LOIS MITCHELL ADAMS

LINEVILLE - Private family funeral service for Lois Mitchell Adams, 78, will be Saturday, Jan. 8, at 2 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home chapel in Lineville with Michael Horn officiating. A public committal service will follow at Clay County Memory Gardens at 3 p.m.

Mrs. Adams died Jan. 7 at Regional Medical Center in Anniston. She was a native of Randolph County and had lived most of her life in Clay County. She had been employed at Clay County Hospital for 48 1/2 years as a nurse’s aide, was a graduate of Cragford High School and was a member of Campbell Springs Church of Christ.

She is survived by daughter, Donna Kay Baker of Lineville; son, Donald J. Adams of Anniston; sisters, Eunice Adamson of Lineville, Ozeal Smith and Margaret Turner of Heflin, Reba Horn of Lineville, Dot Carmack of Talladega and Annie Latham of Lineville; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Steve Mitchell, Jerre Mitchell, Tim Mitchell, Jimmy Adamson, Curtis Adamson, David Lipham, Jamie Horn and Scott Latham.

Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville will direct the service.

PATTY SUE Gardner ADAMS

LINCOLN - Memorial service for Patty Sue Gardner Adams, 64, will be Saturday, Jan. 8, at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel in Leeds. Burial will be in Andalusia Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Adams died Jan. 6. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Kirby Adams; and brother, Jerry Gardner.

She is survived by daughter, Karen Denise Adams of Lincoln; sons, Curtis Christopher Adams of Birmingham, Kirby Allen Adams of Moody and Randall Bertelle Adams of Lincoln; sisters, Christine Gray and Aggie Morris; brothers, Edward, James, Raymond, Tommy and John Gardner; and one grandson.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds will direct the service.

IRMA MILDRED BLANKENSHIP

RAGLAND - Funeral service for Irma Mildred Blankenship, 94, will be Saturday, Jan. 8, at 2 p.m. at Ragland Church of Christ with Marty Glenn officiating. Burial will be in Ragland Methodist Cemetery.

Mrs. Blankenship died Jan. 6 at Sugar Valley Assisted Living. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Blankenship; and son, Lt. Col. Lamar Blankenship. She worked as a seamstress for many years and was a member of Ragland Church of Christ.

She is survived by daughters, Norma Wooley of Anniston and Edna Daffron (Lamar) of Ragland; daughter-in-law, Janice Blankenship of Monroeville; sisters, Mary Jo Barber of Coal City and Tommie Sue Milam of Demopolis; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

KENNETH BROOKS

ALEXANDER CITY - Funeral service for Kenneth Brooks, 49, will be Saturday, Jan. 8, at noon at Armour’s Memorial Funeral Home chapel in Alexander City with the Rev. Roderick Williams officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Sinai Church Cemetery in Alexander City.

Mr. Brooks died Jan. 3 in Alexander City. He was born Aug. 5, 1955 in Tallapoosa County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Lee Brooks Jr. and Lizzie Lee Tuck Brooks.

He is survived by his wife, Emma Lee Russell Brooks; sisters, Sue Ann Kelley of Goodwater, Bobbie Jean Owney and Bertha Mae Stowes of Alexander City and Sarah Hill of San Bernardino, Calif.; brother, Matthew Brooks of Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of other relatives.

The body may be viewed from 11 a.m. until noon at the funeral home.

Armour’s Memorial Funeral Home will direct the service.

PEGGY LOUISE THACKER BUSH

JEMISON - Funeral service for Peggy Louise Thacker Bush, 62, was Friday, Jan. 7, at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Jason Smith, the Rev. Doug Powell, the Rev. Gene Hitchcock and the Rev. Brad Bridges officiating. Burial was in Macedonia Baptist Cemetery in Maplesville.

Mrs. Bush died Jan. 4 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center. She was born Thursday, April 23, 1942 in Jefferson County. She was preceded in death by her father, John Doyle Thacker. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by sons, Terry L. Bush of Brent, Jerry W. Bush of Mt. Wolf, Pa., and John A. Bush of Jemison; her mother, Louise C. Thacker of Jemison; brother, Johnny E. Thacker Sr. of Jemison; and six grandchildren.

Martin Funeral Home in Clanton directed the service.

ELMA M. CALFEE

SYLACAUGA - Funeral service for Elma M. Calfee, 81, will be Saturday, Jan. 8, at 2 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with Brother Walter Morris and Brother Ken Light officiating. Burial will be in Unity Presbyterian Cemetery in Weogufka.

Mrs. Calfee died Jan. 6 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.R. "Buck" Calfee; daughter, Cynthia Terrell Calfee; granddaughter, Jamie Diane; sisters, Dassie Collins, Pearl Gaither, Louise Ellison, Lorene Shurette and Glenda Sims; and brothers, Marion McGrady and T.S. McGrady. She was a faithful member of The Kingdom Hall.

She is survived by sons, Michael L. Calfee of Sylacauga, Kenneth E. Calfee of Carson City, Calif., and Randy L. Calfee of Sylacauga; sisters, Evelyn Taylor of Sylacauga, Sue Shaw of Dothan and Denson McGrady of Stewartville; brothers, Elton McGrady of Stewartville and Wayne McGrady of Pensacola, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Grandchildren and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga will direct the service.

LONZER CHATMAN

ALPINE - Lonzer Chatman, 83, of 1111 Jones Road, died Jan. 6 in Alpine.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry’s Metropolitan Mortuary.

ANNICE DAVIS GURLEY

TALLADEGA - Graveside service for Annice Davis Gurley, 89, will be Sunday, Jan. 9, at 2 p.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery in Talladega with the Rev. Hugh Kelso officiating.

Mrs. Gurley died Jan. 7 at Talladega Health Care Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega, was a member of Southwood Presbyterian Church and was a graduate of Talladega High School Class of 1933. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. (Ed) Gurley; and one son, Thomas D. Gurley.

She is survived by son, Michael E. Gurley of Talladega; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jack Bowden, Carlton Highfield, Paul Davis, Milton Davis, Bill Hurst and Sam Thackerson.

Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the service.

DORIS JACKSON

SYLACAUGA - Funeral service for Doris "Dennie" Jackson, 80, will be Saturday, Jan. 8, at 11 a.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Ray Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga.

Mrs. Jackson died Jan. 6 in Birmingham.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert J. Jackson of Sylacauga; sister, Deloris L. Price of Hollins; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be A.J. Price, Jeremy Price, Edward Price, Nathan Price, Stephen Svoboda, Alan Price and Eddie Price.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 9 until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

PAUL M. MAXWELL

KELLYTON - Funeral service for Paul M. Maxwell will be Monday, Jan. 10, at 2 p.m. at New Elam No. 2 in Kellyton with the Rev. Autry Powell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Maxwell died Jan. 5 at Civic Center Health in Birmingham. He was born Nov. 6, 1941 in Coosa County. He was preceded in death by his father, Jake Maxwell Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Betty B. Drake Maxwell of Alexander City; his mother, Essie Maxwell of Kellyton; sisters, Ann Nell Flowers of Detroit, Mich., Linnie Bell Wyckoff of Coosa County, Ethel Lee Marbury of Birmingham and Bobby Tucker of Detroit, Mich.; brothers, Ira Maxwell of Alexander City and Aaron Maxwell of Lineville; one grandchild; and a host of other relatives.

Armour’s Memorial Funeral Home will direct the service.

LILLIE MAE GAITHER MORROW

ASHLAND - Funeral service for Lillie Mae Gaither Morrow, 89, will be Sunday, Jan. 9, at 2 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home chapel in Ashland. Burial will be in Ashland City Cemetery.

Mrs. Morrow died Jan. 7 at Clay County Hospital.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:30 until 8 p.m. Saturday and until service time Sunday.

Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland will direct the service.

JAMES PATTERSON

SYLACAUGA - Graveside service for James Patterson, 42, will be Saturday, Jan. 8, at 2 p.m. in Hollins Cemetery with the Rev. Harold Meherg officiating.

Mr. Patterson died Jan. 6 at First Freewill Baptist Church. His pride and joy was his beloved daughter Kayla.

He is survived by beloved daughter, Kayla Patterson of Sylacauga; son, Matthew Thornton of Hollins; his mother, Mary Ruth Lane of Ashland; brother, Donnie Patterson of Hollins; and sisters, Sheila Hill of Sylacauga and Sharon Campbell of Ashland.

Pallbearers will be Marlin Smith, Thomas Patterson, Michael Franklin, J.C. Bullard, Don Hughes, Touri Dewberry and Robert Hallmark.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.
