RAYMOND ALLEN SR.

PELL CITY — Funeral services for Raymond Allen Sr., 80, were Sunday, Feb. 12, at 2 p.m. at Pell City Civic Center with District Elder Raymond Allen Jr. officiating. Burial was in Rocky Zion Cemetery.

Mr. Allen died Wednesday, Feb. 8, at his residence. He was a member of Rocky Zion Baptist Church; was a former employee of Avondale Mills, Village at Cook Springs, and retired from the John Sawyer Dental Office.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Allen; and children, Jonell Allen and Casandra Allen O'Neal. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Moss Allen of Pell City; sons, Raymond Junior Allen of Pell City, Raymond Allen, Billy Ray Allen, Waverly Allen, Robert Allen, all of Pell City, Benny Allen of Calera, and Johnny Ray Allen of Eastaboga; daughters, Lois McCowan, Lorene Bedford, both of Pell City, Yolanda Cobb of Columbus, Ga., Janis Scott of Pell City, Carolyn Allen of Anniston, Wanda Shephard of Pell City, Chanda Lee of Talladega, Felicia Robinson, Ruth Curtis, both of Birmingham, and Monica Allen of Pell City; sisters, Mary (Allen) White and Gracie (Allen) King; 28 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

Visitation was Saturday, Feb. 11, from 7-8 p.m. at Rocky Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

Pallbearers were Robert Allen, Billy R. Allen, Waverly L. Allen, Benny A. Allen, Johnny R. Allen, Monteal Allen, and Aaron L. Scott. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary directed the services.

TIMOTHY WAYNE CARDWELL

SYLACAUGA — Funeral services for Timothy Wayne Cardwell, 46, will be Saturday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel with the Rev. Todd Reaves officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Cardwell died Thursday, Feb. 16, at Montclair BMC. He graduated from B.B. Comer High School class of 1977; Veteran of the U.S. Navy; and a member of Mignon Baptist Church.

He is survived by his parents, Mickey and Shirley Cardwell of Sylacauga; brothers, Stan Cardwell of Jacksons Gap, Jim Cardwell and wife Libby of Sylacauga, Paul Cardwell and wife Janice of Sylacauga, and Jon Cardwell and wife Jennifer of Fairhope; sister, Becky Pugh and husband Ken of Birmingham; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 18, from 10-11 a.m. The family will accept flowers or donations can be made to Mignon Baptist Church. Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the services.

HARRIE WILSON DIGGS

LINCOLN — Harrie Wilson Diggs, 81, passed away on Feb. 16, 2006. She was born in Coldwater in 1924.

She was preceded in death by her husband William E. Diggs. She is survived by her daughter, Drue Diggs Gravlee of Birmingham; grandchildren, Macon and Nikki Gravlee of Birmingham, Will and Ashleigh Gravlee of Dallas, Texas; great grandchildren, Nicholas Gravlee and Kara Gravlee, Birmingham; She is also survived by her sisters, Frances Anderson of Gainsville, Fla. and Ann Taylor of Lincoln; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Lincoln United Methodist Church in Lincoln. Leslie Mathison will give the eulogy. Gray Brown-Service Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

CHARLES ROSS "BUDDY" HAND

MUNFORD — Funeral service for Charles Ross "Buddy" Hand, 76, will be Sunday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m. at Usrey Chapel with the Rev. Charlie Bolt officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Hand died Thursday, Feb. 16, at Citizens BMC. He was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega County; attended Cherry Street Church of God; retired from CSX; member of Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Jimmy Knight.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Hand of Stockdale; one brother, Tommy Hand and wife Shelby of Talladega; one sister, Peggy Dobbs of Wintergarden, Fla.; one brother-in-law, James W. Knight and wife Bernice of Childersburg; one great niece, Gina Dupree of Childersburg; and one great nephew, Jimmy Knight of Childersburg. Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 18, from 6-8 p.m. at Usrey.

Pallbearers will be Mike Watts, Willie Duke, Larry Lashley, Donald Hurst, Jimmy Knight, Milton Cochran. Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Flowers, Dr. Jimmy Davis, Becky Davis, Ira Hammond, and McDonald's Breakfast Gang. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the service.

MINNIE VEARA WILLIAMS "BILLY" KEITH

ALPINE — Funeral services for Minnie Veara Williams "Billy" Keith, 89, will be Sunday, Feb. 19, at 2:30 p.m. at Kingston Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Bernard Lawson and the Rev. Harold Lawson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Keith died Monday, Feb. 13, at her residence. She was a member of Kingston Missionary Baptist Church; was a member of Laurel Chapter #108 of Order Eastern Stars, Cheerful Givers Society and American Union Relief Society.

She is survived by granddaughter, Cynthia Swain of Alpine; grandsons, Benjamin Lawson and Jerry Lawson both of Alpine, Harold Lawson of Montgomery, and Frank Lawson Jr. of Tuscaloosa; 13 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. The body will be placed at the church one hour prior to the service. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the services.

SILVER RUN COMMUNITY — Laura Massengale, 77, died Friday, Feb. 17, at her residence. Ervin Funeral Chapel will announce arrangements.

MARION MILLER McCASKILL

TUPELO — Marion Miller McCaskill, 81, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. A Huntsville native, she was born Sept. 1, 1924, to the late Ed Payne and Mildred Frye Chapman Miller. A 1945 graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in education, she taught ninth grade algebra in Corinth and Blytheville, AR. and also at Milam and Carver Schools in Tupelo, until her retirement from teaching in 1980. She later became the administrative assistant for the Shepherd's Center since its inception.

She was currently serving as president of the PEO in Tupelo and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and a former member of the Pilot Club. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder on the Session. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006 at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ann Houston Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include her daughter, Millie Chastain and husband, Joe of Talladega, AL; and two sisters, Mildred Harper and Peggy Countess both of Decatur, Ala. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 32 years, Dan McCaskill, who passed away March 3, 1980.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, Allyn Crane, Stuart Countess, Steven Harper, Scott Walsh, Buddy Stubbs, Jim Benson, Bill Caroll, and Ron Richardson. Honorary pallbearers will be the Session of First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

BESSIE IRENE OGLESBY

MUNFORD — Funeral service for Bessie Irene Oglesby, 93, will be Sunday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m. at Munford Church of Christ with Jeff Clark and Cliff Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Oglesby died Friday, Feb. 17, at TLC. She was a native of Cleburne County but had been a resident of Talladega County most of her life. She was a member of Munford Church of Christ; former owner and operator of Oglesby Grocery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Oglesby; parents, C.M. and Vera Robinson; brothers, Roy Robinson, Aubrey Robinson, Guy Robinson, and Preston Robinson; and one grandson, Johnaton. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Gwen O. and husband C.J. Johnson of Talladega; four sons, Ronnie Oglesby and wife Barbara of Munford, Dwight Oglesby and wife Sandy of Phoenix, Az., Travis Oglesby and wife Bonnie of Munford, Mike Oglesby and wife Joyce of Talladega; one sister, Grace Hendrix of Sylacauga; two brothers, Cecil Robinson of Orlando, Fla., and Lonnie Robinson of Talladega; 21 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 18, from 6-8 p.m. at Usrey.

Pallbearers will be Billy Oglesby, Brad Oglesby, Keith Oglesby, Johnny Marler, Joe Marler, and Lance Duncan. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Southern Care Hospice, Tina Headrick, Ruby Owings, Maria Hudson, George Bradford, Keisha Moon, and Freddy Edwards, TLC special care givers, Cathy Atchison, Julie Smith, Linda Tyson, Sherry Hughston, Peggy Lovett, and Cebo Lovett. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the service.

SHEILA STORY

TALLADEGA — Sheila Story, 51, died Friday, Feb. 17, at Citizens BMC. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will announce arrangements.

JAMES "CLINT" TURNER

RIVERDALE — James "Clint" Turner, 62, passed away Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006. A memorial service will be at on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m. at the Horis A. Ward Tara Chapel in Jonesboro with the Pastor Carter Bearden officiating. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, please contact a family member for memorial donations. Mr. Turner was born in Webster Parish, Louisiana in 1943 to James and Mary Turner.

He graduated from the Alabama School for the Deaf in 1965 and was an Eagle Scout. He worked in the printing industry and was a member of the International Typesetters Union, also, a member of the G.A.D. (Georgia Association of the Deaf), the G.A.D.S.C. (Georgia Association of Deaf Senior Citizens).

He is survived by his loving wife, Alice Turner; son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Christine Turner; grandchildren, Miles Turner, Taylor Turner, and Emma Turner, all of Riverdale; mother, Lois Turner of Morris, Ala.; sister, Jeannine and James Grice of Sylacauga; brother, Johnny and Cindy Turner of Alex City; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. CHARLES THOMAS WILLIAMSON

WEOGUFKA — Funeral services for Charles Thomas Williamson, 71, will be Sunday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m. at Valley View Church of God with the Rev. Keith Owensby and the Rev. Tommy Thornton officiating. Burial will be in the Old Weogufka First Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Williamson died Thursday, Feb. 16, at his residence. He was retired from Kimberly Clark Corp.; attended Valley View Church of God; native of Chilton County; and served in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Icy Lewis Crumbley and his dad, Guy Williamson. He is survived by his wife, Jean Dolores Williamson of Weogufka; daughter, Brenda Gail and husband Tracey Robinson of Sylacauga; sister, Mary Ellen and husband Wendell Rayfield of Weogufka; and grandchildren, Nick, Kayla, and Morgan Cleveland of Sylacauga. Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 18, from 5-9 p.m. at the North Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Blois Payton, Berney Wesson, Dois Armstrong, John Hardin, Mac Pittman, Jimmy Holmes, and Bobby Ezekiel. Curtis and Son North Chapel will direct the services.
