ADELAIDE SMITH CAMPBELL

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Adelaide Smith Campbell will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel with the Rev. Keith Pugh officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. Campbell died Dec. 23 at Coosa Valley Baptist Medical Center in Sylacauga.

She was born near Rock Mills. She graduated from Handley High School in Roanoke and attended Southern Business College in Atlanta, Ga. Mrs. Campbell was a member of First Baptist Church of Sylacauga and a founding member of the Town and Country Garden Club.

She is survived by two sons, John Marvin Campbell III and wife Judy, of Birmingham and Robert Bruce Campbell and wife Jean, of Sylacauga; one sister, Ucal Smith; one brother, Gerson Smith; four grandchildren, Alexander Martin Campbell, Milla Campbell Howard, Virginia (Ginny) Campbell Johnston and Caroline Jean Johnston; and four great-grandchildren, Martha Adelaide Howard, Emma Tyson Howard, James Mason Johnston Jr. and Cailin Emma Campbell.

Pallbearers will be Harold Dickson, Harry Brown Jr., Henry Ray, Hugh Ezekiel, Barry Vaughn, Larry Sims, Tommy Beckett, William George Werdehoff and Dr. David Currie.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Chandler Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Friday from 9 to 11 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Sylacauga.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home will direct the service.

PEARLIE MAE HAWKINS

TALLADEGA — Pearlie Mae Hawkins, 80, 121 Elbont Davis St., died Dec. 25 at Regional Medical Center in Anniston.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Sims Funeral Home.

RUDOLPH HOLCOMBE JR.

SYLACAUGA — Rudolph Holcombe Jr., 72, of 305 Sherry St. died Dec. 25 at Coosa Valley Baptist Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Community Funeral Home.

JOHN LOWE

ANNISTON — John Lowe, 50, died Dec. 24 at his home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Anniston Funeral Home.

STEWART ADAIR MILLER

GOODWATER — Funeral service for Stewart Adair "Doc" Miller, 79, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel with Brother Charles Stone and Brother Wayne Fowler officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery.

Mr. Miller died Dec. 23 at his home.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Lee Olin Miller; a sister, Marie Joiner; a daughter, Diane Yates; his mother, Berta Miller and his father Buron Miller.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma B. Miller of Goodwater; one son, Terry Potts of Elain, Okla.; four daughters, Sheila Hamilton and husband Chuck, of Goodwater, Julie Griffin, of Lineville, Jolene Bohannon and husband Jerry, of Ashland and Tammy Camp and husband Randy, of Ashland; two sisters, Dolly Ruth Newman, of Sylacauga and Christine Hammonds, of Childersburg; 16 grandchildren, including Cody and Ryan Hamilton; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Mark Hamilton, Glen Hamilton, Y.T. Housch, J.R. Housch, Dale Robertson and Larry Hamilton.

Honorary pallbearer will be Kermit Newman.

Curtis and Son North Chapel will direct the service.

HOWARD PRINCE

SHREVEPORT, La. — Howard Prince, 69, formerly of Talladega, died Dec. 24 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Shreveport.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Talladega Funeral Home.

EMMA RATCHFORD

TALLADEGA — Emma Ratchford, 90, 619 Knox St., died Dec. 25 at Citizens Baptist Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.

BARBARA ANN RIDLEY

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Barbara Ann Ridley, 50, 784 Centerpoint Road, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Oak Grove with the Rev. Max Buttram officiating.

Mrs. Ridley died Dec. 23 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oak Grove and was retired from Kimberly-Clark Corp. with 13 years of service.

She is survived by her husband, Larry E. Ridley of Sylacauga; one son, Lee Ridley, of Sylacauga; one daughter, Tamara Lankford and husband Joey, of Sylacauga; two grandsons, Jacob D. Stephens and Jesse Lankford; and one granddaughter, Kristen Lankford.

Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel.

Pallbearers will be John Camp, George Pate, George Harper, Harold Griffitt, Howard Logan and Peter Wallenfang.

Curtis and Son will direct the service.

ERNEST DONALD RICKETT

PELL CITY — Ernest Donald (Rick) Rickett, 85, died on Dec. 22, 2003, after a long illness. As Don would want, his family wishes everyone a joyous holiday. We hope you will join us at 2 p.m. on Jan. 17, 2004, at St. Simon Peter Church, for a memorial service to celebrate Don's life.

Mr. Rickett was born May 13, 1918, in Brunswick, Ga., but soon moved with his family to Jacksonville, Fla., where he grew up. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sydney and Elizabeth Rickett; and two brothers, Sydney and Robert Rickett.

After graduating from the University of Florida he started his career of 43 years with BellSouth. This was interrupted by 5 years service in the United States Air Corps during World War II. After his military duty, Rick rejoined BellSouth working in Florida and Alabama until his retirement in 1983.

While district manager in Tuscaloosa, Don belonged to the Rotary Club (past president), Indian Hills Country Club (past president) and the Black Warrior Boy Scouts Council (past president). At his death he was a member of Pine Harbor Country Club in Pell City where he enjoyed his many friends even after he could no longer play golf. Don was active in Christ Episcopal Church in Tuscaloosa and continued with St. Simon Peter Church in Pell City where he sang in the choir for many years and also served on its vestry.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Autrey Thompson Rickett; brothers, Joseph Rickett (Lydia) and George Rickett of Atlanta, Ga.; children, John Rickett (Trudy), William (Bill) Rickett (Brenda) of Tuscaloosa, Christine Rickett Watson Richards (John) of Atlanta, Donna Rickett Power (Matthew) of Pell City; grandchildren, Sidney Watson Goehring (Dean) of Dayton, Ohio, Eva Watson of Knoxville, Tenn., Adam Power (Jennifer) of Newnan, Ga., Mary Power, Robert Rickett, Brandie Rickett, David Rickett, Reid Rickett of Tuscaloosa; great-grandchildren, Rachel Goehring, Rebecca Goehring of Dayton, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to St. Simon Peter Church in Pell City or a favorite charity.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

LORETTA WALLS

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Loretta Walls, 85, of 115 Walls Lane, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Porter F. Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery.

Mrs. Walls died Dec. 19 at Sylacauga Health Care.

She was a longtime member of the Sylacauga Community and pianist for Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Annie Pearl Godfrey of Sylacauga; one son, Dylan Fuller of Sylacauga; two sisters, Emma Nail of Anniston and Mildred Lee of Sylacauga; and one brother, William Taylor of Sylacauga.

Madden's Funeral Service will direct the service.

DAVID EARL WILLIAMS

ACWORTH, Ga. — Graveside service for David Earl Williams, 66, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Sylacauga.

Mr. Williams died Dec. 24.

He was a native of Hollins and a U.S. Air Force veteran, retired from JAMCO Southeast as transportation manager after 10 years of service. Mr. Williams was also retired from Greater Buffalo Press after 25 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Robinson Williams, of Acworth; two sons, David Edward Williams and wife Linda of Spring, Texas, and Bynum Eric Williams and wife Teresa of Hiram, Ga.; three grandchildren, Courtney, Brandon and Logan Williams; his mother, Eunice Chandler Williams, of Sylacauga; one brother, Harold Dean Williams of Sylacauga; one sister, Brenda Denise Spates of Sylacauga; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel

Curtis and Son will direct the service.

JOHNNIE LOVELL WILLIAMS

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Johnnie Lovell Williams, 79, 2436 Ashland Highway, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Lane Chapel C.M.E. Church with the Rev. A.C. Gilbert officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Williams died Dec. 21 at his home.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega and a member of the Lane Chapel C.M.E. Church where he served as steward and treasurer.

He is survived by his wife, Mollie M. Williams, of Talladega; two daughters, Priscilla A. Curry and Jackie W. Hall, both of Talladega; two sons, Johnny W. Williams of Ovieda, Fla., and Calvin Williams of Talladega; one sister, Ella Mae Summerow of Chattanooga, Tenn.; one brother, James Williams of Talladega; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be James Stockdale Jr., Stanley Williams, Harold Kent Long, Joseph Long, Ronald Williams and Lawrence Williams.

Honorary pallbearers will be stewards of Lane Chapel C.M.E. Church.

Sims funeral home will direct the service.
