REV. JAMES H. MARTIN
Services for Rev. James H. Martin, Th.D., 77, were at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home. Revs. Jonathan Foster, Hollis Martin and James Martin, Jr. officiated. Burial was in Chosea Springs Cemetery.
Rev. Martin died April 28 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Sara Martin; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Ken Foster of Griffin, Ga.; a son and daughter-in-law, James H. and Dee Martin Jr. of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Jonathan Foster, Andrew Foster and his wife Erika, Judson Martin, Ashley Martin and Roseanna Martin; his mother, Lillian Martin Williams of Piedmont; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Janice and Dallas Gambrell and Linda and Art Ingram all of Piedmont; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Hollis and Janice Martin, Johnny Martin and Joey and Sandy Martin all of Piedmont; a sister-in-law, Charlene Creel and her husband Charles, of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Andrew Foster, Johnny Martin, Joey Martin, Eddie Martin, Jerry Anderson and Art Ingram.
Rev. Martin was a Jacksonville native and had been a Piedmont resident for several years. He served as bishop of the Congregational Holiness Church for eight years, pastored several churches in Alabama and Georgia and was currently serving as pastor at Community Congregational Holiness Church. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Antietam. His father Rev. Joe Martin preceded him in death.
ALTON HUEY MOBLEY
Services for Alton Huey Mobley, 81, of Oneonta, were at 2 p.m. Monday, May 4, at Stewarts United Methodist Church. Revs. Arnold Kilgor and Richard Saylor officiated. Burial was in New hope Cemetery. Valley Chapel Funeral Home officiated.
Mr. Mobley died April 30.
Survivors include his wife, Lillia Faye Hill Mobley of Oneonta; two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen Reynolds of Altoona and Patricia and Randy Duke of Hayden; three stepsons and their wives, Scott and Sheila Tolbert of Ashville, Michael and Maggie Tolbert of Oneonta and Darryl and Laura Tolbert of Trafford; a stepdaughter and her husband Cheryl and Chris Newton of Oneonta; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Gilbert Mobley of San Jose, Calif., Jack and Sheila Mobley and Herbert and Lindith Mobley of Sacramento, Calif., and Jerry and Charlien Mobley of Piedmont; a sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Johnny Lyles of Piedmont; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; seven step grandchildren and six step great-grandchildren.
Mr. Mobley was born in Piedmont to the late Andrew Jackson Mobley Jr., and Lydia Rogers Mobley. He was a retired minister. He served in the Army two years and retired from the Air Force. His son Stephen Mobley, his brother Harold Mobley and three sisters Mary Montgomery, Gladys Reynolds and Joyce Lyles preceded him in death.
CURTIS LAMAR SINGLETON JR.
Services for Curtis Lamar Singleton Jr., 66, of Titusville, Fla., formerly of Piedmont, were at 10 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at Temple Baptist Church in Titusville, Fla. Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Singleton died April 27 at Parrish Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Media; two sons and daughters-in-law, Curtis Scott and Christine Singleton of Titusville and Steven Ray and Traci Singleton of Port St. John; four grandchildren, Joshua, Evan, Becky and Garrett; his mother, Verena Singleton of Piedmont; two sisters, Betty Wallace and Koneta Jones of Piedmont and two brothers, Howard Singleton and Mac Singleton of Piedmont.
Mr. Singleton was born in Piedmont and moved to Brevard County, Fla., in 1966. He worked for Bendix at Kennedy Space Center for seven years. He retired from Florida Power and Light as a mechanic after 25 years of service. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Parrish Medical Center Auxiliary and Indian River Masonic Lodge 90. He was active with Temple Baptist Church Prime Timers where he drove the shuttle every Tuesday morning. He enjoyed working with wood.

FREIDA K. WRIGHT
Services for Freida K. Wright, 61, were at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 1, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home. Rev. Rodney McInnis officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.
Miss Wright died April 27 at her home.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, George and Linda Wright of Hokes Bluff; an aunt, Jewell Kelley of Piedmont; a cousin, Charlene Glover and her husband Ray of Piedmont; nephews, Matthew Wright and his wife Mary, Clay Wright and his wife Jennifer and Jeff Ledbetter; nieces, Janna Bonds and her husband Scott and Candy Porter and her husband Randy; several great nieces and nephews and special friends, Barbara Amberson and Jean Daneford.
Pallbearers were Matthew Wright, Ray Glover, Rickey Glover, Benjamin Amberson, Hunter Amberson, Payton Amberson and Clay Wright.
Miss Wright was a native and lifelong resident of Piedmont and was a member of Piedmont Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Her parents Johnnie and Mary Ellen Wright and a sister Minerva Ledbetter, preceded her in death.

RICHARD RANDOLPH FUQUA
Services for Richard Randolph Fuqua, 64, were at 2 p.m. Monday, May 12, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home. Rev. Tommy Ballew officiated. Burial was in Piedmont Memory Gardens.
Mr. Fuqua died May 10 at Jacksonville Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Effie Fuqua; two daughters and sons-in-law, Christy and Stacey Brown and Lisa Ann and Carl Mobley all of Piedmont; a granddaughter, Heather Nicole Brown of Piedmont; his mother, Vera Fuqua of Piedmont; a brother and sister-in-law, Allen Ray and Ellen Fuqua of Piedmont; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Clint Mann of McDonough, Ga., and Sue and Gene Motes of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Stacey Brown, Carl Mobley, Larry Gossett, David Hastert, Michael Tolbert and Gary Hastert.
Mr. Fuqua was a native and lifelong resident of Piedmont.
He retired from Diodati Construction with 35 years services as a concrete finisher and was of the Baptist faith.
He enjoyed working on the farm and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter. His father Lee Fuqua preceded him in death.
H. WAYNE LOVE
Graveside services for H. Wayne Love, 67, were at 11 a.m. Monday, May 12, at Anniston Memorial Gardens. Rev. Randy Postell officiated. Anniston Memorial Funeral Home directed.
Mr. Love died May 9.
Survivors include his wife, Ann T. Love; a daughter and son-in-law, Kelley and Craig Daniels of Springville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick Wayne and Benita Love of Pell City and Zachary Alan and Michell Morgan Love of Anniston; four grandchildren, Conner and Brandon Daniels and Tanner and Ashton Love; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Linda Love of Anniston; a sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Philip Little of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a nephew, Jeffery Love and his wife, Melissa; a niece, Stephanie Scott and her husband, Matt; great-nieces and great-nephews, Mason and Kate Love and Davis Scott and lifelong friends, James and Rita Carlisle.
Pallbearers were Lynn Martin, James Carlisle, Terry McNeal, Jack Brim, Ken McNeal, John Reynolds, Andy Carlisle and Jeffery Love.
Mr. Love was born in Piedmont, educated at Jacksonville State University and the University of Alabama, School of Law. He was a member of the Anniston Quarterback Club, Saks Civitan Club, First Baptist Church of Saks and Disciplers Sunday School Class and an avid University of Alabama sports fan.
His parents, H. Love and Ruby Goss Love of Piedmont preceded him in death.
WALLACE RUSSELL McCULLOUGH
Services for Wallace Russell McCullough, Jr., 81, of Piedmont were at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 11, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home. Dr. Ed Coogler and Rev. Philip Cooper officiated. Burial was in Piedmont Memory Gardens.
Mr. McCullough died May 9 at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Roberta McCullough; a son and daughter-in-law, Stuart and Teresa McCullough of Powder Springs, Ga.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Bill Conway of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Angie and Steve Stanford of Huntsville; five grandchildren, Matt McCullough and his wife Christi, Clare Conway, Will Conway, Jay Stanford and Sam Stanford; a sister, Peggy Brown of Jacksonville; a brother, Doug McCullough of Thompson’s Station, Tenn.; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Roy Edwards, John Strickland, Sammy Holbrooks, Stanley Todd, Al Coble, Doug Borden and Paul Harper.
Mr. McCullough, a Piedmont resident most of his life, was a 1945 graduate of Piedmont High School and a 1950 graduate of Jacksonville State University.
He served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army. He retired from the Anniston Army Depot with 35 years service and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Piedmont where he had served as a deacon, was a member of the Brotherhood, Carpenters for Christ, and the Brotherhood Sunday school class.
He had been a member of Lozahatchee Masonic Lodge No. 97 F&AM for over 50 years, Lozahatchee No. 99 Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and was a long time member of the Piedmont Lions Club. His parents Mr. and Mrs. W. R. McCullough, Sr. and a granddaughter Hannah Jane Conway preceded him in death.

GORDON “JOCK” C. CUTHBERT
Memorial services for Gordon “Jock” C Cuthbert, 82, of Cocoa, Fla., were at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home in Cocoa.
Survivors include his wife Charlotte; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bruce and Michele Cuthbert and Gordon R. Cuthbert; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Anthony Rebon and Carrie and Murry Kulla; five grandchildren, Jessica Cuthbert, Craig Ryn, Desiree Stevenson, Natalie Stevenson and Matthew Stevenson; a brother, Jay Cuthbert and a niece, Ann Cuthbert.
Mr. Cuthbert was born in New York on May 29, 1926. His family moved to Miami when he was a teenager. He relocated to Port St. John in 1995 where he met and married Charlotte Bates in 1999. He was a retired district pharmaceutical sales manager.
He was an avid golf fan and enjoyed listening to jazz. He was a member of Mahi Shrine, 33rd degree Scottish Rite.
JEWELL STEWART KELLEY
Services for Jewell Stewart Kelley, 87, were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home. Revs. Rudy Ross and Jay Daugherty officiated. Burial was in Highland Cemetery.
Ms. Kelley died Aug. 20 at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center in Anniston.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Betty Kelley of Piedmont; two granddaughters, Debbie Harvey and her husband Bob of Piedmont and Pam McDonald and her husband Jamie of Centre; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one niece, Charlene Glover and her husband Ray of Piedmont; three nephews, George Wright and his wife Linda of Hokes Bluff, Farron Butler and his wife Tracy of White Plains and Donny Butler and his wife Teresa of Ball Play and a special friend, Cecil Parris of Piedmont.

Ms. Kelley was a native of Cherokee County and a resident of Piedmont most of her life. She was a member of the First Congregational Methodist Church and had retired from Cherokee Medical Center. Her husband Walter Kelley, son Jerry Kelley, parents W. Sharpe and Maggie Warren Stewart, sister Mary Ellen Wright and two brothers Tommy Stewart and Calvin J. Stewart preceded her in death.

LOY H. ROBERTS
Graveside services for Loy H. Roberts, 66, of Rock Run were at 2 p.m. Aug. 21, at Union United Methodist Church Cemetery
in Wellington.
Mr. Roberts died Aug. 17 at Long Term Hospital of Anniston.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Roberts of Rock Run; two sons and a daughter-in-law Danny C. Roberts of Georgia and Nathon M. and Beth Roberts of Spring Garden; two daughters and a son-in-law, B.J. and Randy Hebert Sr., of Rockmart, Ga., and Sherry L. Roberts of Oxford; 15 grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby Buttram of Piedmont and Frances Miller of Texas; a brother, Ralph Roberts of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were David Rogers, Stanley Rogers, David Danford, Joseph Hebert, Mike Williamson and Charlie Short.
Mr. Roberts was a Blue Mountain native and had lived in the Piedmont area for the past 28 years. He retired from Springs Industries.
DOT CHRISTINE POLLARD SMITH
A mass of Christian burial for Dot Christine Pollard Smith, 82, of Piedmont, a resident of Denton, Texas, for 36 years, was Thursday, Aug. 22, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denton. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Smith died Aug. 17 at Jacksonville Medical Center.
Survivors include her sister, Peggy June Freeman; a half brother, Joe Pollard and his wife Carolyn of Piedmont; a brother-in-law, H. O. Savage of Pell City; a sister-in-law, Dot Smith of Piedmont; nephews Richard “Ricky” Freeman and his wife Judy of Piedmont and Tommy Freeman and his wife Carol of Austin, Texas; a niece, Sharon Richards and her husband Michael; a cousin Louise Henderson; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and a great-great-niece.
Mrs. Smith was born in Spring Garden on Oct. 31, 1925, the daughter of Leonard T. Pollard and Tommie Roxie Braswell. Her grandparents were John and Louella Braswell and Ben and Florence Pollard. She was a 1947 graduate of Piedmont High School. She also graduated from the University of Alabama School of Dental Hygiene. She married Randolph Stephens Smith of Birmingham. They moved to Denton in 1969 to form M&B Products Co., for the production of wire and coat hangers. They were both active in the community and were members of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He died in 1987 after 38 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Kay who died a birth.
