JAMES TANDY LACKEY

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for James Tandy Lackey, 81, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hepzibah Baptist Church with Dr. Randy Hagan officiating. Burial will be in Hepzibah Cemetery.

Mr. Lackey died Jan. 31 at Talladega Health Care Center. He was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega County, was a member of Hepzibah Baptist Church and served on the board of deacons. He was owner/operator of Lackey and Sons Refrigeration in Sylacauga.

He is survived by one daughter, Janet L. Corn of Talladega; one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Barbara Lackey of Talladega; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Deacons of Hepzibah Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.

Donations may be made to Hepzibah Baptist Church Building Fund.

Usrey Funeral Home will direct the service.

LAWRENCE DURELL LAMBERTH

CRAGFORD — Funeral service for Lawrence Durell Lamberth, 89, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Clay County Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John D. Collins officiating. Burial will be in Clay County Memory Gardens.

Mr. Lamberth died Jan. 30 at Stringfellow Memorial Hospital in Anniston. He was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County, was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where he served as postmaster for 20 years at the Cragford post office and as mail carrier in the Cragford area for 17 years. He was a member of Lineville Masonic Lodge No. 219, F&AM and was the oldest member of Cragford Baptist Church where he had been a member for 75 years and served as a deacon for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Allie Maude Edmondson Lamberth of Cragford; one son, Billy Lamberth of Oxford; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be C.W. Childs, Gerald Brown, Buster Robertson, Jimmy Patterson, James Price, John Burradell, Larry Lamberth and Ron Zimmerman.

Members of Masonic Lodge No. 219 will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 5:30 until 8 p.m.

Clay County Funeral Home will direct the service.

WILMER HOLLY McKINNON

SYLACAUGA — Sylacauga businessman and civic leader Wilmer Holly "Mac" McKinnon died Thursday at his home. He was 90 years old.

A native of Bonifay, Fla., he attended Bonifay schools and the University of Florida.

He came to Sylacauga in 1935 to manage the Woolworth store. He bought Hagan Drug Co. in July 1945, where he became a pharmacist and partner with the late Ted Ham in 1948.

In 1957, they moved to 211 and 213 North Broadway, and opened Mac and Ted's Drug Store.

The drug store, with its soda fountain and sandwich shop, quickly became one of Sylacauga's most popular gathering places during the noon hour. Coffee clubs formed and found it the perfect place to gather in the early mornings. McKinnon retired in 1976, but continued part time until 1983.

He was one of the organizers and the first chairman of the board of People Bank and Trust Co. (now SouthTrust Bank), serving as chairman for 25 years.

He was the third person to be elected president of the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce, and was an active member and served as president of the Sylacauga Exchange Club.

He was active in First Baptist Church and served as chairman of deacons several times, was a trustee and life deacon. He was a Sunday school teacher and served as a general officer of the church.

Funeral service will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Curtis and Sons North Chapel, with the Rev. Keith Pugh and the Rev. Bill Gresham officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

McKinnon is survived by his wife, Burlie Ellis McKinnon of Sylacauga; two sons and their wives, Dr. Thomas Durant McKinnon and Kay McKinnon of Birmingham and John Ellis McKinnon and Jan McKinnon of Montevallo; one daughter and husband, Jane McKinnon Vaughn and Barry Vaughn of Sylacauga; one sister, Mattie Lou Marchese and husband John Marchese of Pensacola, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Thomas D. McKinnon Jr., William Kyle McKinnon, Barry Dale Vaughn Jr., Max Ellis Vaughn, Alexander Sterling Vaughn, Katherine Holley McKinnon and Jennifer McKinnon Bowman; and one great-granddaughter, Kendall Reed McKinnon.

Active pallbearers will be Thomas D. McKinnon Jr., William Kyle McKinnon, Steve Bowman, Barry Dale Vaughn Jr., Max Ellis Vaughn and Alexander Sterling Vaughn.

Deacons of First Baptist Church will be honorary pallbearers.

Curtis and Son North Chapel will direct the service.

WILLIAM FOYE ODEM

ASHLAND — Funeral service for William Foye Odem will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mary Fernandez officiating. Burial will be in Simmons Cemetery.

Mr. Odem died Jan. 28.

He is survived by his wife, Maggie Odem of Ashland; two sons, Wendell Searcy of Las Vegas, Nev., and Marvin Sheperd of Anniston; one daughter, Wendy Searcy of Las Vegas, Nev.; his stepmother, Mary L. Odem McKinney of Goodwater; seven brothers, L.C. Oliver, John Odem, Arthur Odem, Harvey Odem, Jerry Oliver and Morris McKinney of Goodwater and Robert McKinney of Connecticut; six sisters, Louise Mays of Chicago, Ill., Sarah Crease of Millerville, Emma Odem of Ashland, Linda Dixon, Jo Catherine Simmons and Bessie Kelly of Goodwater; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Madden's Funeral Home will direct the service.

JOHN ROBERT REDMOND JR.

BIRMINGHAM — Funeral service for John Robert Redmond Jr. will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Community Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Willie Green officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Redmond died Jan. 26.

He is survived by three daughters, Sarah Lang and Geraldine Redmond of Sylacauga and Lolinda Brown of Birmingham; three sons, Randolph Borden of Georgia, John Brown and Dautarious Burks of Birmingham; four brothers, Ernest Redmond of Jacksonville, Fla., London Wayne Thomas of California and Larry Redmond of Boston, Mass.; five sisters, Mary Ann Seals, Marie Borden, Ann Johnson and Dorothy Leonard of Sylacauga and Linda Kendrick of Boston, Mass.; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers and flowerbearers.

Community Funeral Home will direct the service.

RACHEL H. THOMAS

WATTSVILLE — Rachel H. Thomas, 96, died Jan. 31 at Ingram Manor Nursing Home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.

ANNIE B. WILSON

ANNISTON — Funeral service for Annie B. Wilson, 86, will be Saturday at noon at Sunlight Baptist Church in Eastaboga with the Rev. A.W. Modley officiating. Burial will be in Sunlight Cemetery.

Mrs. Wilson died Jan. 23 at Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Sunlight Baptist Church in Eastaboga and was a faithful worker in the church.

She is survived by two sons, Frank Montgomery of Anniston and Leroy Montgomery of Atlanta, Ga.; four sisters, Geneva Cunningham of Atlanta, Ga., Susie Riggins of Anniston, Odessa Giggle and Ann Hughes of Detroit, Mich.; one brother, Frank Brooks of Chicago, Ill.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Anniston Funeral Service will direct the service.
