OAKTON, VA — Willie Pearl Dosier, 86, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Inova Common Wealth Care Center in Fairfax, VA. Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will announce arrangements.

TALLADEGA — Graveside Rites for Donald Grogan, 65, will be Thursday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Huffaker officiating. Mr. Grogan died Monday, Oct. 16, at UAB West in Bessemer. He was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega; member of the Baptist faith; retired from Floyd & Beasley and West Point/Stevens. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zack and Pearl Grogan. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Grogan of Talladega; three daughters, Vickie Davis and husband Ronnie of Talladega, Donna Moxley and husband Dwayne of Munford, and Melissa Crumley of Oxford; one brother, Jerry Grogan of Tuscaloosa; two sisters, Anne McKinney and Sherry Presley both of Talladega; six grandchildren, Michael, Corey, Zack, Patrick, Chase, and Jessie; and one great-granddaughter, Hillary. Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 18, from 6-8 p.m. at Usrey.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Trussell, Chad Johnson, Carol Ford, Tommy Matson, Brian Hutton, Cory Phillips, Edwin Fannin, and Ronnie Davis. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the service.

SARA "GABRIELLE" JERNIGAN

Benton, Kansas — Sara “Gabrielle” Jernigan, 6, died Oct. 13, 2006 at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. She was born Oct. 13, 2000, the daughter of David and Sara Koch Jernigan. She was a kindergartner at Benton Grade School. She was a member of the princess society, like Cinderella, Aurora, and Belle. She is survived by her parents; two sisters, Samantha and Alexis Jernigan; and a brother, Talon Jernigan, all of the home, Benton, Kansas. Paternal grandparents, Bob and Mona Jernigan, Sylacauga; and maternal grandparents, Rick and Barbara Koch, Severy, Kansas. Memorial services will be held, 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 19, with the Rev. Andrew Jernigan officiating at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, Wichita, Kansas. Visitation from 5:00-5:45 and reception following the service at the church. The family requests memorials be made to Northfield School and marked 'Gabrielle Jernigan scholarship fund' and The Mission Society, notation: Jernigan Project #611, in her honor to fund the work of Andrew & Juliana Jernigan to their medical mission work in Ghana, West Africa. SYLACAUGA — Alice Justice, 60, died Monday, Oct. 16, at Coosa Valley Medical Center. Radney-Smith Funeral Home will announce arrangements.

PELL CITY — The the Rev. J.D. Macon, 71, joined his Heavenly Father on Oct. 16, 2006. After a five year battle with cancer, he passed peacefully into eternity surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 19, at 12 p.m. from Usrey Chapel with the Rev. Ted St. John and the Rev. Archie Maddox officiating. Interment will be in St. Clair Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home. J.D. was a beloved husband and father as well as a faithful servant of the Lord and a successful businessman. He was the former pastor of both Evening Star Baptist Church in Vincent and Second Baptist Church in Pell City. the Rev. Macon also founded Maco Industries in Pell City in 1975 and ran the business until his recent passing. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. the Rev. Macon is survived by his wife, Clara Bice Macon; four children, Teresa (Gerald) Carr, Brenda LeVan, Angela (Greg) Brown, and Tommy Macon; nine grandchildren, Brandon (Anne) Carter, Krystal Carr, Amber LeVan, Lauren West, Natalie (Brandon) Mathews, Candace Carr, Matthew Brown, Kathy Brown, and Jacob Brown; two great grandchildren, Ava Carter and Macy Mathews; four sisters, Ira Bella Trucks, Dorothy (Buck) Stewart, Dean (Brown) Dye, and Brenda (Jim) Ogle; and two brothers, Quinton (Mary Virginia) Macon and Bill (Peggy) Macon. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Bradley Carter. The family wishes to thank our friends and family for the many prayers and for the support during the Rev. Macon's long illness. "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us" Romans 8:18. "Come unto me and I will give you rest." Interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery. Mr. Bevels died Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Brookwood Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lottie Bevels; and his sister, Mary Imogene McDonald. He is survived by his brother, Henry Marshall Bevels of Sylacauga; sisters, Helen McDonald of Opelika and Edna White of Sylacauga; niece, Diane McDonald of Sylacauga; nephew, Jessie McDonald of Sylacauga. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Mims died Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Sylacauga Health Care Center. She was a member of First Church of God of Sylacauga. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charlie E. Mims of Sylacauga; daughters, Shirley Long and husband James of Rainbow City and Lynn Sasser and husband Richard of Sylacauga; son, Wayne Mims of Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Larue Hatcher of Sylacauga and Frankie Bentley of Anderson, IN; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. GADSDEN — Funeral service for Edward Wren Pitts, 73, will be Friday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. at Usrey Chapel with the Rev. Harvey Bowlin officiating. Burial will be at Pine Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Pitts died Tuesday, Oct. 17, at his residence. He was a native of Talladega County, had lived in New Jersey 40 years before moving to Gadsden in 1991; member of Alliance Church in Gadsden; retired from Dupont, Inc.; Veteran of Korean War; member of American Legion. He enjoyed his two dogs, Pooch and Sam; loved traveling in his camper; loved carpentry, stock car races, and working around the yard. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Ross Pitts of Gadsden; two daughters, Jeanne M. Venuto of Moorestown, NJ and Betty J. Macgraw of Deepwater, NJ; two sons, Brian E. Pitts and Edward W. Pitts Jr. both of Middletown, DE; one step-son, Donnie Cline of Elkton, MD; two sisters, Betty J. Sexton of Talladega and Faye Watson of New Brockton, AL; one brother, Bobby E. Pitts of Talladega; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Special thanks to Hope Hospice Nurses: Laura and Sylvia for their loving care for Dad and family. H. CHARLES BULLARD

SYLACAUGA — Graveside service for H. Charles Bullard, 71, will be Saturday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Skipworth officiating. Mr. Bullard died Wednesday, Oct. 19, at his residence. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene and Coast Guard Reserve. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean Conflict. He was a native of Fayetteville; retired from Flavorich; and was a commercial pilot. He is survived by his wife, Nell Bullard of Sylacauga; son, Hank Bullard of Sylacauga; daughter, Beverly Baker of Sylacauga; four grandsons, Matthew Bullard, Jacob Bullard, Luke Bullard, and Levi Baker, all of Sylacauga; brother, Robert Bullard of Fayetteville; and three sisters, Edna Munroe of Hanover, Elaine Vansandt of Fayetteville, and Lois Bailey of Sylacauga. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 20, from 5:30-9 p.m. Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

ALPINE — Funeral service for Earl Lindsey Deason, 76, will be Saturday, Oct. 21, at 11 a.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Blackmon officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Deason died Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Coosa Valley Medical Center. He retired as a foreman from Moretti-Harrah Marble Quarry after some 32 years of service. He was an avid fisherman, gardener, and automobile mechanic and was a loving father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Betty Deason of Sylacauga; son, James Earl Deason and wife Brenda of Butler, GA; daughters, Peggy Garris and husband Mike, and Wanda Ogle and husband Tony, all of Sylacauga; sister, Annie Rose Glaze and husband Tandy of Alpine; granddaughter, Chasity Johnson and husband Stephen of Sylacauga; grandson, Alex Garris of Sylacauga; and four step grandchildren. PELL CITY — Funeral services for Clara Williamson "Bobbie" Stevens, 91, will be Saturday, Oct. 21, at 12 noon at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Brasher and the Rev. Curtis Rush officiating. Interment will be in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Stevens died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006. She was preceded in death by her husband, Minton S. Stevens; and her son, Jerry Dean Frazer. She was a lifelong resident of Eden and was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church her entire life. She loved her church, family, community, and a host of friends. She is survived by her twin daughters, Betty Lou Frazer Kemp and Barbara Sue Frazer (Ken) Sowell of Huntsville; eight grandchildren, Jeffery (Easter) Frazer of Hamilton, GA, Randy (Sue) Frazer of Seale, Debra Jane Frazer (Bobby) Mathews of Seale, Susan Clare Sowell (Shannon) Fields of Huntsville, Dr. John (Denise) Sowell of Huntsville, Jack (Jo Angela) Kemp of Theodore, Joe (Skyla) Kemp, Jane Christeen Kemp of Birmingham; 17 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Burial will be in East Providence Cemetery. Mrs. Williams died Wednesday, Oct. 18, at RMC Anniston. She was a native of Clay County but lived in Talladega most of her life. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy; and was a life long Christian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Heath; mother, Cora Campbell Hudgins; and brother, the Rev. Edward Campbell. She is survived by four daughters, Shirley Baines of Talladega, Elizabeth Heath and husband Tommy of Lincoln, Elaine Brown and husband Joe of Talladega, Sandra Spohn and husband Shawn of Michigan; four sons, Jerry Heath and wife Jackie, William Gregory Heath and wife Karen, Jeff Heath and wife, Christi, all of Talladega, and Billy Heath and wife Cathy of Moulton; two sisters, Elizabeth Campbell and Mildred Haynes, both of Oxford; 25 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Ms. Forbus died Thursday, Oct. 19, at Sylacauga Healthcare Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ralph Forbus; her parents, Thomas Boyd Baker and Ressie Martin Baker; and her brother, Thomas Houston Baker. She was affectionately called "Maw Maw". She is survived by sons, Jerry Forbus and wife Kim of Foley, Mark Forbus of Sylacauga, and Matthew Forbus of Laffyette, IN; daughter, Jane Forbus Pilate and husband Tommy of Sylacauga; brother, James Madison Baker of Ponchatula, MS; grandsons, TSgt. Jeremy O. Forbus of Warner Robins, GA, Jason S. Forbus of Summerdale, Travis J. Forbus of Foley, and Adam F. Pilate of Sylacauga; granddaughter, Jessica A. Mrs. Gunter died Thursday, Oct. 19, in Gadsden. She was a native and lifelong resident of Talladega County; member of Bemiston Baptist Church; retired as Director of X-Ray Department at Citizens Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Gunter; and son, Greg J. Gunter. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Donna G. and Sam Ledbetter of Gadsden; three sisters, Christine F. Watts of Prattville, Jean F. Haynes of Sylacauga, and Peggy F. Hall of Talladega; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 21, from 1-3 p.m. at Hepzibah Baptist Church. Usrey Funeral Home in Talladega will direct the service.

TALLADEGA - Funeral service for Jacqueline Ragan, 59, will be Monday, Oct. 23, at 1 p.m. at Talladega College, Deforest Chapel with the Rev. Allen Arnold Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed at Deforest chapel at 12 p.m. Ms. Ragan died Friday, Oct. 20, at her residence. She was a teacher at Helen Keller and AIDB. Viewing will be Sunday, Oct. 22, from 6-7 p.m. at Terry's. Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary is in charge.

RUBY NELL "NANNY BIRD" ROBERTS

TALLADEGA - Funeral services for Ruby Nell "Nanny Bird" Roberts, 70, will be Sunday, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. from the Talladega Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Allen Holley and the Rev. Ottis Graves officiating. Burial will follow from the Limbaugh Chapel Holiness Church Cemetery. Mrs. Roberts passed away Oct. 18, at Regional Medical Center. Survivors are three daughters, Jimmie Nell Mathis and her husband Jim of Talladega, Kathy Renee Haynes and her husband Danny of Talladega, Hilda Dean Doucet and her husband Mike of Talladega; one step daughter, Darlean Reaves of Talladega; one brother, the Rev. James Edward Bryant of Blount County; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Roberts; and two brothers, John and the Rev. Fred Bryant. Active pallbearers are David Jones, Wesley Easterwood, Shannon Easterwood, Harley Roberts, Ronnie Langley, Steven Miller, and Johnny Lynn. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Stanley Jett, Dr. Mark Holbrook, Dr. William Ferguson, Chuck Downes, Dr. Carla Thomas, Dr. Dewayne Clark, Dr. Robert Patel, Shaun Williamson, Dr. Pable Valle Blacio, Charolette Cleveland, Coosa Valley Home Health, Gentivna, and Professional Apothecary. Mrs. Roberts was a native of Lamar County, and had lived for some 26 years in Talladega. She was retired from K-Mart and was a former employee of the Palm Beach Company. She was a member of the Blackberry Lane Church where she served as the church musician. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6-9 p.m. Talladega Funeral Home will direct the services.
