Sallie Allen

1913-2003

Funeral services for Sallie Allen were at noon, Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Five Points. The Revs. Thomas Robertson and Lawrence Watts officiated. Burial followed at the church cemetery.

Ms. Allen died Oct. 8, 2003, at Lanier Memorial Hospital in Valley. She was born June 8, 1913, in Chambers County. She was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Five Points, a member of the Golden Age Club, Eastern Star, True Sisters and Brothers of Love and Charity and The Seven Shape Note Singers. She retired from Phillips High School in 1980, where she was the lunch room manager.

She is survived by one son, Kenneth Trammell of LaFayette; one daughter, Sallie Mott and husband, Charles of LaFayette; one brother, James Allen and wife Catherine of Five Points; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Silmon-Seroyer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth S. King

1934-2003

Memorial services for Elizabeth S. King, 69, of Alexander City will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall in Alexander City.

Mrs. King died Oct. 17, 2003, at her residence. She was born March 6, 1934, in Ohio to Joseph Bessanyei and Elizabeth Toth. She was a retired teacher.

She is survived by three daughters, Cindy, Sherry and Lisa; three granddaughters, Kimberly, Stephanie and Marina and one great-grandson, Nicholas.

House of Hutchinson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Tim "Bruno" Wesson

1953-2003

Funeral services for Tim "Bruno" Wesson, 50, of Alexander City will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at Orr Street Baptist Church. The Rev. George Stewart will officiate. Burial will follow at Alexander City Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003.

Mr. Wesson died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, at Russell Medical Center. He was born Oct. 10, 1953, in Tallapoosa County to Rupert Pelham Wesson Jr. and Jackie McCollough Wesson. He worked as an electrician for Russell Corp.

He is survived by his mother, Jackie Wesson of Alexander City; one sister, Kathy Rehe and husband Gary of Atlanta; two nephews, Bart Newman and wife Julie and Brett Newman, all of Atlanta; one aunt, Mary Walden of Alexander City; three uncles, Bob Wesson of Albertville and Marvin Lashley and David McCollough, both of Alexander City; 12 cousins, Joe Wesson and Janet McCollough Tate, both of Atlanta, Jimmy McCollough, David Lashley, John Lashley, Paula McCollough Arnberg, Beth Shaw, Diana Henderson, Steve Walden, Marilyn Kelly and Charles Gardner, all of Alexander City and Van McCollough of Brandon, Fla., and a host of friends.

Ida Traylor

1903-2003

Funeral services for Ida Traylor, 100, of Dadeville will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Dr. Carter will officiate. Burial will follow at Dadeville City Cemetery.

Ms. Traylor died Nov. 30, 2003, at Hamilton House Nursing Center in Columbus, Ga.. She was born Aug. 25, 1903, to Harold and Green Adams.

She is survived by one grandson, Charles Traylor of Sylacauga and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Wright's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Clyde Chapman Forbus

Mr. Clyde Chapman Forbus of Opelika, formerly of Alexander City, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at his residence. Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be announced later by Radney's Funeral Home in Alexander City.

Annie Mae Washburn

1910-2003

Funeral services for Annie Mae Washburn, 93, of Camp Hill will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003, at County Line Baptist Church. Bros. Wayne Barrett and Jimmy Allen will officiate. Burial will follow at Tallapoosa Memory Gardens. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2003, at Langley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Washburn died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003,. She was born Friday, May 27, 1910. She was a member of County Line Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons; Larry Washburn and wife Shirley of Fayetteville, Ga., and Dan Washburn and wife Shirlene of Montgomery; two brothers, John Will Hamby of Lincoln and Wayne Hamby of Montgomery; one sister, Helen Burgess of Roswell, Ga.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to County Line Baptist Church at 10280 County Road 48, Camp Hill, AL 36850 or to Camp ASCCA in Jackson's Gap, AL 36831.

Larry Thomas Dickinson Sr.

1941-2003

Funeral services with military honors for Larry Thomas Dickinson Sr., 62, of Dadeville were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at Alabama Funeral Home Chapel in Dadeville. The Rev. Dale Foots officiated. Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004.

Mr. Dickinson died at his residence after a lengthy illness. He was born Sept. 25, 1941, in Birmingham to Keith and Ruth Golsby Dickinson. He was the owner and operator of Three D. Electric in Dadeville.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Dickinson; two daughters, Penny Dickinson and Terri Lynn, both of Dadeville; two step-sons, Terry Agee of Houston and Greg Agee of Bald Knob, Ark.; one step-daughter, Judy Boozer of Batesville, Ark.; one sister, Pam Phillips of Birmingham; six grandsons, Blake Dickinson, Kyle Dickinson and Phillip Bunn, all of Dadeville, Brandon Boozer, Bryan Boozer and Adam Boozer, all of Batesville, Ark.; three granddaughters, Katelin Lynn of Dadeville, Cari Henderson of Byhalia, Miss., and Annie Agee of Bald Knob, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his son, Larry Thomas "Tommy" Dickinson Jr. and brother, Donald Dickinson.

The family requests that donations be made to The American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Road, N.E. Atlanta, GA 30329.

Funeral services for Huel Owen Grant, 72, of New Site will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. The Rev. Clyde Coker and Randy Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Park. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at Radney Funeral Home.

Mr. Grant died Jan. 31, 2004, at his residence. He was born Dec. 4, 1931, in Tallapoosa County to Stonewall Jefferson Grant and Lizzie Mae Gamble Grant. He was a truck driver for Area Concrete.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley P. Grant of New Site; one son, James Darren Grant of New Site; one grandson, Derrick Ryan Grant of New Site; one granddaughter, Kyndal Madison Grant of New Site; and one sister, Edna Grant Holman of Alexander City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Roy Grant; two brothers, Lavelle Grant and Garon Grant; and three sisters, Dorothy Mann, Dalton Satterfield and Ava Mae Simpson.

Daisy Ashworth, 85, of Alexander City died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at Chapman Healthcare Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be announced later by Radney's Funeral Home.

Robert Doss "Big Bob" Shivers

1948-2004

A memorial music service for Robert Doss "Big Bob" Shivers, 55, of Roswell, Ga., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at First Christian Church of Riverview in Valley. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Valley. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. March 17, 2004, (Big Bob's birthday) at Southern Skillet Restaurant in Roswell, Ga.

Mr. Shivers died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at his sister's house in Greenville, Ga. He was born March 17, 1948, in Troup County, Ga. He was a real estate broker.

He is survived by two sisters, Lorene Kelley of Greenville, Ga., and Elizabeth Baker of Auburn; one brother, Coven Shivers of Montgomery; nieces and nephews, Joey and Carol Johnston of Manchester, Ga., Thomas Johnston of Greenville, Ga., Chuck Kelley, Leslie and Janet Baker Jr., all of LaGrange, Ga., Lea and Joe Leghorn of Sarasota, Fla., Melanie Shivers of Birmingham; 11 cousins, Marion Longshore, Doss Leak, Jewell Ann Christian, D.S. Leak III, J.G. Leak, Douglas Leak, Wesley Leak, Mary Alice Bledsoe, Bill, Bob and Marvin Leak, and a large number of great-nieces, nephews, and loving friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Gladstone and Mamie Leak Shivers.

Charles E. Henderson Sr.

Feb. 1, 2004

Graveside services for Charles E. Henderson Sr., 63, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at Langley Cemetery in Camp Hill.

Mr. Henderson died Feb. 1, 2004, at Ft. Walton Beach Medical Center in Ft. Walton Beach, Fla. He was a loving and wise man that touched the hearts of everyone who knew him. He is loved and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his daughter, Sherry Walters; three sons, Donnie Henderson, Charles "Charlie" E. Henderson Jr. and Robert "Rob" Ewing; six grandchildren, Nicole and Shaun Walters of Florida and Tasha Abeyta, Jonathan, Tiffany and Michael Leigh Henderson all of New Mexico; and three great-grandchildren, Destiny Reynolds, Chyenne Walters and Sativa Abeyta.

James Donald Reynolds

1910-2004

Funeral services for James Donald Reynolds, 93, of Axis, formerly of Alexander City, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. The Revs. Tim Harris and Grady Goodman will officiate. Burial will follow at Hillview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at Radney Funeral Home.

Mr. Reynolds died Feb. 10, 2004, at his sonís residence. He was born July 31, 1910, in Clay County to Columbus Etheridge Reynolds and Nancy Donie Kennady. He was a member of Comer Memorial Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World Lodge. He was an avid fisherman and loved to garden.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ozella Reynolds of Alexander City; one son, Donald Reynolds of Axis; one daughter, Martha Warren of Montgomery; two sisters, Pearl R. King and Louise Howard McMeans of Alexander City; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Simon Reynolds; two brothers and three sisters.
