EDGAR MADISON FINN

Edgar Madison Finn, 82, of Harpersville, departed this life peacefully on February 28, 2005. Ed loved the Lord with a love that grew deeper and stronger with the passing of years, and he was dearly beloved himself by his family and by countless friends. He is survived by his son Edgar and daughter-in-law Mickey of Chelsea; grandchildren Eric Finn and his wife Stefanie of Sterrett, Michelle Finn of Boone, North Carolina, and Katie Finn of Chelsea; his brother Ralph Finn of Alpine; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his dear wife Wilma, and by his brothers James Finn, Ira Finn, Herbert Finn, Willis Finn, Sam Finn, and Arles Finn.

Funeral service will be held at Harpersville United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, the Revs. Keith Elder and Rev. Nancy Cole, presiding, followed by interment at the Harpersville Memorial Garden, where he will be buried beside his dear departed.

Ed was a cheerful giver, therefore the family requests that in lieu of flowers, individuals who are moved to give likewise would make generous contributions either to their local church, to the Harpersville Memorial Garden Fund, c/o Mrs. Billie Darby, 5809 Highway 280, Harpersville, AL 35078, or to the American Diabetes. Association.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home Childersburg Chapel will direct the service.

DR. JO NEWELL ROBINSON

COLUMBUS, Miss. — Funeral service for Dr. Jo Newell Robinson, 85, was Jan. 7 at First Presbyterian Church in Columbus with the Rev. Wayne Bruchey and the Rev. Ron McDougal officiating. Burial was in Friendship Cemetery.

Dr. Robinson died Jan. 5. Dr. Robinson was the son of the late Dr. Edward Bryce Robinson, who served as president of the Presbyterian Children’s Home in Talladega from 1916 until 1948.

"Dr. Jo," as he was affectionately called, was a veteran of World War II, and a graduate of Davidson College, Tulane Medical School, Washington University and Alabama Medical School.

He practiced medicine for 51 years, including 45 years as a pediatrician in Columbus.

He was a member of Columbus First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder.

He was a past president of Columbus Kiwanis, and also served as president of the Columbus Concert Assoc., for 33 years. He was a former member of the Columbus City Council, a member of the YMCA Board, and a supporter of the Columbus Palmer House.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Dr. Bryce Robinson and Dr. John Carson Robinson.

He is survived by his wife, Jenny H. Robinson of Columbus; daughter, Kathryn B. Steinemann of Atlanta; son, Dr. Newell B. Robinson of Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.; and brother, Dr. Dabney P. Robinson of Greenville, S.C.

Memorials may be made to Palmer Home for Children, P.O. Box 746, Columbus, Miss., 39703, or The Presbyterian Home for Children, P.O. Drawer 577, Talladega, 35161-9975.

Gunter and Peel Funeral Home in Columbus directed the service.

WILLIAM STRICKLAND

PENSACOLA, Fla. - Funeral service for William "Strick" Strickland, 83, will be Wednesday, March 2, at 2 p.m. at Faith Chapel North in Cantonment, Fla., with the Rev. L.C. Rucker officiating. Burial will be in Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Strickland died Feb. 26. He was born June 3, 1921 in Talladega Springs. He was a member of Olive Baptist Church, was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Shrine. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired from Monsanto after 31 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Sylvia Strickland.

He is survived by his children, William Larry Strickland, Terri Tirella of Atlanta, Ga., and Gregory Bryant Strickland; sister, Ven Baker of Sylacauga; and four grandchildren.

Faith Chapel Funeral Home North in Cantonment, Fla., will direct the service.

LOUISE COST WILLIAMS

BIRMINGHAM — Funeral service for Louise Cost Williams, 89, will be Thursday, March 3, at 10 a.m. at Jefferson Memorial Chapel in Trussville with Steve Andrews officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens East.

Mrs. Williams died March 1. She was a member of Huffman Baptist Church and was retired from Avondale Mills with 37 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husbands, E.L. Cost and J.C. Williams; and son, Lavelle Cost.

She is survived by daughter, Peggy Birley of Birmingham; brothers, Smiley Lumpkin of Scotia, N.Y., and Howard Lumpkin of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jefferson Memorial will direct the service.

VIRLYN L. BULGER

Virlyn Bulger, age 82 of Florence, AL., passed away Monday evening, February 28, 2005, in the hospital.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 3, 6-8 p.m., at Spry Serenity Chapel Florence. The funeral service will be Friday, March 4, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Larry Wright officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of his Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church.

Virlyn was born October 1, 1922 in Atlanta, Ga. He was the son of the late William Clark Bulger and the late Lillie Wood Bulger. Virlyn was a retired professor of science from the University of North Alabama. He has been a resident of Florence for 38 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Florence. A member of the Florence Lions Club and UNA Sportsman’s Club. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Virlyn was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ruth Bulger.

Survivors include his son, Donald L. Bulger and wife Betty of Richmond, Va.; daughters, Linda Cornatzer of Florence, Patricia Waddell and husband Larry of Centre, AL, Sandra Wade and husband Donald of Chattanooga, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Donna Colburn of Charleston, R.I., Deanna Daniel of Richmond, Va., Teresa Lentz and Richard Cornatzer of Florence, Johnathan Waddell and Angelyn Waddell of Atlanta, Ga., Michael Wade of Alabaster, AL, and Vicki Wade of Chattanooga, Tenn.; three great-granddaughters, Caroline Lentz, Britton Wade and Rose Emmons; four great-grandsons, Hunter Cornatzer, Eric Colburn, John and Willie Daniel; brother, Vernon Bulger and sisters, Mildred Coyle and Jeanette McCain.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University of North Alabama, First Baptist Church of Florence, AL, The American Diabetes. or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Danny Martin and Ms. Sarah Smith for her special care.

KATHLEEN DEPOISTER EDMONDSON

SYLACAUGA - Graveside service for Kathleen Depoister Edmondson, 84, will be Thursday, March 3, at 2 p.m. in Fayetteville Methodist Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Jones officiating.

Mrs. Edmondson died March 1 at Brookwood Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ada Depoister; her husband, Russell Edmondson; and grandsons, Jimmy Wesson and Johnny McGrady.

She is survived by son, Roger Edmondson of Sylacauga; daughters, Ileene Wesson of Sylacauga and Peggy McGrady of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Linda Johnson, Chuck Wesson, Kathy Turney, Deborah Jacobs, Kenneth McGrady and Carrie Edmondson; and great-grandchildren, Rusty Newton, Laura Isabell, Colton Turney, Nicholas Turney, Taylor Wesson, Chestin Wesson, Payton Wesson, Elizabeth Baker, Nathan McGrady, Whitney Wesson and Clay Wesson.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

RONALD F. GRAY

ANNISTON - Ronald F. Gray, 57, died March 2.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Ervin Funeral Chapel.

VOYD ISBELL

CROPWELL - Funeral service for Voyd Isbell, 87, will be Friday, March 4, at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel in Pell City. Burial will be in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.

Mr. Isbell died March 2.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Kathleen Isbell; daughters, Doris Gibson and Brenda Marsh; sons, Willard, William, Charles, Billy and Ronald Isbell; sisters, Mildred Tipton and Edna Lipham; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

GUYTON LAMAR WOODARD

LINCOLN - Guyton Lamar Woodard, 60, died March 2 at his residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega.
