ROY LEE HAYNES JR.

Roy Lee Haynes Jr., 83, of 11 Bidwell St., husband of Nancy Sara Souther Haynes, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital, Downtown. Born in Talladega, he was the son of the late Roy Lee Haynes Sr. and Ada Bell Davis Haynes. Mr. Haynes was first employed with AT&T and then retired from Thomas and Howard Wholesale Grocers after 28 years of service. He was a member of Eastlan Baptist Church where he was in the Co-Ed No. 4 Sunday School Class. He was a United States Army veteran having served in the European Theater during World War II in the 100th Division of the 7th Army Field Artillery. He was a member of the Pleasantburg Lions Club, American Legion Post No. 3, Taylors Masonic Lodge No. 345 and the United Commercial Travelers 444.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a sister, Evelyn H. Stough of Eastaboga; a brother, Milford Haynes and his wife June of Lincoln; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two children, Linda Carol Haynes and Francis Leroy Haynes; three brothers and one sister and his loving in-laws, Francis and Dora Souther. Visitation will be at Wednesday, May 18, 2005 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 19, 2005 at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.thomasmcafee.com. Thomas McAfee Funeral Home in Greenville, S.C., will direct the service.

HERBERT CEPHUS "HUB" HURST

PANASOFFKEE, Fla. - Funeral service for Herbert Cephus "Hub" Hurst, 73, will be Thursday, May 19, at 4 p.m. at Talladega Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Harvey Bowlin Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Hurst died May 16 at his residence. He was a native of Talladega County, where he lived most of his life. He was a member of Alpine Baptist Church and was retired from the Talladega County Highway Department.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia "Pat" Hurst of Panasoffkee, Fla.; one daughter, Michele Wilson and husband Scott of Panasoffkee, Fla.; four sisters, Francis Neville of Hepzibah, Ga., Shirley Shirliff of Anaheim, Calif., Sandra Hurst of Glendale, Ariz., and Betty Holmes of Oxford; three brothers, Joe Hurst of Weaver, Louie Hurst of Blount County and Lowell Hurst of Virginia Beach, Va.; and two grandchildren, Nathen and Wade Wilson of Panasoffkee, Fla.

Pallbearers will be Bill McNally, Wayne Watts, Phillip Watts, Guy Smith Jr., Bruce Tidwell and James Lawson. Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Holmes, Willie McMichael and Hershall Parker.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Christopher Reeves Foundation, phone 1-800-539-7309. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.

GERALDINE STEWART JENKINS

TALLADEGA - Funeral services for Geraldine Stewart Jenkins, 68, will be Wednesday, May 18, at 11 a.m. at Talladega Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Allen Layton officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem UMC Cemetery in Munford. Mrs. Jenkins died May 14 at Talladega Healthcare Center. She was a native of Clay County and had lived most of her life in Talladega County. She was retired from Palm Beach Company.

She is survived by daughters, Cathy L. Lackey of Munford, Christy Anderson and husband Andy of West Virginia and Amy Abshire and husband Eric of Florida; sons, Ricky Lackey and wife Brenda of Lincoln and Eric Paul Lackey and wife Deborah of Talladega; sisters, Gay Lemons of Huntsville, Nancy Gurley of Talladega, Belva Smith of Clay County and LouAnn Pruitt of Talladega; brothers, James Stewart and Bobby Stewart of Talladega and Billy Stewart of Clay County; and 12 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Shanon Lackey, Lee Gurley, Rusty Gurley, Rodney Gurley, Bobby Ellard Jr. and Wesley Pruitt. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Gurley, Gerald Smith, Charles Lemons and Larry Elder. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.

MARGARET MORRIS

SYLACAUGA - Margaret Morris, 80, died May 16 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga.

MARTHA JEAN SMITH

TALLADEGA - Funeral service for Martha Jean Smith, 52, was Monday, May 16, at 2 p.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel in Talladega with the Rev. Otis Graves officiating. Burial was in Pine Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Smith died May 14 at Citizens BMC. She was a native of Clay County and was a resident of Talladega most of her life. She was a member of West End Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee Smith Sr.; daughter, Shelia Smith; father, Vester Hendon; and sister, Mary Alice Edwards. She is survived by daughter, Kim McGee of Fyffe; two sons, James H. Smith and Walter Lee Smith of Talladega; her mother, Lucille Hendon of Talladega; three brothers, James Hendon of Ashville and Lester Hendon and Kenneth Hendon of Talladega; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers were James Smith, Walter Smith Jr., Bobby Ray Edwards, John Daniel Edwards, Tommy Smith and Roger Mattox. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega directed the service.

B.O. STRICKLAND

SYLACAUGA - Funeral service for B.O. Strickland, 91, will be Wednesday, May 18, at 3:30 p.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North chapel with the Rev. Keith Pugh officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Strickland died May 15 at Sylacauga Health & Rehab. He was a member of First Baptist Church, was a member of Coosa Valley Medical Center Auxiliary and served in the U.S. Army. He was a native of Marble Valley and retired from Sylacauga Motor Car Company.

He is survived by son, Jim Strickland of Niceville, Fla.; and grandson, Patrick O'Brien Strickland of Plano, Texas. The family will receive friends Wednesday from noon until 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

MARGARET A. MORRIS

FAYETTEVILLE - Funeral service for Margaret A. Morris, 80, will be Friday, May 20, at 2 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home chapel in Sylacauga with the Rev. Bob Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Fayetteville Methodist Cemetery in Fayetteville. Mrs. Morris died May 16 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. She was a member of Marble City Church of God. She was preceded in death by her son, Norman Benjamin Morris Sr.; granddaughter, Teresa Landers Macon; great-grandson, Marty Embry; four brothers; and two sisters. The family wishes to thank the staff of American Hospice.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Blois B. Morris of Fayetteville; two daughters, Louise Maness and Brenda Landers of Fayetteville; sister, Pearl M. Honeycutt Masters of Birmingham; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chris Maness, Eugene Landers, Chad Maness, Allen Bassett, Shane Macon, Greg Richardson, Benji Morris and Wayne Hay. HARRELL JEAN REAVES

LINCOLN - Funeral service for Harrell Jean Reaves, 60, will be Saturday, May 21, at 10 a.m. at Usrey Funeral Home chapel in Pell City with the Rev. Doug Ford officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Memorial Gardens in Pell City. Mr. Reaves died May 17 at his residence. He was a member of the James D. Truss Masonic Lodge No. 515 in Ragland.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tillman Reaves. He is survived by daughter, Crystal Danielle Reaves McAvoy; three sons, Derick O'dell Reaves, Eddie Gene Reaves and Jimmy Lee Reaves; his mother, Margaret Rita Reaves; two sisters, Patricia Fay Freeman and Dellie Mae Cox; two brothers, Darrell Dean Reaves and Roy Manley Reaves; and seven grandchildren. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

CARSON MATTHEW BREWER

WINSTON SALEM, N.C. - Graveside service for Carson Matthew Brewer, 6 months, will be Sunday, May 22, at 2 p.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Max Buttram officiating. The infant died May 16 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was the fourth born of quintuplets.

He is survived by his parents, Marcus and Cherie Brewer of Winston Salem, N.C.; two sisters, Morgan and Madelyn Brewer of Winston Salem, N.C.; and two brothers, Sean and Benjamin Brewer of Winston Salem, N.C. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Cherie Brewer is the former Cherie Hendrix, and while they lived in Sylacauga, Marcus Brewer was employed at Picklesimer-Limbaugh Motor Company. Both are graduates of Sylacauga High School and were married at First Baptist Church. Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

JAMES RANDY BURDETTE

COLETA VALLEY - Memorial service for James Randy Burdette, 52, will be Saturday, May 21, at 11 a.m. at his residence with the Rev. Thompson Pitts officiating.

Mr. Burdette died May 19 at his residence. He was a native of Talladega County, was a former resident of Winston Salem, N.C., and moved back to Clay County in 1999. He was a veteran of the United States Army and worked as a truck driver for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Tonya Burdette of Talladega; one son, Jamie Ryan Burdette and fiance' Brenda Franklin of Talladega; two sisters, Georgia Lazenby of Longbeach, N.C., and Bonnie Dean of Tuscaloosa; several special nieces and nephews; and brothers of the heart, Ronald Brasher, Scott Smith, Richard Brasher, Wallace Cottingham and Max Latham. Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland will direct the service.

GEORGIA MAE DOBBINS

ANNISTON - Georgia Mae Dobbins, 76, died May 18. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Ervin Funeral Chapel.

HENRIETTA W. MOODY

CHILDERSBURG - Funeral service for Henrietta W. Moody, 79, will be Saturday, May 21, at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Childersburg with Father Frank Young officiating. Burial will be in Greenhill Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Moody died May 19 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas White and was a charter member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Childersburg.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. M.D. Moody of Childersburg; three sons, Marcus D. Moody Jr. and wife Connie of Heber Springs, Ark., Mort W. Moody and wife Linda of Childersburg and Bill Moody and wife Vickie of Childersburg; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Thomas P. White Jr. of Kerns, Texas and Morton S. White of Charleston, S.C. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1-2 p.m. at the church. Curtis and Son Funeral Home Childersburg Chapel will direct the service.

C. DAVID RHOTON

DESTIN, Fla. - Graveside service for C. David Rhoton, 50, formerly of Pell City, will be Friday, May 20, at 2 p.m. in Valley Hill Cemetery with Bill Hereford officiating.

Mr. Rhoton died May 16. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Rhoton. He is survived by son, Brandon Rhoton; fiancee, Rebecca Moore; mother, Joyce Rhoton; sister, Bonnie Young; two nieces, Kristi Young and Kerri Young; nephew, Wes Young; and great-nephew, Carter Young. The family will receive friends Friday from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

CLEOPHUS SHEPARD

PELL CITY - Funeral service for Cleophus Shepard, 55, of 3406 Stemley Bridge Road, will be Saturday, May 21, at 1 p.m. at Rushing Spring Baptist Church with Pastor Clarence Woodard officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Greenfield Church Cemetery.

Mr. Shepard died May 14 at Baptist Medical Center Montclair in Birmingham. He is a Pell City native, a U.S. Army veteran and was employed at Anniston Army Depot.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Shepard; two daughters, Ondria and Crystal Wynn of Pell City; four sons, Larry Moss of Pell City, Clarence Moss of Birmingham and Antoine and Byron Wynn of Pell City; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Shepard and Bonderia Young of Pell City and Audrey Threatt of Maryland; father-in-law, James Wynn of Pell City; and a host of other relatives.

The body may be viewed at the church for one hour before the service. Sims Funeral Service will direct the service.

DR. MARY ELIZABETH

SMALL BRONX, N.Y. - Dr. Mary Elizabeth Small, 60, formerly of Talladega, died May 19 at her residence. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.

ANNISTON - Annie Willis, 90, died May 17. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Ervin Funeral Chapel.

BONNIE JEAN MOORE

TALLADEGA - Funeral service for Bonnie Jean Moore, 66, will be Sunday, May 22, at 2 p.m. at Ironaton Church of Christ with James Rogers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Moore died May 20 at Citizens BMC. She was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega County, was a member of Ironaton Church of Christ and was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Woodie Farrell Moore of Talladega; one daughter, Jeanie Moore of Talladega; and one brother, Earl Guy Buckalew. Deacons of Ironaton Church of Christ will serve as pallbearers. Elders and their wives of Ironaton Church of Christ will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends Saturday at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.
