VIRGINIA BROWN

HARPERSVILLE — Funeral service for Virginia Brown will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Baker's Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. David L. Norwood officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Brown died Jan. 26. She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred Brown, and four daughters.

She is survived by three daughters, Betty Swain and Ruth Marbury of Childersburg and Jean Epps of Boston, Mass.; three sisters, Eddie Ciers of Detroit, Mich., Viola Little of Linden and Della Brooks of Detroit, Mich.; 36 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives.

The family will receive friends Friday from noon until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Family hour will be Friday from 6 until 7 p.m.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Granddaughters will serve as flowerbearers.

Community Funeral Home will direct the service.

SHAQUAWDA THOMAS

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Shaquawda (Tiny) Thomas, 9, will be Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Harris officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The child died Jan. 30. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She attended B.B. Comer Elementary School.

She is survived by her mother, Donna Riggins of Wetumpka; father, Quentin Thomas of North Carolina; two sisters, Arista Riggins of Childersburg and Donsha Riggins of Sylacauga; two brothers, Shaquille Thomas of Sanford, N.C., and Trey Cox of Dover, N.C.; grandparents, Roosevelt and Mary Thomas of Sylacauga, Betty Riggins of Gadsden and Darryl Riggins of Chicago, Ill.; and her stepfather, Freddie Powell of Sylacauga.

Madden's Funeral Home will direct the service.

ELDER ROBERT LEWIS WALKER

HARPERSVILLE — Funeral service for Elder Robert Lewis Walker, 68, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at AD Church of God in Childersburg with Elder Jim Norwood officiating. Burial will be in Harpersville Cemetery.

Mr. Walker died Jan. 29. He was formerly of Wisconsin. As a young man, he united with the Free Will Church of Christ in Harpersville. He was assistant pastor at Apostolic Church of Christ for 23 years. He united in holy matrimony to Betty Ann Norwood and they had three children.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Betty Ann Walker; one son, Robert Earl Walker of Alpine; two daughters, Mary Ann Groce of Sylacauga and Felecia Ann Walker of Harpersville; one grandchild; one stepgrandchild and a host of other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Leo Chancellor, Bentney Williams, Darryl Sims, Ben Norwood, Benny Bruno and Lonnie Norwood.

Friends of the family will serve as flowerbearers.

The body may be viewed Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home and at the church Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time.

Childersburg Mortuary Service will direct the service.

JEANNE GRACE BEGBIE CHASE

LINCOLN — Graveside service for Jeanne Grace Begbie Chase, 80, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Chase died Jan. 30. She was born Feb. 10, 1921, in Picton, Ontario, Canada. She was educated in Canada before moving to the United States in 1947 and becoming an American citizen. While living in Vestavia, she was a member of Vestavia Hills Methodist Church and for more than 20 years did volunteer work at Fair Haven Retirement Center and with the American Red Cross. She was also an active worker for the athletic program at Berry High School. She had been a resident of Lincoln for the past 16 years.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Earl Chase of Lincoln; one daughter, Judy Chase of Pelham; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Jean Chase of Birmingham; sisters, Mary Loader of San Diego, Calif., Dot Sweetnam of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Ollie Hill and Helen Begbie of Trenton, Ontario, Canada; and sisters-in-law, Freda Begbie of Picton, Ontario, Canada, Fern Begbie of Belleville, Ontario, Canada, Estella Grisham and Lois Simpson of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Johns-Ridout's Mortuary in Birmingham will direct the service.

CORINE BOSWELL

MONTGOMERY — Funeral service for Corine Boswell will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Beulah Baptist Church with the Rev. Porter Osby officiating. Burial will be in Eastwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Boswell died Jan. 28. She taught in the Sylacauga School System from 1950 until 1969.

She is survived by two daughters, Alma Marie and husband the Rev. Noble Buchanan and Juanita Hudson; four grandchildren, Javon, LaTonya, Carlos Jr. and Kristian; two great-grandchildren, Javon and Derrick; three sisters, Linda Mays, Verdell Dill and Joni Merrell; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Merrell and Jane Merrell; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service.

Ross-Clayton Funeral Home in Montgomery will direct the service.

LEE ROY EASTERWOOD

TALLADEGA — Lee Roy Easterwood, 44, died Jan. 31 at Citizens BMC.

The family will receive friends Friday from 4 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Talladega Funeral Home.

MARY WILL HALLMAN

ASHLAND — Funeral service for Mary Will Hallman, 85, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Oaks Chapel Baptist Church with Brother Perry Sims, Brother Charles Stone and Brother Zenus Windsor officiating. Burial will be in New Prospect Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Hallman died Jan. 31 at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County, was a homemaker and a member of Victory Baptist Church in Goodwater.

She is survived by three daughters, Dot Horn of Goodwater, Faye Cox of Ashland and Kathy Peters of Alexander City; four sons, Douglas Thrower of Goodwater, Louvell Hallman of Ashland, Jeff Hallman of Goodwater and Gerald Roger Hallman of Alexander City; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Rickey Cox, Glenn Cox, Scottie Cox, Jimmy Wayne Horn, Ryan Hallman, Mark Peters, Chris Price and Billy Price.

The family will receive friends at her residence at 694 Pliers Mill Road in Ashland from 1 until 8 p.m. Friday and until one hour before the service Saturday.

The body may be viewed at the church for one hour.

Benefield Funeral Home of Lineville will direct the service.

JOE HOMER HART

CAMP HILL — Graveside service for Joe Homer Hart, 77, was Monday in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Andrew Greathouse officiating.

Mr. Hart died Jan. 24 at East Alabama Medical Center.

He is survived by three daughters, Mary Merchant of Camp Hill, Janette Stone of Dadeville and Lavon Johnson of Wadley; three brothers, John Hart and Otis Hart of Dadeville and Read Hart of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Wright's Funeral Home directed the service.

VIRGINIA B. HEARD

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Virginia B. Heard will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with Brother Vance Smith officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Heard died Jan. 29. She was retired from Avondale Mills.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Heard of Sylacauga; three daughters, Mildred Foster and Stephanie Heard of Sylacauga and Tina Hale of Birmingham; seven sons, Woodrow Foster of Trussville, Theron Foster of Greensboro, S.C., Roger Foster of Sylacauga, Derry Foster of Childersburg, Maurice Foster of Montgomery, Robert M. Heard of San Diego, Calif., and Ray Evans of Alpine; 23 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Madden's Funeral Home will direct the service.

FRANCES RUTH HICKS

HOUSTON, Texas — Frances Ruth Hicks, 84, formerly of Sylacauga, died Jan. 31 in Houston, Texas, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Curtis and Son Funeral Home.
