ASHVILLE - Funeral service for Charles Ray Beatty, 65, will be Monday, April 11, at 2 p.m. at Ashville Church of God with the Rev. Richard Ashley officiating. Burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery in Springville. Mr. Beatty died April 8 in Birmingham. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The body may be viewed at the church from 1-2 p.m. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

TALLADEGA - Funeral service for John Lynn Beck Sr., 49, of 1004 Old Lincoln Highway, will be Monday, April 11, at 11 a.m. at Mount Canaan Baptist Church with the Rev. Horace L. Patterson and the Rev. Hardy Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Beck's Memorial Garden. Mr. Beck died April 5 in Decatur. He was employed by One World Logistics. He is survived by daughters, Tamika Beck of Gwinnett County, Ga., Quintessa Abernathy of Margaret and Rhonda Abernathy of Leeds; son, John Lynn Beck Jr. of Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo.; sisters, Jean Storey, Juliette Collins, Janice B. Truss, Delois Cook and Annie Beck Eaton, all of Talladega and Victoria Tolley of Hueytown; brother, Cedric Beck of Lincoln; and grandchildren, Alliyah Abernathy, Toni Abernathy and Kynnedi Lynn Beck. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home. The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the service.

VANDIVER - Funeral service for Stephen (Cowboy) Chase, 53, will be Monday, April 11, at 2 p.m. at Union Hill Church in Vandiver. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery in Vandiver. Mr. Chase died April 8. He was preceded in death by a brother, Arnie Chase. He is survived by his wife, Nina Chase; mother and step-father, Hazel and David Badger; three sons, Scott, Clay and Bryant Adams; three sisters, Sandra Deloach (Steven), Linda Libby (Dana) and Sharon (Jim); three brothers, Francis Chase (Lenore), Elden Chase (Norma) and Edmon Badger (Donna); five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday at 4 p.m. at Union Hill Church. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

MUNFORD - Funeral service for Deacon William R. Conley, 74, of 945 Goodenville Road, will be Tuesday, April 12, at 1 p.m. at Kelly Spring Baptist Church with Pastor L.L. Jacobs officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Kelly Spring Memorial Garden. Deacon Conley died April 6 at Baptist Medical Center Montclair. He is survived by his wife, Katie Conley; one son, Troy A. Conley of Munford; three daughters, Sandra Jackson and Pamela F. Conley of Austin, Texas and Terri L. Conley of Birmingham; four sisters, Willie Ruth Harris and Linda Gail Foster of Cleveland, Ohio, Mary C. Ford of Birmingham and Helen Rose Shealy of Munford; three brothers, Joseph Conley of Talladega, Ulysses Conley of Hobson City and Bobby Conley of Cleveland, Ohio; six grandchildren; and a host of other relatives. The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service. Sims Funeral Service will direct the service.

CHILDERSBURG - Betty Keith, 48, of 865 Fayetteville Road, died April 9 at her residence. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.

GLADYS M. PHILLIPS

CRESTVIEW, Fla. - Funeral service for Gladys M. Phillips, 97, will be Sunday, April 10, at 2 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel in Talladega with the Rev. Randall Ingram officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Phillips died April 8 in Crestview, Fla. She was a native and resident of Talladega for most of her life. She had lived in Florida since 1963. She was a member of Cinco Baptist Church in Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. She was a former employee of Citizens Hospital in Talladega. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Phillips; daughter, Sara Vincent; and son, Dilmus Phillips. She is survived by two daughters, LaMurl Dyson of Talladega and Kathleen Bowman of Crestview, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the service.

ANNE HAYNES RIGGINS

SYLACAUGA - Funeral service for Anne Haynes Riggins, 92, will be Monday, April 11, at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North chapel with Brother Mike Kaiser officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Riggins died April 8 at Coosa Valley Nursing Home. She was a member of Broadway Church of Christ and was preceded in death by her husband, William Riggins. She retired from Avondale Mills with 40 years of service. She was a very devoted church member and mother. She is survived by two sons, William Marion Riggins and wife Rita of Memphis, Tenn., and Gerald Haynes Riggins and wife Lynn of Brierfield; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Riggins Jr., Charles Lybrand, Jayme Moore, Derrick Pitts, Bill Pitts, Billy Frank Pitts, Todd Riggins and Van Riggins. Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

SYLACAUGA - Kathy Shell died April 9 at Brookwood Medical Center. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Curtis and Son Funeral Home.

FAYE MORTON STONE

SYLACAUGA - Funeral service for Faye Morton Stone, 65, will be Monday, April 11, at 11 a.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home Childersburg chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery. Mrs. Stone died April 8 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her father, Dallas Hill; brother, Bobby Joe Hall; and grandson, Little Willie Deason. She was a member of East Side Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Women of Faith.

She is survived by her husband, Eldon Stone of Childersburg; two sons, Randy Morton of Childersburg and Eldon Stone Jr. of Blountsville; six daughters, Ronda Morton, Gwen Renn, Tinkie Stewart and Darla Brasher of Childersburg and Ginger Dorning and Belinda Baker of Blountsville; her mother, Cora Lee Erby of Grant; four brothers, John Hill of New Hope, Freddie Erby of Grant, Joe Wayne Erby of Grant and W.C. Hall of Huntsville; three sisters, Ruby Apperson of Childersburg, Judy Smith of Chickamauga, Ga., and Virginia East of Huntsville; special caregiver, Ronda Kite; 13 grandchildren, Jamie and Kristal Deason, Steve and Kristi Thompson, Jeff and Brooke Cucinella, Donald and Jennifer Bearden, Glenn and Ashley Hebson, Jim Brasher, Reid Brasher, Hannah Trucks, Brittany Scroggins, Adam and Justina Dorning, Zach Dorning, Trey Smith and Seth Smith; and seven great-grandchildren, Ben Tompson, Isabel Cucinella, Savannah Deason, Conner Hebson, Kayla Hebson, Brynne Bearden and Shelby Bearden. Grandsons and family members will serve as pallbearers. Curtis and Son Funeral Home Childersburg Chapel will direct the service.

ELISE H. DRUMMONDS

TALLADEGA - Funeral service for Elise H. Drummonds, 83, will be Thursday, April 14, at 11 a.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel in Talladega with the Rev. Parnell Aldridge and the Rev. Samuel Nichols officiating. Burial will be in Laniers Cemetery in Childersburg. Mrs. Drummonds died April 11 at Clay County Hospital. She was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega County. She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Talladega and was retired from Crown Textile. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. James O. Drummonds; one son, Otis Drummonds; and one daughter, Doris Elise Drummonds. She is survived by one daughter, J.D. Goolsby of Moody; one son, Ragan Drummonds of Ashland; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:30 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Hood, Jeff Hood, Steve Thomas, Bart Smith, Brad Smith and Chris Smith. Deacons of First Freewill Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the service.

RAGLAND - Funeral service for Larry Gray, 58, will be Thursday, April 14, at 2 p.m. at Refuge Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Speakman officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Cemetery. Mr. Gray died April 11 at his residence. He was retired from General Motors and attended Refuge Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, D.J. Gray of Ragland; son, Larry "Butch" Gray of Ragland; seven brothers, Richard Gray of Maryland, Travis Gray of Ragland, James Gray of Gardendale, Marvin Gray of Ohio, Albert Gray of Ragland, John Gray of Ragland and Junior Gray of Fultondale; three sisters, Louise Bice of Chicago, Ill., Joan Gray of Ragland and Jenny Pinkston of Ragland; and grandchildren, Hannah Gray of Tennessee and Cecelia and Jonah Gray of Pell City. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Butch Gray, Steven St. John, Cathy Bice, Jerry Jones, Daniel Hyde and Jack Bice. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Highsmith and Jimmy Myers. Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

MARLENE S. LAYTON

OXFORD - Graveside service for Marlene S. Layton, 71, will be Thursday, April 14, at 2 p.m. in St. Clair Memorial Gardens in Pell City with the Rev. Thomas Bonds officiating. Mrs. Layton died April 11 in Riverside. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Layton.

She is survived by son, Rickey Howard (Beth) of Riverside; four grandchildren, Daniel Howard (Sheri) of Oxford, Jeremy Teague (Alicia) of Moody, Paul Howard (Kerry) of Oxford and Mitchell Howard of Riverside; five great-grandchildren, Austin, Shelby, Peyton, Reese and Aiden; two sisters, Nancy Shropeshire of Georgia and Lois Davis of Pell City; and one brother, Johnny Roy Stokes of Birmingham. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

TALLADEGA - Izola Oden, 98, of 303 Prospect St., died April 12 at her residence. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.

PIEDMONT - Bobby J. Pallmore, 20, died April 11. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Ervin Funeral Chapel.

A. MAREL PHILLIPS

EASTABOGA - Graveside service for A. Marel Phillips, 78, will be Thursday, April 14, at 2 p.m. in Lincoln Cemetery in Lincoln with the Rev. Alan Layton officiating. Mr. Phillips died April 11 at RMC in Anniston. He was a native of Etowah County and was a resident of Talladega most of his life. He was a Baptist by faith. He was retired from Talladega County Road Department and was a former employee of John Ray Trucking. He is survived by his wife, Opal L. Phillips of Eastaboga; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Chuck Gober of Eastaboga and Robin and Ronnie Winton of Eastaboga; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Clara Johnson of Lincoln, Elizabeth Dulaney of Lincoln, Harriett Willis of Oxford and Linda Henry of Oxford.

Pallbearers will be John Ray, Mike Dulaney, Tim Lipham, Press Pope, Phillip Lee and Bill Johnson. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the service.

ROY C. PORTER

NEW YORK - Roy C. Porter, 61, died April 10 at Brookdale Hospital in New York. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Childersburg Mortuary Service.

CHARLIE F. FARR SR.

SYLACAUGA - Funeral service for Charlie F. Farr Sr., 69, will be Sunday, April 17, at 2 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with Mark Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga. Mr. Farr died April 14 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. He was employed with Thompson Motors of Oak Grove. Mr. Farr was involved in various civic activities in the Sylacauga area and was a past co-chairman of the Sylacauga Planning Commission. A lifelong train enthusiast, Mr. Farr was active in the Heart of Dixie Railroad Club of Calera and was a past member of the Board of Directors.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ruth Farr of Sylacauga; son, Charlie F. "Chuck" Farr of Virginia Beach, Va.; brother, Douglas Farr of Dade City, Fla.; sister, Jean Holmes of Montgomery; three grandchildren, James Farr of Virginia Beach, Va., Victoria Farr of Fairfax, Va., and Katherine Farr of Hanover, N.H.

Pallbearers will be Billy Thompson, Henry Thompson, Frankie Thompson, Gary Thompson, Matthew Thompson and Timothy Riley. The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. TOMMY WAYNE MURPHY

SYLACAUGA - Funeral service for Tommy Wayne Murphy, 61, will be Monday, April 18, at 2 p.m. at Childersburg Church of Christ with Brother Clarence Denney officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Murphy died April 14 at his residence. He worked at Georgia Pacific, was a decorated Vietnam veteran and was a member of Childersburg Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Maggie Murphy of Sylacauga; his mother, Mable Liner Murphy of Sycamore; two sons, Joshua Murphy of Buford, S.C., and Michael Jennings of Huntsville; two daughters, Christina Adams and Christa Jennings of Sylacauga; two brothers, Jeff Murphy and Jerry Lois "Louie" Murphy of Sylacauga; four sisters, Jerryl Dean Bates and Clessie Fields of Sycamore, Mary Williams of Sylacauga and Brenda Rosetti of Marietta, Ga.; and two grandchildren, Ethan and Reed Adams. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home. The body may be viewed at the church from 1-2 p.m. Monday. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. NEW YORK - Funeral service for Roy Chester Porter, formerly of Childersburg, will be Saturday, April 16, at 1 p.m. at the Enon Baptist Church in Childersburg with the Rev. Calvin Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Lilly Rhoden Cemetery. Mr. Porter died April 10 at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a former member of Enon Baptist Church and an active member of Saint Paul Baptist Church in Brooklyn, N.Y. He was a graduate of Phyllis Wheatley High School. He retired from the Department of Public Works of New York City.

He was preceded in death by his son, Victor Porter. He is survived by his wife, Betty Porter; and son, Douglas Porter, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; his parents, Albert and Annie B. Porter of Childersburg; one brother, Albert Porter Jr. of Baltimore, Md.; sisters, Rebecca Shepard and Gladys and Carolyn Yowe, all of Childersburg and Mildred Kidd of Vincent; one grandchild; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The Class of 1961 will serve as flowerbearers. All viewing and visitation will be Saturday at the church at 1 p.m. Community Funeral Home will direct the service.

SYLACAUGA - Memorial service for Ellis A. Sanderson, 54, will be Sunday, April 17, at 4 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with Kenneth Light officiating. Mr. Sanderson died April 15 in Sylacauga. He was preceded in death by his parents, Odis and Gladys Sanderson. Mr. Sanderson was also an avid deer hunter and gold prospector.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Sanderson of Sylacauga; son, Michael Haisten of Sylacauga; three daughters, Traci Williams of Hoover, Karen Sanderson of Sylacauga and Tracy Roberson of Childersburg; son-in-law, Buddy Williams of Hoover; three brothers, David Sanderson of Albuquerque, N.M., Keith Sanderson of West Monroe, La., and Hal Sanderson of Cartersville, Ga.; two sisters, Janet Cox of Arkansas and Leota Cox of West Monroe, La.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
