FLOYD HENRY "TOBE" ATKISSON

MUNFORD — Funeral services for Floyd Henry "Tobe" Atkisson, 82, will be Thursday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. at Usrey Chapel with the Rev. John Whetstone and the Rev. Jeff Rutledge. Burial will be in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Munford. Mr. Atkisson died Tuesday, Oct. 25 at Citizens BMC. He was a native of Clay County but had been a resident of Munford for most of his life. He attended Bemiston Baptist Church; retired employee of Image Yarn Mills; was a longtime employee of Newbury Foundry; Veteran of WWII. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Brian Sarro. He is survived by his wife, Virginia W. Atkisson of Munford; daughters and sons-in-law, Anna and Rodney Keith of Talladega and Susan and Mark Sarro of Munford; sister, Ruby Jewel Hall of Talladega; grandchildren, Jennifer and Riley Keith and Kayla and Samantha Sarro.

Pallbearers will be Bill Wright, Terrell Powers, Billy Atkinson, Jimmy Machen, Ricky Ford, and Robert Earl Ford. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Smith, Hoyt Watts, Bobby Eason, and Dr. Stan Jett. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the services.

RANDY EUGENE GRAVETTE

TALLADEGA — Funeral services for Randy Eugene Gravette, 48, will be Friday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. at the Talladega Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bill Percy officiating. Burial will follow from the Clay County Memory Gardens in Ashland. Mr. Gravette passed away Tuesday, Oct. 25 at his home. He was a native of Clay County, but had lived most of his life in Talladega County. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church; a salesman by trade; a graduate of Talladega High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Bennie Gravette. He is survived by his grandmother, Esley Robinson of Ashland; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 27 from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Cousins will serve as pallbearers. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the services.

CARRIE MITCHELL ASHWORTH

ASHLAND — Graveside services for Mrs. Carrie Mitchell Ashworth, 87, will be Saturday, Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. from the Oak Hill Cemetery in Talladega with the Rev. Jeff Thomas officiating. Mrs. Ashworth passed away Wednesday, Oct. 26 at Clay County Hospital. She was a native of Clay County, but had lived most of his life in Talladega County. She was a retired school teacher with the Talladega County School System with 35 years of service. She was a member of the Ridgeview Baptist Church in Talladega. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn A. Shropshire and husband, Hubert E. Jr. of Talladega; grandchildren, Britt & Julie Shropshire of Talladega; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 28 from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the services.

SYLACAUGA — Pollie Jewell Duncan, 102, died Thursday, Oct. 27 at her residence. Radney-Smith Funeral Home will announce arrangements.

BILLY HAROLD MASHBURN

ASHVILLE — Funeral services for Billy Harold Mashburn, 73, will be Friday, October 28, at 11 a.m. at Bethany Baptist Church with the Rev. Glen Horn officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Mr. Mashburn died Wednesday, October 26 in Ashville. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of Masonic Lodge #186 in Ashville. He was retired from Birmingham Jefferson Transit Authority after 36 years. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, a true farmer, and Bluegrass musician. He was preceeded in death by 2 brothers, Leonard Mashburn and Kenneth Mashburn. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Gortney Mashburn; daughter, Judy Guinn of Panama City Beach, Fl.; sons, Wayne Mashburn, Big Pine Key, Fl., J.C. Mashburn, of Ashville, John Mashburn of Springville, Andrew Mashburn of North Charleston, S.C.; sisters, Rachel Dunlap of Ashville, Bebe Lackey of Cook Springs, Mary Alice Massey, of Argo; 9 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Mashburn, John Mashburn, Andrew Mashburn, Joseph Mashburn, Jason Mashburn, Daniel Mashburn, Wes Guinn. Usrey Funeral Home, Pell City will direct the service.

PELL CITY — Joe McGowan, 70, died Thursday, Oct. 27 at St. Clair Regional Hospital. Sims Funeral Service will announce arrangements.

SYLACAUGA — Ella Patterson, 89, died Thursday, Oct. 27, at Coosa Valley Medical Center. Community Funeral Home will announce arrangements.

LILLIE PEARL GRAYSON ROBERSON

SYLACAUGA — Funeral services for Lillie Pearl Grayson Roberson, 75, will be at on Saturday, October 29 at 2:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie Joe Oden officiating. Burial will be in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Ms Grayson died on October 24 at Brown Nursing Home in Alexander City. She is survived by a son, Larry Grayson of Sylacauga; sisters, Eva McGhee of Alexander City, Elaine Barnes of Sylacauga, Alberta Seals of Chicago, IL., Willie Dark of Sylacauga; brothers, Tommy Grayson of Sylacauga, Charles Gamble of Childersburg, Ezell Grayson of Wetumpka; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be nephews. Flowerbearers will be friends of the family. Visitation will be Friday from 12 noon until 9:00 p.m. at Community Funeral Home. Community Funeral Home will direct the service.

TALLADEGA — Mrs. Linda Pearson Shepher, 45, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, at Baptist Montclair Hospital, Birmingham. Childersburg Mortuary will announce arrangements.

TALLADEGA — Graveside rites for James Brinton Stewart, Sr., 66, were Thursday, October 27 at Midway Memory Gardens, Talladega, with the Rev. Ed Talley officiating. Mr. Stewart died Tuesday, October 25 at Citizens BMC. He was a native of Clay County, lived in Talladega most of his life and was a member of the Baptist faith. He was a carpet layer before retiring. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Stewart of Talladega; daughters, Debora Stewart Morris, Tammy Marie Ogles, and Rebecca Lathem, all of Talladega; sons, James Brinton Stewart, Jr., David Wayne Stewart, Steven Lee Stewart, and Tommy Glenn Stewart, all of Talladega; 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; sisters, Gay Lamon of Arab, Ala., Nancy Gurley, Belva Smith, and Lou Ann Pruitt, all of Talladega; brothers, Bobby Joe Stewart of Talladega and Billy Hugh Stewart of Ashland.

Pallbearers will be Benny Ogles, Deke Morris, Benny Ogles, Jr., Kevin Stewart, Ronnie Gober, Lee Gurley, Russell Gurley, Jason Hughston, Rodney Gurley and Kenny Horn. Usrey Funeral Home, Talladega, directed the service.

LUCILLE BARCLAY SWAIN

OXFORD — Funeral services for Lucille Barclay Swain, 72, will be Saturday, October 29, 1 p.m. at Rocky Mount Baptist Church in Oxford with the Rev. Ervin Barclay officiating. The body will be at church 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Ironation. Mrs. Swain died Saturday, October 22 at Beverly Health Care in Oxford. She was a Talladega native and a member of the Rocky Mount Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Leamon Swain Jr., two sisters, Mrs Ruth Wilson, Anjarok Johnson, three brothers, Rufus Barclay, Andrew Barclay and Lune Barclay. She is survived by son, Lee Swain of Jacksonville, Ala.; sisters, Emma (Ronnie) Gaston, Annie Laura (John) Kidd both of Talladega; brother Lindsey (Madelene) Barclay of Talladega and 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family. Anniston Funeral Services will direct the service.

JESSIE JAMES WILKERSON

PELL CITY — Services for Jessie James (J.J.) Wilkerson, 66, will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Pastor W.L. Martin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Mr. Wilkerson died Monday, Oct. 24, at St. Clair Regional Hospital. He is survived by wife, Beulah Wilkerson; daughters, Belinda McGraw of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Nancy Lowe of Montgomery, Brigitte Wilkerson, and Sarah Evans Parker both of Pell City; a son, Rodney Ray Wilkerson of Montgomery; a sister, Francis W. Thomas of Decatur, GA; a aunt, Beulah Posey of Gadsden; 10 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; mother-in-law, Johnnie Mae Evans of Pell City; six sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law and a host of other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Carter, W.D. Evans, Andrew Moten, Douglas Posey, Thomas Posey and Tommy Wilkerson. Sims Funeral Service will direct the service.

FT. MYERS, FL — Funeral services for Judy Ann Barnett, 62, formerly of Talladega, will be Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 12 noon from the Talladega Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ottis Graves and the Rev. Larry Haywood officiating. Burial will follow from the Mid-Way Memory Gardens. Mrs. Barnett passed away Sunday, Nov. 20, at Lee Memorial Hospital in Ft. Myers. She was a native of Georgia, but had lived most of her life in Talladega County. She had been a resident of Ft. Myers, FL. for the past 15 years. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Simpson; her mother, Jewelean Lewis; and sister, Millie Hayes. She is survived by her husband, Roland Barnett of Ft. Myers, FL.; daughter, Kaye Jackson of Leeds; sons, Ricky Simpson and Kevin Simpson both of Talladega; sisters, Donna Robinson of Talladega, Billie Mae Hammett of Texas, and Betty Faye Cowan of Gulf Shores; brothers, Ronnie Lewis of Talladega and Carl Meadows Jr. of Birmingham; her father, Carl Meadows of Waycross, GA.; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 22, from 6-9 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hammett, Hiram Barnett, Roger Hayes, Kenneth Centry, Louie Pettis, and Glen Bishop. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the services.

LINCOLN — Funeral service for Jerry W. Davis, 55, was Monday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. at Usrey Chapel with the Rev. Randy Howell officiating. Burial followed in Lincoln Cemetery. Mr. Davis died Sunday, Nov. 20, at Citizens BMC. He is survived by his wife, Wendy Davis; daughters, Teresa Davis of Fort Payne and Beth Forshee of Moody; grandchildren, Daniel, Dylan, and Karlie; mother, Polly Davis of Rainsville; sisters, Sandra Wright (Gene) and Carolyn Fossett (Jerry) all of Rainsville; three sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Barry Gauldin, Joey Blackman, Garry Chandler, Dale Patton, Jimmy Victory, Scotty Poss, and Phillip Richardson. Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City directed the service.

LINCOLN — Funeral services for Harold Ezell, 76, will be Tuesday, Nov. 22, at 2 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Oxford Memorial Gardens. Mr. Ezell died Saturday, Nov. 19, at NHC. He was a resident of the area most of his life, working for the Tennessee Valley Authority. A Marine Veteran of the Korean Conflict. A member of the Betta View Hills Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his children, Susan Ezell Crook, Steven Scott Ezell, and Jonathan Ezell; his mother, Clara Brown, his father, Lebby Ezell; brother, Charles Brown; sisters, Hazel Phillips and Shirley Snow; and grandson, Andy Baker. He is survived by his daughter, Janice Ezell Hammond and her husband Keith of Eastaboga; sister, Helen Doss; brother, Ralph Ezell; grandchildren, Kim Gay, Ginger Herren, Robin Adams, and Tonya Baker; great grandchildren, Carley Herren, Cole Herren, Blaise Adams, Savanna Baker and Mekenzie Frain; his best friend, Tommy Phillips; and his loyal companion, Scooter.

Burial will be in Greenhill Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Hamm died Monday, Nov. 21, at Coosa Valley Medical Center. She was of the Baptist faith; and a nursing assistant at Sylacauga Hospital for 15 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Joe Hamm; grandchild, Carey Waldrop; and brother, James E. Byrd. She is survived by son, Michael Joseph Hamm and wife Judith of Childersburg; daughters, Kim McCoy, Kelly DeMoss and husband Jim all of Sylacauga; sister, Patricia F. Shierling of Alpine; 10 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 22, from 5-8 p.m.

Pallbearers will be David DeMoss, Jim DeMoss, Daniel Lewis, Ricky Shierling, Keith Goins, and Tommy Shierling. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Clark and Glenn Byrd. Curtis and Son Funeral Home Childersburg Chapel will direct the services.

FRANCES TODD HORTON

SYLACAUGA — Funeral services for Frances Todd Horton, 79, will be Wednesday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel with the Rev. Danny Courson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Horton died Monday, Nov. 21, at Coosa Valley Medical Center. She was originally from Sylacauga but lived most of her life in Pensacola, FL. She graduated from B. B. Comer; was a fashion model for Avondale Mills; and was owner of LeRome Fashions in Pensacola, FL. She is survived by her husband, Leon Horton of Sylacauga; son, Todd Keith Horton of San Francisco, CA.; sisters, Hazel Thrash of Pensacola, FL. and Ruth Masters of Huntsville. Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the services.

SYLACAUGA — Regina McMillian, 45, died Saturday, Nov. 19, at her residence. Childersburg Mortuary will announce arrangements.

TALLADEGA — John Junior Millender, 44, died Saturday, Nov. 19, at Citizens Baptist Medical Center. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will announce arrangements.

LOUODINE REDWINE MURPHY

TALLADEGA — Louodine Redwine Murphy, 82, formerly of Newnan and Atlanta, Georgia, died Nov. 20, 2005. She was born in Coweta County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Dawson Campbell and Dr. Robert Word Redwine. Mrs. Murphy for many years, was employed by the March of Dimes, organizing the annual Mothers' March in the greater metropolitan Atlanta area. She retired from The Georgia Institute of Technology in 1983. While a resident of the north Atlanta area, she was an active member of Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church. After moving to Newnan, Georgia, she, again, took an active role as a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. At the time of her death, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Talladega. She is survived by her husband, Hugh Carnes Murphy; one son, Leigh Murphy and his wife Georgeanna of Talladega; one grandson, Michael Murphy and his wife Holly of Talladega; one great granddaughter, Ashlie Murphy of Talladega; one brother, Earl M. Redwine and his wife Grace of Lawrenceville, Georgia; one sister, Elizabeth R. Fowler of Scottsboro; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Graveside service will be Tuesday, Nov. 22, at 2 p.m. at the Redwine Family Cemetery in Madras, Georgia. The the Rev. John Riley and the Rev. Searcy Jackson will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Macedonia Baptist Church Building Fund, 1504 Macedonia Road, Newnan, Ga.30263. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mckoon.com. McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, Newnan, Georgia, will direct the service.
