SHELBY, NC — Funeral services for James Eric Groce, Sr., 34, of Laurel Hills Apt M-2, will be Sat. at 1:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Matthew Leonard officiating with burial in the church cemetery. The body will be placed at the church one hour prior to the service. Mr. Groce died May 5 at his residence. He attended Talladega County Central High School and Cleveland Community College, NC; was employed as a supervisor at Spartanburg Correctional Center, SC; was owner of Groce Catering Service; attended the Blessed Nation Church. He was formerly of Talladega He is survived by wife Reshelda D. Groce, Ragland; daughter Jameshia Groce, Ragland; son James Eric Groce, Jr., Eric James Groce, Both of Ragland; parents, Brenda Ann Groce, Shelby, NC & Elvin Ball, Jr., Talladega; sisters, Princess Swain & Bridgette Braxton both of Talladega; brothers Rodney Groce, Munford; and Kelvin Groce of Alpine.

Pallbearers will be Nick King, Deon Groce, Steve Groce, Roderick Groce, Demarco King, Travis Swain, Eric Groce & Stephen Braxton. Terry's Metropolitian Mortuary will direct the service.

EDWARD LEE HINDMON

LINCOLN — Funeral services for Edward Lee Hudson, 85, will be Saturday, May 13 at 2 p.m. from the Talladega Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harvey Bowlin Sr. officiating with burial with military Honors will follow from Oak Hill Cemetery in Talladega. Mr. Hindmon passed away May 10 at his home in Lincoln. Survivors are his wife, Beatrice Hindmon of Lincoln, daughter Cheryl Johnson and her husband Ronny of Talladega, sisters Alene Richardson, Elizabeth Brown, Rozena Stephens, Mildred Robinson all of Ashland, four step grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren, Mr Hindmon is preceded in death by a stepson Jesse L. Robinson, two sisters, Magdalene McCain, Eunice Robinson and three brothers Woody Hindmon, Frank Hindmon, and James Hindmon. Active pallbearers are, Randall Robinson, Jeff Robinson, Jimmy Robinson, Tim Stephens, and Raymond Stephens, James Waites. Mr Hindmon was a native of St Clair County, Alabama, but had lived many years in Talladega County. He was a retired Barber and was a Veteran of The United States Navy where he served in WWII. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Church in Clay County, Alabama. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Friday from 6p.m. til 9 p.m. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the service.

TALLADEGA — William L. "Mane Dooley" Jemison, 64, died May 11 at his residence. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will announce arrangements.

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Ruth Lee Pitts, 76, will be Friday, May 12, 4 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Forbus officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, Clay County. Visitation will be Friday, May 12 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Mrs. Pitts died Wednesday, May 10 at Sylacauga Health Care Center. She is survived by daughters, Sharman (Dustin) Brown and Cynthia Sexton; step-daughters Brenda Ray, Gwen Smith, Wanda Whitley, and Juanita Nix; brother, Edward Lee; sisters Hazel Adair and Thelma Smelly, all of Sylacauga, and Jewel Kuberka of Talladega; 14 Grandchildren; 14 Great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Isaac Whetstone, Chris Whitley, Donald Ray, Wayne Whitley, Chris Nix and Todd Whitley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Pitts, son, Tommy Pilkington, grandson, Brandon Pilkington, parents, George and Cleo Lee, and brothers, Pete Lee and George Lee, Jr. She attended Browns Chapel. CLEVELAND, OH — Mr. Scott, 80, died May 7 in Cleveland Ohio. He was formerly of Pell City. Terry's will announce arrangements.

TALLADEGA — Funeral services for Master Ricky Jermon Whitson, 5, of 1100 W. Battle St., Apt. #143, will be Saturday, 2 p.m. at Kelly Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. L.L. Jacobs & Elder Gregory Turner officiating. Burial will be in Lane Chapel Cemetery. The body will be in the church at 1 p.m. The youth died May 7, 2006, at Citizens Baptist Medical Center. He is survived by Grandparents, Carleva Woodgett, of Talladega, Qurienton Payne of Birmingham and Oliver and Carmerita Whitson of Talladega; Great-grandparents, Eva Woodgett of Talladega, Carl and Willie Mae Woodgett, of Lineville and Ross Whitson, of Talladega; parents, Angelina Flores Whitson, and Jermon Qurienton Woodgett both of Talladega; brother, Benjamin Qurienton Whitson of Talladega. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the services.

DOROTHY ELOISE WILLIAMSON

SYLACAUGA — Funeral services for Dorothy Eloise Williamson, 80, will be Saturday, May 13 at 2 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with Dr. Wayne McDaniel officiating. Interment will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Childersburg. Visitation will be Friday, May 12 from 5 p.m. until 8 pm. Mrs. Williamson died Thursday, May 11, 2006 at Talladega Healthcare Center. She is survived by sons, Joseph Williamson of Talladega, Johnny Williamson of Sylacauga, and Kenneth Williamson of Fayetteville; daughters, Barbara Dowdy of Cleveland, Ala. and Sharon Thrash of Sylacauga; 10 Grandchildren, 10 Great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Dowdy, Joey Thrash, Jared Williamson, Andy Thrash, Wesley Thrash, and Shane Richards. Mrs. Williamson was retired as an LPN after some 15 years of nursing and was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Williamson; parents, Lizzie Mae and Carl Perry; brother, Billy and sister, Juanita. TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Eula Mae Buchanan, 80, will be Saturday, June 3, at 3 p.m. at Hepzibah Baptist Church with Dr. Randy Hagen officiating. Burial will be in Hepzibah Cemetery. Mrs. Buchanan died Thursday, June 1, at her residence. She was a native of Mississippi but lived most of her life in Birmingham. She had lived in Talladega County since 1986. She was a member of Hepzibah Baptist Church where she was very active. She is survived by her husband, Charles C. Buchanan of Talladega; three sons, Charles C. Buchanan III of Alabaster, Floyd Alan Buchanan and James Austin Buchanan both of Talladega; one daughter, Carroll Faye Buchanan of Lakeview; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A special thanks to the dedicated and kind employees of Southern Care Hospice. Visitation will be Saturday, June 3, from 1-3 p.m. at Hepzibah Baptist Church. Donations may be made to Southern Care Hospice or Hepzibah Church Building Fund.

Pallbearers will be Ed Sollie, Beaver Tinsley, Mack Ferguson, Ken Haynes, Billy Klinner, George Poer. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Purdy and Bennie Youngblood. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the service.

PELL CITY — Funeral services for James Ollie Crowe, 73, will be Friday, June 2, at 11 a.m. at Kilgroe Chapel with the Rev. Rodrick Beavers officiating. Interment will be in Forest Crest Cemetery. Mr. Crowe died Wednesday, May 31, 2006. He is survived by his wife, Edna Crowe; son, Jeffrey Crowe; two daughters, Cathy Hudgins and Kelly Jolley; two sisters, Cora Lee Preston and Annie Lou Powell; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the services.

TONYA MARIE DAVISON

OPELIKA — God gave us Tonya on July 20, 1980, and He took her home on May 3, 2006. God saw her getting tired. A cure was not to be, so He put His arms around her and whispered "Come to Me". And though we loved her dearly, we could not make her stay. Now she watches over us each and every day. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Charles J. Davis of Lancing, TN. Tonya will be dearly missed by her two beautiful daughters, Destinee Lynn, 7, and Tristian Amber, 2, both of Opelika; her mother, Debra Fitchpatrick of Oak Ridge, TN; her father, David Davison of Sylacauga; grandmother, Marie Davis of Tennessee; and grandparents, Mary and Jesse Epperson of Alabama; twin sister, Tosha and husband Carl Walmsley of Mississippi; brothers, Ricky Davison with fiancee Hollie Benfield of Alabama, Jimmy Page of Tennessee, Jesse and Brad Davison of Alabama; nephew, Cody Walmsley; and niece, Cylie Walmsley of Mississippi; nephew Tanner Davison of Alabama; and lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Tonya will be truly missed by everyone who knew her. Funeral arrangements were made by East Alabama Funeral Home in Dadeville. She was laid to rest at Clear Creek Cemetery in Lancing, TN.

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Paula Vay Durham, 89, will be Saturday, June 3, at 2 p.m. at Usrey Chapel with Pete Rice officiating. Entombment will be in Pine Hill Mausoleum. Mrs. Durham died Tuesday, May 30, at Talladega Health Care Center. She was a native of Cullman County but had lived in Talladega since 1968. She was of the Baptist faith; her entire career was in food service. She is survived by her husband, George Durham of Talladega; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jackie Talley of Birmingham, Annette and Pete Rice of Elfrida, AZ., and Paulette and Phil Acord of Chattanooga, TN; two sisters, Bertle Lynd of Talladega and Thelma Bunton of Gadsden; one brother, Terry Rasco of Altus, OK; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday, June 3, from 12-2 p.m. at Usrey. Donations may be made to Pray Ministries, 4284 W. Thompson Road, Elfrida, AZ 86610, or Childrens Homes Chambliss Shelter, 315 Gillespie Road, Chattanooga, TN 37411.

DAVID WAYNE EPPERSON

CHILDERSBURG — Funeral services for David Wayne Epperson, 61, will be Friday, June 2, at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Blackmon and the Rev. Jimmy Dale Abrams officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Epperson passed away Wednesday, May 31, at Coosa Valley Medical Center. He was employed by Avondale for 43 years. He was a loving husband and a good father. He is survived by his wife, Roberta Epperson of Childersburg; son, Kevin DeWayne Grogan (Epperson) and wife Misty of Sylacauga; three daughters, Becky Collins and husband Johnny of Alexander City, Stephanie Curtis and husband Tinker of Sylacauga, and Diane Aldridge and husband Jason of Tallassee; two brothers, Charles Epperson of Sylacauga and Doug Epperson of Jasper; sister, Maybelle Virginia Cliett of Bessemer; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the services.

ROBERTA DAVIS INGRAM

PELL CITY — On May 31, 2006, at the age of 99, God, in His grace, wisdom and mercy, called Roberta Davis Ingram home to be with Him in the place He has prepared for her. Mrs. Ingram was a devoted mother to her two daughters, Dr. Betty Ingram Cosper and the late Mrs. JoAnn Ingram King. Mrs. Ingram was a proud grandmother to her seven grandchildren: Betty Ann Cosper Dennis, Susan King Evans, Debbie Cosper Fletcher, Carol Cosper Meadows, Karen King Allen, Alan Joseph King, and Billy M. Cosper Jr., as well as her 13 great grandchildren. Mrs. Ingram is survived by four sisters and two brothers. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Joe Ingram. Mrs. Ingram was a faithful servant whose kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity extended to all with whom she came into contact. She was beloved by the members of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, her Sunday School class and countless other individuals in the surrounding communities. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Bill McClanahan for the extraordinary love, care, and concern he showed Mrs. Ingram over the years. The family will receive visitors between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Friday, June 2, at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City. Funeral services will be at on Saturday, June 3, at 10 a.m. at Mt. WILMA D. JACKSON

CHILDERSBURG — Funeral service for Prophetess Wilma D. Jackson, 44, will be Saturday, June 3, at 2 p.m. at the Jesus Saves Deliverance Temple Church in Sylacauga with Pastor Diane McMillian officiating. Burial will be in Lilly Rhoden Cemetery in Childersburg. Mrs. Jackson died Sunday, May 28 at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham. She attended and graduated from Childersburg High School (class of 1980). At an early age she joined the Enon Baptist Church, then later on in her life time she united with the Jesus Saves Deliverance Temple Church. She is survived by her husband, Mr. Frederick Jackson Sr. of Sylacauga; two daughters, Mrs. Valorie Chambliss of Sylacauga and Varonica Crawford of Childersburg; one son, Frederick Jackson Jr. of Childersburg; three grandchildren; father, Mr. George Traylor of Childersburg; mother-in-law, Annie Woods of Sylacauga; two sisters, Anita McGregor and Nellie Youngblood both of Childersburg; four brothers, the Rev. Henry Traylor of Childersburg, Johnny of Creswell, Kelvin Traylor and Willie Traylor both of Childersburg.

Pallbearers will be brothers and nephew. Flowerbearers will be the Sisters of Jesus Saves Deliverance Temple. Visitation will be Friday at Community Funeral Home from 12-9 p.m. Community Funeral Home will direct the service.

CHARLES ROBERT JENKINS

PELL CITY — Funeral services for Charles Robert Jenkins, 83, will be Friday, June 2, at 3:30 p.m. at Kilgroe Chapel with Dr. Kenneth Bullard officiating. Interment will be in Valley Hill Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Jenkins died Tuesday, May 30, 2006. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Robert Jenkins; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry P. Jenkins. Charles Jenkins, a U.S. Army Veteran, served three years in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who also enjoyed yard work. He was often found feeding neighborhood birds, squirrels, rabbits, etc. in his many homemade feeders. Special thanks to Dr. A. Forero and Lakeside Hospice. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marcene L. Jenkins; two sons, Jay H. Jenkins and Robert Ray (Rita) Jenkins; daughter, Linda (John) Champion; grandchildren, Tracy (Jonathan) Whitten, Michael Jenkins, Jason (Beth) Jenkins.

Pallbearers will be Jay Jenkins, Robert Jenkins, John Champion, Bobby Schell, Jonathan Whitten, Michael Jenkins, Jason Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers will be the Buck Mountain Hunting Club Members. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the services.

JULIAN (JU-BABY) MORGAN JR.

SYLACAUGA — Funeral service for Julian "Jubaby" Morgan Jr., 64, will be Saturday, June 2, at 11 a.m. from Community Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Curtis Seals officiating. Burial will be in Sylacauga Cemetery. Mr. Morgan died on May 27 at his residence. He graduated from East Highland High School. He served in the United States Army. He is survived by two daughters, Michelle and Amanda Morgan both of Atlanta, GA; one son, Jutrevious Groce of Sylacauga; brother, Milton Patterson of Detroit, MI; sisters, Barbara Smith-Kelly of Sylacauga; and Earnestine Morgan of Detroit, MI; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers and flowerbearers will be friends of the family. Visitation will be at Community Funeral Home on Friday from 12-8 p.m. Community Funeral Home will direct the service.

JOHNTAVIOUS ANTONIO PEARSON

TALLADEGA — Funeral services for Johntavious Antonio Pearson, 15, will be Saturday, June 3, at 1 p.m. at Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary with Jerome Lawson officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery. Mr. Pearson died Monday, May 29, at Russell Medical Center. He had just completed the 8th grade at Zora Ellis Jr. High School. He is survived by his parents, Vallissa J. Pearson of Talladega and Terrance S. Swain of Alpine; sisters, Sherkena Pearson of Talladega, Murial L. Swain, Tyra Swain, and Tiara Swain all of Alpine; brother, Shemar Pearson of Talladega; grandparents, Willie Lee and Dorothy Swain of Alpine, Alice Pearson of Talladega, Wallace Fulks of Sylacauga, and Shirley and Wayne Wilson of Talladega. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary will direct the services.

SYLACAUGA — Memorial service for James Edwin "Jim" Walker, 77, will be Sunday, June 4, at 2 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel. Mr. Walker died Wednesday, May 31, at Coosa Valley Medical Center. He was Executive Director of Boys Club of America; member of First Baptist Church of Sylacauga and Coosa Pines Golf Club. He is survived by his daughters, Gloria (Tom) Sharpe of Tallassee and Vicki Lynn (Steve) Jeffries of Hueytown; brothers, Jack Walker of Ackworth, GA, and Robert Pervis Walker of Auburn; sisters, Sarah McGrady and Judy Hellard of Sycamore; step-son, James E. Gilleon of Orlando, FL; mother of his children, Roberta H. Walker; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. ALEXANDER CITY — Funeral services for Milton W. "Boot" Ware, 53, will be at 1 p.m. June 3, 2006. Armour's Memorial Funeral Home will direct the services.

HELEN S. WIEMAR

BIRMINGHAM — Helen S. Wiemar, age 84 passed away peacefully at home Thursday, June 1, 2006. She was a lifelong resident of Birmingham and a Veteran of World War II. Helen was a graduate of the St. Vincent’s School of Nursing and was a nursing supervisor at the hospital until she retired in 1986. Her husband, Bill Wiemar, and her son, John Wiemar preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children: Dennis Wiemar, David Wiemar (Donna), Tom Wiemar (Judy), Chris Wiemar, Mary Cross (Mike Miller), Anna Brown (Fred), Alma Steinberg (Fred), Sara Moulton (Tom), Mike Bobyarcheck, Steve Wiemar (Robin); numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at St. Elias Maronite Church. The family will receive friends Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel, 205-251-7227, is directing.
