREENWOOD

PELL CITY — Graveside service for James Edward "Ed" Greenwood, formerly of Anniston, was Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Eulaton First Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Thomas officiating.

Mr. Greenwood died Oct. 18 at University of Alabama Medical Center in Birmingham. He was co-owner and president of East Alabama Auto Parts. He was preceded in death by his mother, Madge Greenwood.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey Higgins Greenwood of Pell City; sons, Mark Greenwood of Coldwater and Scott Greenwood of Oxford; daughters, Cindy Tubbs of Oxford and Gina Mitchell of Crawfordville, Fla.; eight grandchildren; his father and his wife, the Rev. William "Bill" Greenwood and Edna of Jacksonville; sisters, Sandra Tidwell of Anniston and Peggy Bright of Alexandria; and brother, Wayne Greenwood of Alexandria.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Big Oak Ranch, P.O. Box 507, Springville, Ala., 35146.

Anniston Memorial Funeral Home directed the service.

JOHNNY LOWE

MIDDLETON, Conn. — Johnny Lowe, 54, died Oct. 22 at Yuconn Medical Center in Middleton, Conn.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Anniston Funeral Service.

CAROLYN ISABELL MONTGOMERY

BRANCHVILLE — Funeral service for Carolyn Isabell Montgomery, 88, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel in Leeds. Burial will be in Pine Forest Cemetery in Ashville.

Mrs. Montgomery died Oct. 20.

She is survived by daughters, Rita Hare and Aleese Smith of Ashville, Linda Fantay of Georgia and Nelda Taylor of Branchville; son, Johnny Montgomery of Tennessee; sisters, Faye Harp of Virginia and Florence McClendon of Ashville; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds will direct the service.

SAVON PEREZ SMOOT

TALLADEGA — Graveside service for infant Savon Perez Smoot, of 26787 Alabama 21, will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Africa Church Cemetery with the Rev. William T. Threatt officiating.

The infant died Oct. 21 at Citizens BMC.

He is survived by his parents, Perez Smoot and Felicia Gooden Smoot of Talladega; sister, Briana Smoot of Talladega; and grandparents, Catherine Smoot, Charles Williams and Preston and Hazel Gooden of Talladega.

Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the service.

ROBIN WHITE

ANNISTON — Robin White, 48, died Oct. 22 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Birmingham.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Anniston Funeral Service.

RICHARD SCOTT WILLIAMS

TAMPA, Fla. — Funeral service for Richard Scott Williams, 52, formerly of Jacksonville, will be Friday at noon at St. Paul C.M.E. Church in Jacksonville with the Rev. Robert Bonner officiating. Burial will be in Jacksonville City Cemetery.

Mr. Williams died Oct. 16 at St. Joseph Hospital in Tampa. He was in the United States Air Force for seven years and was an employee of Nu-Tec Roofing Company in Tampa, Fla. He was a member of St. Paul C.M.E. Church in Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Williams and his grandmother, Essie B. Keith.

He is survived by son, Richard Williams Jr. of Tampa, Fla.; daughters, Tashawnda Barnes of Goldsboro, N.C., and Mariah Williams of Tampa, Fla.; sisters, Margaret Smith of Nashville, Tenn., Onna L. Barber of Huntsville and Mary Ann Williams Burnett of Jacksonville; seven brothers; his mother, Mary Ellen Williams of Jacksonville; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Travis Morris, Charles Harrell, Aaron Nixon Jr., Scott Douglas, Russell Harrell, Cornell Wilson and Randolph Boozer.

Brothers will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Anniston Funeral Service will direct the service.

ROBERT GENE EVANS

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Robert Gene "Sugarboy" Evans will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Madden's Funeral Service chapel with Brother Michael Billingsley officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mr. Evans died Oct. 23 at his residence. A native of Talladega County, he graduated in 1963 from East Highland High School.

He is survived by his parents, Eugene and Leola Evans, both of Sylacauga; and one brother, Ray A. Evans of Sylacauga.

Pallbearers will be Cedrick Owens, Woodrow Foster, Flecher Billingsley Jr., Willie Swain, Fabian Lawson and Ray Evans.

The family will receive friends all day Sunday.

Madden's Funeral Service will direct the service.

PERRY THOMAS CULVER

ALEXANDER CITY — Funeral service for the Rev. Perry Thomas Culver, 97, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Chet Roden and the Rev. William Casady officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga.

Rev. Culver died Oct. 24 at Bill Nichols Veterans Home in Alexander City. A native of Coosa County, he lived in Sylacauga until 1958, where he owned Culver Grocery Store on Fair Ground Avenue. He sold the grocery store that year and moved to New Orleans, where he entered and graduated from the New Orleans Theological Seminary. He then preached in numerous Baptist Churches in Louisiana and Mississippi before moving back to Alabama in the 1970's. He remained very active in the Coosa River Baptist Association, filling in as minister and serving as an officer in the association. He was very active in his church work, ministering to the sick and teaching Sunday School until his 95th birthday. He was a veteran of World War II, having served under General Patton in the European theater of operations, where he earned the Purple Heart for wounds received in battle. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Claudia Mae Culver.

He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Evelyn Lloyd of Talladega and Virginia and David McGough of Prattville; one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Helen Culver of Trussville; one sister, Dera White Roberson of Sylacauga; one brother, Rudolph Culver of Sylacauga; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers will be Tim Culver, Rodney Culver, Michael McGough, Anthony McGough, Ronald Lloyd and Ron Lloyd.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Usrey Funeral Home will direct the service.

DORIS NELL LEACH DENNY

SYCAMORE — Funeral service for Doris Nell Leach Denny, 76, of Sycamore, will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Sycamore United Methodist Church with the Rev. Alan Swindall, the Rev. Joe Mallory and the Rev. Charles Hazel officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. Denny died Oct. 24 at Baptist Medical Center Montclair in Birmingham. Married to O'Neal Denny for 53 years, she was a member of Sycamore United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities, including treasurer, board member, Sunday School, choir, and annual conference delegate. She was preceded in death by her parents, Neil Arthur Leach and Zadie Gillum Leach.

She is survived by her husband, O'Neal Denny; one son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Becky Denny of Birmingham; one sister Mary Bob Reynolds of Hollins; and three grandchildren, Zade Denny, Ella Francis Denny and Sam Denny, all of Birmingham.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Reynolds, Ron Reynolds, Don Gillum, Jim Fazekas, Jack Gillum and Steve Gillum. Honorary pallbearers will be Woodrow Thurman, Joe Culp, Lamar White, Howard Epperson, and Avondale Leisure Girls.

In lieu of flowers, the family will accept donations to Sycamore United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 6, Sycamore, AL 35149.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and one hour prior to the service. They may also be contacted at www.radneysmith.com.
