LINCOLN — Graveside Rites for Henri Anatole Huble, 73, will be Thursday, March 23, at 2 p.m. at Pine Hill Memorial Park with the Rev. Tommy Strickland officiating. Mr. Huble died Monday, March 20, at his residence. He was a native of Campus, Illinois. A resident of Lincoln since 1994; was of the Methodist faith; a Veteran of Korean War; a retired machinists. He was preceded in death by one son, Henri A. Huble Jr. He is survived by one daughter, Donna Zomick and husband Patrick of Dowerns Grove, IL; two step-sons, Bruce Ramey and wife Billie of Talladega and Larry Ramey of San Diego, CA; two sisters, Sandy Fortune of Alabama and Charlotte Furbee of Virginia; seven grandchildren, Tammy Fomby and Bruce Ramey Jr. both of Alabama; Diana Janusz, Patrick Zomick Jr., Toshia Huble, Brittany Huble, and Amanda Huble all of Illinois; nine great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Zachery, Tyler, Ashley, Baylee, Carayn, Victoria, Eddie and Jacob. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 22, from 6-8 p.m. at Usrey. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the service.

JOSEPHINE MCCOY

PELL CITY — Mrs. Josephine McCoy was born to the late Mr. Leamon Harris and Cora Harris on September 24, 1922, in Pell City. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined Rocky Zion Baptist Church in Pell City where she remained a faithful member until she became ill. Mrs. Josephine McCoy was united in Holy Matrimony to Bloise McCoy until his death. Mrs. McCoy departed her life on March 19, 2006, at St. Clair Regional Hospital in Pell City. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Vanessa McCoy. She was preceded in death by one brother, Nathan Harris; and one sister, Bertie Young both of Pell City. She leaves to cherish her memories: four sons, Harry (Linda) McCoy of Pell City, Wayne (Barbara) McCoy of Bessemer, Efferm (Kimberly) McCoy and Randall (Conswella) McCoy both of Pell City; four daughters, Joann (Nathaniel) Burch of Pennsylvania, Orvelina Jordan, Maggie Daniels and Brenda McCoy, all of Pell City; 30 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren; nine sisters, and three brothers-in-law, Annie Singleton, Fannie (Lesley) Forman, both of Pell City, Dora Harris of Odenville, Flora Mae Williams, Ruby McClain, Virginia (Earl) Green and Peggy Moore all of Cincinnati, Birnell Woods of Detroit, Michigan, and Emma (Harry) Howard of Pennsylvania; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She also leaves to cherish three close friends of the family, Leonard Ray Seals, Rosie Lee "Sue" Fluellen and Georgia Mitchell. Visitation will be Friday, March 24, from 6-9 p.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home. Services will be Saturday, March 25, at 2 p.m. at Rocky Zion Baptist Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the services.

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Louise Haynes Moseley, 90, will be Thursday, March 23, at 2 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with the Rev. Bill Brown officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Moseley died Monday, March 20, at her residence. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph C. Moseley. She is survived by a son, Ralph C. Moseley Jr. of Pelham; sister, Dot Brown of Sylacauga; brother, Bill Haynes of Atlanta; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. CARROLLTON, GA — Graveside service for Claudeen M. Poe, 79, was March 22, at 2 p.m. at Ragland Methodist Cemetery. Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City directed the service.

KATHRYN ODELLE PEOPLES SHURETTE

GARLAND, TX — 86 years of age. Kathryn Odelle Peoples Shurette resided in Garland, Texas. Forty year resident of Birmingham Center Point, Alabama. Born December 24, 1919 in Goodwater, Alabama. Joined her Lord and Savior March 18, 2006. Today she is rejoicing in Heaven with the Saints. Kathryn was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Kathryn Odelle touched many lives with her unique personality, including her Southern demeanor of dress, her wonderful preparation of delicious recipes, canning sumptuous jelly, jams, preserves, pickles, her talent soared of original homemade cakes and pies, her famous homemade biscuits and touch of uniqueness with antiques and her floral arrangements. Member of the Parkdale United Methodist Church for 60 years. Kathryn Odelle is preceded in death by her beloved, darling husband of 50 years, (Ben) Henry Burton Shurette, 11-28-1987; parents Ted and Lizzie Peoples; parents-in-law, Neal and Nettie Shurette; sisters, Eunice Marie Peoples and Ruthie Pauline Thornton; brother-in-law, Robert Thornton; brother, J.C. Peoples; son-in-law, Jerry F. Wickersham; daughter-in-law, Venice Ford Shurette. Kathryn is survived by her four children, Mary Ann Wickersham of Garland, Texas, Margaret Miller of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Bobby and Gloria Shurette of Marietta, Georgia, Johnny and Dianne Shurette of Griffin, Georgia; seven grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, sixteen great step-grandchildren; sister-in-law Dorothy Royal Peoples, nieces, host of cousins and friends. Thanks to Vista Care Hospice for their love and care and Kumari Abraham. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 23, 2006 at Radney’s Funeral Home Alexander City, Alabama led by son, Johnny R. BIRMINGHAM — Funeral service for the Rev. Verlon O. Agan, 82, formerly of Pell City, will be Wednesday, March 29, at 1 p.m. at Agan Tabernacle of the Bible Methodist Camp with the Rev. Daniel Stetler, the Rev. Walter Hedstrom, and the Rev. Randall Crotts officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Memorial Gardens. the Rev. Agan died Saturday, March 25, in Birmingham. He was conference president of the Alabama Conference of the Bible Methodist Connection of Churches for 32 years. He worked with various mission organizations and traveled broadly in mission evangelism. His 60 years of ministry were marked by serving others. His love for people made the high or the lowly feel special in his presence. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ruby Agan. He is survived by three children, Verlon O. Agan Jr. of Clearwater, FL, Janaan Miller of Pell City, and Regina Stetler of Burlington, KY; sister, Clarice Parrot of Ocala, FL; nine grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 28, from 6-9 p.m. at Agan Tabernacle. Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

MARY LUCILLE JACKS FORD

OXFORD — Funeral service for Mary Lucille Jacks Ford, 79, will be Wednesday, March 29, at 1 p.m. at Jenifer Baptist Church. Burial will be in Bethlehem Methodist Cemetery. Mrs. Ford died Sunday, March 26, at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega County; a member of Jenifer Baptist Church for 51 years where she attended the Ladies Sunday School class and Ladies prayer circle. She worked at the G.E. Plant in Oxford and retired from the Anniston Army Depot. She was loved and cherished by all who met her and our lives were better for her. She will be greatly missed, but has now gone to be with her husband. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and loved her church and family dearly. She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Ford Cornell and husband Don of Oxford; two sons, Robert E. Ford and wife Janis and Ricky Ford and wife Jonnie Sue, all of Munford; grandchildren, Robin Ford Bush and husband Anthony of Clanton, Jeri Bell of Munford, Amy Bell Helms and husband Mike, Destry Ford, all of Oxford, Wesley Ford and wife Flora, Stefanie Ford Fowler and husband David, Michael Bell and wife Carrie, all of Munford; great grandchildren, Starlit Holmes, Kristi Holmes, Jaici Bush, Logan Bell, Landon Ashworth, Savannah Helms, Garrett Helms, Lance Ford, Alisha Ford, Micaela Fowler, Alayne Fowler, Olivia Bell, and Ethan Bell. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 28, from 6-8 p.m. at Usrey. Donations may be made to the Jenifer Baptist Church Building Fund, 2601 Priebes Mills Road, Oxford, AL 36203.

Pallbearers will be Billy Johnson, Billy Wright, Jerry Bell, Ricky Sellers, Jimmy Matchen, Jimmy Butterworth. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Jenifer Baptist Church, Will Gentry, Bob Strickland, and R.C. Brasher. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the service.

LETTIE TWINKLE SWEATT

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Lettie Twinkle Sweatt, 61, was Sunday, March 26, at 1 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel with the Rev. Don Grice officiating. Burial was in Munford Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Sweatt died Thursday, March 23, at Coosa Valley Medical Center. She was retired from Russell Mills. She is survived by two sons, Wayne Johnson of Eastaboga and Paul Johnson of Goodwater; daughter, Esta May (Sissy) Horton of Sylacauga; two brothers, Jay Lynthlin and Roger Lynthlin, both of Cleveland, Va.; two half sisters, Emma Mildred Colley of Virginia and Shirley Lynthlin of Virginia; six grandchildren, Stephen Johnson, Steven Johnson, Nicholas Lewis, Daniel P. Johnson, Marissa N. Johnson and Aron Johnson. Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel directed the service.

MARY SHIRLEY WAGONER

SYLACAUGA — Mary Shirley Wagoner, 92 years old, of Sylacauga for the past seven years and formerly of Clanton, Ala. died Friday, March 24, 2006, in Sylacauga. She was born in Coosa County, Ala. daughter of the late William Benton Rush and the late Jennie Ware Rush. She was retired as a Senior Aid for the Program on Aging. Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Mary Jo (Billy G.) Cooper of Sylacauga; daughter, Mrs. Virginia Lougnot of North Syracuse, NY; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester T. (Red) Wagoner. Friends will be received Tuesday, March 28, from 4-7 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at Martin Chapel Wednesday, March 29, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jay Hurd officiating.

Pallbearers are: Billy Joe Cooper, Bobby Cooper, Scott Phurrough, B.J. Cooper, George Lougnot. Honorary pallbearers are: Trent Cooper, Timothy Phurrough, and Colton Cooper. Interment will follow in the Martin Memorial Cemetery, Clanton, Ala. Martin Funeral Home will direct the services.

ROY SAMUEL WILLIAMS

SYLACAUGA — Funeral services for Roy Samuel Williams, 83, will be Wednesday, March 29, at 2 p.m. at St. Thomas United Methodist Church with Pastor Richard L. Stryker officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Mr. Williams died Tuesday, March 21, at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Katie D. Williams; one daughter, Theresa W. Bledsoe of Nashville, TN; three sons, Michael P. Williams, Durwin G. Williams, and Erwin D. Williams, all of Sylacauga; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Max-Ten Social Club Members will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Williams a native of Talladega County; WWII Veteran; retired healthcare worker; member of St. Thomas UMC; member of Max-Ten Social Club. Childersburg Mortuary will direct the services.

RAGLAND — Funeral service for Charles Merril Ashworth, 65, will be Thursday, March 30, at 2 p.m. at Sterrett Church of God of Prophecy. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery in Chelsea. Mr. Ashworth died Tuesday, March 28, at his residence. He is survived by three sons, Charles Ray Ashworth, Dewayne Merril Ashworth, and Donald Patrick (Shena) Ashworth; two granddaughters, Samantha and Savannah Ashworth; and sister, Mary Bush. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 29, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Usrey Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

GERALDINE ZEIDERS DAVIS

TALLADEGA — Geraldine Zeiders Davis, age 97, died March 27, in the home of her daughter in Dadeville. Born December 23, 1908, she was a native of Pennsylvania; orphaned at 10 years of age when her parents died of influenza. She graduated class valedictorian from Derry Township High School, Yeagertown, PA in 1927. She attended University of PA School Nursing where she earned a RN in 1931. She married Sumner D. Davis, MD, in 1933, who preceded her in death. They moved to Talladega Jan. 6, 1936, when Dr. Davis started medical practice with Dr. E.B. Wren and for a time she acted as her husband's nurse. She taught nursing at Citizen Hospital School of Nursing. She was active in the religious and educational affairs of Talladega, especially the First Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School and was active in circle. Serving in the PTA of Central School, she was instrumental in having a lunchroom installed there and she contributed to other improvements also. She was a member of Aglow and taught Bible Classes. She was active in the Talladega County Medical Auxiliary and was president in 1942; a lifetime member of the State & National Genealogical Society and state historian, and a member of Gideons Auxiliary, the Talladega Study Club, and Highland City Club. She is survived by daughters, Nancy Bourne, Birmingham and Linda Ledbetter (Lowell), Dadeville; son, Sumner A. Davis II (Laurie), Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Helen Pruet, Katherine Jenkins (Mike), Alexander W. Pruet (Heather), Sharon Bourne Rodgers, Laura Dowling (Steve), Charles L. Ledbetter (Kimberly), Sumner D. Davis III (Jenerifer); 19 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. The services will be at First Presbyterian Church of Talladega at 11 a.m. Friday, March 31, with interment at Oakhill Cemetery. The the Rev. Leeanne Scarbourgh officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to First Presbyterian Church, 130 E. North Street, Talladega, AL 35160 or The Gideons International, P.O. Box 352, Talladega, AL 35161. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church before service.

Pallbearers will be Charles Ledbetter Jr., Steve Dowling, Sumner D. Davis III, Michael Jenkins, Tom Dowling, and Alex Pruet. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the services.

MARY ELLEN BURK GOWER

SPARTANBURG, SC — Mary Ellen Burk Gower, 80, died Monday, March 27, 2006, at White Oak Estates. Born January 7, 1926, in Talladega, AL, she was the daughter of the late Samuel P. and Mary Ellen West Burns. She was first married to the late Eugene C. Burk, Sr., Major U.S. Army Retired, and then to the late Luther R. Gower. She was Baptist by faith. Her family remembers her for her laughter and giving spirit. She gave so many cards to others at the nursing home that she was called "the card lady".

Survivors include two sons, Eugene C. " Buddy" Burk, Jr. and his wife Virginia of Spartanburg, SC, and William J. "Bill" Burk and his wife Trisha of Charlotte, NC; a brother, Samuel P. Burns and his wife Kathleen of Laurinburg, NC; two granddaughters, Shannon Burk Nalbone of Concord, NC, and Alyson Burk Altman of Fort Mill, SC; a grandson, Jason Burk of Cornelius, NC; two great-granddaughters, Madison Nalbone and Laila Burk; and two great-grandsons, Cason Nalbone and Landon Nalbone. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Ellen Burk. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 30, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Rufus Chaneyworth. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Columbia, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church Senior Outreach Program, 350 North Blackstock Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301. MUNFORD — Funeral service for Eula Mae Wade, 70, will be Thursday, March 30, at 2 p.m. at Usrey Chapel in Talladega with the Rev. Curtis Collett and the Rev. Mike Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Munford Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Wade died Tuesday, March 28, at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega County; a member of Hopeful Baptist Church and the Ladies Adult Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her son, James Wade; parents, Cecil and Lona Cotton; and two sisters, Jessie Mae Smith and Velma Moore. She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Norris A. Wade Sr. of Munford; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Walter Hendon Jr. of Lineville; daughter-in-law, Sharon Wade of Munford; sons and daughters-in-law, Norris Jr. and Sandra Wade of Cragford and Donald and Lisa Wade of Munford; sisters, Joyce Dabbs of Munford and Shirley Bates of Sweetwater, TN; seven grandchildren, Shelby Hendon, Karen Wade, Michelle Shears, Matthew Wade, Scott Wade, Chasity Dunaway, Candace Wilbanks; seven great grandchildren, Dylan Hendon, Taylor Hendon, Tyler Wilbanks, Kayle Wilbanks, Cameron Dunaway, Luke Dunaway, and Autumn Dunaway. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 29, from 5-8 p.m. at Usrey.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Wade, Alvin Wade, Matthew Wade, Ashley Butterworth, Jason Pettus, and Davis Dabbs. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the service.
