Doss

HUNTSVILLE

Services for Edna Dunn Doss, 91, of Huntsville, formerly of Anniston, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Brown & Kughn Memory Chapel in Anniston with Rev. Steve Pettey officiating. Burial will be in Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8 tonight.

Mrs. Doss died Saturday at Whitesburg Gardens in Huntsville.

Survivors include a son, Harold Jackson Doss Jr. of Huntsville; a daughter, Carolyn Doss Hurst and her husband, Tom, of Choccolocco; a brother, Robert Dunn and his wife, Mary Ann, of Atlanta; five grandchildren, Brandy Doss Russell, Amanda Doss, Susan Pruitt, Allison Hurst and Randy Hurst; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Will Pruitt, Dan Pruitt, W.C. Baker, Randy Hurst, Curtis Cotton, Gary Atchley, Buck Johnson and Richard Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Friendship Sunday School Class of Golden Springs Baptist Church.

Mrs. Doss, a Calhoun County native and longtime resident, had lived in Huntsville the past five years. She was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church. She owned and operated Swan Dry Cleaners on 23rd Street in Anniston during the 1940s and 1950s, and had worked at Golden Springs Dry Cleaners. She retired from Food Service at Golden Springs Baptist Church where she was a charter member and a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Elizabeth Spearman Chapter of the Eastern Star in Anniston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Jackson Doss Sr.; three sisters, Emma Lois Cotton, Annie Lou Davis and Leora Oyler; and a brother, L.T. Dunn.

Flowers will be accepted, or contributions may be made to the Elizabeth Spearman Chapter #81 of the Eastern Star, P.O. Box 831, Anniston, AL 36202.

Driggers

WEAVER

Services for Leon Austin Driggers, 71, of Weaver will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. EST at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home chapel in Rome, Ga., with Rev. David Holderfield officiating. Burial will be in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 Honor Guard conducting military graveside rites. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8 EST tonight.

Mr. Driggers died Sunday at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Janis Theresa Nesbit Driggers; four daughters, Debra Annette Williams of Anniston, Anita Gail Struss and Sheila Christine Driggers, both of Aragon, Ga., and Diane Marie Driggers of Rome; a son, Leon Austin Driggers Jr. of Huntsville; a sister, Faye Price of Anniston; a brother, Lynn Driggers of Anniston; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Nesbit, Johnny Nesbit, Hoyet Morgan, Ricky Morgan, Darrell Morgan, Ray Reese, Phillip Stinson and James "Bud" Harris.

Mr. Driggers, a Calhoun County native, was Baptist. He retired from the Air Force as a tech sergeant after serving as a flight engineer on a C-130 during the Korean War and Vietname War. After retirement, he worked as a security guard at Georgia Power Plant Bowen for 18 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4295 in Anniston, The American Legion and the Georgia Power Ambassadors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis Russell Driggers and Flossie Mae Hindman Driggers; and a sister.

Parker

EASTABOGA

Services for Isaac Parker, 71, of Eastaboga will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Parker Memorial Baptist Church in Eastaboga with Rev. Trenton Woodward officiating. Burial will be in Parker Garden. The family will receive friends at Goodson Funeral Home in Anniston today 4-6 p.m. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Mr. Parker died Thursday at Regional Medical Center in Anniston.

Survivors include his wife, Pearlene Parker; four sons, Mickey Parker, Dennis Parker and his wife, Linda, Darren Parker and his wife, Tiajuana, and Timarcus Parker, all of Eastaboga; two daughters and their husbands, Beverley and A.C. Bolton, and Lesia and Lanzier Lawler, all of Eastaboga; a sister, Arzilla Russell of Anniston; a brother, J.C. Parker of Eastaboga; 13 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Mr. Parker, an Army veteran, retired from M&H Valve. He was a certified brick mason. He was preceded in death by a son, John Parker; and two brothers, Calvin Parker and James Parker.

Parker

Services for Margaret Parker, 87, of Anniston will be announced by Gray Brown-Service Mortuary.

Mrs. Parker died Monday at NHC in Anniston.

Pertuso

Services for Jay Michael Pertuso, 39, of Anniston will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Sacred Hearth of Jesus Catholic Church. Burial will be in Forestlawn Gardens with Brown & Kughn Memory Chapel in charge.

Mr. Pertuso died Sunday in Birmingham.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Olivia Pertuso College Fund.

Price

PIEDMONT

Services for Hoyt Clifford Price, 84, of Piedmont will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Ledbetter officiating. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8 tonight.

Mr. Price died Sunday at his home.

Sellers

OXFORD

Services for Eunice Henderson Mintz Sellers, 95, of Oxford will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary & Crematory chapel in Anniston with Rev. James Cohorn officiating. Burial will be in Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today 5-8 p.m.

Mrs. Sellers died Sunday at Jacksonville Health & Rehab.

Survivors include a daughter, Annie E. Williamson of Anniston; 11 grandchildren, Earl Phillips, Dwight Phillips, Larry Phillips, Nick Williamson, Barry Williamson, Gary Williamson, Deborah Skipper, Steve Mintz, Stanley Mintz, Jimmy Mintz and Kimberly Patton; 18 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Harold Allen, J.H. Champion, Norman Cole, Clayton McKenzie, J.C. Johnson and James Fleming.

Mrs. Sellers, a Calhoun County native and former Ohatchee resident, had lived in Oxford the past 30 years. She was a member of Blue Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lloyd Mintz; her second husband, R.D. Sellers; her parents, Henry L. and Emma Shurbutt Henderson; a daughter, Mary Christine Phillips; and a son, Hoburt Mintz.

Towler

WEDOWEE

Services for Pete Towler, 78, of Wedowee will be today at 2 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Gene Young officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Benefield Funeral Home of Wedowee in charge.

Mr. Towler died Monday at Wedowee Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Lilar V. Holloway Towler; a daughter, Margaret Prestridge of Wedowee; three grandsons, Jack Prestridge, Pat Prestridge and Mark Prestridge; five great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Terry Messer, Alan Taylor, Junior Towler, Jamie Towler, Thomas Langley and Donald Davidson.

Mr. Towler, a Randolph County native, was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. He had been employed as a school bus driver for Randolph County.

Borders

Services for Rev. Daniel Marvin Borders, 85, of Anniston will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary & Crematory with Dr. Billy Harris and Rev. Darin Post officiating. Burial will be in Edgemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8 tonight.

Rev. Borders died Sunday at Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Stephens Borders; a son and his wife, Dan L. and Jane Moore Borders of Anniston; two daughters and their husbands, Diane Borders and Wally Madrid of Saks, and Susie Borders and Tony Gay of Oxford; eight grandchildren, Kirk Stewart, Matthew McCormick, Jeff McCormick, Jennifer Gay Adams and her husband, Eric, Paul Gay and his wife, Andrea Casson Gay, Sgt. Patrick Madrid, Joel Madrid and Ana Madrid; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Paul Gay, Eric Adams, Sgt. Patrick Madrid, Joel Madrid, Matthew McCormick and Kirk Stewart.

Rev. Borders was an ordained minister. He owned King Size Television. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Marvin Borders; his mother, Alice Haynes Borders; and three brothers, Jasper Borders, Lloyd Borders and Roscoe Borders.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Restoring God’s House at Parker Memorial Baptist Church, P.O. Box 2104, Anniston, AL 36202, or Hill Crest Baptist Church Building Fund, 5117 Post Oak Road, Anniston, AL 36206.

Brock

VILLA RICA, Ga. - Services for Dorothy Ann Brock, 76, of Villa Rica, Ga. will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. EST at Hightower’s Memorial Chapel in Douglasville, Ga. with Rev. Stephen Williams officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan, Ga. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-9 EST tonight.

Mrs. Brock died Sunday.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Patricia Ann and Michael Robinson of Douglasville; a son, Marion Eugene "Gene" Brock Sr. and his wife, Dianne, of Anniston; a sister, Mary Gollahon of Cartersville, Ga.; two brothers, Gene Amis and Frank Amis, both of Marietta, Ga.; 13 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Brock, a Hogansville, Ga. native, was Baptist. She was a housekeeper for the Cobb County Government. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Aubrey Brock; a son, Jimmy Brock; and a daughter, Elizabeth Brock.

Christian

TALLADEGA - Services for Bertha Christian, 80, of Talladega will be announced by Terry’s Metropolitan Mortuary.

Ms. Christian died Monday at her home.

Duke

Services for Ollie Ray Duke, 67, of Anniston will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with Revs. Mike Holcomb and David Screws officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 6-8 tonight.

Mr. Duke died Sunday at Beverly Healthcare in Oxford.

Survivors include his wife, Odessa Duke; a daughter, Kim Screws of Anniston; two sons, Kenny Duke and Kevin Duke; six sisters, Margaret Estes of Cragford, Christine Reaves and Brenda Hill, both of Lineville, Jessie Johnson and Joyce Prater, both of Heflin, and Betty Ward of Northport; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Screws, Terry Driscol, Bobby Reaves, Fradis Moore, Jessie Duke, Dale Reaves, Bobby Holman and Brian Baldwin.

Mr. Duke, a Randolph County native, had lived in Calhoun County most of his life. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. He retired from Southern Tool with 22 years service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Lena Duke; and two brothers, Quinton Duke and Lynn Duke.

Heard

ROANOKE - Services for Lelia Mae Heard, 84, of Roanoke will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Roanoke with Revs. Gilbert Staples, Jeffery Rosser, William Terry and Robert L. Heflin officiating. Burial will be in East Roanoke Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Clark Memorial Funeral Service Wednesday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The body will be at the church an hour prior to services.

Ms. Heard died Monday at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Ga.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Frances and Thomas D. Smith of Atlanta; a son, Douglas M. Heard of Newnan, Ga.; nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Ms. Heard was preceded in death by two sons, Frank B. Heard and Joseph M. Heard Jr.; two sisters, Emma Lou Smith and Annie Kate Smith Digsby; and a brother, Johnny Lee Smith.
