Ethel Lee Bradford, age 100, of Russellville, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2006, at Burns Nursing Home.

Ms. Bradford was a row crop farmer. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Sally Graves Bradford.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at Lawrence Funeral Home Chapel in Moulton with C.G. Reding officiating. Interment was in Old Bethel Cemetery in Leighton.

Pallbearers were Steve Bradford, Tommy Bradford, Jim Byars, J.T. Masterson, Darryl Bradford and Raymond Sutton.

Ms. Bradford is survived by her nieces and nephews.

Lawrence Funeral Home assisted the family.

Eugene J. Copeland, age 80, of Red Bay, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2006, at his residence.

Mr. Copeland was born July 26, 1921, in Mississippi to Barney C. Copeland and Medda Montgomery Copeland. He was a salesman for Lawson Products for 20 years, a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Red Bay, and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in World War II. He was preceded in death by his son, Mike Copeland; and his parents.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at First Baptist Church in Red Bay with Bro. Larry Hill and Bro. Jerry Swimmer officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Copeland is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lola Faye Copeland; a son, John Copeland of Red Bay; a daughter, Janie Cromeans and husband John, of Birmingham; five grandchildren, Jay Copeland of Jacksonville, Florida, Catherine Cromeans of Oxford, Mississippi, John Cromeans III of Oxford, Mississippi, Nicole Roberson and husband Bradley, of Oxford, Mississippi, and Matt Copeland and wife Whitney of Golden, Mississippi; and one great-granddaughter, Riley Roberson of Oxford, Mississippi.

Deaton Funeral Home assisted the family.

James Arthur Garrison, age 47, of Haleyville, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at Baptist Montclair Hospital.

Mr. Garrison had served in the Navy and belonged to Double Springs Masonic Lodge #877. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Florene Garrison; and a brother, Jimmy Garrison.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 13, 2006, at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with Ricky Grimes and Ricky White officiating. Interment was in Posey Mill Cemetery.

Mr. Garrison is survived by his wife, Carolyn Garrison; two children, Timothy Garrison of Phil Campbell and Adam Garrison of Haleyville; four brothers, Sammy Garrison of Phil Campbell, T.V. Garrison of Phil Campbell, Travis Garrison of Sheperdsville, Kentucky, and Junior Garrison of Bear Creek; two sisters, Virginia Clark of Russellville and Linda Annette Adams of Hackleburg; and two grandchildren, Brenden Garrison and Haley Garrison.

Pinkard Funeral Home assisted the family.

Mary Sue Sutton, 67, of Haleyville, Ala. passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009.

A graveside service was held April 6 in Littleville Cemetery.

John William Mobley

John William Mobley, 80, died Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Helen Keller Hospital. He was born in Vina, Ala., June 29, 1928 to Sterling and Ludie Peck Mobley. He was a member of Vina First Baptist Church and attended Bible College in Springfield, Mo. for two years. He was a factory worker for 47 year having been an employee of Mueller Brass for 15 years.

He leaves a great legacy as a servant of God. He always showed great wisdom and discernment, teaching many through instruction and his own example, to love and follow God. He has served in several churches throughout the years as a deacon, song leader and Sunday school teacher. John also helped to start several churches while living in Illinois. He always worked hard wherever he saw the need and showed love and kindness as a truly great son, brother, husband, father, granddaddy, popaw and friend.

Funeral services were held April 1 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay, with Bor. Steve Ledbetter and Bro. Jerry Swimmer officiating. Burial was in Red Bay City Cemetery.

He leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Elois Mobley, of Red Bay; four children, Linda Garrison and husband, Danny, John Tomas Mobley and wife, Tracy, and Leisa Mobley, all of Red Bay and Deborah Verchot and husband, Ed, of Springfield, Va.; one brother, Hubert Mobley, of Lexington, Ky.; one sister, Eulajean Hester, of Vina; eight grandchildren, Jena Dillingham, Edgar Verchot, Kristy Blunt, Josh Garrison, Lori Carpenter, Eric Verchot, Anna Mobley and Ethan Mobley; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters, Ralph Mobley, Edith Osbirn, Wilburn Sterling Mobley, Elizabeth Moomaw, Frances Griswold, Nellie McDonald, Jack Mobley and Charles Mobley.

Pallbearers were Edgar Verchot, Eric Verchot, Josh Garrison, Mark Blunt, Jimmy Shewbart and Brian Moomaw.

Fay Graham

Fay Graham, 104, of Fulton, Miss., died Monday, March 23, 2009 at her residence. She was born August 7, 1904 in Itawamba County, Miss. to John Quincy and Martha Ida Maxcy Chamblee. She was a school teacher and the oldest member of Bethany Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held March 25 at Bethany Baptist Church with Bro. Scot George officiating. Burial was in Bethany Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay assisted the family.

She is survived by her three nieces, Martha Carolyn Chamblee, of Atlanta, Ga., Larrissa Chamblee, of Tremont, Miss., and Diane Chamblee Sands, of Fulton, Miss.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers and sisters, Ray, Chloe, Mildred and Brice.

Joe Lecil Christain

Joe Lecil Christain was born January 26, 1938 in Lamar Co., Ala. He passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009 at the age of 71. He was a member of Living Water Assembly of God.

Funeral services were held April 7 at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Haleyville with Gary Salter and Steve Lawley officiating. Burial was in Winston Memorial Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Polly Christain; children, Ricky Christain and wife, Terri, Sid Christain, and Nicki Christain and husband, Jeff; sister, Marilyn Burroughs; brothers, Danny Paul Christain, Charles O. Christain and Kerry Neal Christain; sister-in-law, Betty Christain; and grandchildren, Brittany Christain and Jake Little.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Nellie Christain and brother, Bill Christain.

Gladys Hellums

Gladys H. Hellums, 82, of Russellville, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Russellville Hospital.

She lived all her life in Franklin County and was a member of Spring Valley Church of Christ.

Funeral services were Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville with Johnny Richardson officiating.

Burial was in Franklin Memory Gardens.

She is survived by her son, Marlin Landers and wife, June, of Brentwood, Tenn.; grandchildren, Mark Lyman Landers, Cody Landers and Amado Landers; nieces, Patsy Gist, Faye Tompkins, Peggy Crews, Linda Gail Ergle; nephews, Gerald and Ricky Smith.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Mrs. Hellums was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Kenneth Hellums; parents, Thurlo and Eva Lou Hester; sisters, Austelle Smith and Mildred Smith.

Farris "Slick" Mayfield

Farris "Slick" Wayne Mayfield, 78, of Russellville, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009, at Helen Keller Hospital.

Mr. Mayfield was a native of Franklin County and member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Russellville. He was an active member, served as deacon and taught Sunday school for a number of years. He was owner and operator of Mayfield's Barber shop for 50 years.

Funeral services were Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville with Ken Taylor officiating.

Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery at Liberty Hill.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Alred Mayfield, of Russellville; children, Sheila Taylor, of New Orleans, La., Renea Trapp, of Russellville, Gary Mayfield, of South Haven, Miss., Jeremy Mayfield, of Russellville; brother, Glen Mayfield and wife, Linda, of Russellville; 11 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Doris Nix Mayfield and his parents, Oscar and Bessie Mayfield.

Martha A. Kimbrough Mills, 69, Russellville, Ala. passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at her residence with her family by her side.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Akins Funeral Home with Bro. Marty Kimbrough and Bro. Jim Lumpkin officiating. Interment was in Crooked Oak Cemetery.

The pallbearers were John Martin, Tony Allen, Brent Hester, BJ McGaughy, Chris McGaughy and Ryan Allen.

She was preceded in death by husband, C. J. Mills; son, Mike Mills; parents Harvey & Gladys Roberts Kimbrough; grandson, Wesley Cartee.

She is survived by children, Brenda Mills, Terry Ray Mills, Sheila Mills, Harvey "Bo" Mills and wife, Tina Lee, Donna Mills and husband, John Martin; siblings, Linda McGaughy and husband, Cecil, Kenneth Kimbrough and wife, Charlotte; seven grandchildren, Dewayne Cartee, Shane Cartee, Ryan Allen, Brittany Mills, Christy Mills, Summer Mitchell, Sabrina McCafferty; several nieces and nephews.

She was a member of the Baptist Church. Special thanks to Hospice of North Alabama especially her nurses, Mandy, Joyce and Bobbie.

O'Neal Berry

O'Neal Berry, 57, of Lynn, Ala. passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at his residence. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held June 19, 2009 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with Mickey Crane officiating. Burial was in Lynn Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy Berry; children, Anthony Berry, Nathan Berry, Kayla Aldridge and husband, John, Ava Tune, Janet Knight and husband, Bobby, Brian Berry and Jason Berry; brother, Joe Berry and wife, Kathy; sister, Dean Dickinson and husband, Tony; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubbert and Dena Berry; children, Matthew Lee and Cody Blake Berry; and sister, Ada Berry.

Abraham Jackson

Abraham Jackson, Jr., 63, of Russellville, Ala. passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at his residence.

Funeral services were held June 21, 2009 at Spry Memorial Chapel with officiating will Bro. Michael Flaherty. Interment will be in Grassy Cemetery in Lexington, Ala.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Abraham Jackson, Sr. and Mary Naomi Adams Jackson; two brothers; and infant brother.

He is survived by his brother, Clayton Jackson, of Leachville, Ark.; sisters, Dorothy Payne, Margie Frizer, both of Russellville, Maggie Glenn, of Hillsboro, Ala. and Dessie Tidwell, of Tuscumbia, Ala.; eight children; and a host of nieces and nephews.

MARGARET ANDERSON ALLEN

Services for Margaret Anderson Allen, 89, were at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home. Rev. Tommy Ledbetter officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.

Mrs. Allen died April 1 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles Thomas and Pat Allen of Atlanta; a daughter, Jane Nally of Atlanta; four grandchildren, Carissa Nally Breithaupt and her husband Chuck, Pam Nally Honeycutt and her husband Jay, Callie Allen Strain and her husband Michael and Miles Allen, all of Atlanta; five great-grandchildren, Laura Breithaupt, Michael Breithaupt, Analeigh Honeycutt, Janson Strain and Ansley Strain all of Atlanta; a brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Shelby Anderson; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Anderson, Clarise Coon and Ruth Woolf; a brother-in-law, Marvin Malicki; and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Miles Allen, Stan Anderson, Tony Kirk, Joe Cambron, Tim Allen and Perry Law. Honorary pallbearers were nephews.

Mrs. Allen was a native and resident of Piedmont until two years ago when she moved to Atlanta to be with her family. She was a member of Goshen United Methodist Church. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and bird watching. She was a sports fan and enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Tech football. She enjoyed her family and their place on the lake where she fished. She was preceded in death by her husband John Burnett Allen, her parents John Thomas “Tommy” and Lucy Jeanette Anderson, her step mother Lena Oswalt Anderson, her brothers, J.T. Anderson Jr. and Franklin Lamar Anderson and a sister Arlis Marie Anderson Law.
