JOHN WESLEY CURRY SR.

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for John Wesley Curry Sr. 70, will be Sunday, Nov. 28, at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel.

Mr. Curry died Nov. 24 at his home in Sylacauga.

Before his death, he proudly served his country in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was also a published genealogist.

Mr. Curry is survived by his son, John W. Curry Jr. of Ayden, N.C.; four daughters, Anne Turnage of Irmo, S.C., Diane Mason of Clinton, N.C., Sandi Baker of New Bern, N.C. and Tracy Beam of Swansboro, N.C.; one brother, Wayne Curry of Childersburg; four sisters, Linda Haynes, Loyace Johnson and Mary Louise Snyder, all of Waycross, Ga., and Sue Sasser of Childersburg; and eight grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Nov. 28, from 12:30 p.m. until service time

HOWARD FUNDERBURG

SYLACAUGA — Howard Funderburg, 90, of 209 Funderburg Lane in Sylacauga died Nov. 24 at his home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Community Funeral Home.

SANDRA CRAIG GIBSON

SYLACAUGA — Sandra Craig Gibson, 42, died Nov. 26 at her home in Sylacauga.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Radney-Smith Funeral Home.

Chester A. O’Donnell

ASHVILLE — Funeral service for Chester A. O’Donnell, 82, of Ashville, will be Saturday, Nov. 27, at 11 a.m. at Kilgroe Chapel in Pell City with the Rev. Charles Burnham officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Mr. O’Donnell died Thursday, Nov. 25.

He is survived by his brother, Raymond O’Donnell; four sisters, Emma J. Kay, Josephine Kay of Ragland, Martell Muir and her husband, Ray, and Odessia Cox and her husband, Gene of Ashville.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the funeral service.

ROYCE R. SUMNERS

AUSTELL, Ga. — Funeral service for Royce R. Sumners, 51, of Villa Rica, Ga., will be Sunday, Nov. 28, at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Clay County Funeral Home with Wayne Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Big Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Sumners died Wednesday, Nov. 24, at Cobb County Hospital in Austell, Ga.

He was a native of Clay County, but had been a resident of Villa Rica for several years. He was employed as a maintenance technician at Alco in Powder Springs, Ga., and was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Lloyd Sumners.

Mr. Sumners is survived by his mother, Helon Sumners of Ashland; two brothers, Richard Sumners of Dallas, Ga., and Rodney Sumners of Ashland.

Pallbearers will be Don Fulbright, Joey Sumners, Matt Sumners, Shane Anderson, Tim Saxon and Steve Carr.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Nov. 27, at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Clay County Funeral Home will direct the funeral service.

RICHARD DELMAR TULLAR

LINCOLN — Funeral service for Richard Delmar Tullar, 77, will be Saturday, Nov. 27, at 3 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Pell City. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetary in Machias, N.Y.

Mr. Tullar died Nov. 24.

He was a member of the American Legion for 51 years and the Veterans of Foreign Wars for 50 years. He was employed for 32 years at the Pennsylvania Central Railroad, and owned Dick’s Lawn Mower Sales and Service for 50 years.

Mr. Tullar retired in Alabama in 2000 and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served in World War II in the Navy.

He was born in Belfast, N.Y., and was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Machias, N.Y. Once he moved to Alabama, he became a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Pell City.

Mr. Tullar was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Mary Cashman Tullar, granddaughter Pamela Holland and brother, Frank Tullar.

He is survived by two brothers, Paul Tullar and Roy Tullar; two sons, Gerald R. Tullar of Olean, N.Y. and John D. Tullar of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; three daughters, Louise E. Jarden of Lincoln, Patricia K. Masten of Chula Vista and Michelle M. (Duff) Wyatt of Talladega; two brothers, Paul Tullar and Roy Tullar; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Nov. 27, from 1 until 3 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Pell City.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the funeral service.

NELL MASTERS VAUGHN

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Nell Masters Vaughn, 87, will be Sunday, Nov. 28, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Sylacauga with the Rev. Keith Pugh officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Ms. Vaughn was born in Cropwell and died Nov. 25 in Sylacauga.

She is survived by two sons, Gregg Lynn Vaughn and wife Cassandra of Birmingham and Dale Vaughn and wife Jane of Sylacauga; sister, Bertha Dean Owens of North Canton, Ohio; five grandchildren, Amy Vaughn Kauppila and husband Jeff, Lisa Vaughn, Dale Vaughn and wife Scarlotte, Max Vaughn and wife Elizabeth, and Alex Vaughn.

Ms. Vaughn was a member of Chandler Sunday School class, the flower committee at First Baptist Church in Sylacauga, the Women’s Missionary Unim, and participated in the Women in Missions mission trips. She was also a member of Wise and Otherwise Study Club, the Camelia Garden Club, the Chamber of Commerce Banquet Committee and many other community volunteer events.

Pallbearers will be Billy Bobbitt, Louie Cousins, Spurgeon Morris, Robert Campbell, Larry Sims and Steve Sprayberry. Members of the Chandler Sunday School class will be honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Nov. 28, from 12:45 p.m. until 1:45 p.m.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga will direct the funeral service.

WILLIAM HOWARD FUNDERBURG

SYALCAUGA — Funeral service for William Howard Funderburg, 90, will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at Jesus Saves Deliverance Temple in Sylacauga with Pastor Robert Hollinquest officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Funderburg died Wednesday Nov. 24 at his home. He was a former member of A.O.H. Church of God in Christ and was a member of Jesus Saves Deliverance Temple where he served as a faithful member of the senior choir. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Annie King Funderburg.

He is survived by six sons, Jimmy Slaughter of Sylacauga, Eugene Slaughter of Troy, Lewis Slaughter of Sylacauga, James Slaughter of Oklahoma City, Okla., Melvin Slaughter of Oklahoma City, Okla., Antonio Slaughter of Sylacauga; seven daughters, Mary Darby of Sylacauga, Delores Varner of Sylacauga, Doris Buford of Sylacauga, Pearlie Bradford of Sylacauga, Dorothy Slaughter of Sylacauga, Mauquerite Slaughter of Sylacauga, Rosie Nyenke of Los Angeles; one brother, Jimmie Funderburg Sr. of Sylacauga, 29 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Freddie Darby Jr., Robert N. Hart Jr., John F. Pitts Jr., Eugene Slaughter Jr., Melvin Slaughter, Rodney Funderburg Sr., Jimmie Funderburg Jr. and Charles Funderburg. Flowerbearers will be friends of the family.

The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from noon until the service begins at 1 p.m.

Community Funeral Home will direct the service.

WILBURN JAMES BOYD

PELL CITY — Memorial service for Wilburn James Boyd, 76, will be Monday, Nov. 29 at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Chapel. Burial will be at St. Clair Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Boyd died Friday Nov. 26. Mr. Boyd loved his Lord, wife, children and grandchildren. He will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Gardner Boyd; son, Calvin Boyd; four stepchildren, Ricky Gardner (Carla), Larry Gardner (Jerri), Dianne Vickers (Richard), Regina Satory (Pete); two grandchildren, Matthew Boyd and Andrew Boyd; brother, Bobby Boyd; and sister Cara Branham.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Nov. 28 from 6 until 9 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Gardner, Larry Gardner, Matthew Boyd, Andrew Boyd, Arnold Nolen and Bill Daffron.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

SHEILA FEGANS

ANNISTON — Funeral service for Sheila Fegans, 41, will be Monday, Nov.29 at 2 p.m. at Anniston Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. J.E. Merriweather officiating. Burial will be at Eden Hills Cemetery.

Mrs. Fegans died Friday, Nov. 19 in Jacksonville. She was a lifelong resident of Anniston.

She is survived by four sons, Montez Fegans, William Fagans, Jerry Fegans and Daniel Fegans, all of Anniston; two daughters, Cierra Fegans and Shinay Fegans, both of Anniston; two sisters, Debra Fegans of Hobson City and Beverly Fegans of Anniston; two brothers, Robert Fegans of Anniston and Johnny Fegans of St. Clair.

The body may be viewed at the chapel until the time of service.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Anniston Funeral Services will direct the service.
