ROLAND A. GOODWIN

PELL CITY — Funeral service for Roland A. Goodwin, 76, will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Kilgroe Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. James Blair officiating. Burial will be in Valley Hill Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Goodwin died June 21. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 until 1946, and was a long-time resident of Pell City. He was owner of Jill’s Drive-in in the 1960s and 1970s. He served as a disc jockey for several local radio stations and was named Mr. DJ USA in 1963. He had a passion for flying since the age of 16. He was a Mason.

He is survived by his wife, Sara Harmon Goodwin of Pell City; a daughter and son-in-law, Christa and Bill Valentz of Birmingham; a son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Belinda Goodwin of Pell City; three grandchildren, Ryan Valentz, Brett Valentz and Ashley Valentz; one great-grandchild, Carson Ann Valentz; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred and Norris Underwood of Birmingham and Peggy and Reuben Garnett of Birmingham.

Visitation is today from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Kilgroe Funeral Home will direct the service.

DOROTHY DELORES LIPHAM

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Dorothy Delores Lipham, 69, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Patton’s Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Alan Layton officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park.

Mrs. Lipham died June 22 at her residence. She was a native of Eden, Ala., and lived in Talladega most of her life. She was a member of Patton’s Chapel Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and played the piano.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Lipham of Talladega; two daughters, Delores “De De” Fuller of Talladega and Sandy Owens of Lincoln; two grandsons, Jordan Fuller and Matt Owens; and one great-grandson, Fenix Owens.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Ray Ford, Buddy Cotton, Mike Mitchell, Billy Reaves, Wayne Brand and Robert Lee Bean Jr.

The family will receive friends Sunday at from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home

Usrey Funeral Home will direct the service.

ALBERT CRUMPLER

SYLACAUGA — Albert Crumpler, 85, of 1265 Pinecrest Road, died June 21 at Coosa Valley Baptist Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Community Funeral Home.

LEILA H. BURNS

SPRING HILL — Funeral service for Leila H. Burns, 92, will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Spring Hill Primitive Baptist Church with Elder James Rowe officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Burns died June 20 at Wilder Nursing Home.

She is survived by seven sisters, Ruth Ann Elleba and Betty J. Griffin of Richmond, Va., Mable White of Leesburg, Fla., Vera Brooks of Florine, Canada, Shirley (Shelly) Greathouse of Camp Hill and Lola Kelley of Dadeville; four brothers, Eddie James Hart and the Rev. Jack Hart of Chattanooga, Tenn., Markus Hart of San Antonio, Texas, and Harold Hart of Camp Hill; four grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Wright’s Funeral Home will direct the service.

ERIA MAE MOON

ALEXANDER CITY — Funeral service for Eria Mae Moon, 65, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Haven United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bruce Williams officiating. Burial will be in Elam #1 Cemetery.

Mrs. Moon died June 17 at Russell Medical Center.

She is survived by four daughters, Jocelyn Skalberg of Haverhill, Ma., Sherry Johnson and Ellanor Moon of Alexander City and Kim Moon of Lawrenceville, Ga.; four sons, Tim Moon of Alexander City, Juan Moon of Valley, Ala., Lynn Moon of Chula Vista, Calif., and Keith Moon of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Rosie D. Brown and Macie Swendal of Elmore County; four stepchildren, Fannie Whetstone and Curry Moon Jr. of Alexander City, Rosie Coleman of Anniston and Jerry Rhodes of Orange County, Calif.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Wright’s Funeral Home will direct the service.

PAULA LYNN MURPHY BULLOCK

SYCAMORE — Funeral service for Paula Lynn Murphy Bullock, 23, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North chapel with the Rev. Hubert Gentry officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Bullock died June 23 at her residence. She was a member of Sylacauga Lightower Church.

She is survived by her husband, Michael H. Bullock of Sycamore; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Murphy of Sycamore; three sisters, Billie Dee Murphy and Diana Paige Murphy of Sycamore and Fallon Renay Murphy of Auburn; her grandparents, Jerry and Mable Murphy of Sycamore and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Denty; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Frank and Sherrie (Denty) Hobgood; and one nephew, Christopher Lee Fisher Jr. of Birmingham.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Josh Webb, Blake Williams, Phillip Hobgood, Mark Jones, Patrick Veal and David Benefield Jr.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the service.

NAOMI TRUSS CURRY

SHELBY — Funeral service for Naomi Truss Curry, 66, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church South in Pell City with the Rev. Ronnie C. Beavers officiating. Burial will be in Rocky Zion Cemetery in Pell City.

Mrs. Curry died June 23.

She is survived by five sons, Norman Truss of Lowell, Mass., James Truss of Pell City, the Rev. Larry Truss of Shelby, Patrick Curry of Conley, Ga., and Hubert Brooks of Huntsville; two daughters, Jackie Gover of Atlanta, Ga., and Ernestine Bowie of Pell City; 41 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives.

The Good Shepherd Funeral Home in Montevallo will direct the service.

ANNIE LENORA DAVIS

STERRETT — Funeral service for Annie Lenora Davis, 92, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Davis Chapel Church with the Rev. Harold Latta and the Rev. Mike Wydemon officiating. Burial will be in Lawleys Chapel Cemetery in Sterrett.

Mrs. Davis died June 24. She was a charter member of Davis Chapel Freewill Baptist Church and was a long-time resident of Sterrett.

She is survived by one son, Dwight Davis of Sterrett; four daughters, Louise Allen of Leeds, Sarah Brasher of Coal City, Geraldine Baker of Chester, West Va., and Jeanette Windsor of Sterrett; one sister, Velma Hall of Columbus, Ga.; 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

The body may be viewed at the church from 1 p.m. until service time.

Pallbearers will be Steve Brasher, Duke Brasher, Melvin Windsor Jr., Tommy Hopper, Keith Nunnelley and Rockie Allen.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will direct the service.

WILLIE HAWKINS

VINCENT — Willie Hawkins, 79, died June 25 at his residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Sims Funeral Service.

V. LUCILLE LAKE

TITUSVILLE, Fla. — Memorial service for V. Lucille Lake was Tuesday at Mims United Methodist Church in Mims, Fla., with the Rev. David Harris officiating.

Mrs. Lake died June 21 at the Vista Manor Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 16, 1914, in Clinton, Ind., to Jennie Curtis Lambert and George Lambert. She was active in the Women of the Moose #1485, North Brevard Shrine Club, Order of the Eastern Star, Power Squadron, Coast Guard Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and Space Coast Quilters. She retired after working as a bookkeeper for Gator Freightlines in Cocoa and Brevard Ridgeway Moving and Storage in Titusville, Fla. She also volunteered tax preparation service for AARP in Titusville, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Lawrence Leo Lake; a daughter, Ruth Jeanine; and a great-grandson.

She is survived by two daughters, Patt Lawson of Titusville, Fla., and Judy Thompson of Terre Haute, Ind.; one son, Larry Lake of Odenville; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made in the name of V. Lucille Lake to the Hospice of St. Francis, 2395 South Washington Ave., Titusville, Fla., 32780 or the Mims United Methodist Church.

North Brevard Funeral Home in Titusville, Fla., directed the service.

PAULA TERRELL STANLEY

MACON, Ga. — Funeral service for Paula Terrell Stanley, 88, will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Greenville Baptist Church. Burial will be in Greenville Cemetery.

Mrs. Stanley died June 25. She was born April 12, 1914, in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Judge J. Render Terrell and Mamie Harrison Terrell; and her husband, Cash M. Stanley Jr.

She is survived by three sons, Cash M. Stanley III, M.D. and Terrell Stanley of Macon, Ga., and David Stanley of Marietta, Ga.; two sisters, Hope Terrell of Greenville and Jessie Terrell Doughtie of Columbus, Ga., and five grandchildren.

Claude A. McKibbon and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville, Ga., will direct the service.

JOSEPH STONE

TALLADEGA — Joseph (Babe) Stone, 74, of 915 Washington Ave., died June 24 at his residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Terry's Metropolitan Mortuary.

EVA DELL VICKERS

TALLADEGA — Funeral service for Eva Dell Vickers, 96, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Bemiston Baptist Church with the Rev. John Whetstone Jr. and the Rev. Ray Foreman officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Memorial Park.

Mrs. Vickers died June 24 at Citizens BMC. She was a native of Elmore County and had lived in Talladega since 1937. She was the oldest member of Bemiston Baptist Church and was a member of the Bemiston Study Club, the Margie Cooley Sunday School Class, the Retirees’ Happiness Club and the Talladega Home Extension Club. She was a former award winner for ceramics and crafts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ilie Lee Vickers; and a son, Robert Saxton Vickers.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Willadean Vickers Marlaire and Leon Marlaire of Vestavia Hills; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles Hershel Vickers and Meredith Vickers of Hueytown; four grandchildren, Stephen Douglas Vickers, Karen Vickers Painter, Charles Hershel Vickers Jr. and John Lee Vickers; eight great-grandchildren, Brandy Michelle Vickers, Meredith Brooke Vickers, Charles Tyler Vickers, Kelli Marie Vickers, Allison Vickers, Michelle Vickers, Whitney Olivia Vickers and Colton Pierce Vickers.

Pallbearers will be Steven Vickers, Charles H. Vickers, John Lee Vickers, George Bishop, Jeff Wood, Joe Wayne Ingram, J.W. Baker and Robert Eason.

Usrey Funeral Home will direct the service.

RODERICK WHETSTONE

GOODWATER — Memorial service for Roderick Whetstone will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Goodwater Elementary School gymnasium. Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Whetstone died June 21 in Louisville, Ky. He was born March 3, 1970 in Alexander City. He was preceded in death by his father, James Whetstone.

He is survived by his mother, Betty Whetstone Gaddis; stepfather, Willie James Gaddis; three brothers, Geffery Johnson, Genovis Whetstone and Arlando Johnson; and a host of stepsisters, stepbrothers and other relatives.

Armour's Memorial Funeral Home in Alexander City will direct the service.
