MARY A. SHELL

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Mary A. Shell, 87, will be Friday, Oct. 1, at 11 a.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Ken Darling officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga.

Mrs. Shell died Sept. 28 at Coosa Valley BMC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Shell; brother, Jessie Adair; and grandson, Marty Honeycutt. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Her family was her life. She was a lifetime member of Harmony Baptist Church. She especially loved her "special babies" Dylan Shell, Julie Shell, Skylyn Brewer, Hannah Fleaman, Zach Young, Ansley Brown and Alyssa Brown.

She is survived by son, Billy Joe Shell and wife Lunease of Sylacauga; daughters, Delorse Honeycutt and husband A.J. of Weogufka, Kay Martin and husband Howard of Sylacauga and Mary Ann Ballard and husband Harold of Sylacauga; brother, Jack Adair and wife Polly of Sylacauga; sister-in-law, Hazel Adair of Sylacauga; granddaughters, Cindy Crowe of Childersburg, April Brown of Alabaster, Jamie Foote of Birmingham, Carolyn Thomas of Weogufka and Debra Rixner of Birmingham; grandsons, Dwight Shell of Sylacauga, Ronnie Shell of Sylacauga, Richard Martin of Sylacauga, Gerald Honeycutt of Weogufka and Billy Jacks of Sylacauga; 19 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will accept flower or contributions may be made to Harmony Baptist Church, 54 Georgia Avenue, Sylacauga, Ala., 35150.

Pallbearers will be Richard Martin, Jerome Crowe, Dwight Shell, Ronnie Shell, Paul Foote and Shawn Brown.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Crowe, Josh Shell, Macon Shell, Joey Shell, Billy Jack Shell, Jason Young and Ricky Martin.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga will direct the service.

GRACE SMITH

ASHLAND — Graveside service for Grace Smith, 77, will be Friday, Oct. 1, at 2 p.m. in Clay County Memory Gardens with the Rev. Lenox Mallory officiating.

Mrs. Smith died Sept. 29 at Dr. C.P. Horn Clay County Nursing Home. She was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County. Prior to her retirement, she was employed at Mount Vernon Cotton Mill in Tallassee.

She is survived by daughters, Martha Baker of Jasper and Elaine Wilson of Montgomery; sons, John W. Price of Alexander City, Roy A. Price of Jacksonville, Ark., and David E. Price of Huntsville; brothers, James W. Collier of Punta Gorda, Fla., Thomas J. Collier of Ohio, Leon S. Collier of Gadsden and Larry G. Collier of Texas; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Clay County Funeral Home will direct the service.

SCOTT BYROM WOOD

ORLANDO, Fla. — Graveside service for Scott Byrom Wood, 39, will be Friday, Oct. 1, at 2 p.m. in the Hubbard Family Cemetery.

Mr. Wood died Sept. 29 at his residence.

The family will receive friends Friday from 10 a.m. until noon at the funeral home.

Complete funeral arrangements will be announced by Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega.

HOWARD L. ALLISON

SANFORD, Fla. - Funeral service for Howard Lawrence "Larry" Allison, 70, will be Monday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m. at the Henry Chapel of the First Baptist Church of Orlando, Fla. Burial will be in Birmingham. There will also be a graveside service Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Sylacauga.

Mr. Allison died Sept. 29 in Sanford, Fla. He was born in Sylacauga on Nov. 17, 1933. He was a pilot, a speaker and a Sunday school teacher of 7-year-olds at First Baptist Church of Orlando. After surviving polio at the age of 11, he was a graduate of Howard College in Birmingham and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. He worked in Nashville, Tenn., for the Baptist Sunday School Board and then made a move to Washington, D.C., and worked for the Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board from which he retired in 1995. Larry loved the wonderful warm weather of Central Florida. He built a universal user home in Lake Forest where he spent his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Orlando, of EEA unit 74 and the Omni Toastmasters.

He is survived by his mother, Frances Allison of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Gloria Allison of Orlando; brother and sister-in-law, Lynn and Helen Allison of Fairhope; nephews, David and Neal Allison; and many other family members and a large host of friends.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Gramkow Funeral Chapel in Sanford.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga and Gramkow Funeral Home are in charge of the services.

DEBORAH ISBELL HANKAMER

CROPWELL - Memorial service for Deborah Isbell Hankamer, 45, was Friday, Oct. 1, at 2:30 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel in Pell City.

Mrs. Hankamer died Sept. 30.

She is survived by her husband, Mark E. Hankamer; mother and father, Kathryn and Willard Isbell; grandparents, Voyd and Kathleene Isbell; daughters, Kathryn Jeanette (Craig) Northcutt and Tabitha Sue (Shane) Fisher; sons, Timothy Shon (Laura) Milam, Matthew Lawrence (Lisa) Milam and Marc Tanner Hankamer; brothers, Timothy (Billie) Isbell, Phillip (Patricia) Isbell, Lamar Isbell and Keith Isbell; and four grandchildren.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

HAYNIE PARKS MOBLEY

TALLADEGA - Graveside service for Haynie Parks Mobley, 84, formerly of Centre, will be Sunday, Oct. 3, at 2 p.m. in Cherokee Memory Gardens in Centre with the Rev. Terry Bentley and the Rev. Jody Bowlin officiating.

Mrs. Mobley died Oct. 1 at Citizens BMC in Talladega. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Mobley. She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, was a retired banker from the Cherokee County Bank and was a member of the Heborn United Methodist Church where she served as church secretary for some 30 years. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by daughter, Ann Mobley Swafford and her husband Garvis of Talladega; son, Robert N. Mobley and his wife Jackie of Birmingham; sisters, Cora Parks of Cedartown, Ga., and Daisy Evans of Leesburg; and grandchildren, Nick Mobley, Allison Swafford and Jared Mobley.

Pallbearers will be Jared Mobley, Nick Mobley, Bobby Joe Smith, Evan Morgan, T.H. Prater, Tracy Bishop, Terry Hawkins and Bobby Hopper.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 until 6 p.m. Saturday and from the Perry Funeral Home in Centre from noon until 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church in Talladega.

Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.

F.L. SANDERS

TALLADEGA - F.L. Sanders, 80, of 120 Christian Circle, died Oct. 1 at his residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry’s Metropolitan Mortuary.

ADA L. BROOKS SMITH

ASHLAND - Funeral service for Ada L. Brooks Smith, 98, will be Sunday, Oct. 3, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Methodist Protestant Church with the Rev. John Luckie officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith died Oct. 1 at Clay County Hospital. She was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County, was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Hill Methodist Protestant Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Brewer Brooks and Lee Smith; a daughter, Mary Helen Ray; a sister, Vera Stewart; and a brother, Tom Mattox.

She is survived by son, Paul Brooks of Birmingham; sisters, Billie Berry of Ringo, Ga., and Artie Mae Pinkston of Huntsville; brothers, Harlan Mattox of Eastaboga and Harold Mattox of Scottsboro; one grandson; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Larry Wells, David Mattox, Jason Carr, Brian Keith Ray, Matthew Ray and Rhyn Denny.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Clay County Funeral Home will direct the service.
