Talladega - Shirley Ann Edwards, 63, of Antioch Community, died Wednesday, March 30 at Citizens Baptist Medical Hospital. Funeral arrangements will be made by Ervin Funeral Chapel, Anniston.

ASHLAND - Ella Simmons, 94, of Howard Ballard Drive, died March 30 at Clay County Hospital, Ashland. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary, Talladega.

TALLADEGA - Lucille W. McCullars, 89, passed away March 30 at Citizens BMC. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Usrey Funeral Home, Talladega.

CHARLES RAY MATHIS

PELL CITY - Funeral service for Charles Ray Mathis, 67, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City with the Rev. Edwin Taley officiating. Burial will be in Coosa Valley Cemetery, Cropwell. Mr. Mathis died March 30 at his residence. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amber Mathis. He is survived by his wife, Laura Yvone Mathis; daughter, Laura M. Rankin (Tim) of Pell City; two sons James Ray Mathis (B.J.), and David Michael Mathis (Eve) both of Pell City; Grandchildren, Joseph and Jerry Jones, Christian, Jim and Pamela Mathis, Lacey, Chelsee, and Rebecca Mathis; two brothers, Raymond Mathis of Pell City, James Wiley Mathis of Ragland; sister, Dean Mathis of Southern Pines, N.C., a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

ELIZABETH DIANE MCGOWAN

CHILDERSBURG - Elizabeth Diane McGowan, 50, of 129 Sadie Lee Homes, died Monday, March 28 at her residence. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Community Funeral Home, Sylacauga.

PERVIS G. ROBINSON

ASHLAND - Funeral services for Pervis G. Robinson, age 61 will be Thursday, March 31, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Methodist Protestant Church with the Rev. John Luckie officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. Mr. Robinson died March 29. He was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County. He was retired from Alabama Power Company with more than 20 years of service. He had previously served in the Alabama National Guard and was an avid outdoors man. He was a Baptist by faith.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Robinson of Ashland; one daughter, Penny Phillips and son-in-law, Daron Phillips of Coletta Valley; one son, Guin Robinson of Birmingham; two granddaughters, Courtney Phillips and Allison Phillips; three sisters, Annie Lou Thomas and brother-in-law, Dow Thomas of Leeds, Jeanell Williams and brother-in-law, Sam of Enterprise, Nancy Cassady and brother-in-law Mike Cassady of Letohatchee; two brothers, Russell Robinson and sister-in-law Merita Robinson of Sylacauga, and Quinton Robinson and sister-in-law Wynell Robinson of Jacksons Gap. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Robinson and Mattie Bryant Robinson and brothers, Linward Robinson and Pete Robinson.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening beginning at 5:30 at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers for Mr. Robinson will be Paul Jackson, Bo Smith, Ron Waters, Don Parsons, Larry Williams, Tony Tomlin, Rodney Blackburn, and Junior Robinson. Honorary pallbearers will be present and former employees of Alabama Power Company. Clay County Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

BIRMINGHAM - Michael Charles Stoner Sims, 49, of 3628 42nd Ave. North, died Monday, March 28, at his residence. Arrangements will be made by Sims Funeral Service, Talladega.

MARY GOSDIN VINCENT

BON AIR - Funeral service for Mary Gosdin Vincent, 67, will be Friday, April 1, at 2 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Jimmy Abrams officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Vincent died March 29 in Bon Air. She was a loving mother and friend. She is survived by sons, Jimmy Gosdin of Bon Air, Anthony Vincent and wife, Kay, of Mobile and Jon Vincent and wife, Jessica, of Childersburg; step-sons, Jeff Vincent and wife, Cindy, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Scott Vincent of McDonna, Ga., and Cameron Vincent of Fayetteville; step-daughter, Brittney Vincent of Fayetteville; nieces, Sue Merritt of Bon Air, and Mary Haywood of Sylacauga; and 14 Grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

VIRGIL RUSSELL SIDDALL

Cropwell - Funeral services for Virgil Russell Siddall, 80, of Cropwell, will be Thursday, March 31 at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Chapel, Pell City. Burial will be Friday April 1 at Georgia Memorial Cemetery, at 10 a.m. Mr. Siddall died Wednesday, March 30. He was a founding member of the Lakewood Presbyterian Church. He was past Secretary of Kiwanis of the State of Alabama. He was past Lt. Governor of Kiwanis of the State of Georgia.

He is survived by his wife Guila Bailey Siddall; Daughters Virginia Ann (Ginger) Bird, Diana Lynn Woods; Step-Daughter Mary Clinkscales; Grandchildren Lisa Ann Brown, Jennifer Leigh Altizer, Jada Wane Brownfield, Eva Lynn Hildebrant; Six Great Grandchildren. Visitation for Mr. Siddall will be March 31 at Kilgroe Funeral Home, Pell City, from 12 - 2 p.m. Kilgroe Funeral Home, Pell City, will direct the service.

LOREAN WHITSON GARRETT

ALPINE - Funeral service for Lorean Whitson Garrett, 67, of 2766 Nottingham Road, will be Saturday, April 2, at 1 p.m. at Kingston Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Garrett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Garrett died March 27 at Citizens BMC. She is survived by her husband, Carey Edison Garrett of Alpine; seven daughters; three sons; three sisters; and two brothers. The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the service.

WILLIE JAMES GARRETT

TALLADEGA - Willie James Garrett, 62, of 778 Diamond Lane, died March 31 at his residence. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.

LUCILLE W. McCULLARS

LINCOLN - Funeral service for Lucille W. McCullars, 89, will be Saturday, April 2, at noon at Usrey Funeral Home chapel in Talladega with Jim McCullars, the Rev. Bill Goodwin and Andy Allred officiating. Burial will be in Patton Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. McCullars died March 30 at Citizens BMC. She was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega County and was a member of Lincoln Baptist Church. She was a member of Lincoln Boosters Club for many years and numerous other community activities. She was retired from Anniston Army Depot.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. (Oss) McCullars; and son, Howard McCullars. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Sue McCullars of Talladega; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Bonnie Marlow of Huntsville; daughter-in-law, Marty McCullars of Southside; grandchildren, Jim McCullars, Stan McCullars, Rob McCullars, Laura Kynerd, Teresa Higginbotham, Mark Higginbotham, Stanley McCullars and Leigh Ann Fridley; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and caregiver, Greer Cheatwood. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until noon at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lincoln Boosters Club, P.O. Box 91, Lincoln, Ala., 35096. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the service.

ELIZABETH DIANNE McGOWAN

SYLACAUGA - Funeral service for Elizabeth Dianne McGowan, 50, will be Saturday, April 2, at 1 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Sylacauga with the Rev. Jerome Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Marrietta Baptist Church Cemetery in Goodwater. Mrs. McGowan died March 28 at her residence. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

She is survived by her stepfather, George Washington Williams of Childersburg; two daughters, Conseula Shaneka McGowan and Cheryl Jones of Childersburg; four sons, Chris McGowan of Childersburg, Trinity McGowan of Montgomery, Antonio McGowan of Sylacauga and Richard Garrett of Talladega; one sister, Shovette Seals of Talladega; one brother, Roderick McGowan of Mobile; 18 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers and flowerbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from noon until 9 p.m. Community Funeral Home will direct the service.

MICHAEL CHARLES STONER SIMS

BIRMINGHAM - Funeral service for Michael Charles Stoner Sims, 49, will be Saturday, April 2, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church with Pastor Bobby J. Welch officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Sims died March 28 at his residence. He is survived by his son, Michael Ragland of Birmingham; daughter, Tereka Dates of Talladega; sisters, Janet Stoner Poole of Birmingham and Angela Sims of Talladega; brother, Ronald Stoner of Talladega; stepdaughter, Sharon Welch of Talladega; two grandchildren; and a host of other relatives. Sims Funeral Service will direct the service.

MOSSIE MAE STRONG

ALEXANDER CITY - Mossie Mae Strong died March 31 at Russell Medical Center. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Wright's Funeral Home.

AUBREY GENE SWINFORD

Aubrey Gene "Bama" Swinford died Thursday, March 17, at the Kavanagh House. Funeral service will be Saturday, April 9, at 11 a.m. at Munford Baptist Church. Bama enjoyed playing golf at the Indianola Country Club, of which he was a member, following the Georgia Bulldogs football program, where he played during college and spending time with his large and loving family. Bama was also a member of the IBEW No. 347.

He will be missed by his wife, Marsha; sons, Brian and David of Athens, Ga.; stepdaughter, Jennifer (Ryan) St. John of Des Moines, Iowa; granddaughter, Hannah St. John of Des Moines, Iowa; his mother, Belle Swinford of Munford; sister, Lynda (Leon) Cogburn of Texas City, Texas; brothers, Cecil (Sharon) Swinford of Fallbrook, Calif., Gerald (Pat) Swinford of Lincoln, Wayne (Susan) Swinford of Athens, Ga., and Lynn (Sandra) Swinford of Munford. He was preceded in death by his father, James Aubrey Swinford; and a sister, Anita Gurley. Memorial contributions may be made to Kavanagh House on 56th Street or to the family to be designated in the future. Brooks Funeral Care will direct the service.

FRANCES TWYMAN

TALLADEGA - Funeral service for Frances Twyman, 64, will be Saturday, April 2, at noon at Shiloh Apostolic Church of Promise with Pastor Samuel B. Holt officiating. Burial will be in Midway Memory Gardens. Mrs. Twyman died March 30 at Citizens BMC. She is survived by two sons, Tommy Twyman of Cincinnati, Ohio and Victor Twyman of Atlanta, Ga.; one daughter, Sandra Twyman of Talladega; four sisters, Estell Myers of Westbury, N.Y., Elizabeth Williams of Cincinnati, Ohio, Bobbie Nix of Columbia, Tenn., and Veronica Twyman of Talladega; one brother, Robert Twyman Jr. of Talladega; six grandchildren; and a host of other relatives. Sims Funeral Service will direct the service.

LUCY F. ECHOLS

RAGLAND - Funeral service for Lucy F. Echols, 79, will be Sunday, April 3, at 2 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel in Pell City with the Rev. Doug Ford officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Cemetery. Mrs. Echols died April 1 in Pell City. She was preceded in death by her husband, Huey Echols. She is survived by four sisters, Bertie Layton, Helen Copeland, Janette Pierce and Peggy (Larry) Baker; and one brother, Billy Ray (Inez) St. John. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

JAMES H. FLEMMONS

TALLADEGA - Funeral service for James H. Flemmons (High Ninety) (Slim), 82, will be Saturday, April 2, at 11 a.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Anniston with the Rev. Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Green's Chapel, Highway 9, in Heflin. Mr. Flemmons died March 30 at Baptist Medical Center Montclair in Birmingham. He was a native of Heflin and was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County. He retired from Union Foundry with 30 years of service. He was an avid supporter of Wellborn Athletics and was a member of First Brecon Baptist Church of Talladega. He is survived by daughter, Linda Resch of Columbus, Ga.; son, Steve Flemmons and wife Becky of Anniston; special friend, Hazel Johnson of Talladega; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Frank Chastain, Wren Heath, Eli Henderson, Willie Carpenter, Eddie Jacobs and Norman Cunningham. Honorary pallbearers will be Union Foundry Retirees Breakfast Club, Reiber Heath and Hargas Jackson. Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Anniston will direct the service.

IRENE HENDERSON

GADSDEN - Funeral service for Irene Henderson, 73, will be Sunday, April 3, at 2 p.m. at Riverside Baptist Church in St. Clair County with the Rev. Billy Bedford officiating. Prayer by Elder Charlie Henderson. Jackie Ragland will perform "I Won't Complain" and Cora Belyeu will perform "Precious Lord". Interment will be in Coleman Cemetery in Riverside. On Wednesday, March 30, 2005, Mrs. Irene Henderson departed this life. Her death has been a shock to family and friends who dearly loved her. She always had a pleasant smile and encouraging word for all who came in contact with her. She was born in St. Clair County (Riverside, Alabama) on July 9, 1931, the daughter of the late John and Dollie Howard. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined the First Baptist Church of Riverside. Mrs. Henderson was married to the late William Henderson and from this union were born Clarence Henderson and the late Clifford Henderson. Chosen sons are Alonza Harris, Duncan Caselberry and Brodrick Caselberry. She leaves to mourn: Son, Clarence Henderson and his wife Linda, Gadsden; Alonza Harris and his wife Dorothy, Atlanta, Ga., Duncan Caselberry and his wife Kathryn, Marietta, Ga., and Brodrick Caselberry, Huntsville; grandchildren, Bea Drea Henderson, Katherine Henderson, Clarence E. Horton, Venus Horton, Jahanda Simmons, Janea Harris, Blaine Caselberry, Kamryn Caselberry and Lemirian Caselberry; brother, Preston Howard, Riverside; a host of nieces and nephews; and special son, Jackie Ragland of Gadsden.

Pallbearers will be Duncan Caselberry, Broderick Caselberry, Jackie Ragland, Alonza Harris, Roger Musick and Carl Harrison. The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home Saturday evening, April 2, from 5-7 p.m. Collier-Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Services will direct the service.

BONNELL S. POLK

PELL CITY - Funeral service for Bonnell S. Polk, 90, will be Saturday, April 2, at 2 p.m. at Arbor Baptist Church with Brother D. Whitt Hibbs officiating. Burial will be in Seddon Cemetery. Mrs. Polk died March 31. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Franklin Polk; son, Don Jeffrey Polk and his wife Ellen Williford Polk; granddaughter, Laurie Nell Polk; and great-grandson, Alec Rian Polk. Mrs. Polk was a lifelong resident of Pell City, was a member of Arbor Baptist Church and was retired from Avondale Mills with 40 years of service. She is survived by three daughters, Edna Fay Chambless of Vienna, Va., Jimmie Nell Miller (Ray) of Pell City and Betty Jo Polk of Montgomery; daughter-in-law, Sheila Polk; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church. The family requests memorials be made to Arbor Baptist Church or Lakeside Hospice Inc. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

DAYTON, Ohio - Funeral service for Cynthia D. Jennings Wade will be Saturday, April 2, 2 p.m., New Adka Baptist Church. Burial in Shiloh Cemetery. Wright's Funeral Home.
