SAM WILLIE (DUNER) AVERIETTE JR.
NEW YORK, N.Y. — Funeral services for Sam Willie Averiette Jr., 56, will be Saturday, Feb. 11, at 1 p.m. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby L. Harris officiating. Burial will be in Sylacauga Cemetery. Mr. Averiette died Friday, February 3, in New York, New York. He was one of the first four African-Americans to attend Sylacauga High School. He was a 1967 graduate of Sylacauga High School. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Talladega College in 1971. He received his masters of science degree from Columbia University. Mr. Averiette also received his doctorate from Harvard University. He leaves to cherish his memories one sister, Shirley Buie of Birmingham; two brothers, Houston Averiette of Houston, TX, and James Averiette of Birmingham; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 10, from 3-8 p.m. at Community Funeral Home.

Pallbearers and flowerbearers will be family and friends. Community Funeral Home will direct the services.

TALLADEGA — George Beavers, 52, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, at Citizens Baptist Medical Center. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will announce arrangements.

HARPERSVILLE — Johnnie M. Davis, 77, died Thursday, Feb. 9, at Coosa Valley Health Care. Madden's Funeral Chapel will announce arrangements.

PELL CITY — Memorial service for Stephen Ervil Freeman, 50, will be Feb. 10, at 1 p.m. at Kilgroe Chapel. Mr. Freeman died Feb. 6, 2006. He is survived by his wife, Konnye Freeman; son, Neal Freeman; mother, Lois Freeman; sisters, Brenda Carlson and Reeta Norred; brothers, Stan Freeman and John Freeman; and grandchild, Alyssa Freeman. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct.

JACIA TAMEA SHANISH FULLER

SYLACAUGA — Funeral services for Jacia Tamea Shanish Fuller, 10 months, will be Saturday, Feb. 11, at 3 p.m. at Settlement Road Church of Christ with Brother Andrew Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Settlement Road Church of Christ Cemetery. The infant died Monday, Feb. 6, at Coosa Valley Medical Center. She is survived by her mother, Takesha Morris of Sylacauga; father, George Fuller of Goodwater; grandmothers, Nina Morris of Sylacauga and Mary Jones of Goodwater; grandfathers, Kenneth Jerome Cannon of Sylacauga, George Fuller Sr. of Goodwater, and Horace Jones of Goodwater; brothers, Jaylen Morris of Sylacauga; sisters, Jalia Norwood of Sylacauga; great grandmothers, Geraldine Morris, Willodean Borden both of Sylacauga, and Annie Pearl Smith of Goodwater; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 10, from 12-8 p.m. at Community Funeral Home. Flowerbearers will be friends and family.

Pallbearers will be Atori Morris, Jermaine Morris, Andrew Thomas Jr., Lamarinez Cannon, and Timothy Curry. Community Funeral Home will direct the services.

NORMAN KELLER JR.

VINCENT — Funeral services for Norman Keller Jr., 77, will be Saturday, Feb. 11, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in Calcis with Elder W. E. Frazier officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. He is survived by four sons, Clarence Keller, Lenell Keller, Terry Keller, and Kutntine Keller; one daughter, Minister Thelma Keller; four sisters, Stella Hardy, Angie Keller, Virginia Davis, and Sarah Gordon; seven brothers, James Keller, John Henry Keller, Bobby Keller, Benjamin Keller, Anthony Keller, Herman Keller, and Tessie Keller; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives. Sims Funeral Service will direct.

EUFAULA — Funeral services for Willie Pearl Knox, 94, will be Feb. 18, at Mt. Zion Christian Methodist Church in Alpine at 12 p.m. James White Funeral Home will direct.

ANN Carter HINES LAWLEY

GOODWATER — Funeral service for Ann Carter Hines Lawley, 77, will be Friday, Feb. 10, at 2:30 p.m. at Goodwater Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Cowhick and the Rev. Billy Hardman officiating. She will lie in state for one hour at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Greenview Cemetery. Mrs. Lawley passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Russell Medical Center. She was born on Oct. 14, 1928, in Sylacauga to James Roy Hines and Mildred Malissa Carter Hines. She worked as a homemaker and also was a substitute teacher in Goodwater. She was a member of Goodwater Baptist Church, where she was active in WMU, GA's, and Acteen. She was a Vacation Bible School director, Sunday School teacher, discipleship training teacher, and also sang in the choir. She was instrumental in raising money for Goodwater Library, where she served on the board. Mrs. Lawley graduated from Huntsville High School, later attended Auburn University and graduated from the University of Montevallo with a degree in English. She loved the beach, her grandchildren, brothers, and sisters, and was an avid reader and Auburn fan. She was an excellent cook. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack D. Lawley Sr.; and sisters, Zona Hines Parrish and Gwenda Hines Tickle. She is survived by her daughters, Lynn L. Hayes and husband Todd of Alexander City, LuAnn L. Lister and husband Frank of Clanton, LuCile L. Gibson and husband Bubba of Trussville; son, Jack D. Lawley Jr. and wife Deborah of Trussville; grandchildren, Jack Dunn Lawley III, Benjamin Hines Lawley, Joe Neil Gibson III, Tyler Burnham Gibson, Charles Todd Hayes III, Carter Thaxton Hayes, Vera Anjeanette Lister, and Esther Amanda Lister; great granddaughter, Jessica Elizabeth Lawley; twin brother, James Roy Hines Jr.; sister, Jean Hines Green; and a host of nieces and nephews. RUTH MCDOWELL MCDONALD

GADSDEN — Funeral services for Ruth McDowell McDonald, 80, will be Saturday, Feb. 11, at 1 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel with the Rev. John Mann and the Rev. Rudy Tidwell officiating. Burial will be in Sears Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. McDonald died Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Riverview Regional Hospital. Ruth was a member of Rockford United Methodist Church. She was born in Jackson Gap. She graduated from Childersburg High School and attended college at Montevallo. She taught at Rockford Elementary School and served as a Coosa County the Revenue Clerk and volunteer Deputy. She later worked as a teller at the City Bank of Rockford and as an ALFA Insurance Agent. She became Resident Manager at Rockwood Apartments and afterwards, at Stonegate Apartments. She also lived in Heflin, Sylacauga, Decatur, and Gadsden. She was a homemaker and served the community in such ways as school room mother, team mother, scouting volunteer, and church youth director. She is survived by a son, George Warren McDonald Jr. and wife Amy of Albertville; a daughter, Kathy Long and husband Billy of Loxley; and grandchildren, Mark, Anna, and James McDonald. Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 11, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Family and friends may send flowers or may send a donation to the Cemetery Fund at the following address: Sears Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Ruth Teal, Route 2 Box 114-A1, Rockford, AL 35136.

GADSDEN — Jimmy L. Taylor, 72, formerly of Talladega, died Feb. 9, at Gadsden Regional Medical Center. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will announce arrangements.

CLARENCE E. YOUNG JR.

CHILDERSBURG — Funeral services for Clarence E. Young Jr., 50, will be Saturday, Feb. 11, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church with the Rev. Richard Shaw officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion C.M.E. Cemetery. Mr. Young died Sunday, Feb. 5, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Mr. Young was a 1973 graduate of Childersburg High School and a 1977 graduate of Talladega College. He served in the United States Army. He is survived by two brothers, Curtis Seals and Lawrence Young both of Childersburg; one sister, Verleane Matthews of Childersburg. Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 10, from 12-8 p.m. at Community Funeral Home.

Pallbearers and flowerbearers will be friends of the family. Community Funeral Home will direct the services.

PELL CITY — Funeral services for Raymond Allen Sr., 80, will be Sunday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. at Pell City Civic Center with District Elder Raymond Allen Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Rocky Zion Cemetery. Mr. Allen died Wednesday, Feb. 8, at his residence. He was a member of Rocky Zion Baptist Church; was a former employee of Avondale Mills, Village at Cook Springs, and retired from the John Sawyer Dental Office. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Moss (Adams) Allen of Pell City; sons, Raymond Junior Allen of Birmingham, Raymond Allen, Billy Ray Allen, Waverly Allen, Robert Allen, all of Pell City, Benny Allen of Calera, and Johnny Ray Allen of Eastaboga; daughters, Lois McCowan, Lorene Bedford, both of Pell City, Yolanda Cobb of Columbus, GA, Janis Scott of Pell City, Carolyn Allen of Anniston, Wanda Shephard of Pell City, Chanda Lee of Talladega, Felicia Robinson, Ruth Curtis, both of Birmingham, and Monica Allen of Pell City; sisters, Mary (Allen) White and Gracie (Allen) King; 28 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 11, from 7-8 p.m. at Rocky Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

ROCKFORD — Martha Lee Creamer, 67, died Monday, Feb. 6, at her residence. She is survived by her husband, Donald Creamer of Rockford; daughters, Denise Clark of Montevallo, Laura Elliott of Rockford, and Christina Creamer of South Roxana, IL; sons, James Elliott of Alton, IL, and Donald Creamer Jr. of St. Louis, MO; sister, Doris Duich of Wood River, IL; eight grandchildren; and one grandchild. PELL CITY — Graveside service for C.E. Hamilton, 78, will be Saturday, Feb. 11, at 2 p.m. at Valley Hill Cemetery. Mr. Hamilton died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006. He was a WWII and Korean Navy Veteran. He is survived by his daughter, Lynda Shrove; and two granddaughters, Kimberly Ramsey and Pamela D. Ramsey.

VIVIAN COLEMAN HARDEN

PELL CITY — Funeral services for Vivian Coleman Harden, 87, will be Monday, Feb. 13, at 2 p.m. at Kilgroe Chapel with the Rev. John Thweatt officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hills in Birmingham. Ms. Harden died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006. She was a registered nurse for 37 years at UAB Hospital; a member of First Baptist Church in Pell City. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ernest Coleman, Ike Coleman, and Buster Coleman; and one sister, Doris Richards. She is survived by two daughters, Martha Harden and Kay (David) Stroud; granddaughter, Ashley Roberts; grandson, Jake Harden; great grandson, Ashton Roberts; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 12, from 6-8 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the services.

GIRDIE "G.C." CLEVE NUNN

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Girdie "G.C." Cleve Nunn, 89, will be Sunday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. at Usrey Chapel with the Rev. Chet Roden and the Rev. David Carpenter officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Nunn died Friday, Feb. 10, at Citizens BMC. He was a native of Clay County and was a resident of Talladega County most of his life; a member of Southside Baptist Church; retired Bemis Co. Inc.; avid farmer and Gardner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Polly Nunn. He is survived by his wife, Veula Horn Nunn of Talladega; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Linda Nunn of Talladega; step daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Lowell Kirk of Madisonville, TN, and Pam and David Carpenter of Athens; step sons and daughters-in-law, Lewey and Gayle Horn of Linden, and Randy and Sue Horn of Talladega; brother and sister-in-law, Owen and Nancy Nunn of Prattville; 19 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 11, from 6-8 p.m. at Usrey. Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to Southside Baptist Church Building Fund.
